Error connecting, tap to retry, it sees my WiFi and computer name but can't connect

Hi all, I am trying to get Edge Inspect to work on my Windows 7 PC (it did work for me a few times when I had it installed as Shadow when it initally came out)
I have read through various forum posts. I am also running Mcafee Virusscan/Firewall.
In Google Chrome I have the extension installed at the little "In" symbol top right, when I click it it says Adobe Edge Inspect "On", please start the Adobe Edge Inspect Application.
I open up the lastest version of Edge Inspect (v1.0.393) on either my iPhone or iPad, it shows the name of my WiFi router and shows the name of the computer that is running Google Chrome, it looks like it is searching for a connection (shows spinner) and then it says "Error connecting, tap to retry".
I have opened up port 7682 in my Mcafee Firewall
I have shutdown all open programs
I have tried manually entering in the computer IP address via manual connect
I have updated chrome extension and ios apps to latest version
I have tried reinstalling chrome extension
I have tried at Windows Command prompt "netstat -ano" it doesnt show port 7682 being used, until I open up Google Chrome, then it shows MYCOMPUTER:7682 SYN_SENT, which I checked the PID against and yes it is Google Chrome using 7682
Any help would be great

Hi again Mark, still no luck here.
I also have a Mac in my network so I thought I'd try installing to that to see what would happen, I just installed Adobe Edge Inspect extension onto Google Chrome on that machine and restarted the iOS apps on both iPad and iPhone and they actually didnt see the Mac machine at all, still just shows the PC computer.
Also did I mention on my iPad I can still see the last time the connection actually worked (when it was called Adobe shadow, on my iPad underneath MYCOMPUTERNAME Error Connecting, tap to retry it has MYCOMPUTERNAME Last Used 24/07/12 8:59PM). Wouldnt have anything to do with a conflict with the old Adobe Shadow or anything would it, I'm pretty sure Adobe Shadow got uninstalled by default anyway, just a thought.
So I'm not sure if it can be a problem with the Router because nothing has changed with the router since the last time it successfully worked when it was Shadow? I did add the Mac machine to the network since this time, but that machine hasnt been on when I have been doing any of this testing anyway.
Also in the Edge Inspect in the Chrome browser I do not see any deviced listed, but back on the iOS App I do see the Wifi network and Computer name as discussed, so does this mean its an inbound connection issue or?
Also sent you router settings via private message etc.

  • HT1386 I keep getting a "Download Error. Tap to retry." on my iphone and ipad!!

I cannot download any music to either one. Any ideas on how to fix this? And how to do I clear the download que so I can start over?

I found something that worked for me on an iPod Touch 4G, iOS 5.1 in a similar situation. I was trying to download a bunch of previously purchased songs, but they wouldn’t download -- i ended up with a long list of songs in the Downloads window of iTunes, all of which would give me “Download error, tap to retry” no matter how many times I tried. The trick I read on another site of pushing Retry, immediately pausing, and Retrying again didn”t work for me. But when i went to the Music app, all the new failed downloads appeared in the songs list (accessed via the Albums button at the bottom of the screen), but with little round buttons (like the stop button on a DVD player) next to them. The songs wouldn’t play, but if you push one of the buttons, the song disappears from the list and starts downloading in the Downloads window in iTunes. By doing this, I was able to quickly break the locked up queue of downloads. The problem didn’t recur on my next download.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Can't see computer name but can connect using IP

I was trying to help a friend get a wired router connected up. Cable modem to the WAN of the Linksys with an older G4 iMac (17" flatpanel, 1GHz) and a Mac Book Pro connected to the ethernet ports of the Linksys (BEFSR41).
    Both computers on 10.4.7
After setting up a new network location and setting the Built-in Ethernet to use DHCP and making sure the Built-in Ethernet port configuration was turned 'On' things worked fine. I reset the router's admin password by accessing 192.168.1.1 I was able to send & receive mail from both computers and surf the web without any problems. I could login from either computer to the other.
I'm not sure when it happened, possibly after the iMac fell asleep, but eventually I couldn't see the iMac's name when I would Go/Network (Cmd-Shift-K) on the Mac Book, BUT I could still connect to the iMac from the MacBook by entering in the IP. There was no trouble connecting to the MacBook Pro from the iMac
From the MacBook's browser, afp://192.168.1.102/ would connect fine.
Did multiple restarts of both machines, and even powered down & up both the cable modem and the router. Repaired permissions.
Any ideas on why I can connect by manually entering the IP but the computer's name doesn't show up when trying Go/Network???
    Thanks.
    Patrick

