Error Notification via email

I am trying to implement a robust email notification using a procedure and variables. It seems that when I use variables, I end up with errors (Invalid parameter usually). Here are two samples of code. One works, one does not...
Working
command:
OdiSendMail "-MAILHOST=mail.xxxx.com" "-FROM=[email protected]" "-SUBJECT=ODI Failure" "-TO=[email protected]"
ODI Session failed, please investigate!
Not Working ! Note,
command:
OdiSendMail "-MAILHOST=#HOST_SERVER" "-FROM=#FROM_EMAIL" "-SUBJECT=ODI Failure" "-TO=#TO_EMAIL"
#Logger_Check_Job_Run
Note, there are 4 parameters in the second example. I have tried substituting all the variables until all are hardcoded, and once all hardcoded, then it works. The order in which I substitute does not matter.
The #Logger_Check_Job_Run variable is the results of a query. The other variables have a hard coded value for now.
Any help or tips are greatly appreciated.
Scott

Hello,
sorry for breaking into your discussion.
Try to do this:
1) declare MAIL_SERVER variable
2) declare ODI_ADMIN_EMAIL variable
3) declare LOGGER_CHECK_JOB variable
3-5) set values to all variables
6) call procedure:
Jython, just single step with ignore errors flag set to yes
l = 'MAIL_SERVER = '+ '#MAIL_SERVER' + 'ODI_ADMIN_EMAIL = '+ '#ODI_ADMIN_EMAIL' + 'LOGGER_CHECK_JOB = '+ '#LOGGER_CHECK_JOB'
raise(l)
7) call your procedure
!!! check that you set the step 1) as the first step in the package !!!
Using the step 6) you can check if the variables have values that you expect. Try to "debug" and let us know if it helped.

One PM wants to be able to have notifications (via email) for any timesheet approvals requests /changes etc. But the other PMs do not want notifications via email, can i set this up for one PM only or is it set by group only?

Unfortunately as Sachin stated, there is no easy (meaning by configuration) way to send email alert for timesheet.
Another way would be to create a SSRS report and send it by email using the
out of the box subscription feature of SSRS.

  • Interfacing error notified via email

    Hi Gurus.
My client is going to implement interfacing between Mercia ( Third party software) to SAP for some functionality.
    The requirement is
The business will need to be notified via email or SAP Idoc when an error has occurred with Mercia or SAP that prevents users accessing the Mercia database, weekly schedule run, month end procedures, and any other interface failure. (depending upon the error should determine which method either email or Idoc)
How can user will recieved mail If interfacing program having some error.

    Hi,
    try using IDOCMSG business object.
Create a custom event to trigger to workflow. Find out some user exit or BAdi to trigger the workflow.
Then use a send mail step and send a notification to the desired user.

  • MDT deployment status notification via email

I'm trying to build a solution that sends an email report after every deployment. Atm I have orchestrator runbook executed after deployment that sends a detailed report via email (Computer name, serial, make, model etc.). This works very well (btw. Orchestrator
    is an awesome product!).
At the end of the task sequence MDT wizard shows how the deployment went (success, error, warnings)
What I dont know is how could I pass that same information to Orchestrator that MDT wizard shows after deployment. Any ideas?

Basically the solution mentioned with Henrik does that, but not in the way you would like it to do.
The bdd.log is copied along the e-mail as attachment, and when you look at incorporating this solution, you can work with task sequence variables.
So if you are able to retrieve ERROR and WARNING succes codes from the BDD.log and summarize those into the e-mail, you've got what you want.
On the other hand, when using MDT all your production deployment's should equally succeed or fail. Using this for testing purposes doesn't make sense.
So have a look at the posted solution, look in-depth to the scripts provided with the solution, and see if you can make it fit!
    Cheers!

