Error in DW5 on Using Insert-HTML-Special Characters-

I'm getting an error which stops the process and reads:
The following JavaScript error(s) occurred: Unable to open the script file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\Configuration\Objects\characters\jrtextformat.js" (error2).
How do I fix this? Thanks.
I'm using a 64-bit windows 7 system, DW version 11 build 4993. If I need to just replace the js file, where do I get it?
Jeff

Hi, already did and they don't work. I have a big project coming up,
will probably uninstall after I finish. Thank you.
Question: exactly which version of Java should I be using? This is a
64-bit system.

  • Embed an Exported Muse Page Using "Insert HTML"?

    Hello All,
    I'd like to export a Muse page to HTML, then embed that entire page into another Muse page using Insert HTML. I've done some experimenting and haven't yet gotten it to work.
    I'm familiar with embedding html in Muse, including the linking of external css stylesheets and js libraries, and I'm also reasonably skilled in post-editing my Muse pages in Dreamweaver. But this has me stumped.
    Anyone have any experience to share? Thanks!
    bart

    Hi Bart,
    I am not sure why you want to first export the page and then embed it as HTML in another Muse page. However, you can copy all the content from a page and use the "paste in place" option from Edit menu and all the content will be placed as it is on the source page.

  • Html special characters

    when using the Dreamweaver 'Set Text of Layer' behavior,
    Dreamweaver correctly converts all html
    special characters, such as accents like and &,
    and quotes and double quotes, so that it is safe
    as a javascript string, and will display properly.
    I am trying to figure out what PHP function can do the same
    encoding, to simple text files (textEdit
    on the Mac).
    I have tried htmlentities(), but it does not work, accented
    letters like just desappear from the
    string.
    I have tried htmlspecialchars() and it does not work
    either...
    I have tried about 10 others functions found on Google but
    nothing works.
    Anybody knows what exact function Dreamweaver uses to do this
    conversion?

  • Convert HTML special characters to String

    Hi,
    I'm looking for an easy way to convert HTML special characters (like "&#246") to String.
    Any Ideas how implement this? Thanks

    Hi,
    I'm looking for an easy way to convert HTML special
    characters (like "") to String.
    Any Ideas how implement this? Thankswell im assuming that you mean that when you are working with java you will be getting a ? instead of the character you want. assuming that you are reading and writing to this html file. if not well maybe this can stil help : BufferedReader inFile = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(fileName),"ISO8859-1"));
    PrintWriter outFile = new PrintWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream(fileName2), "ISO8859-1")); basically you need to make sure that ou define ISO8859-1 as the encoding.

  • HTML special characters in form input

    In my site I store form input in my database. Before I store
    the data, I parse out smart quotes, en dashes, and other extended
    special characters and convert them into HTHML quivalents such as
    &#8217;
    All is well and good until the user goes to edit their info.
    In my form these characters show up in my <input> tags as
    their long-winded HTML equivalents, such as &#8217; instead of
    a smart apostrophe.
    Is there any way to convert these back to the special
    characters from the HTML on the form input text fields so that
    users can edit them without being confused?
    Thanks.

  • Dynamic insert for Special Characters

    Hello,
    I'm running into a problem inserting data with Special Characters. I have a report (designed oracle reports), that takes data and inserts the data into table. I use the SRW.do_sql built in package in a before report trigger to process the data. However the problem that I'm running into is how to dynamically account for the special characters in a description field that I have. There is no way for me to predict where or how many can appear in a field. For example, I may have a field that contains data like:
    O'REILLY AND ASSOCIATES INC.
    OR
    FULLER & D'ALBERT, INC.
    OR
    JOANNE'S BED & BACK SHOP
    The only special characters that seem to be used and are causing me problems are the " ' " and " & ".
    Does anyone know how I can dynamically account for these special characters in my insert statement?
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello,
    I'm using SRW.DO_SQL procedure in oracle reports because that is one you can run text via reports. The report actually exports the results to a text file and insert the results into a table. Anyway, the SRW.DO_SQL isn't my problem but rather the special characters. I have researched the problem some more and I have found a solution. You can use the "replace" feature to do an insert/update of special characters. You also need to find the character number for each special character. I believe "&" is chr(38), "%" is chr(37), "#" is chr(35), "@" is chr(64), "'" is char(39). So the code would be:
    insert into tableA (column1) values(
    replace(replace(replace(replace(replace(v_entity_name,chr(39),chr(39)),chr(38),chr(38)),chr(35),chr(35)),chr(37),chr(37)),chr(64),chr(64));

