ERROR - JBO-25005: Object name for type View Object is invalid
Hi All,
I am getting this error "JBO-25005: Object name for type View Object is invalid" while executing my VO query in Controller code. Can any one please tell me the reason behind this error?
I am creating a VO dynamically and .xml file of a VO is placed in a proper directly. Please let me know some inputs to resolve this.
Thanks & Regards,
-Abm
I found the below explanation for the error mentioned. Check if your package name, Object names confirm to the standard specified
JBO-25005: InvalidObjNameException
Cause: An attempt has been made to associate a business component name with an object for which it is not valid.
Action: The name should be a valid Java identifier with no spaces or punctuation. Names are of the format myProjectPackage.BusinessPackage.BusinessComponent

please helpSomewhere the View Attribute you are referring in your page/region is incorrect. Start looking into the page where the issue comes first and select all the view instances and View attributes once again. Also if there is any messagechoice make sure the view definition name path is correct and so are the instance and value attribute names.

How do I programmatically get the display name for a view object in Java?
When you define a view object, there is a display name that is configured. I would like to retrieve that in Java. Can someone tell me how?
Thanks, -KlausKlaus,
you can use the attribute definitions which you get using
getAttributeDefs
AttributeDef[] getAttributeDefs()This method is accessible via the vo.
If you need this information in a bean, you can use EL like you see if you drop a vo on a page.

How to find Object name for a object?
Hi Experts,
How to find Object name for a particular Object? Is there a Tcode for it?
__Like Object name for__
Material number - materialnr
Goods receipts / return - matbeleg
Accounting documents - rf_beleg
How to find Object name for other Objects? Is there a particular way?
Thanks & Regards
ChandanHi,
You can find objects in SNRO transaction.
In SNRO search by giving long text...
for eg., Service .. for service entry sheet. keep the first letter in capital letter only.
Thanks & Regards,

JBO-25036: An invalid object operation was invoked on type View Object...
Hi,
Jdev 11.1.1.3 with BC & RC.
HR Schema - Employees & Departments Table.
In EmployeesViewImpl class overriding prepareVOForQuery() for adding dynamic where clause.
@Override
public void prepareVOForQuery() {
DepartmentsViewImpl deptImpl = new DepartmentsViewImpl();
int deptid = deptImpl.deptID(); //custom method in DepartmentsViewImpl returning deptid based on some condition
setWhereClause("DEPARTMENT_ID = :bvdeptid");
defineNamedWhereClauseParam("bvdeptid", null, null);
setNamedWhereClauseParam("bvdeptid", deptid);
super.prepareVOForQuery();
public int deptID(){
//return "IT_PROG";
int int_deptid = 0;
Row[] depts = this.getAllRowsInRange();
for(int i=0 ; i < depts.length; i++){
Row row = depts;
String deptname = (String)row.getAttribute("DepartmentName");
if(deptname.equalsIgnoreCase("it")){
Number deptid = (Number)row.getAttribute("DepartmentId");
int_deptid = deptid.intValue();
break;
return int_deptid;
// The error is coming
JBO-25036: An invalid object operation was invoked on type View Object with name DepartmentsViewImpl_2
Can I call a custom method deptID() like above, in EmployeesViewImpl class from DepartmentsViewImpl?
I need to change query based on some condition on page load in real scenario. I used beforePhase() but not giving perfect result.
What is best way to do this, similar to above case. However, providing plain value giving no error.
Thanks.Hi!
This doesn't work that way:
DepartmentsViewImpl deptImpl = new DepartmentsViewImpl();Take a look at ApplicationModule#findViewObject() if your DepartmentsView is already in your data model, executed, and you want to re-use it.
Otherwise take a look at ApplicationModule#createViewObject().
Besides that, if you want to execute a VO, then call executeQuery() on it, don't rely on other operations like first() or getAllRowsInRange() to implicitly execute it for you.
And: Why not use Number all the way through? Why the conversion to int? It will work in that example, since department ID is only NUMBER( 4 ). What if the ID column was a NUMBER( 22 )? int cannot handle that, not even close, so you should not make it a habit to convert to int.

Bizarre behavior of a View Criteria for a View Object
Hey,
I remarked quite a bizarre behavior of the View criteria that I created for my view object, using bind variables.
lets say I have the generated query in the View object:
SELECT Paquet.ID,
Paquet.WEIGHT,
Paquet.VALUE,
Paquet.ORIGIN,
Paquet.DESTINATION
FROM PAQUET Paquet
I want to use the executeWithParams with bind variables for this View object.
I create a bind variable:p_o
I create the View Criteria vith the visual editor that generates an additional view clause:
( ( ( Paquet.ORIGIN LIKE ('%' || :p_o || '%') ) OR ( :p_o IS NULL ) ) )
test query works and explain plan as well.
Now, when I execute the view object on a page with the bind variable properly set, I get the error: java.sql.SQLException: Attempt to set a parameter name that does not occur in the SQL: p_o
Then I copy the where clause generated by view criteria visual edito directly to the query and delete the View Criteria, and it ALL WORKS FINE
If has to work like that, then what is the View Criteria useful for? I still think that there is a problem.
Thanks!
TaaviHi,
ViewCriterias are not accessed with ExecuteWith Params. For this the bind variable needs to be in the where clause. Named ViewCriterias are listed separately in the DC list

