Error in Timeline Viewer, Affecting Overall Project

Hello,
I'm using the most updated version of FCP 6. Yesterday I encountered a problem in which the audio already placed in a sequence (and subsequently a timeline) does not playback, as if the audio clips are missing (dead silence, even with linked video clips). Yet, in a few sequences audio does playback, but as if it has been slowed down to about 80% of its normal speed. This problem occurs no matter which project is open, and even if a new project has been created and different audio files have been imported.
The problem did not occur in the middle of editing, but rather on a normal startup of FCP. In addition, I am now getting the "Warning - Dropped Frames" window upon playback. The funny thing is that playback occurs normally when I view the clips in the Viewer:Slug that is associated with the Browser.
Now, I haven't changed any system or user settings between FCP startups, nor have I installed anything new onto my mac. My FCP settings don't exceed the capabilities of my system, and I'm not using any imported graphics or the like. I have done FCPRESCUE, updated FCP to version 6.0.4, lowered real-time preferences, scanned the forums, etc., and I'm completely stumped. I've never encountered a problem like this.
Any suggestions to possible causes for this? Many thanks in advance for just taking the time to read.

For an update...
I looked deeper into the external media issue, and it seems that it is where the problem is stemming from. Opening Finder and previewing the capture scratch files provides no problem, yet attempting to access these files within FCP is still causing trouble. I might end up having to uninstall and reinstall FCP and see if that fixes it, but thank you Jim for pointing me in the right direction. Appreciate it.

The timeline view introduced in Project 2010. So it's not available in 2007.
If you are looking for high level view with only few details then applying filter to show summary tasks will help you.
There is also a report by name "Top Level" tasks which displays Summary Tasks details. You can change the content (using tables and task filters), time period (or unit), and details (including notes and objects), and you can sort the data in this report.
You can access it from Report menu >> Overview reports.

How to: Select a Specific Timeline Displayed in Project Online when having multiple timelines within the Enterprise Project

Currently I have an Enterprise Project which has 6 custom timelines and I want to know how to select a specific timeline to be displayed on the Project specific SharePoint site.
I'll provide some background for you so you understand my issues... I have created a "template" project with 6 custom timelines. From that project I created multiple new projects - which they all have the 6 custom timelines. These projects are
all stored in the Project Center. The problem I am having is I don't understand how to select a specific timeline to show on the project specific SharePoint site. They all seem to be displaying 1 of the 6 timelines (in no particular order). I was thinking
maybe if I had edited a project and saved it while it was displaying a specific timeline it would display the last selected timeline on the SharePoint site, but it doesn't seem to be doing that.
Is there a way to select a specific timeline to display on the SharePoint site? Also, is there a way for a user to cycle through the numerous timeline view on the project specific SharePoint site?

I ran into this problem at the company where I used to work. One of our PMs had created multiple Timeline views, and wanted a specific custom Timeline view to show up in the Project Site for that project. I could not see any way to make that
happen. We had one of our SharePoint developers look into the issue, and he could not see any way to make this happen either. So, I am thinking this is not possible to do. But I would gladly welcome others in this forum to tell us the trick,

Something happened, now I can't select clips in the timeline of my current project(in Elements 4)

I've been working on a project for a few days now, everything's been fine. Last night while editing, something happened when I was trying to add a transition between two clips. Now I can't select or edit any clips in the timeline anymore, and can't add new ones. When I click on the clips in the timeline, nothing happens. When I try to drag the select box around several of them, same thing. It acts like there's nothing to select. Same thing with right clicks, soundtrack mp3s, etc. The clips ARE still THERE though, and they all play fine in the preview screen in real time, and when I drag the slider back and forth along them.
All the clips are already rendered except the one transition I was adding when this started. When I hit 'Enter' to render, though, it says "Rendering 1 of 6 Audio Previews" instead of the usual x-number of video previews. I've not seen that before so it probably has something to do with all this.
It's ONLY with this one project. I can still edit and select clips in all my other projects as before.
I've already tried loading other projects and then coming back to this one, as well as closing the program and re-opening it. My current project is still stuck like this but the others are fine.
Please keep all this info in mind. This can't have anything to do with codecs or the clips being in the wrong format for the program. They're all regular AVI files and MP3s, I've been selecting and editing every single clip on this timeline dozens of times over the past few days with no problems. I'm just suddenly not able to select or edit them anymore or add anything new to the timeline, but they still play normally as previews.
I'm really hoping this is a simple thing where I've just tripped some setting and accidentally saved it that way and it can be easily changed back.

