Error: Attempting recovery (due to soft timeout) of Guard

I'm getting this error...
2009-07-31 18:02:03.311/735.778 Oracle Coherence GE 3.5/459 <Error> (thread=Cluster, member=1): Attempting recovery (due to soft timeout) of Guard{Daemon=DistributedCache}...from this code. I get to the aggregate() command and then it's wait.. wait..wait.. until the recovery error above shows up and execution continues. There are no items in the NamedCache returned by Position.getCache() so it's not like this aggregator is legitimately taking ages to run.
public class MyProcessor extends AbstractProcessor {
public Object process(InvocableMap.Entry entry) {
   final LongSum sizeSumAgg= new com.tangosol.util.aggregator.LongSum("getSize");
   final Filter f = new EqualsFilter("getSymbol", o.getSymbol());
   if (threadExecutor == null) {
     threadExecutor = Executors.newFixedThreadPool(1);
   Future<Integer> f = threadExecutor.submit( new Callable<Integer>() {
     public Integer call() {
       Long p = (Long)Position.getCache().aggregate(f, sizeSumAgg); //takes ages!
       return p.intValue();
   int positionSize=0;
   try {
     positionSize = f.get();
   } catch (InterruptedException e) {
   } catch (ExecutionException e) {
...Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
The message that you are seeing is indicating that the DistributedCache service thread is unresponsive (actually most likely deadlocked).
In this case, I think the service thread is blocked while invoking an EP, waiting on a Future to complete (presumably on a different thread). The future, in turn, is trying to do an aggregation, the result of which is waiting on the DistributedCache service thread to be free.
See: http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH34UG/Constraints+on+Re-entrant+Calls
thanks,
-Rob

    You are certified but you don't know how to to recover a database with corrupt redo logs? There you have my problem with certificates: they don't tell you jack about the true knowledge of the DBA and his problem solving skills. (or is this exactly what you are saying with "book knowledge"? I am no native English speaker, so I might have misunderstood).
    Just enter your ORA-error in a metalink search and you will find notes that explain exactly what to do (the how-to's you mention ;))

  • Weblogic invoking web service failed due to socket timeout

    Hi,
    I encountered an error when I invoke web service from OBIEE 11g. The web serivce resides on Websphere running on other machine.
    An error says that "Invoking web service failed due to socket timeout." and it seems that it stopped in just 40 secs.
    Is there any settings of WebLogic server to avoid this? This web service normally runs for more than 60 sec.
    I have checked several parameters by WebLogic admin console and changed those values, but I still receive same errors.
    Regards,
    Fujio Sonehara

    Hey Eason,
    As I had previously mentioned, I have checked the FE server certs and have mentioned the signing algorithm it used to sign the certs, which was sha1DSA and not sha1RSA, I even checked my CA list of issued certs and have found all certs are signed the same.
    Signature algorithm: sha1DSA
    Signature Hash Algorithm: sha1
    Public Key:  RSA (1024 bit)
    I could run request and reinstall all day long it will still get the same certs signed with the algo..
    Doing some research I attempted to see if I could change the signing cert for a specific cert template that was being used to issue the Lync FE certs... however seems that from according to
    this, that I'd have to completely rebuild my CA before I'd be able to request and issue a cert with the proper signing algorithm?!
    This
    says its possible but not supported, what do I do in this situation? Is my only option to rebuild teh entire CA and cert infrastructure?
    I noticed my CSP is set to Microsoft Base DSS Cryptographic Provider, and under the CSP folder there is no "CNGHashAlgorithm" key so I'm using a "Next Gen CSP" apparently? Is this CSP good enough to support Lync...Straight up where is
    the Lync documentation on the CA setup requirements??
    This google link doesn't tell you how you should setup a CA for Lync, what settings need to set etc..

  • [SOLVED]error: attempt to read or write outside of partition

    Hello, I update my system at least once a week, sometimes I run pacman -Syu more than that. So this system is no more than about 7 days behind what is available today.  Last time I did this the kernel got updated and it updated itself again or at least it just ran mkinitcpio, also my passwd and group changed, anything that was not represented in the pacnew version got a representation, this last one mainly featured a lot of changes to "/usr/bin/nologin" from the login false version, whatever it was, nothing that looks too fussy.
    Reboot just to see what will happen and I am greeted with this:
    Booting `Arch Linux, with Linux core repo kernel'
    Loading Linux core repo kernel ...
    error: attempt to read or write outside of partition
    Loading initial ramdisk ...
    unaligned pointer 0x1d
    Aborted. Press any key to exit.
    I happen to have a usb drive that has Arch Linux 3.11.6.-1-ARCH, so I put that in and get an environment I can work with. Chroot in and so I can run mkinitcpio -p linux, thinking that that is the problem, some error in the kernel, I actually end up using the command
    # /usr/lib/modules
    , since
    # mkinicpio -p linux
    won't run, it gives:
    ==> Building image from preset: /etc/mkinitcpio.d/linux.present: 'default'
    -> -k /boot/vmlinuz-linux -c /etc/mkinitcpio.config -g /boot/initramfs-linux.img

