Error accessing preferences

Question

I'm trying to setup Acrobat Reader 6.0.1 I've set my location to United States in Regional Settings. I can access everything in the Installshield tuner, except the Preferences section.
Using a WindowsXP workstation, I get a DNS error:
The requested URL could not be retrieved
While trying to retrieve the URL: http://aeit.preference.1/
The following error was encountered:
Unable to determine IP address from host name for aeit.preference.1
The dnsserver returned:
Name Error: The domain name does not exist.
Using a Win2000 workstation, I just get a dialogue box:
iside
Invalid class string.
In either case, I can't get to the preferences screen.

I actually got it working, although I'm not sure how. I had installed Tuner as an administrator and then tried to run it from my regular user account, tried using Run As and providing administrator credentials while logged in to my regular user account, and tried running it while logged in to the same administrator account which I had used to install it.
Just on a whim, I tried changing the MST name from the default to just DAP.MST (running Tuner while logged in to the administrator account), and then Preferences came up with no error. From this point on, Preferences came up with no error even if I used the default MST name and even when running Tuner from my regular user account!
Unfortunately, the Preferences in Tuner were useless, as they were only a very small subset of the the Reader preferences, and none of the ones I actually wanted to change, so I was back to researching registry settings anyway.
I'll create a new forum topic for "Reader Preference Registry Settings" to ask further on this. I'd appreciate any input you can offer on that topic.