OK, then all that I suggested here:
Now, Exit from PrE, and Shutdown the computer completely. Wait a few moments, and then do a cold boot, launching PrE and Opening that Save_As Project. Do you now have the ability to edit the Clips on the Timeline?
If not, go to the location where you Copied the AutoSave folder, and view the files with Detail View ON. Then, look at the Date/Time of the files (probably will be 5 of them). Choose the last one written, Open that, and test. If no change, work backwards to the oldest.
If nothing is working, the only thing that comes to my mind would be an issue with the display driver, BUT that should affect all Projects, and not just this one. However, updating the video driver is always a good step, and should not hurt anything.
Note: many MP3's can cause all sorts of problems. I recommend always converting them to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, and replacing MP3's with those WAV files. One can use the great, free audio-editor, Audacity, to convert the MP3's.
If all of the above tests fail, let us know, and if you get any error, or warning messages, copy those down completely, and post those
all failed too?
If so, there is nothing that I can suggest. It seems that your Project is hosed, and is very likely not recoverable.

Windows is Scanning and repairing drive... (- Errors in Event Viewer)

Long post, please be patient... :)
I have a fairly new (purchased 8/2013) Lenovo ThinkPad T431s with Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (updated from 8.0 -> 8.1). It has a very tricky error coming basically 8 / 10 boots:
Windows is Scanning and repairing drive...
Error details from Windows Event Viewer (a new similar error appears on every boot to event viewer):
A corruption was discovered in the file system structure on volume \?\Volume{f62db2cf-efe4-4b55-a3f7-0e7db991a984}.
A file on the volume is no longer reachable from its parent directory. The parent file reference number is 0x2000000000002. The name of the parent directory is "". The parent index attribute is ":$I30:$INDEX_ALLOCATION". The file reference
number of the file that needs to be reconnected is 0x400000003db80. There may be additional files on the volume that also need to be reconnected to this parent directory.
What has been done 1st trying to fix that:
SSD disk has been changed (image from previous SSD copied back) ->
no solution, error remains
chkdsk /F /R -> no solution, error remains
SFC /scannow -> no solution, error remains
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth -> no solution, error remains after a few boots
TRIED using Windows 8.1 "Update & Recovery -> Refresh Your PC without affecting your files" -> Inserted the Lenovo "Operating System Recovery Disk Windows 8 Pro (OEM Activation 3.0 Required)" BUT Windows did not accept
that DVD claiming "The media inserted is not valid"... ???
Ended up calling Lenovo Support and they instructed me to order the Recovery DVD from
Lenovorecovery.com -> Unfortunatelly Windows does not recognice the DVD(s)...
mountvol returns:

What has happened in the past days:
A) Lenovo on-site-Support changed the motherboard -> had no impact on the error (which I expected).
B) I found
instructions how to manually create USB Flash stick with a booting Custom (OEM) Recovery Image.
C) Booted with USB and performed "Refresh your PC without affecting your files."
D) Windows was refreshed but...

Summary:
- Refreshing my T431s with OEM Image does not help
- The error remains on \?\Volume{f62db2cf-efe4-4b55-a3f7-0e7db991a984} (\Device\HarddiskVolume5; Lenovo Recovery partition) OR at least Windows thinks so...

Audio tracks missing in the timeline viewer

Hello,
I am using Imovie 4.0.1 and have been working on a project for several months and now towards the homestretch, I have lost the ability to see the audio tracks that I added to the project. I am referring to the 2nd and 3rd tracks on the timeline viewer. This isn't a killer as I have completed all of my editing and am ready to export it to my camera (to then reimport, seperate audio, and then lock--to make sure audio and video matches up) The problem is that when I export to the camera, the audio comes and goes, and some of the video stutters at times. It seems that this all might be related. Has my imovie become corrupted? All of the projects that I have worked on in the past--that are still on this computer--exhibit the same thing i.e. I can't see the audio tracks and the editing arrows (and other items) have disappeared from underneath the viewing area.
I would appreciate any help.

com.apple.imovie3.plist is what you should have found because you are using imovie 4.
And, a new .plist should have been made by imovie when you re-launched it-so that's OK.
Sounds like you have enough HD space...are you sure you are using the Timeline viewer and not the Clip viewer?

I would first check the "query" information of the DBA_SNAPSHOTS/DBA_MVIEWS dictionary views if it reveals anything obvious.
But it looks more like an internal error while processing the refresh. You can get more information about the error by tracing the session. A "alter session set sql_trace = true;" before running the refresh should be sufficient. Disconnect afterwards and check the generated trace file for errors either using "tkprof" and checking the output or by manually searching for "err=" in the trace file.
Which 4-digit version of Oracle are you using?

Open in Timeline-how to return to timeline view?

If you select a clip in the timeline and want to see it in close detail, you can right-click to open a menu of options that include "Open in Timeline." Once there, you are seeing a complete view of the whole clip with the trimmed section clear and the ends grayed down.
But this has me stumped. How do you jump right back to the full Timeline edit view? That menu has no ability to return you from whence you came. I have to click on the Project Library, select the current edit again and only then does it open the regular Timeline view.
I can't find anything in the scant Help document and "Open in Timeline" doesn't find anything here.
Any clue as to how to dismiss it?
Escape doesn't work. Undo doesn't work. Well, it does, but it undo's any changes I make, first. None of the other ideas in that drop-down menu seem to help.
Is this a left turn into a one-way cul-de-sac?

