Error Message on 1610 All-In-One

Flashing message Error:0x8814ale1:BI(15;15*B8D
Not sure if this code is correct. I've tried taking out cartridges, unplugging. There is a failure in the paper alignment and it just flashes this code.

Hey Chuck,
I guess you're using either an HP95 or HP97 cartridge right?
One of the most common causes of this would dirty contacts between your printer and cartridge. I'd take the cartridge out and clean the electrical contacts to see if that helps to begin with.

  • False paper jam error message on Officejet All-in-Ones

I've been helping a not-so-techie friend with his J6450 false paper jam errors.  He's now on his second one (got replacement from HP) and has same exact problem.  (We think the paper sensor is getting stuck and causing error message.)
His problem is by no means unique.  I have looked at customer reviews for this printer on many vendors' websites, and have seen horrible reviews of HP's all-in-ones because of the false paper jam error message.  By the way, none of the suggestions here seem to fix the problem, so don't waste your time uninstalling and re-installing the software.  The problem is mechanical.
With so many posts regarding false paper jam errors on these HP All-in-Ones, HP should replace these printers with a different model that does NOT have this problem, if such a model exists, at no charge, of course.

I have just spent the last 3 hours thinking I have been overlooking paper somewhere in my J6450 after consistently getting a paper jam error.  Of course my warranty has expired!  Just wondering if it would be worth fixing OR NOT?

  • Remove and check cartridge on right error message on 7410 all in one

I recently changed the black ink cartridge in my 7410 all in one printer. After changing cartridge it gave me an error message of " Remove and check cartridge on right". I have tried removing and reinstalling , cleaning connection points with clean damp cloth (water) and still cannot get error message to go away.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I know this is an older thread but being it is a top Google result associated with the "Remove and check cartridge on right" error it justifies adding a helpful suggestion for other.  Our findings have been HP Printers are very biased against refilled \ recycled cartridges.  I own a total of (5)x HP 7310 and HP 7410 printers in my IT Consulting office.  These are feature rich MFP’s with an abundant supply of ink available at generously economical prices.  On the face of it, it sounds like a good reason to keep a bevy of last gen printers around. EXCEPT the printers work great with the $30-$50 brand new HP brand 96 cartridges from Office Depot or Staples.  Unfortunately if you try and buy some recycled cartridges off ebay the Printers detect the recycled\refilled cartridges as a previously depleted HP cartridge that may not be genuine and the units suddenly turn on you.  Miraculously the "Remove and check cartridge on right" only manifests itself with non-HP brand cartridges or cartridges that have been refilled.  (We have even tried to re-fill out own refreshly depleted cartridges with like results.)  Think of it as an HP service reminder conveying you forgot to pay HP their $30-$50 profit on your ink this go round.  Remember you need HP Branded ink cartridges (HP = Homogeneously Proprietary).  It’s like an intention flaw written into the firmware.  Best guess (purely on conjecture) is there is a check in the firmware/drivers for if the cartridges has been previously installed, previously depleted, max install count, and expiration date validation.  If it encounters a condition it doesn’t like you get this nondescript error.

The above post is filled with conjecture and speculation, but is not based on fact.  The Officejet7410 is not programmed to reject refilled/reman cartridges.  It will check cartridges electrically for various things and will reject cartridges that fail.  Typical failures would include a cracked printhead (caused by rough treatment - dropping the cartridge even a few inches for example), or open electrical connections caused by   debris on the cartridge contacts.  Cleaning the cartridge contacts as shown in the document here may resolve the issue in case of poor electrical contacts.
A cartridge that has been previously used in a different printer will likely be marked as empty, but the printer will happily print with a cartridge detected as empty.
The reality is that the quality of refill and reman cartridges are very variable, but generally poor.  The study here has a study conducted by a testing facility, here is another study.
My personal experience has been similar.  I donated an HP all-in-one to my son's high school years ago.  Sometime later I got a call from the teacher complaining that it was not printing properly.  I went and took a look and found they had put in a renam color cartridge that was not printing one of the colors*. They tried another cartridge, which also had a problem and then finally the third cartridge worked.  I asked why they used renam cartridges and he said they bought these because they were cheaper.  I asked if they were 1/3 the cost....
*The color missing had nothing to do with the printer - blotting the bad cartridge on a damp tissue gave only two of the three colors that would normally be present.

  • Error Message on 7520 All In One Set up on MAC

    I have tried several times to install the drivers for the HP 7520 on my MAC (10.9.5 Mavericks).  Each time I get this error message;
The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update.
The printer will still print fine, but it will not capture images when scanning or copying.  Does anyone have suggestions for a fix?