  • File notification via email & font probs

Think i'm in the right place,
On a server I've recently been placed to "correct" issues on, I have 2 problems.
Main prob is when accessing the server from an xterm box (not directly), typing into a terminal or console, the spacing between letters is very odd (as in to much space or no space etc) and seems to be affected by how fast you type (never seen this before). Even if you type slow, it comes out even but still spaced apart. Funny part is anything you get back as in responses to commands, is correctly spaced and looks normal. What is wrong??
2nd thing is, is there a way that if a particular file appears in a particular directory due to an ftp transfer, that it notifies user(s) via email?
If wrong place to ask this, I appologize... ALL Help is appreciated! :o)

plz some one reply the solution for this

  • Notification via eMail and/or worklist

    Hi everyone,
We have a requirement that some notifications will need to be send via eMail and worklist and other notification should only be thru worklist only.
    e.g.,
Notification FYI - eMail and Worklist
    Notification Approval - Worklist only
Is there a document or a way to do the such thing?
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi,
If they are in separate item types, then I would create a new mailer, specifying the name of the item type as the correlation ID. That way the mailer will only send emails for that one item type. You will need to disable the standard mailer, otherwise that will email everything.
The disadvantage of this approach is that you will need to have multiple mailers if you want to email from different item types - there is no way to include multiple correlations in the mailer configuration (e.g. you can't run a mailer for APINV and POAPPRV item types).
A trigger would still do the job - you could automatically set the mail status for the notification to SENT as soon as the notification is created. If you are going this route, I would write a function that is invoked from the trigger to determine whether the notification should be emailed or not. That way, as more item types are used, you can easily modify the code in the function to determine whether to send the notification or not. I would even have a separate table / value set which can be checked, which contains a list of item types and / or processes which should not be emailed and have the code check that - if you add more conditions, then it's just an extra record in that table / set.

  • Hardware Error Reporting Via Email

    Hello All
I have a question i hope someone can help me out with.
what i want to know is if there is a oem and or third part software that would send you server errors (mainly looking at windows) via emails. For example: if a hardware issue was to arise with lets say a HDD or some other component and the error is logged.
Would i be able to get a program to send me that error via email automatically every time an issue arises with a any hardware component or software.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
what you really need is a monitoring tool. Something like say System Center Operation Manager, nagios, HP SIM...
Many OEMS (HP, Dell, IBM/Lenovo,..) offer specific tools and configuratiotns for server grade hardware. this mostly consists of an IPMI with some vendor specifics (think HP ILO, Dell iDrac,..). this is modelspecific hardware to monitor (and configure) the
hardware. Most of these can send out emails.
Yous should never rely on the local server (only) to alert you of problems; it might be on fire when it needs to send out that mail! Have dedicated monitoring hardware.

  • Subscribe and Notification via email

We would like to use to subscribe mechanism in Oracle Portal. Instead of displaying the new items in a portlet, we wish to notifiy daily via email.
Has somebody done something similar and can provide the source code?

    Hi, André
We have the same case, but I have no solution for the moment.
I think I'll use a triger on the table portal.wwv_things, but it will be difficult to put a filter on the right items.

  • Why is iCal sending event notifications via email?!!

My wife and I subscribe to each other's ical calendars via iCloud and it's been working fine since first set up months ago. Suddenly today, she got a ton of emails after I updated and added a bunch of events in my calendar. This hasn't happened before today. Neither of us changed anything and I know I made similar updates in my calendar earlier in the week that didn't generate emails to her.

as i wrote there Re: How do you stop receiving notifications about updated calendar events?:
to NOT get email notification about updated events from a shared calendar you subscribed to you have to uncheck "events affect availability" in that calendars "info" (mac os X.7 and X.8: iCal —> calendars dropdown —> right click on the subscribed calendar —> choose "get info" from the context-menu —> uncheck "events affect availability")

  • Event Notification via Email

    hey guys,
i've installed 9.2.0.1 and patched it to 9.2.0.4 on Fedora Core 1. i've been trying to get the email notification from OMS to work. i've verified that SMTP gateway is working fine and have successfully sent a test notification. events that test nodes, such as disk full or swap full, are able to send an email, but tests on the database, such as tablespace full or maximum extents, don't seem to send any notification. i've been adding values into a table via sqlplus until it starts getting ORA-01653: unable to extend table <user>.<table> by 256 in tablespace <tablespace>.
any ideas what i haven't configured properly?

    Hi.
Sorry bout the delay. I had a similar problem on 8i with EM, I could do tests on everything except actuall database issues. And all events was registered correctly. In my case, the problem was the dbsnmp user. The user had been given a password that varied from dbsnmp(default password). Maybe you should try control the connectivity between the different nodes and that the acent is working correctly. Also try enabling tracing the agent from the %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\snmp_rw.ora.