    Got it!
I went looking through the knowledge base documents and ran across this document.
"AppleTalk must be turned on both on your computer and the other person's computer, or the other person needs to know your computer's IP address."
I had been able to connect with the IP, but the name didn't show up. I gave her a calll and had her check the Network preferences and AppleTalk was off, she turned it on and everything is working like it should.
Now how do I give myself a 'Solved'?

  • I'm on the wifi network at home, but can't connect to the internet

Is there a way to check why I can't get on the internet, when I'm on the network?  I've reentered several times the information on the ipod touch settings, and it connects to my network just fine. I've reset the ipod several times.  I'm using a d-link DIR501 router, which my other ipod, laptops, and printer, etc  all connect just fine.

Forgetting the network shouldn't prevent you from reconnecting to it assuming you know the SSID (name) and have the password. What happens when you try?

  • HT4199 Problem Syncing with Itunes wirelessly but can still connect to wi-fi.

I can access wi-fi from my Iphone 4s and the internet but can't connect to itunes wirelessly to sync the phone.  Was working fine and then just stoppped. Can stilll sync when plugged in but can't use certain apps that require wireless syncing only.

First connect your iPhone to your computer, click on iPhone than check mark "Sync using Wi-Fi. There your problem is fixed. Make sure your computer and iPhone is connected to the same network.

  • Download error. Tap to retry.     Why? I have a wifi and still the same message?

Download error. Tap to retry.... Why? I have a wifi connection and still the same message, and even connected to desktop the same for ipad. Help :-)

I'm getitng the same thing.  I'm beyond sick of this iPad.  It's a third generation Retina Display and it turned into a pile of cat turds after iOS 7.  It got so bad I restored it and used iCloud. It was still god awful.  I restored it and didnt use the iCloud backup and hoped that whatever was wrong would be avoided....nope.  IF I can get a download going it nearly kills my entire iPad.  I will open the cover and wait over 30 seconds just for the screen to light up.  I will hit the home button to close an app and wait nearly a minute in some cases for it to actually close.  Then to top off all the annoyances it just fails and loops over and over.
I bought Apple products to avoid stuff like this.  Very unhappy.

  • Audiobook purchase on iTunes - "Download error. Tap to retry."

I bought an audiobook through iTunes last night and am having some trouble with the download. First, it was stuck on "processing" and I read in another thread that I needed to connect to wi-fi, which I have now done. Now, after I enter my iTunes password, the message beneath each book segment is "Download error. Tap to retry." When I tap to retry, it flashes "processing" briefly, then goes back to the download error.
Can someone give me an idea of what to do next? I don't want to lose the $20 audiobook I purchased.
    Thanks!

Oh, never mind. I guess all I had to do to fix it was to post the problem on this forum. Once I posted, I tried for about the tenth time and it worked.
    Thanks, anyway.

  • Tried to download TV series from ITunes.  .  All I get is:  download error.  Tap to retry.   Repeats over and over.  Please help!

Tried to download TV series from ITunes.  Most ok, but 4 will not download.  All I get is:  download error.  Tap to retry.   Repeats over and over.  Please help!

If you sync with iTunes on your computer - connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Click on the iPad name on the left side. Then at the top of iTunes go to Store>Check for available downloads. See if the TV shows will download there and then sync them to the iPad.
If you don't sync with iTunes, try signing out of your account, restart the iPad, sign in again and then try to download the shows again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to download again.

  • Download error. Tap to retry and syncing problems!

I can't sync music to my iphone 4s, i tried so many times to sync music to it after managing and adding music to my itunes library then dragging them to my iphone, but when i go to my Iphone Music app, only "No content" appear inside the app, no tabs appear.
In itunes, i synced music to my sisters iphone from the same library and it worked perfectly fine, so i think the problem is in my Iphone!!
because i also backed up my iphone contents to Icloud, erased everything and started my iphone as a new, when i synced to it, it worked, but when i restored from icloud my contents, i had the same problem.
I also can't download music from itunes store, it just says (Download error. Tap to retry)
What's wrong??? I have uploaded three screenshots here.
A week of suffer! Someone help me please!