  • Using XML with special characters - not rendering

    Hello,
    I am using xml to populate the content of a Flash file, but
    we have localized content for different global regions. So, when
    the content contains special characters like "é" they do not
    show up at all in the flash. I tried using &eacute; but that
    just renders the actual code...
    Is there a workaround for this?
    Thanks

    Hi Rothrock, thanks for your reply...
    Flash Version: 8, but the swf was published to be 7+
    compatible.
    The font is Meta Normal, it is embedded, and it does include
    the character.
    I am retrieving the xml by using this script in the html
    page:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    // <![CDATA[
    var fo = new FlashObject("/templates/flash/index.swf" +
    cKiller, "ad-flash", "710", "351", "7", "#FFFFFF");
    fo.addVariable("xmlURL", "/flash_content/products.xml");
    fo.write("ad");
    // ]]>
    </script>
    I am creating the XML using Macromedia Homesite, with the
    encoding declaration <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    The XML is being read fine, only the special characters don't
    show up... so it will cut off the word, or just have an empty space
    where the character should be.
    I am not sure how to specifiy Extended Latin charset in the
    document... could you tell me how to do that?
    Thanks

  • Unable to insert some special characters.

    Hi,
    I am not able to insert some czech characters into the database. The problem is mainly seems to be due to the characterset. When I query the record, it displays some garbage characters or ? instead of (ž, š). Can anyone please suggest me a solution for this problem?
    The DB characterset is :-
    SQL> select * from NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS where parameter like '%CHARACTERSET';
    PARAMETER VALUE
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8MSWIN1252
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
    Many Thanks in Adbance.
    Sam:-)

    All characters are stored as a hexadecimal value either in one-byte (usually ASCII) or two-byte (Unicode). The mappings of which characters (or glyphs) go with which hexadecimal values constitutes a character set. Character sets are NOT equivalent to fonts. I used to build them.
    It sounds like the character set you are using on the server doesn't match with the character set on the client. This is not an uncommon problem. There are plenty of resources on the web for determining which characters map to which hex values. I recommend that you find the character set being used by the client and compare it to the one on the server. It is usually not a good idea to change the character set on the server after install, but Oracle may be able to help you through that. On the client end, you can look at the application and see if there is a way to change the character set to have it match what is on the server. For the Czech characters, I think that they are present in most ASCII symbolsets, but are not consistently mapped to the same hex values. Thus the problem you are seeing.
    Good Luck.

  • Using SQLDriverConnect with special characters in password fails, same info with ODBC (Oracle instant client) works fine

    Hi,
    on a windows 2008 machine that has the Oracle instant client 11_1 installed (11.01.00.06) i am calling SQLDriverConnect in the following way:
    std::string str = "Driver={Oracle in instantclient11_1};Dbq=//10.10.101.66:1521/orcl;;Uid=myUser;pwd=a;b";
    odbcRc = SQLDriverConnect(hdbc, NULL, (SQLTCHAR*)str.c_str(), str.size(), (SQLTCHAR*)szConnStrOut, 1024, &cbConnStrOut, SQL_DRIVER_NOPROMPT)) == SQL_ERROR);
    as long as the password contains no special chars (namely semicolon) it works fine. but when I try to use special chars in the password It stops working, with an invalid username/password error.
    State: 28000 Native error: 1017 Message: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
    i tried different variations of adding " (\") over the password, over the entire pwd=a;b or braces { but nothing seems to work.
    the thing is that using ODBC works! what I did was:
    open ODBC, go to System DSN tab, add "Oracle in instantclient11_1", then fill the following information:
    Data source name: Anything
    TNS Service Name: //10.10.101.66:1521/orcl
    User ID: myUser
    then i press test connection, enter the password "a;b"
    and it works!
    I cannot figure out what's my problem.
    Thanks,
    Roy.