  • Vendor Payment notification via email

The requirement is to automate the vendor payment. Right now using T-code F-51 & F110 for vendor payment(document types are BV & KZ).
As soon as payment has been made in a particular vendor account. A email should be sent directly to vendor. The email address will be maintained in Vendor master.
I want this to be automated. Can anyone help on this.
    Thanks
    anu

Seached on other forums & got the solution as Business event for this activity exist.
    the steps are
Step 1- Define Std communication method as SMTP (Internet mail) in vendor master
Step 2 – Maintain email address via FK02.
Step 3 - T-Code BERP – Code to find Find event 00002040 – This is a Function called SAMPLE_PROCESS_00002040, copy with another name i.e. ZSAMPLE_PROCESS_00002040
Step 4 – T-Code FIBF -> Option -> Product ->a Customer, Write product name at your choice (for example ZMAIL) and make it active.
    Step 5 – T-Code FIBIF -> Option ->Process Function (or Module) ->. A Customer.
    Process = 00002040
    Module Function = ZSAMPLE_PROCESS_00002040
Product = ZMAIL (name of product define by you in step 4)
it will automatically send mail to vendor provided SCOT is configured.

  • How to send notification via email

As we know, there is one step type "Sent Mail" in the workflow builder. However, the notification can only be sent to business workplace.  Any one knows how to let sap automatically send the notificatfion to both business workplace and email box of the user.

If the SAP User Id is maintained with a valid email address in SU01d transaction and everything is properly configured in SCOT then you will receive mail on both Workplace and email inbox provided you are using SAP User Id as an agent assignment.

  • Receiving Notifications via email

I have a user who is not receiving an email notification when a requisition is forwarded to her for approval. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong?

    Hi,
    - Check Mailer Notification is working properly? Else tell to ur DBA to check Mail Server.
    - Check Mailer Notification Request is running properly from system administrator module...
    - Check whether data is populated in the wf_notification table for that particular requisition_header_id and mail is not sent to the respective person in hierarchy. If that is the case then there is definitely the problem in Mail Server , need to review whole settings there.
For any details, feel free to ask.

  • IPS Sensor - Event Notification via Email?

    Good day all.
I have been asked to re-create some functionality that was lost after the customer upgraded from VMS to CSM but without CS-MARS or any other event monitor. The user had the system set to generate an email when an event was fired. It apparently was noisy in the begining but after tuning was not a bad solution. No one knows how it was originally set up but I can only assume it was the method described in the Cisco document at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/products_configuration_example09186a00801fc770.shtml#fivesensor
Now, however, since the CSM does not recieve event data is it possible to recreate this 'notification' process?
The are using CSM 3.02 and the Sensors are still at 5.14. The Sensors will be updated to 5.17 later today. I will then either be upgrading the customer to the latest revisions and service packs for CSM or rolling them back to VMS depending on whether I can get the notifications to work with CSM.
NOTE: They are ordering a CS-MARS appliance with the belief that it will resolve the issue but as last word it will be several months at least before they could get it in. I am concerned that CS-MARS will NOT give them back this functionality. Can anyone confirm/deny?
Lastly - Since CSM does not include a Security Monitor like VMS did, and CS-MARS does not really recreate that sort of view or management of the events - what solution(s) are there to replicate the Security Monitor functionality? Is there? Is CS-MARS the new bully on the block?

Since customer is staying at a 5.1(x) version then you have 3 options:
    1) downgrade to VMS and continue using Security Monitor
    2) Stay with CSM and purchase CS-MARS for the event monitoring. CS-MARS should provide email notification capability.
    3) Stay with CSM and install and use IEV 5.2(1).
IEV 5.2(1) can either be installed on a separate machine from CSM as a standalone utility:
    http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ips-ev
IEV 5.2(1) contains the new feature for email notification for alerts.
OR IEV 5.2(1) can be installed as part of the CSM installation (I know it is in CSM 3.1, but not sure about earlier CSM versions).
Here is some documentation on running IEV 5.2(1) within the CSM framework:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/security/security_management/cisco_security_manager/security_manager/3.1/user/guide/monidiag.html#wp1203768
NOTE: IEV 5.2(1) is targeted for use in networks with 5 or less sensors. When running with 5 or more sensors then CS-MARS would be the recommened veiwer.
When the user later upgrades to version 6.x, then option 1 (downgrading to VMS) is no longer an option and either option 2 or 3 would be required.
