Error 403 when accessing folder shared via Apache / Personal Web Sharing

Hi. I tried to help a friend share folder via Personal Sharing.
I let him do the same things as I did and fo not understand why it works onmy Mac, not his.
The symptoms are :
When accessing his root site : http://IP_address/~username/ it just works : I (and he also from his Mac) gets the usual default Apple page, the one that is in /Users/username/Sites/
When directly accessing a file : http://IP_address/~username/images/imagexxx.gif it still works
Whern accessing a folder like http://IP_address/~username/images/ or http://IP_address/~username/foldername/ I get Error 403 : access forbidden : you don' have enough permissions (I do not remember the exact words)
The folders do exist. When there is a typo in the URL, I get error 404, not 403.
Eveything works for URLs like http://IP_address/foldername/ (site in Library/WebServer/Documents/)
I checked folder and file permissions on his computer and couldn't see any difference from mine.
He's on 10.4.7 with an iMac G5. Mine is a Mac Mini Core Duo with 10.4.7 too.
Help appreciated,
Jérôme.

To allow directory listings, root (or the admin via sudo) needs to edit /etc/httpd/httpd.conf with a plain text editor. The text editor that Apple supplies can easily ruin this file. Many people have recommended TextWrangler, but I've never used it. The Unix editors in OSX are vi, emacs, pico and ed. Pico is probably the easiest to "just figure out". In Terminal:
sudo pico /etc/httpd/httpd.conf
find the Directory directive that applies to the directories that you're working with and inside you'll see a directive Options, add Indexes to the Options, save and quit, restart Apache and you're good to go.

  • Error 403 when accessing workflow manager page after install

    Hey,
I'm in the process of setting up a new workflow manager farm for my SP2013 environment.
At the moment I'm setting up the stage WFM farm which consists of only one dedicated server (meaning not running on a SP server). My live WFM farm will be made of 3 servers.
I've followed Harbar's guide located here:
http://www.harbar.net/articles/wfm2.aspx, and all was successfull until I tried to access the workflow page on
    https://myserver.domain.com:12290 and got a 403.
I've checked that the Workflow Manager Backend, Windows Fabric Host Service, Service Bus Gateway and Service Bus Broker services are running.
Get-WFFarmStatus is also showing me everything running. In IIS, app pool and site are started.
I've tried ti access https://myserver.domain.com:12290 from the WFM machine, from a SP server and from my own laptop, same issue, I always get a 403.
Would you know how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks in advance and have a nice day

    Hi Fluidetom,
From your description, my understanding is that you got 403 error when you accessed workflow manager site.
Please run IE as an administrator(right-click IE ->run as administrator) on the WFM server, compare the result.
Please run the commands to check the workflow service account:
    $Farm = Get-WFfarm
    $Farm.AdminGroup
Make sure the account has local access to the server.

  • Server Error  403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

    Hi,
I`d like to get your advice on Server Error 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. I use to visit a webpage with no issues so far but now i getting this error each time i`m trying to get into. Any ideas in how to solve it? A step to step process will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.
PS, I`m using the latest safari 8.0.3 and OS X 10.10.2.

It's an error message from the web server, not from Safari. There's a slight chance that you might be able to clear it as follows.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
    and confirm. Test.

    Hi all,
Can any one tell what this below error message is about in while go into TRFC
'An SQL error occurred when accessing a table'.
and please tell me how to solve this problem.

    Hi
Try to see what all tables are accessed by data source. and see if there is any lock on that..
If some other job is accessing that table - then there might be lock on that which is causing failure..
    1) Try looking at ST22 dump also..
    2) Try to do RSA3 in R/3 and if see if its is fetching any records or not..
    Hoep it helps

We're having similar connection issues, and the error log on our web server says something about a certificate error. I noted that last year on this date there were messages related to certificates. Is it possible they are updated every Dec 2, and we should count on some down time?

Can you tell me what is wrong with this statement.  I get an ABAP runtime error.

It was the same with me. My declaration for "TYPES" wasn't like my "SELECT".
I have a tip: In your "SELECT", select all fields that was declared in your "TYPES".

The Home Sharing is working on my Apple TV device.  Any suggetions or help would be appreciated.

I had exactly the same problem on my iPhone. Switching it off and back on again has solved the problem. My iTunes library is on a Mac but I don't think that should make any difference. Intermittently, I have also had difficulty accessing my iTunes library from my iPad2 although not with any error message. Turning home sharing off and back on again in iTunes solved that one

  • Error message when access WLS: active sockets and socket readers configuration

    Hi,
I got the following error when I tried to access the WLS using a program to get
    the mbeans data.
This error happens when I have 3 or more servers running ( 1 admin server, 2 or
more managed servers). With cluster with more than 2 servers running, this error
    also occurs.
    <Sep 10, 2001 8:35:01 PM CDT> <Warning> <JavaSocketMuxer> <There are: '3' active
sockets, but the maximum number of socket readers allowed by theconfiguration
is: '2', you may want alter your configuration.>
I creased the socket readers from 33% to 66%, but I still got the same error.
    I'm using WLS version 6.0 sp2
    My configuration is:
    Execute Threads = 15,
    Socket Readers = 33% or 66%
Does anyone know how to fix this ? I am really appreciate for any suggestions.
    thanks,

thank you, I just found out about setting those sockets using command line options
an hour ago. But thanks a lot.

    Kieu,
You could try increasing the number of execute threads, you can do this
    via
the admin console on the <server> --> Tuning tab.
    See http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs60/perform/WLSTuning.html#1104317 for
guidelines on setting the thread pool size and the number of socket readers.
Here is a link that talks about socket communication in a cluster

  • Error 403 when trying to run a web application

I am trying to run a web application(J2EE and velocity) that works perfectly fine on Tomcat but doesn't work on weblogic. I was initially getting a nullpointer error but I got rid of it when I removed xercesImpl.jar from my application's library folder and repackaged the war file. However, when I try to run the application now, I get the following error:-
    *Error 403--Forbidden
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.4 403 Forbidden
The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it. Authorization will not help and the request SHOULD NOT be repeated. If the request method was not HEAD and the server wishes to make public why the request has not been fulfilled, it SHOULD describe the reason for the refusal in the entity. This status code is commonly used when the server does not wish to reveal exactly why the request has been refused, or when no other response is applicable.*
The application has been deployed successfully but I am unable to run it using the link generated in the testing tab. The application. I was wondering if there is any workaround for this error.

The testing link is using, the host:port/contextroot. Note that the URL is per default not accessible and give justly the 403 forbidden error.
When you have an index.jsp (or something similar) in the root of your Web application it will automatically load that one, otherwise
you will get the forbidden message.
