Error backing up with mailbfr

Hello,
I am trying to backup my mail server using the mailbfr script and I am getting the following error:
link_stat "/private/etc/amavisd.conf" failed: No such file or directory
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at /SourceCache/rsync/rsync-14/rsync/main.c(633)

oflags: -oxtabs
cflags: cs8 -parenb
mailbfr was aborted. the process was NOT completed successfully.
I am running Mac OS X 10.3.9 and have mailbfr v0.4.6
I need to know what I'm doing wrong so that I can get my mail backed up. Thanks for your help.
PowerMac G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

With any luck Pterobyte will notice your question.
Mailbfr is not an Apple product, it was authored by Alex (aka "Pterobyte") and Dale Walsh.
You must have downloaded the software from their site,
http://osx.topicdesk.com/
which is probably the first place you should pose any questions about it
I have used it successfully, and looking at that error message, I'm wondering about the reference to /SourceCache
that is a build directory used and not where the executable should be. How are you invoking mailbfr exactly ? It should have been installed in /usr/sbin
Try calling it directly:
sudo /usr/sbin/mailbfr -youroptions
Also, do you have the/any file /etc/amavisd.conf ?
What result do you get from :
ls -al /etc/amavisd.conf
(or)
tail /private/etc/amavisd.conf

The mail system can be backed up with mailbfr and the resulting backup subsequently with any decent backup software. mailbfr will make sure the mail system is stopped while backing up.
A server is always tricky to backup, because it is always in a "fluctuating" state. Ideally all services should be stopped before a backup. Some will not cause major issues, others like mail will. Unless you have some sort of raid setup, where you can take a disk offline for backup purposes, you will always have to be very careful.
I would look for service specific scripts on an as needed basis. There are some around for SQL for example.

  • Time machine fails backing up with a "backup disk not found" error after upgrade to Lion 10.7.2

Time machine fails backing up with a "backup disk not found" error after upgrade to Lion 10.7.2. I've erased and reformatted the drive; reconnected Time Machine(it saw it) and began a new backup. The backup starts again but fails before completing with backup drive not found error. I used the 10.7.2 combo update. Any help on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

    Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
After waiting since October for a fix, I have now upgraded the firmware on the Time Capsule and installed the new Airport Utility, released yesterday, and the situation is even worse.
Up until now, the Airport Utility had an option to disconnect all drives manually and the Time Capsule would then work until the next reboot – a temporary (?) work-around.
Now that option does not exist in the new-look Airport Utility. And the Airport Utility installation can’t be rolled back and the old utility won’t restore.
The sparesbundle is still not accessible. Anyone worked out a work-around in the new environment yet?
I have another Time Machine backup working fine to a trusty old Lacie Drive so erased the one on my Time Capsule to see if that works. I have renamed the Capsule and the Time Capsule Drive.  But to build another full backup will take at least two days and I shall be away from tomorrow and am reluctant to leave the Capsule and computer up and running for a week. And I’ll bet the sparsbundle will still be nowhere to be found.
How can Apple screw up so badly when they are to become the richest company in the entire world and – soon – will have more cash in the bank than the entire United States? Can’t they afford someone who really can sort this out? Especially when a Firewire connected hard drive – my trusty and simple LaCie – works fine.
    Words, almost, fail me.

SO HERE IS HOW YOU CAN RESTORE YOUR DATA:
    Get your Fullbackupdata-Contactfile.
    1.  First go to your backupfile: (C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Sony\Sony PC Companion\SomeNameDependsOnLanguage\
    2. Make a Copy of your backup-File (crtl+c, crtl+v)
    3. We want to change the file extension, so make sure you see it. If you don't see a .dbk at the end of your file, go in the explorer window in the left upper corner on organise -> Folder and search options. Change to view and then deselect "Hide extensions for known File types"
    4. Rename (F2) the file to backup.zip
    5. Open the zip with 7zip or something similar.
    6. Navigate to Applications\com.sonyericsson.android.contactsimport and get the fullbackupdata file which is lying in this folder.
    7. Put this file on your Desktop.
    8.Download this jar-File: http://ge.tt/64TJmne/v/0?c
    9. Put the .jarFile also on your desktop.
    10. Doubleclick the .jar-File. After a few seconds a new file with the name "restore.tar" should show up (If not check if your fullbackupdata-File really has the name "fullbackupdata" and is on the desktop)
    11. Open the .tarfile with 7Zip
    12. Navigate to restore.tar\apps\com.sonyericsson.android.contactsimport\f\
    13. Copy full_backup_vcard.vcf to the Desktop.
If everything worked you're finished, you can open this .vcf File via Windows-contacts -> import or put it directly on your phone and import it there (open Contacts. Settingsbutton -> impot)
If you don't trust my .jar file, you can also download the github-project follow their orders and compile it yourself.