I am finding that iTunes and iCloud are still recognizing my new iPhone 5 as my iPhone 4s... even though I do not own it anymore. I think there is a glitch in there somewhere. I have traded out my new phone once... erased it several times... backed it up... restored it... still no luck.
I am going to keep trying, but perhaps there is some inherent old soul in the iPhone 5 that is really a 4s... therefore... your 4s won't give up its library? Have no real answer for you... just thought my problem might be in the similar realm.

  • Whenever I download a movie from iTunes it always comes up "download error. Tap to retry"

whenever i download a movie from itunes it will start downloading but will crash featuring the error message "Download error. Tap to retry." how do I fix this?

I am not sure if your problem has already been solved, but I came across your question because I was having the same problem with music I had bought from itunes on my iphone 4. The message kept appearing for 3 days when I tried to download in 3G. Once I tried it from work where I am hooked up to wifi, both of my pending songs downloaded faster than I could blink. Perhaps you could try it again once you are hooked up to wifi. I am brand new to the whole apple world, but I'd be interested if this is the answer to your issue. Good luck!!

  • Download error. Tap to retry. on iTunes match

I have been using iTunes Match for a couple of weeks now with an iPhone 4S and I am severly disappointed. There are a couple of tracks (that I've noticed, at least) which I purchased from iTunes, but when I try to load them into my iPhone 4S I repeatedly get the "Download error. Tap to retry." error. In the past when I've received this error I've just manually retreived them from my computer, but with iTunes Match I don't have that option. I've tried quitting iTunes, rebooting the phone, deleting ALL of my matched songs, and numerous spells and incantations. They just don't download!
Another issue that I've had (not sure if it's related) is that a couple of songs don't download even though they show as available. iTunes shows they're playing, but there's either silence or a crackling sound. These are also songs that I've purchased.
Both of these issues occur either using cellular data (Verizon) or wifi.
I'm running the latest version of iOS (currently 5.0.1 as of this writing) and there are no other updates pending. I don't know if it matters or not, but my computer is a Mac running the latest version of OSX Lion (10.7.2) again with no updates pending.
Any help (or at the very least some assurance that I'm not the only one) would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Unfortunatly, there's no fix. If you have DRM free song file from different iTunes account loaded onto iTunes match, while iTunes can download songs on your mac, since iTunes stores multiple account authorization, on iOS devices, it's only on the iTunes account your are logged into.
For example, you have DRM free songs you bought from iTunes store in Japan. While it will upload successfuly into iTunes Match and iCloud, you can only download the song on your iTunes on Mac, since your iPhone only has information for US iTunes store.
hi all i just figure it out…if you have an song form different account just create ACC version of it so the account will change and you can upload it then you can download the song i tried and it worked for me

  • Why  "Download Error. Tap to Retry." only Occurs in iOS Podcast app?

    Hi,
I've recently discovered problems downloading my podcast using the 'Podcasts' app in iOS. I consistently get the same error. That is, "Download error. Tap to Retry". The podcast feed I give to iTunes is generated by a WordPress plugged-in named 'podPress'. The feed is good from iTunes software on PCs running Windows, or OSX, across various versions. Instant play works, and subscription downloads work, but it doesn't work in the Podcast app in iOS devices (at least versions 7 and 8.)
The only thing I can imagine is an XML formatting issue, but I don't know where to looks.
    Thanks for any help.
Here is my feed source: http://www.internationalcsi.com/blogs/sccclub/feed/podcast/

I am not sure if this is related, but when I use the 'Feed Validator' linked to from the WordPress plug-in 'podPress', then I get one warning about a self reference. I cannot verify whether this is related to my problem, nor can I figure out how to resolve the warning.
I noticed that two other people have 'ticked' the option "I have this question too." Maybe one of you has tried this, with the same or different results?
Here is a link to the 'Feed Validator' using my feed:
    http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsccclub.org%2Ffeed%2Fpodcast
...and, before you ask, Yes; that is the absolute path to the link referred to in the warning message, and consequently the reason I can't figure out has to resolve the message.
Try your feeds, and see if you get similar results. Thanks.
