Error connecting with OCCI in Oracle 11G

Hi,
I am trying to access the Oracle 10.2.0.1 database using Oracle 11.1.0.6 Client.
I am able to make connection in SQL Plus window.
But when I am trying to connect to the DB with Occi I ran with this problem in Oraocci11.dll
Unhandled exception at 0x1001e604 in Occi_8.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x32869770.
Please suggest what is to be done in this regard.

Error connecting with Few versions of Oracle

I wrote an MFC based application in Visual C++ to make the connection with Oracle Database. ADO Control is used to make connection. Following is the Connection String:

But few versions are not accepting this connection string. Like Oracle 9i, Release 1.0.2. What could be the reason of this problem?
Another thing that noticed with 8.0.6.0.0 is that when i start the oracle service, and try to connect, it refuces connection, but next time it accepts the connection request...

Another thing i noticed is if i connect the SQL+ software, it continues working. But if i close the session of sql+, my other application stops working...Strange.

Ora 24960 exception with VC9 and Oracle 11g - 11.1.0.6.0 client

We have developed a OCCI client application using 10g express edition and visual studio 2003. It was working fine. Now we have migrated to 11g (11.1.0.6.0) client with visual studio 2008. VC version 9. We have migrated all .dll and .lib files based on oracles following link.

Now while trying to make connection it's throwing ORA 24960 exception. (the attribute OCI_ATTR_USERNAME is greater than the maximum allowable length of 255)
but the attribute length is very less.

Are you compiling in debug mode and using the Instant Client SDK by chance? If so, I suggest taking a look at My Oracle Support Note:747933.1 (ORA-24960 Error When Trying to Connect in Debug Mode With OCCI Instant Client). Essentially the issue is that the OCCI files included with Instant Client SDK do not include the oraocci11d.lib library.

Trying to use ODAC on 64 bit Windows 7 with 64 bit Oracle 11g?

I have been trying to connect to Oracle 11g with VS 2010 .NET Framework 4.0 on Windows 7 for about 5 days with no luck.
Background: VS 2010, .Net Framework 4.0 and Oracle 11g 64 bit are running on the same maching.
I have found that are two versions of the 64 bit ODAC.
1) The XCopy bersion and 2) the Oracle Universal Installer version.
To install the XCopy version, I right click on the cmd window, change to the folder where my xCopy install is and type install.bat all d:\oracle\myoraclehome odac just like the documentation says. The files are created in my Oracle home and there are registry keys under HKLM\Software\Oracle like the documentation says. I don't have a clue how to prove weather it's doing anything usefule though. When I go to VS 2010, I don't have System.Data.Oracleclient of Oracle.DataAccess.client or any other namespace that can talk to Oracle. How would I test the XCopy version and see if it is actually able to do anything?
I like the Windows Installer version much better and set it up just like the readme.txt said to. I used the Oracle Data Access Components for Oracle Client 11.2.0.2.1. I wound up with two oracle homes, one for my server and one for the ODAC install. I copied tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora over to the odac client home's Network\Admin folder. From my server's oracle home, I ran sqlplus and was able to successfully login to the server. I liked the fact that it came with sample code and I saw that the Oracle.DataAcces.client dll was added as a project reference. I ran the samples with my userid and password and got a TNS Adapter error.
Since the Oracle server is on the same server that everything else is on, I ASS-U-ME that I would want to install the Oracle Data although I didn't see it documented anywhere. I tried creating it in a different directory, but it says it must be installed on top of an existing oracle home. I tried creating it in my oracle home and got err message OUI-10044 - The selected oracle home location already contains an oracle home or APPL_TOP created while running a different OS.
Can someone tell me how to correctly install either one of these and test it to make sure it is working?

It sounds like I have the same setup as you and I am no expert on Oracle install issues but VS 2010 is 32bit. You need to install the 32 bit version of ODAC to make VS all happy. I was under the impression ther was no 64 bit version of ODAC? Then again I am no expert on the topic.
I then installed the 64 bit xcopy version, decided upon the location for tnsname and then defined TNS_ADMIN. All works well. I create most of my exe's as AnyCPU and Windoze/Oracle seems to figure out what to do.

You can download the 11.1.0.7 patchset from My Oracle Support -
support.oracle.com
as patch 6890831.
Once logged in click on 'Patches and Updates' and enter the patch number as 6890831 and choose whichever platform you are running.
the readme explains how to apply the patch to an existing 11.1.0.6 install.
The url you posted is only for complete product installs, but 11.1.0.7 is only a patchset that must be applied to an existing install.