Hi All,
following piece of code was working fine in 4.6 C but in ECC 6.0 I get the following error:
" "END_OF_RECORD" must be a character-type data object (data type C, N,D, T or STRING) . "
I tried type-casting with field symbols but still not able to remove the error. Cannot convert end_of_record directly to type C as it may hamper the functionality. Plz advice how to remove the error without converting type x to type C
In the following code :

Setting bind variable for a view object from the Managed Bean
Hi,
i am using JDeveloper 11g, i have to create LOV in the JSF. To show the LOV, it has to populate data using View object and its query parameter need to be sent from the Managed Bean.
For the View object i want to set the bind variable parameter from the managed bean value. bename is stored in a managed bean (session scope)
#{beantest.bename}
But it gives the following exception.
JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught:
org.codehaus.groovy.control.MultipleCompilationErrorsException,msg=startup failed, Script1.groovy: 1: expecting '!',found '{'@ line1, column 2.
I have followed the link http://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=615474 like Frank wrote on 8.2.2008:
But steps are not clear.
How to input the VO bind parameter with Managed bean variable?
Any Help
Regards
Raj
Edited by: user9928180 on Dec 17, 2008 9:51 AMHi,
a bind variable in a VO needs to be exposed as an executeWithParams operation in the pageDef file. Just add a new action binding to the pageDef file (context menu) and select the executeWithParams operation on teh VO. Then in the argument field, reference the managed bean property for the value

How to use SPEL for Dynamic View Objects?
Hi Gurus,
In Benefits Self Service particularly in the Designate Beneficiaries page, we have a requirement to set the row for Self designation as Read Only. What this means for any plan that you're eligible and that requires beneficiary designation, you are not allowed to designate yourself. Unfortunately this is an intended functionality and the only way to achieve our requirement is thru Personalization. I was able to accomplish this successfuly thru the SPEL functionality. However the view object corresponding to each plan that requires beneficiary designation is somewhat dynamic. For example, Plan A corresponds to BeneficiaryPeopleVO1, Plan B corresponds to BeneficiaryPeopleVO2, Plan C corresponds to BeneficiaryPeopleVO3, etc. The Personalization Page only allows me to use the SPEL for only one view object at a time. So if an employee is eligible for 3 plans that require beneficiary designation and my SPEL points to BeneficiaryPeopleVO1, it will only set the Read Only in Plan A. Plan B and Plan C would still allow self designation. Is there a way I could use the SPEL to work for all View Objects?
Thanks,

I've seen things like this in scripting languages, so I was wondering if things like this are possible in java. Here is an not working example:
Is something like this possible ?AFAIK, it is only possible in a very limited way as noted above and is nearly always not recommended and definitely not necessary. The variable name has little importance, but OTOH the object reference has great importance. Instead learn about arrays, Lists, and Maps. -

I tried again to see the database in Data Guard Broker:
DGMGRL> show database 10gSB
Object "10gsb" was not found
however, I then was able to add the database in Data Guard Broker:
DGMGRL> add database 10gSB
as connect identifier is 10gSB
maintained as physical;Database "10gsb" added <== this is progress!!!
However the configuration shows the following:
DGMGRL> show database 10gSB
Database
Name: 10gsb
Role: PHYSICAL STANDBY
Enabled: NO
Intended State: OFFLINE
Instance(s):
10gSB
Current status for "10gsb":
DISABLED <=====
So I tried to enable the database:
DGMGRL> enable database 10gSB
Error: ORA-16626: failed to enable specified object
Failed.
and I tried to reinstate the database:
DGMGRL> reinstate database 10gSB
Reinstating database "10gsb", please wait...
Error: ORA-16653: failed to reinstate database
Failed.
Reinstatement of database "10gsb" failed
So I checked the configuration and now see two entries for the standby database but with case differences:
DGMGRL> show configuration
Configuration
Name: orcl10g
Enabled: YES
Protection Mode: MaxPerformance
Fast-Start Failover: DISABLED
Databases:
orcl10g - Primary database
10gSB - Physical standby database
10gsb - Physical standby database (disabled)
Current status for "orcl10g":
SUCCESS
Question: How do I get rid of 10gSB and enable 10gsb?

I'm using Safari on Mac OS X 10. I've got a 3 mb .swf on a web page. It seems that if I hit a "refresh" on the browser, it loads the whole thing from the beginning, with the progress bar and everything. I don't have anything set to clear the cache as