    hexdump: /boot/vmlinuz-linux: Input/output error
    ==> ERROR: invalid kernel specified: '/boot/vmlinuz-linux'
    However,
    # mkinitcpio -g /boot/linux.img -k 3.14.6-1-ARCH
    will. Everything finishes with a success, exit out, reboot and bam, same message, so it is not the kernel at least not on its own.  Here is what my fstab looks like:

    my /dev/sda1 was /boot/ not /boot/efi, so I made that change, allowing /boot on / [/dev/sda3] to now be populated with part of the stuff on /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda1 would just have /boot/efi/, instead of all of boot, then ran:
    # modprobe -r efivars
    # umount /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
    # modprobe -r efivarfs
    # modprobe efivarfs
    # mount -t efivarfs efivarfs /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
    # efivar -l
    returned a bunch of variables

    arch_grub, whatever that was, went away. Pull out of arch-chroot, unmount sdaXs, reboot and:
    ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed.
    An extensive hp diagnostic check reveals... Nothing wrong.
    A reboot and removal of all data written in /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda3/boot sectors reveals:
    # mkdir /boot/efi/123
    mkdir: cannot create directory /boot/efi/123: Cannot allocate memory
    Which persist even on a restart and trying to mkdir into /mnt/arch/boot/efi/EFI while outside of arch-chroot. No idea why that is happening, oh well.

  • DB_PAGE_NOTFOUND error after recovery on a CDS database

    I am getting a DB_PAGE_NOTFOUND error after recovery, with a database that is configured in CDS mode. The error occurs after I insert several rows, bring down the process, remove the environment files and start the process which attempts to insert additional rows - gets a DB_PAGE_NOTFOUND error. The error persists ie. terminating and starting a new oprocess does not resolve the problem.
    Amy help will be appreciated.

    Assuming, that the db is corrupted and that CDS db's can get corrupted - is there any way, I can reduce the frequency of these errors by increasing Cache, page size etc.?
    Following is my DB configuration:
                   dbEnv_->open(envHome_.c_str(), envFlags_, 0);
                    dbEnv_->set_errpfx(envHome_.c_str());
                    dbEnv_->set_thread_count(16);
                    dbEnv_->set_cachesize(0,(100*1024*1024),2);
                    envFlags_ =   DB_INIT_CDB | DB_THREAD | DB_INIT_MPOOL ;
                    envFlags_ |=  DB_CREATE ;
                    dbEnv_->open(envHome_.c_str(), envFlags_, 0);
    db->set_pagesize((32*1024));
                db->open(NULL, temp.c_str(), tableName.c_str(),\
                    DB_BTREE, DB_CREATE | DB_THREAD , S_IRUSR | S_IWUSR);
                    dbEnv_->open(envHome_.c_str(), envFlags_, 0);
    The platform is HPUX. The problems occurs periodically - i.e. not every time.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Robert,
    Are you using EMET Antivirus? I have seen the issue caused due to this. Try disabling it and  check.
    I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
    The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
    Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
    In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
    The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
    AFTER:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
    Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.

  • There was an error attempting to send your changes to the exchange server.

    iCal will no longer sync with my work Exchange calendar.
    I have deleted and added the account several times, but that is not working.
    I was getting messages about specific events not being synced with the server, but now I get the following message:
    "Calendar can't refresh with the account "RPD Exchange"
    There was an error attempting to send your changes to the exchange server"
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Just hit this issue, with 10.10.2 Yosemite myself.  Simple to fix.  First Close iCal.  Then go to system preferences and open internet accounts.  Selected the Exchange account and turn off calendar.  Closes System preferences.  Now, from the finder, goto the GO menu, and hold down the option key.  While holding down the option key, you will see "Library" appear.  Click on this and it will open a finder window.  Then go to directory named Calendars. You will see a file called, Calendar Cache.  It should be a big file, depending on how much you have stored on your ical, maybe around 5 to 11 megs.  Move it to the trash can.  Then restart iCal.  iCal will crash the first time you open it due to the missing cache file.  Just hit ok and reopen it.  At this point iCal will reload all you accounts.  This can take a couple of minutes depending on how much info is there.  Most of the time you Exchange account will reload by its self, but only after all the iCloud events are rebuilt.  After iCal is back up and running go back to System Preference and make sure Exchange calendar is on.  Most of the time it will turn on by it's self.  Best of luck.