    I've created your test table in my Oracle database using this extra character and I'm able to describe it properly.
    SQL> desc test;
    Name Null? Type
    ATTIVITÀ VARCHAR2(40)
    My character set being used is:
    SQL> select * from v$nls_parameters;
    NLS_CHARACTERSET
    WE8ISO8859P15
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET
    AL16UTF16
    NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS
    BYTE
    So as long as it doesn't work for you in your native Oracle database I don't think it would work with DG4ODBC. So yes, it would be best to log a service request so that the Oracle database support can check out the NLS issue.
    Edited by: kgronau on Sep 28, 2011 9:21 AM
    To be complete here the describe of the MySQL table native and using DG4ODBC:
    mysql> create table TEST (attività Varchar(40));
    Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)
    mysql> desc TEST;
    ---------------------------------------------------+
    | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra |
    ---------------------------------------------------+
    | attività | varchar(40) | YES | | NULL | |
    ---------------------------------------------------+
    1 row in set (0.00 sec)
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.2.0 Production on Wed Sep 28 09:20:17 2011
    SQL> desc "gateway"."TEST"@MYSQL_DG4ODBC_EMGTW_1122_DB;
    Name Null? Type
    attività VARCHAR2(80)
    So in general it should work.

  • How to insert some special Characters  in a table

    Dear All
    I have a value with some italian Characters ..
    Like :- )
    e l’attivazione - Here the ' symbol is not single quote , it is some ITALIAN characters .
    So how can i insert .
    I have value like :- e l’attivazione "Trasloco Linea Telefonica”, disponibili sul portale TUO, sezione Accessi/Traslochi"
    Insert into ABC values ('e l’attivazione "Trasloco Linea Telefonica”, disponibili sul portale TUO, sezione {code}Accessi/Traslochi"');

    Hey,
    You can run below command to insert such value in single column of the table.
    INSERT INTO ABC VALUES ('e l’attivazione "Trasloco Linea Telefonical, disponibili sul portale TUO, sezione Accessi/Traslochi"');
    or you need to get ascii value of the character '’'
    e.g.
    SELECT ASCII('’') FROM dual;
    O/P
    14844057
    then use this ASCII value in CHR function while inserting data into table
    INSERT INTO ABC VALUES ('e l'||CHR(14844057)||'attivazione "Trasloco Linea Telefonical, disponibili sul portale TUO, sezione Accessi/Traslochi"');
    When you will query the data from table you be get below value for that column.
    e l’attivazione "Trasloco Linea Telefonical, disponibili sul portale TUO, sezione Accessi/Traslochi"

  • HTML Special Characters Encoding

    Hi Guys,
    I have a problem with pasting contents from MS Word to messagetextinput. The double quotes becomes numbers or ? or different character. The quotes are smart quotes not the straight quotes. For example:
    I'll paste "TEST"
    Then when i paste it in messagetextinput, it is the same. Then saved it to database and when retrieved, it will display... &#8220;Test&#8221;...
    What can I do to solve this? Any suggestions?
    Please help. Thanks!

    maeve,
    Text copied from Word won't be plain ascii text but the formatted text which contains control characters. You should avoid copy, pasting from text formatters.
    I hope that the issue doesn't exist for text typed into the field.

  • Special Characters in imported HTML

    I've got a Flash piece where the user fills out a
    questionnaire, and based on their responses, they are shown a
    handful of recommendations. These recommendations are all separate
    HTML files that load into a scrolling text field as HTML text.
    There is an English version and a Spanish version. The
    English version works fine.
    In the Spanish version, on the other hand, we've got special
    characters such as accents over e's, tildes over n's, and so forth.
    In the HTML, I've used codes for special characters, such as
    &ntilde; for ñ. That didn't work. In the resulting
    recommendations, this code appears, not the ñ.
    Then I tried just putting the special characters into the
    HTML, without the special code. That looks fine on my computer (Mac
    G5 running Firefox), but on Windows IE instead of the special
    characters, we get one of those diamond shapes with a "?" in the
    middle of it.
    In my recommendations field, I have it set to embed all
    characters. The font is Verdana, which should include the special
    characters. Does anyone know if the display of special characters
    in Flash is possible, and how I would do it?

    add <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> tag to 1st
    line of your xml, AND
    save your xml file encoding as utf-8, if you are using
    notepad, try this:
    - save as, change the encoding (the bottom field) to UTF-8
    no worry about your file extension.
    UTF-8 (8-bit Unicode Transformation Format) supports multiple
    languages.
    good luck

  • Error in parsing special characters

    We are getting the following error when we parse a clob with special characters like \226(- special dash char), \231(the "TM"-Trademark logo), \256(the "R"-Registered logo )
    "Invalid char in text" when the parser is loaded in the db.
    But when we tried to parse this xml file as a file input (parser is now outside the db), it parses the file fine and inserts the data into the db.
    We are wondering if there is a difference in parser parsing special characters between inside and outside the db.
    We are running xml parser version 2.0.2.7 and if this is a bug and being fixed in later version, is there a workaround for this version
