Error installing ARES 7 to linux
Hello,
While installing ARES v7 to Linux RHEL 3.0, I am getting the following error after specifying my rights credential file:
"Executing Java Method initializeUIDeployTypeSelect on class class com.installshield.ares_suite_installer.event.dialog.swing.PanelDeployTypeSelect. The method does not exist or does not accept the proper parameters."
I have tried setting JAVA_HOME to the JDK in our Websphere installation (per instructions) and to a separate IBM v1.4.2 JDK. I get the error either way.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Greg
If you are using the Easy configuration Wizard, in step 2, you should remove the signtool.jar file or the installation will fail. If you are doing the Expert configuration Wizard, ensure that if you have more than one product (Security Server or Policy Server) that you are using the correct signtool.jar file as they are different (even though they are named the same).

Your error says that there is no x-server that can handle the display you are trying to create by launching the installer.
You need to read up on how to start and connect to x-servers. The easiest would be installing vncserver, ssh into the server as oracle, run the command "+vncserver+", supply a password and make a note of a display string.
On your client machine (e.g. Windows/Ubuntu/Mac) you download and install vncviewer - you then execute this viewer, and supply it with the display string and password to connect to to virtual Oracle GUI display on the server. Once connected, you run the installer inside that. -

Error Installing Oracle 9i on Linux. Please help.
Hi folks,
While installing Oracle 9i on RedHat Linux 8.0, I am unable to configure and start and listener process. The error message it throws back is that "unable to configure as the information provided is being used by another software. Unless that conflict is resolved, you will not be able to start the listener process...blah blah blah...".
Can somebody please help me understand this problem and resolve it.
Thanks in advance.
Rajesh.By the way I forgot to include the information about the listener configuration that I was trying to setup.
Listener Name : LISTENER
Protocol : TCP
Port # : 1521.
I also tried couple of other port number, but it did not work. So to make sure that these port numbers are really not locked by other software, I connected as root and executed the following command
netstat -a | grep 1521 (and other numbers also that I tried using).
Found that these ports were really not locked by anyone else.
Thanks.

Version error installing SOA on Oracle Linux
Hi,
I'm trying to install Oracle SOA Suite 10g (10.1.3.1.0, soa_linux_x86_101310_disk1.cpio) on Oracle Linux 5, but I'm getting the following error:
Checking operating system version: must be redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS rele

ux ES release 3, redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 or SuSE-9

Is Oracle Linux not compatible with SOA? My understanding is that Oracle Linux 5 is basically Redhat 4:
cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.18-53.el5 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-52)) #1 SMP Sat Nov 10 18:24:52 EST 2007.
Thanks,
YiYou require a patch 6339508 which provides replacement pre-requisite tests. To use it you need to add two parameters to the runInstaller command as shown below.
./runInstaller PREREQ_CONFIG_LOCATION=<PATCH_LOC>/prereq –paramFile <PATCH_LOC>/oraparam.ini
PATCH_LOC is the location where you unzipped the 6339508 patch. With these new parameters the installer correctly recognizes Oracle Enterprise Linux as a supported platform. Note that OEL needs some specific patches when used with SOA Suite and these need to be installed prior to running the installer. Check the documentation for details.

Any help would be deeply appriciated!${s_avadm} ${s_avauditor}
Would be the avadmin and the avauditor accounts that you specified during the install. In the basic install, it usually is avadmin and avauditor
${s_dvownerarg} ${s_dvacctmgr}
These are the Oracle Database Vault owner and account manager accounts specified during the install. In the basic install is avadmindvo and avadmindva.
Make sure that you run this as a unix user that is part of the DBA group and please make sure that you don't have - (hyphen) in the host name. If so, then you need to apply a patch 7242648

cannot install oracle vpn on linux getting error kernel-sourcecode is needed by gds_cisco_vpn_client-2.0-llrhel4.i386.. i already installed kernel-devel still it get the same error. pls help.
1. kernel (.rpm)
2. kernel-devel (.rpm) - containing only Makefiles and some kernel header files
3. kernel source rpm (src.rpm) - source for rebuilding the kernel
4. kernel-sourcecode (.rpm) - source-tree for developing custom kernels
are four different packages.
If you are running OEL-4 (2.6.9 kernel) and you have an ULN account, you can download kernel-sourcecode rpm from ULN. There is no kernel-sourcecode for OEL-5 available on ULN site.

Error while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0
Hi All,
This error appears while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0
http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=errorso9.pngTry locate (using find command for example) the libjvm.so file (I assume that is located somewhere under $ORACLE_HOME (probably jdk or jre directory)). If you locate the path where this library resides, try to add that path to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable.
Use copy&paste method (for error message) rather than link to image.
It is much quicker operation and it may help to other people because they be able to find this thread via search engine. -
Error while installing OWB on Redhat Linux
Hi,
I installed Oracle database on Linux , while installing oracle i got error
error while writing to directory /tmp/OraInstall<date> please ensure that this directory is writable and has atleast 60mb of disk space. Installation can not continue
then i did some thing and it went thru, now i am trying to install the OWB again i am getting the same error and i was browsing net past 2 days for a solution but i din't get one
while installing oracle i have not made any notes, that was my mistake
Please suggest me the possible solution or the Document which can guide me
Thanks in Advance
SureshHi,
the problem is the logfile for the installation. Every oracle installtion writes a log file with this name in a predefined directory. Make the directory /tmp writable for oracle and extend the disk quota at least 60 MB.

What is going on here?
Is there another way to access Creative Cloud download and installation?

That is the critical step.
After re-execute the root.sh file
Has been known to reset the permissions from the previous step - bug in some patch releases.
Suggest OP records permissions for those two files before running root.sh Or run root.sh before setting the permissions. -

When I ran xterm, I got can't open dispaly. xhost + also dosn't work. Is that ok that I can install oracle in a linux that is installed in windows virtual server? What value can I set to DISPLAY value?
Thank in advance.Linux 9? You mean the one that was end-of-lifed in 2004? (Just checking ...)
If yes, you gotta decide whether it's the 'Linux 9 Boxed Version' or the 'Linux 9 Download Version'. The two have completely different compiler and glibc packages that are incompatible. Fix that incompatibility - relative to Oracle's needs - and you will be able to make Oracle9i limp along.
