hi guys brand new to the site,,im tryin to install software onto my daughters ipod as her last one broke,,,but i cannot install quicktime onto my pc as it already seems to be on it,,yeah i know but hang on,,i dont think its properly installed as it will not come on properly,,and when i go into control panel to remove it,,well it starts to remove and then stops,,,how can i delete it please to put it back on....really am a novice guys and my little girl dosnt have a mummy so i can be a hero or a moron please help me be a hero

There is a ton of information on this as I am dealing with a similar problem (still unresolved). Search this site and google for more specific information.
The basic recommendation is:
uninstall quicktime and itunes, then use the Windows file/folder search to look for any leftover quicktime or itunes files and delete them.
Next make sure your anti virus and spyware programs are not running (disabled).
Down load quicktime (the stand alone version) and if successful dowload itunes.
Alternativly, try loading an older version of itunes/quicktime if you have access to an old installation disk.
I'd be interested in your progress. I get quicktime error code 1402 when I try to install the standalone version so I'm running an older version of quicktime until I can get it figured out.

The disk you are using probably has a defect, not uncommon on consumer grade disks. Try another disk or better yet another disk from a different manufacturer or at least a different batch.

It is a mute point now. PSE12 finally failed to the point it locked up the MAC. I had to restore the MAC OS from backup to a point before the PSE12 update.
The MAC now operates correctly and so does PSE12. I don't think I'll be updating PSE any time soon.

I had been getting this all morning and checked other messages from the community. THe one which worked was trying a different brand of disc.
I had been using Verbatim which had copied the music fine off the Real Player on my PC at school, but wouldn't work with I Tunes. Tried a Staples and an Office Depot CD-R , both of which did the job.

i think the CD was bad. i took the machine to the Apple store and they said the Optical Drive was OK. so it must be the CD's i'm using... i use Verbatim type. let me know.

'Mediium write error' means it failed to write to the disc - some makes work better than others and you may just have hit a single bad disc or maybe your burner doesn't like the make of disc. I've always had good results with TDK.

Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

My computer a few days ago wouldn't start up, would just stay at the gray loading screen forever. So as a result I tried to reformat the hard drive and reinstall, but I can't reinstall, until I erase the hard drive, but when I try to erase the hard drive it says the erase failed due to an input/output error. What does this mean? What can I do to fix my computer?

The startup drive is failing, or there is some other internal hardware fault.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

For what the Apple Store's charge you can buy almost buy a new computer.
Just for giggles I brought my old laptop in for a drive upgrade and asked, they wanted $600 for a drive that only cost $120 at the time and it was a slow 5,400 RPM drive. The new Mac's of a similar make were going for $1000.
I did the drive replacement myself, got a faster drive of better quality for $300 instead.

I think what you should do, if your out of warranty/AppleCare, is to call up the local PC tech guy who also does Mac's and have them fix you right up.
They can offer more personalized care which you need. Clone your old drive to the new and everything.
With Apple they are overworked at the Genius Bar and just place roadblocks so you buy a new machine instead.
For instance, all new iMac's now have proprietary drive software installed on the hard drives for heat monitoring. So now the only choice a user has is to bring their iMac into a Apple Store for a very expensive drive upgrade, which a person then decides the money is better spent buying a new machine.

Good to know — there is no such application as "Adobe XI".
"Adobe" is the name of the company.
"XI" is indicative of the use of either Acrobat XI or Reader XI.
Neither Acrobat XI Pro (for which Adobe provides a free, fully functional 30-day trial) nor Adobe Reader XI (the free to download and use PDF viewer that Adobe provides) have an "Export PDF" entry under "File".
"Export PDF" only is present in Adobe Reader XI over on the right on the "Tools" panel.
The "Tools" panel provides a way for a user of Adobe Reader XI to connect to various By Subscription online services (gotta pay eh).
Export PDF is one of these. A subscription lets you send a PDF file to the online internet service (aka "cloud" service). The service then exports to a supported file format (Word / Excel / ...) and the user selects / directs where the output file is to be saved on the user's local machine.
Of course to use any of the online subscription services one must have an active (paid up in full) subscription to the service.
So ---- As described the puzzle pieces don't fit eh.