    Hi @angcavallaro
The path /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext points to an issue with the operating system.
Kext files are essentially drivers for Mac OS X. "Kext" stands for Kernel Extension; kext files "extend" Mac OS X's kernel, the core part of the operating system, by providing additional code to be loaded when your computer boots..... Technically, kexts aren't individual files. In fact, .kext "files" are essentially packaged like .zip files. - Source
    I suggest repairing your disk permissions using the following steps;
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer and try scanning again.
You may even need to uninstall and reinstall the HP Software. Let me know if you need help with this.
    What are permissions?
Every file and folder on a Mac OS X hard drive has a set of permissions —settings that determine which user(s) have access to each item, and exactly what that access is. For example, permissions dictate whether or not a particular user can open and edit a particular file. But permissions also determine which items the operating system—or specific parts of it—can access and modify, and which files are accessible by applications.
    What does repairing permissions do?
The Repair Disk Permissions function—the process that actually performs the task of repairing permissions—examines certain files and folders on your Mac’s hard drive to see if their current permissions settings are what Mac OS X expects them to be; if discrepancies are found, the offending permissions are changed to match the expected settings. - Source
If repairing the disk permissions does not resolve the issue, you may need to delete the particular .Kext that is causing the error, I suspect doing an Apple update after would reinstall the missing .Kext, BUT, since I work on behalf of HP and not Apple, my area of expertise is not with the Apple operating systems in's and out's. I think, if repairing the disk permissions does not resolve the issue you should either reach out to the Apple Community or call Apple support.

  • Error message on C7280 all in one 0xc18a0201

    Hi
Printer was working okay but after changing 2 ink cartridges, genuine HP products, I get the above message and can no longer print, copy or fax. Additional message is that the ink carriage has stalled. Following instructions to power down and back up again does not resolve the problem. Can anyone help please?
    Nigel

Peter Thank you for the information. Unfortunately the suggested solutions failed. The identified problem is that the optics are faulty which I find strange for a machine less than two years old and rarely used as a printer. Indications are that it would be more expensive to repair than to replace. Anyone who can provide a supplier of spare parts for less than £150 I would be most welcome to hear from. Alternatively there is a C7280 going for scrap unless someone wants ift for spare parts. Nigel

  • Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer

Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer:
I had a paper jam and cleared the paper from the printer.  Now every time I turn the printer "on" it picks up the top piece of paper from the tray and runs it about ½  to ¾ of the way thru the paper feed, stops, and then displays message "paper jam clear paper and then press OK".  When I do that it simply picks up the next piece of paper off the tray and does the message again.  If I push the OK button on the printer it will simply finish the ejection and then pick up the next paper from the tray, and do the same thing.  I have examined the interior (and exterior) of the printer for paper scraps and  any other obvious sign of trouble (dirty drive wheels, missing rollers, broken springs, etc...) and can not see anything unusual. I can not print a test print because of the paper jam message.  I am running Windows XP and the printer has been working fine for months (until this recent jam).  I did all the steps from the HP fix it site including clean rollers, plug and unplugged,  carriage travel OK and more. Don't know what to do now........Any help would be great!!!!   Thank you!

  • Can I share HP PSC 1610 All-In-One series printer through Bonjour?

I have an iBook G4, and a Mac Mini (10.4.11- Tiger) with a HP PSC 1610 All In One series printer connected to it by USB. On my iBook G4, the printer comes up under Shared Printers in the Printer Setup Utility but when I click on it, and press Show Info it freezes.. so I was wondering, is there a way to connect to the printer wirelessly with the correct driver (because the driver doesn't show up in the driver list... and the driver is installed.)

What version of iTunes are you using?  The error you references seems to be connected with iTunes 9.0.4.  That version of iTunes is not compatible with iOS 6. You need to update to the current version of iTunes.

  • HP PSC 1610 All-In-One doesn't see that paper is loaded

HP PSC 1610 All-In-One doesn't see that paper is loaded and keeps asking me to load paper and press OK. I have done that per manual with no success. What's going on?
I am using an Intel MacBook running SnowLeopard

OK, I think this was among a series of "recalled" (years ago) printers where the feed rollers would become coated with a very slick substance that was outgassing from the rubber.  There was a cleaning kit made for this but I am not sure it is still available.  Instructions for it are here.
It the absence of the kit, you can clean the rollers manually by removing the rear door and scrubbing the three rollers with Scotchbrite.  Red was used in the kit, but green may be aggressive enough to do the job.  You may have to fiddle with the printer to clean the entire circumference of the three rollers.  Once you do this, you will be good to go for years to come!

  • Psc 1610 all-in-one

    Can I e-print to my HP PSC 1610 all-in-one?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi JudithAMorrison,
Just to add some extra clarification for you, your PSC 1610 is not able to ePrint, as it was released before HP applied the ePrint technology to their printers. Generally any of the new printers are ePrint capable, so if you are wanting to acquire an HP ePrint enabled printer you can contact HP Tech Support at 1-800-474-6836 and see what sort of deals they have to get you an ePrint enabled printer.
If you need anything further please let me know. Have a great day!