Migration Assistant (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Migration Assistant) is the tool that you would use to restore backups from older Macs to another Mac.
Details are here:   http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html   The same info applies for Mavericks and Yosemite.   If you are saying that this is a "no go".....where are you getting stuck?  What error messages do you see?

  • When I try to sign in to my account on iTunes, I get the above error message, along with "Please review your account information". When I then click on "Review"

When I try to sign in to my account on iTunes, I get the above error message, along with"Please review your account information".
When I then click on "Review", it comesup with the page "Create an Apple Account for the iTunes Store"and presents me with the Terms Of Service.
When I click "Agree",  It is disabled.
Can anyone tell me why this has happened and how to resolve it?
    Please, please, please help.

Count me in as having the same problem. I have been leaving messages in the iTunes for Mac forum where others in there also are having problems. I have been unable to access my account since 11/7/2007. E-mails with Apple have not worked and now I haven't heard back from them since Saturday. I have tried both on a Mac and Windows machine and keep receiving the same error message that:
This Apple ID has not yet been used with iTunes.
I last purchased music with this account on 10/30/2007. I even tried resetting my password, changing my account info, trying on a computer with iTunes 7.4, etc. I have money in that account and 150 songs and 5-6 tv shows that I cannot access. I also just purchased a new computer and cannot sync my iPod with this computer since these songs will not transfer.
Apple really needs a phone number for technical support. Having to deal with e-mails back and forth (and waiting a day for each e-mail) is not a good business practice. Hopefully they will have a phone number in the future.
Either way, count me in on getting annoyed that a week later, this issue has not been fixed.

  • Error in communicating with IPMProcess or IpmDbEngine

    Hello there,
I have a problem with IPM module. Everytime i try to access to this module it always appears the following error "Error in communicating with IPMProcess or IpmDbEngine. It may be down or not yet up. Please make sure processes are up and running". Then i go over the processes link and it shows:
    IpmDbEngine
Program started - No mgt msgs received
    IPMOGSServer
Program started - No mgt msgs received
    IPMProcess
Administrator has shut down this server
... so i start the IPMProcess, then i go back to any of the IPM configuration links but still show me the same error.
Could you tell me how tosolve this problem??
I am working with LMS 3.1 and the IPM version is 4.1
    Regards,

I have set the regional parameters as you indicated. It remains with the same problem. I revised the IPMProcess log but it did not have any changes thus i am not uploading it.
I looked over the services window and realized that Daemon manager is not started so i tried to do so but it doesn't start. Any suggestions to run that service first?? cause actually i know that if daemon manager doesn't work then any of the modules is going to respond anyway.

  • Re: BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns

    Hello Everyone.
I've run into something quite strange and am hoping you can help me.
I am using Apex 4.0.1 and Oracle version 10.2.0.5. I've created a "classical" report in which the underlying SQL is a very simple:
select * from pvtabThe Oracle table pvtab consists of 419 columns, all of which are varchar2(88) and number type. That's it.
When I run the report, al of the columns show up as expected.
However, when I go into the "Report Attributes" tab and click on one of the fields (any of them, it doesn't matter which one), I immediately get the following error:
ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "598CAA7B68746A66F4B99E1512C36DED" application checksum = "0"If if replace the "*" with a few actual column names, then I am able to access any of these columns without problem.
If I put back the "*", I then encounter this error again.
I have never seen this error with other SQL SELECT statements in which I use the "*" qualifier to retrieve all columns from the table.
And so, I am wondering if the error is caused because of the large number of columns (419) in my table.
I've seen this same error mentioned in connection with forms but never with a report.
So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?
Any idea why I would be getting this error?
Here is the DDL for my table pvtab:

So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?Yes. See Oracle® Application Express Application Builder User's Guide Release 4.0, Appendix B: Oracle Application Express Limits.
Any idea why I would be getting this error? No, but I've replicated it in APEX 4.0.2.00.07 on 11.2.0.1.0 EE using a table of 420 <tt>varchar2(88)</tt> columns:
    >
ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "50C9BDC0AA1AEF0EB272E9158B2117B4" application checksum = "0"
    >
Happens whether using <tt>select *</tt> or including all column names in the query. (I know you don't want to type all the column names, but I'd never use <tt>select *</tt> in a production application: always use a proper column list. You can get one without typing by drag-and-drop of a table in most IDEs, or a query from <tt>user_tab_columns</tt>.)
I hit the problem at 274 columns. Such an arbitrary number leads me to think that the problem is not one of the number of columns per se, but is due to some other limit (possibly a 32K VARCHAR2/RAW buffer somewhere).
    Workaround:
Updates to the report column attributes are actually being saved, and you can navigate them using the Page Definition tree view as described in Appendix B.
    Getting More Help:
This is probably a bug. If you have a support agreement with Oracle raise an SR with Oracle Support.
    Also:
<li>Search the forum using the "ORA-20503" code and other possible terms to see if there's anything relevant. I had a quick look but the only thread in this context recommended an upgrade on an Oracle 9 DB version that's not compatible with APEX 4.0.
<li>To get the attention of the Oracle APEX team or anyone else who may know more about this problem than we do, edit your original post and change the Subject to be more specific about the actual nature of the problem: <em>BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns</em>, and include your database version/edition and the definition of the <tt>PVTAB</tt> table.
    Finally:
Somebody's bound to ask, so we might as well get started:
    <li>Why so many columns?
<li>What requirement is this trying to fulfil?

  • "Errors on page" with simple JSF page

    Hi
I wrote a very simple JSF page as shown below. It works as is with MyFaces. Now I tried to make it work with Sun RI as well.
Here's the problem: The page appears perfectly fine (it shows two columns of links). Only one single link works, though: the first one in the left column.
When I click on that first link, the action handler method ("userClick") is called and executed fine.
But when I click on any other link, the method is not called at all. All I get is an "error on page" message in the browser status bar. No log message on the command line or log file.
Am I doing something wrong? With MyFaces it works fine.

I don't think I need to show the backing bean with the userClick() method since the error is that this method is not even called (I added a system.out.println() to this method - which is never executed)
So the problem must be before
BTW I am using Sun RI 1.1.01 as shipped with the MyEclipseIDE extensions.
Thanks a lot for your very much appreciated help

  • Getting error back to XI for Asyn Proxy scenario

    Hi All,
I am working on proxy scenario. i am using fault message type for  rising exception and scenario is asynchronous.  if ther is any application is throwing some exception, now it is not coming to xi. we can monitor it in R3. but i need to rise alert if ther is any application error. is ther any way to get the error back to XI for async proxy scenario...?
    Please help me
    Regard
    Pradeep P N

    Hi
I will explain my scenario, suppose the message from xi reaches R3 succefully, but due to some back end configuration the data is not getting updated(eg for creating sale order ther should be some back end configuration), in that case the proxy will raise exception and message will get failed in R3,  i can monitor that in SXI_MONITOR in R3 as failed. but for XI it is success, When ever a message is getting failed in R3, i need to rise one exception.
In XI sxi_monitor i can see it as success, but in message monitoring while monitoring Proxy Bussiness system i can show the status as Apllication error, if iam aable to get this proxy business system in Alert configuration then i think we can rise alert. is ther any way to get proxy business system with Adapter engine and Integration engine.  Please help me....