  • Unexpected soft timeouts

    Hi all,
    We deployed 3.5 over the weekend (up from 3.3.1.) We're getting a lot of soft timeouts (and some hard timeouts.) We've left the service guardian timeout at the default (65000 ms according to the docs.) What I don't understand is why I see so many "timeouts" with such low numbers, like a few hundred ms. We even see one of 24ms! The stuck threads are always in WorkManagers doing a variety of operations (db, http to external systems, etc.) There are some timeout errors that have more reasonable durations on them (usually 57 or 58 seconds.)
    Can someone describe the criteria for a stuck thread and what action is taken? In some cases the interrupt is successful and the effect is not much more than that one thread is killed. In other cases I see a message about stopping the work manager because 8 interrupts were ignored.
    I believe I can disable this behavior by setting the tangosol.coherence.guard.timeout property to 0. I would like to troubleshoot this a little further before I do that, however.
    thanks
    john

  • How do I fix this error, Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Modal session requires modal window'?

         I have been trying to start up my Batman: Arkham City game recently and it says that it cannot open and gives me this error;
                   "Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistancyException', reason: 'Model session requires model window'"
         I have played the game for about 13 hours before this error started to pop up and I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to fix it.  Any information would be greatly appreaciated.

    Yesterday I had the same problem.
    I installed the game and played for five hours with no problem but in the last execution my iMac show me that error. I tried to uninstall and install the game again but always show me the error. I did the same with the Steam client with no solution.
    Finally I fixed the error deleting a folder.
    Go to Macintosh HD/Users/[username]/Library/Caches/com.feralinteractive.bmac
    and delete the folder named "com.plausiblelabs.crashreporter.data"
    Try to launch the game again.
    Good luck.

  • How do I fix the error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException'

    Help!
    I have a 3rd party application that used to work perfectly until this morning. The problem is not do to an update of that program nor of updating the Mac OS. This came out of the blue. When I try to open the application, it won't open and I get the error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException'
    I looked around the forum and read it might be because of a bad font? But I don't find detailed instructions on how to delete or fix the corrupted font.
    I have tried deleting the application, then downloading a new copy and installing that - same problem.
    Please don't respond with I should go call the programmer of the 3rd party application. If you know where the problem is in my MacBook Air, please help me fix it.
    I have a MacBook Air running OSX version 10.6.8

  • Error while running due to tabletype

    Hi All,
    I am getting error while runnning procedure but it compiled successfully.
    ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got -
    I have created a Object Type and by referring that tobject type, i have created a table type. then i have created a variable of that table type.
    But when i am using that vairiable in Cursor's fetch statement, it throws the above error at runtime.
    The code is something like this:
    create or replace procedure PROC_SP_MASTER_UPLOAD(p_Return Out Number) is
    -- Creating Table Type
    -- ot_sp_master is Object Type
    Type tt_ot_sp_master is Table of ot_sp_master;

    Fetch old_cursor_sp Bulk collect into v_tt_ot_sp_master LIMIT 5000; // throws error at this line
    ForAll i in v_tt_ot_sp_master.first..v_tt_ot_sp_master.last
    Update MST_INSTRUMENT mst set

    I don't know why it is throwing this error, may be due to object type......

  • Error attempting to process incomplete inbound FTP file

    We are currently receiving some large files into PI via FTP.  Here is the communication channel definition:
    Adapter Type:  File
    Transport Protocol:  File System (NFS)
    Message Protocol:  File
    Adapter Engine:  Integration Server
    Poll Interval (secs):  600
    Msecs to Wait Before Modification Check:  10000
    Our issue is that at times PI attempts to process the file before it has completed uploading, and throws this error:  "Attempt to send file failed because file was modified during processing. 2428928 bytes expected, 2675033 bytes found. Trying to resend file".  The next time the file system is polled for new files, PI selects and processes the file successfully.
    Two questions:
    1)  Is it possible for PI to wait until the upload has fully completed before it attempts to process the file?  For example, can I run an operating system command before message processing which attempts to put a lock on the file and waits until it is successful before the file is processed?
    2)  We have implemented alert monitoring from Solution Manager for errors in PI.  These cases are throwing an alert upon the initial error, but these turn out to be false since the message is eventually processed successfully.  Can I configure Solution Manager to bypass this type of error?
    Thank you very much for your help with this.

    Hi Mark,
    >>>1) Is it possible for PI to wait until the upload has fully completed before it attempts to process the file? For example, can I run an operating system command before message processing which attempts to put a lock on the file and waits until it is successful before the file is processed?
    there is an easy way to achive it
    put the file with a different name (let's say .lfg extension for flag)
    after the application finishes uploading make sure it will also change the name to .xml etc.
    inside PI file adapter specify to upload only .xml extensions - this way it will only take the whole file