Error 1114 on XP+SP2, Oracle 11g

My environment:
Server: Linux, Oracle Enterprise 5.3. Oracle 11g, upgrade to 11.07 by a package download from web site, name as p6890831_111070_Linux-x86-64.zip.
Client: XP+SP2, 11.06, upgrade to 11.07 b a package download from web site, name as p6890831_111070_Win32. I don't know the original zip name, just can see the folder name from our file server.
There are 6 clients at our lab, all them are OK, until I install a new OS(English) XP+SP2 in D disk at 2 clients. Both the two clients fail to create an ODBC connection now, but others still are OK (the left 4 clients OS is same with the 2 clients, that's say, XP(En)+SP2). I still can connect to my Oracle Serve by SQL Developer at the 2 client now, just ODBC driver doesn't work.
I can see an ODBC Driver from Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Data Sources(ODBC), as the following,
Oracle in OraOdac11g_home1 11.01.00.07
but when I try to add a DSN, I can see an error said,
The setup routines for the Oracle in instantclient11_1 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126.
When Connect to Oracle from my application software, I can see a messag said
Error Cannot Load Resource File sqresus.dll, after click OK button, another error message pop up,
ERROR[IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114 (Oracle in OraOdac11g_home1).
I have download the latest ODBC Driver from web site, but these files date and size in the package are same with existing. Anyway, I install it, then I can see a new ODBC driver from Data Sources(ODBC), name as
Oracle in instantclient11_1 11.01.00.07
after restart, I try to create a DSN, still failed.
By checking HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\, I can see both driver and setup value are
"D:\\app\\Administrator\\product\\11.1.0\\client_1\\SQORA32.DLL"
it is my installation path, and I can see the DLL under the directory.
By the way, current PATH is

Establish 32-bit ODBC connection to 64-bit Oracle 11g database

Hi Everyone,
Just to set the scene:
PC with Windows 2003 server x64 OS installed, Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7 64-bit installed and MS Office 2007 installed.
I am looking for advice on the best way to establish an ODBC link so that MS Access 2007 (32-bit) can connect to the Oracle 11g (64-bit) database.
There are known issues, see [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942976|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942976] (which I have hit) when attempting to use a 64-bit ODBC DSN within MS Access 2007. This means that I need to setup and install an Oracle 11g 32-bit ODBC driver to be used against the Oracle 11g database (TNS listener also running 64-bit).
Any thoughts on the best approach I should take to do this?

The more information section of the MS support article doesn't give me much to go on other than to explain the differences in how user and system DSNs are displayed and managed between the 2 different bit versions of ODBC administrator and how this information is stored in the different registries (64-bit and WOW64).
I have been able to install 32-bit Oracle11g instantclient and its ODBC driver successfully and then in turn create the 32-bit ODBC DSN, however I am unable to connect to the 64-bit database when I attempt to test the DSN. I have updated the Windows PATH environment variable to include both the path of the Oracle11g DB server and instantclient homes as well as creating a TNS_ADMIN environment variable to point to the location of the Oracle11g TNSNAMES.ORA and the 64-bit 11g listener. However despite this I still get the error when testing the DSN:

Create PDF report with APEX and Oracle 11g doesn't work

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with the downloading of PDF reports from APEX with Oracle 11g.
When I try to download a PDF, Acrobat Reader says it can not open the file.
I have done the same test in an environment with APEX and Oracle 10g and it works perfectly.
Does anyone know if there is a known bug for version 11g.

Error connection with a database in remote node

When I try to start a dialog instance does not detect that the database is in a remote server is booted:

The output of R3trans -x is:

Connecting SQL server from Oracle 11g

I know there are several threads available to this post but please help me in
*step by step process to follow in connecting 2 servers.
I tried everything in internet but got Connection closed error after tnsping of DNS name. Do i need to run any instance sort of thing in SQL server?
I dont have any access on SQL server.Whatever i have to do that has to be only in Oracle server.I got all those information and created ODBC (using SQL server driver) and tested the connection successfully in Oracle server. Altered INIT*.ORA,TNSNAMES.ORA and LISTENER.ORA but when pinging TNS awfully getting the afore said error.

