Error in retrieving value from the inputfield.

Hi Experts,
There is this behaviour I saw in WD which was understood by me.
Let me explain it :
I am doing a comparison scenario where I compare 2 products in a grid format.
For this I have a table with a various types of variants.
In this grid I have a inputfield which takes an integer input and based on which there is an effect on other variant field of that product.
Now I am retriving the value of the input field in the modify view through
input.getValue(); parse this string to an Integer and then pass it to the model.
Here is the problem everything works fine when the user goes and changes the value for the firsttime but if he does the same thing without the input field loosing focus it throws a Numberformat exception this occurs because the string value retrived this time is an empty string which obviously can't be parsed.
Can anyone explain me the why is it behaving in this way?
Any help will be truly appriciated.

If u want to change the focus before retrieving the data from input field, try

b.requestFocus();
before

Retrieving values from Database in Excel Task Pane App

So far,
I created a website with a database on Azure, I then published my App to Azure. My problem is that I'm not sure how I retrieve values from the database (in SQL: SELECT * FROM EXAMPLE_TABLE WHERE date = str). If someone could provide me with sample code,
that would be amazing! :D
It would also be very helpful if anyone knew a method to automatically update the database using information from a xml stream on another website, once a day.

You can use jquery ajax call to call your webserivce or REST API, which will query the database and return a json result.

In MOSS 2007 I've created a list with about 24 columns. I need a KPI based on one of the columns. I've tried to creat a view with that one column, I've tried to creat a view with all columns

You are using AddResponse in your XPath there is no element named like that.

Passing values to subreport in SSRS throwing an error - Data Retrieval failed for the report, please check the log for more details.

I have the subreport calling from the main report. The subreport is based on MDX query agianst the SSAS cube. some dimensions in cube has values 0 and 1.
when I try to pass '0' to the sub report as the parameter value, it gives an error "Data Retrieval failed for the report, please check the log for more details".
Actually I am using table for storing these parameter values. In the main report I am calling this table (dataset) and passing these values to subreport.
so I have given like [0],[1] and this works fine. when I give only either [0] or [1] then it is throwing an error.
Could you please advise on this.

Based on the current description, I understand that there is no issue if you pass two values from main report to subreport, while the issue occurs when passing one value to subreport.
To narrow down the issue, I want to confirm whether the subreport can run if there is only [0] or [1] in the subreport. If so, it indicates the query statements exist error in the subreport. If it’s not the case, this shows the issue occurs during passing
values from main report to subreport. To make further analysis, please post the details of query statements of the subreport to the forum.

Mapping values from the payload in the standard error message in PI 7.31

I am working on files that are very large and when such a file fails with some error ,it becomes very difficult to track exactly for which record it is failing.
For example if the file has 6000 records and the problem is at 641st record,it takes a lot of time to identify which is the 641st record even with Notepad++.
One of the ways this can be taken care is if we can add any unique value from the record say "employee id" and add it in the error that we receive in the alert message.
Please let me know if any one has handled a similar situation or implemented any other solution to reduce delays in error analysis.

We have a dual stack installation but we have developed the Interface using only java stack.
In this case if we use SALERT_CREATE and define container variables in ALRTCATDEF,will it work?
Also the source xsd for all the Interfaces is same ,so we were thinking when a message fails at say Record[50],then we can take the 50th employee id and display it in the alert.
Do you have an idea if this is possible?

When user clicks on "Advance Search", i am redirecting to page in the community. At the same i am adding some more values to the query string (to the URL).
My URL will look like this.

Failed to retrieve data from the database Error

I had some reports setup in Crystal XI based on a Sql server but recently we had an upgrade, the database has been moved to IBM Informix.
There is a certain table that seems to be causing the problem.
The error:
"Failed to retrieve data from the database
Details: 42000:[informix][informix ODBC Driver][informix]A syntax error has occured .[Database Vendor Code:-201]".
I run the same query in MS Access and it seems to run fine.
I even tried to do a simple dump of the table onto Crystal but no luck.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
It seems your ODBC Driver is not compatible, try to download a driver which supports Informix through CR XI. I think you may have to download Data Direct Drivers 5.1 version to access Informix data tables through CR XI.

I have an application using CR XI R2, and on certain users computers when they try to run a report they get the following error:
Failed to retrieve data from the database.Details: [Database Vendor Code: 229]Failed to retrieve data from the database.Error in File C:\DOCUME1\turkj\LOCALS1\Temp\WhseEmpJobAndActivityByUserAndDate {22DA2F53-4391-4307-9F2A-0E3C3EBE2198A}.rpt
The report uses SQLOLEDB (ADO) and integrated authentication - it runs fine on the development machine.
I found very little info on this error on the web (google) - so I hope someone here has an idea.

You need to make sure that those systems can get conneted to the database that is supposed to return data. To check that create a udl in clients machine.
Also do not change the schema of he report.

I have a fairly simple report that correctly retrieves the data from the database providing that there are no selection formula.
However, as soon as I add the record selection formula:
{fireService.serviceDate} >= DateTime (2009, 10, 3, 0 ,0 ,0)
I get the following errors:
Failed to retrieve data from the database
Cannot determine the queries necessary to get data for this report. Details: An invalid range operator has been encountered.
However, when I use the Database / Show SQL Query option and copy the query directly into the sql query analyser it works perfectly.
Any ideas?

I am using a table to select the records from.
In fact it is a series of joined tables.

It looks complext but is not. Most of these joins reference lookup tables.

Error retrieving data from the web server in Excel fo BPC

Hello Everybody,
I'm working with BPC v7.5 , i created some reports with the EVDRE formula and they were working perfectly.
The problem started when i created new users, that in fact have the same access profile and task profile as my user.
i started to test these new users in excel and every time i expand the report this legend appears: " EVDRE Retrying... EVDRE encountered an error retrieving data from the Web Server. Retrying in (X) Seconds...". After waiting a while a push cancel, then appears a window with the legend: Ev4excel Addin, Errors found retriening data.
The funny thing is that when i login back to my user everything works fine again, any idea what could be the problem? the other user have the same permissions.

very strange. Normally the member access profile must be diifferent. So it is not important the task profile but the member access profile. Can you please double check ?
If you are doing a simple EVDRE with users having problems is it working or you still have problems?

EVDRE encountered an error retrieving data from the Web Server

Hi,
I'm working on a presales AppSet "Demo5b".
When I create a brand-new EVDRE report on FINANCE app, there is no problem.
However, after changing to ICMATCHING app, when I type =EVDRE() on a blank sheet and press Refresh, the following message pops up.
EVDRE encountered an error retrieving data from the Web Server
Retrying in (??) seconds
Any idea why this happens and how it can be solved?

I have the same problem. When I try to retrieve data on an input schedule is launched that error.
I am working on an VM on MS BPC.
I am not working with cubes so the solution is not the same.
If i process all my dimensions this error does not appear any more?

a non e-learning output
and loading the published swf file in custom built flash
movie (wrapper).
We have accessed some of the captivate variables to control
the captivate swf.