Bad news - There are non (Exactly as in iMovie 1 to HD6 or FinalCut)
Good news - There are sort of - at least project is presented in ONE row.
• Click on a specific iMovie PROJECT
• In this window - top right hand there are two small symbols - one blue three squares and one with two brown red symbols. Click on the three blue squares one.
• to get the Audio - under this there is a small wave like symbol - Click on this.
But still this view has so many quirks that a person familiar with iMovie 1 to HD6, FinalCut, Adobe Premiere and Avid can feel a bit of serious frustration. (at least I do)

Possible to take user to a certain view in the Project Center

Is is possible to take a user via a link to a specific view in the Project Center? If not is it possible to flip the view via code when a user logs into the Project Center?

Is this Project Server 2010 or 2013 ? In 2010 Have you tried providing permissions for the user on a specific view ?

How to modify the timescale on the Timeline view in MSP 2010

I created Timeline's for some projects using MSP 2010. Some Tinelines display quarters and others display months. I can't find an option to change the Timeline timescale. I tried switching the timescale onthe Gantt view but it
had no effect on the Timeline view.
Is there a direct or indirect way to change the timescale units on the Tineline view time scale?

Click in the Timeline view and the ribbon bar for Timeline will be activated. On the left side you should see Date Format. Use this to select the date format you would like to view.
As i adjust the timescale using the zoom in the lower right corner it seems to be adjusting the date density. Keep in mind that this view will also adjust to the density necessary to show the entire project in the view. When you click on the
View tab (ribbon) you can use the option for the entire project. Note that the Timescale options are not available.
I suggest for the best use of this view to use it at a high level. What I recommend is to show summary and milestone taaks only.

Dragging clips to timeline viewer

Does anyone know why I get a message such as "this may take a while" when i attempt to drag a clip from the clips pane to the timeline viewer?" It does take a looooong time. I don't remember this happening in earlier iMovie versions.
Sometimes it also starts to "letterbox" when i do the same thing. And you can't stop these actions.

You can change the Letterboxing in the preference of iMovie:
Import/ automatic conversion from pillarbox to letterbox - you need to un-check it.
To keep from waiting for it to Letterbox, change the settings to DV Widescreen when you open a new project -If you do record in 16:9 aspect ratio.

Wondering if anyone could answer... The setup is the same (XP SP3, Coherence 3.7.1.0). GetValues(null) returns different number of values every time.
More information: the serialized type has just one string property X; push 40000 such items into cache, then making GetKeys(null) followed by GetValues(null) call with 1 sec interval (cache is pre-populated with 40000 items, no insertions/deletions happening):
Keys 40000, Values 20377.
Cache is just one storage enabled proxy with schema taken from Coherence example configuration.
I understand, calling GetValues with null argument is not the smartest thing to do, but the problem is that it affects the number of items returned by the GetValues with a filter passed...

Your problem seems to be about the list of projects in JDeveloper when there are many projects..
My problem is very different because I have only 3 projects in the application and the problem occurs when deploying to manually added Integrated Web Logic Installation with the domain that I created (not the DefaultDomain created by JDeveloper)..
In any case, I tried to delete system11.1.1.5.37.60.13, start JDeveloper, and it re-creates the folder. I then re-create the additional IntegratedWebLogic server instance in the application server navigator and try to run my application using that instance of integrated web logic.
The error still happens.

Viewing and idvd project on another computer

How would you be able to get your dvd to appear on any computer before the state of it being burned into a dvd.
In addition, I am trying to show a teacher my dvd and he can't view it cause I use idvd 6 and his is idvd 4. How can I get it to view on idvd 4? And would the error happen also with idvd 5?

And welcome to apple discussions. Don't think it's possible to view an iDVD project in the works on a PC to the best of my knowledge. The only way I am aware of to view an iDVD prior to the burn stage on the computer (mac only) and assuming you have the same version of iDVD loaded to multiple macs is thru the iDVD preview function or thru a disk image that will play on a mac (not sure if a disk image will also play on a PC or not) assuming the mac system also meets the specs for the iDVD app/version you are currently using.
You can create an iDVD4 project on your mac and then if another mac has a later version of the same app (iDVD only), it will automatically update the project folder to the iDVD version/ mac you are working on. But once this is updated, you can't reverse or show an iDVD5 on a machine that only has iDVD4 (w/o also updating the app on said machine to iDVD5) Same thing applies when working on or viewing an iDVD5 to iDVD6. You can go forward but never backwards.

Timeline viewer problems

When I watch my project in the timeline viewer it doesn't play properly, it skips sections and stops. It's impossible to do anything but it works fine in the clip viewer.

It will be interesting to see your system configuration. I think it is a question of processor capacity with iMovie requiring a little more in the timeline viewer.
It will perform better if you also minimise the number of applications running at the same time.
In any case I'm sure it will be fine when you export it.