32 bit compiled Java Program not connecting to 64 bit Oracle 11g

I am using one java program to connect to Oracle 11g (64 bit version) using Oracle10g 32 bit client libraries using OCI calls. Below is the program. If I compile it using 64 bit Oracle 10g libraries ($ORACLE_HOME/lib and $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib) , it perfectly connects to Oracle11g but when i compile it using $ORACLE_HOME/lib32 and $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib32, it hangs and keeps trying and takes 100% cpu usage. it does nothing. Please suggest what is going wrong in the environment.

Are you still using Java 1.4? If so, why?
For Oracle 11g you should be using the latest JDBC jar file (ojdbc6.jar) and the latest version of Java 1.6.
You are not only using an old JDBC driver and Java version but are also trying to mix 32 bit and 64 bit operations.
I suggest you start using recommended practices and update your Java and JDBC versions and select EITHER 32 bit or 64 bit operations.

Vb6 ODBC - Syntax error or access violation in oracle 11g migration

Hi,
We have VB6 application with Oracle 10g and the same is working fine.
Now, we are migrating to Oracle 11g now and we have updated the odbc drivers too.
{ call M_FR(?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?) }
L_ID = 890083
V_ID = 1
SUB_ID = 6955141
SUB_SEQ = 1
P_CODE = 1
L_SUP_TYPE = 1
L_REF_NO = 1
DELETE_REASON_CODE = 1
When calling the above sp in oracle 11g getting error: [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle]Syntax error or access violation.
But user has all the right and no issue with access. Also no syntax error. In SQLplus the same is working fine.
Kindly help us to resolve this issue.

Try downloading the latest version of the 8.1.6 driver off OTN.
That sounds like a bug that was fixed a while ago.

Can't connect Forms 6i to Oracle 11g on Windows Server 2008 SE

Hi everyone,
I have Oracle 10g working pretty well with Forms 6i, but now I have installed Oracle 11g on another server and I'm trying to connect Forms 6i to my other Oracle 11g server, but Forms 6i never gets connected. Is there any trick to make it work? I have check the upper cases and other things related with lower and upper case passwords, but nothinh happens.
Can anyone please help me?

Its probably the Oracle client that installs with Forms 6. Try connecting to the database using SQL Plus from a Forms workstation. If it fails I would install a newer client and switch the Oracle Home on all the workstations.
( Provided it tests out )
I would probably try using the Net Configurations Assistant in your Oracle Start Menu group with all combinations I could think of before I added a second client to the mix.

So I'm sorry to say you are out of options. I also checked the Forms Forum and the few posts there on Forms 6 ( Obsolete in 2004 ) all agree. Forms 6 and Oracle 11 database do not play together.
I hope at least I saved you some time.

Connect to DB2 from oracle 11g on windows 2008 server

Hi Folks,
I want to conenct to DB2 from oracle 11g using DB link.
DB2 :
user : db2user
pwd : db2pwd
database : db2database (OSBLDEV)
able to connect to db2 server (installed on machine M1) using db2 client with above details from machine M2 (where oracle is installed).
Oracle :
user : orauser
pwd : orapwd
host : orahost
port : 1521
service : oraservice
able to connect to oracle server using oracle sql developer with above details on Machine M2 (windows 2008 server)
when i execute the query with database link
select row_id from siebel.s_org_ext@OSBLDEV;
I get the message : ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
could you pls check and let me know whether the below enteries are correct or not.
Pls share if you have step by step connectivity from DB2 to oracle using DB link.
1. I have created the Data source for DB2 - test successful
create database link OSBLDEV
connect to "db2user"
identified by "ldb2pwd"
using 'OSBLDEV';
1. I have made the following entry in E:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\hs\admin\initosbldev.ora

1. My listener.ora is placed at the below location:

2. I have modifed the listener and removed the entry - hsodbc
3. stop and start the listener.
still can't see the service entry in listener status.

Error connecting form 6i to oracle 9i

Hi,
I installed developer 6i on windows XP with oracle 9i.
I am getting ora-12203:TNS :Unable to connect to destination error while connecting form with oracle.
Although i can connect to oracle from sqlplus.
I replaced form's tnsnames.ora with that of oracle.
Also service for oracle and listner are running.
Any solutions.

2 days b4 i also installed 9i and 6i for me its working perfectly, what i did first i have installed 9i then installed 6i and copied only the 9i hoststring related tnsnames.ora paragraph from oracle home directry and pasted in new 6i home tnsnames.ora.
from data base home related sqlplus we not need to enter hoststring but from forms6i connect we have to enter the host string also
are u trying with out host string ?, i have also new in installation of 9i and 6i if anything wrong pls excuse me.
