Error opening database, Plz help!

Dear Oracle Gurus,
I have been getting this error message today, and I dont know what steps to be taken.
SQL> alter database open;
alter database open
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-16068: redo log file activation identifier mismatch
ORA-00312: online log 1 thread 1: 'D:\ORACLE\ORADATA\ORCL\REDO01.LOG'
I am not able to log in with any of the users except a sysdba like sys.
In other words, I am only able to log into the database thru sys but cannot perform any operations on tables or objects.
I am running Oracle 9i R2
Please help how to get rid of this problem.

what is ....? Is the path to your main Aperture library printed there, or is Aperture trying to open a different location? If it is a different location, launch Aperture on your correct library, by double clicking the library.
If it is indeed trying to open the correct library package, try if repairing and rebuilding the library with the "first aid tools" will help, see this manual page on how to do this:
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
If the problem persists, when trying to repair, check if there is a crash report and post the first 60 lines.

Error Opening Database

Hi I have just repaired my Aperture 3.1 Database hoping that it would help with some difficulties I have with the software.
Now it is completed when I try to open Aperture I get the message "There was an error opening the database for the library “/Volumes/xxxxxx” and it won't let me open the program at all.
Any suggestions? (I don't really want to delete my preferences as it took me so long to get them streamlined!)

Have you give the launch options of Repair or Rebuild a try?
Make a backup of your library, then launch the app with Command and Option keys held down.
Choose a Repair and see if that helps getting past any error. Then rebuild if necessary.

Aperture error opening database for library

I was working in Aperture--deleting photos--when it crashed. My Mac Book Pro rebooted but in trying to open Aperture after it rebooted, I got this message:
"There was an error opening the database for the library “/Users/rick/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary”. My only option on the pop-up was to quit.
I found a suggestion here online to find the Aperture library, hold Command-Option and double click the library which supposedly would bring up a repair menu. It didn't. I got the same message as i did on trying to open Aperure quoted above, and again the only option was to quit Now I can't even open Aperture.
Any ideas how to get my library back? Thanks.

Here is the Etresoft report. The only software I can recall recently installing is Dashlane. And I did have the local Apple store recently install new memory (from 4 GB to 8) but other than that I don't recall other changes. I believe Aperture is the most current version. To check, I'll have to log on to the other account because that is now the only way I can get Aperture to open. Should I do that?

Error in variables,plz help me

I created a variable del_var.The sql query assosiated with this variable is.
Delete from schema.file_name_table where rownum=1;
After refreshing it.it is deleting first row in the table.But it is resulting in an error
"17003 : null : java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column index java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column index "

Hi,
You can't use a 'Delete" command at a refreshing variable because at a refresch the variable need to receive a value back and the delete doesn't return value.
Change the command to "select....."
Does it make sense to you?

This works perfectly in CF 5. However, when running in CF 8 I am getting the error message:
Error Executing Database Query.FUNCTION mydatabase.LEN does not exist The specific sequence of files included or processed is: /home/httpd/vhosts/somedomain.com/httpdocs/reference/systemcode.cfm, line: 24
(that refers to the above cfquery)
"mydatabase" is the name of the database and LEN is a function.    It's checking for the length of systemcode to be 2 or 4, if they are then check if the value of #CAT# is 1 and that the first 2 characters is between 01 and 05 then select the row. I don't know why it works with CF5 but not CF8? It's driving me nuts. Any help is appreciated.

If you changed databases, that is the source of the problem, not upgrading CF. MySQL will not understand MS Access specific functions and vice versa. Do not expect queries written for one database type to automatically work with another. While there are sql standards, every database is different. It is quite common for database vendors to have totally different function names, data types and even syntax. You will need to throrougly review your database queries and convert any Access specific syntax, data types, etcetera to the MySQL equivalents.

database. I guess I was mixing them.
Yes. It is a little confusing because both CF and MS Access have those functions. In this specific case you were using the Access functions, not CF.

Error opening database in aperture

Made a back up of aperture lib using time machine and now the lib will not open with error:
"There was an error opening the database for the library "~/Destop/Aperture Library.aplibrary".
I restored the file and still have the problem. Ran disk util and other checks of the machine and no joy!
Tried command-option without luck. Any other suggestions?

"Made a back up of aperture lib using time machine". What does that mean exactly? Time Machine should not be affecting your library unless you are trying to recover something from a time machine backup. But that is the opposite of what I think you are saying.
One thing to try is create a new fresh library and then try importing from your old library into the new library (File->Import->Library/Project...). If your library is large, this could take a long time.

I did the following :
1- from Start menu,I select Programs > Oracle9i Developer Suite > Forms Developer > Start OC4J Instance. I waited till the window displays a message that OC4J has been initialized, and I minimized the window,and i did not close it.
2-I opened my form and connected my database successfuly.
3- when i started to run my form the same message appeared ( frm-10142: the http listener is not running on 127.0.0.1 at port 8888 . please start the listener or check your runtime perference)
i do not know why it appeared again .i want to know what is the problem . in fact i hardly need to shift to forms9i, but this problem makes me disapointed.

Newbie ? - Error Opening Database After Recovery

Hi All-
I'm new to Oracle and am using 9i - I'm working on cloning our Production db for a Test db.
I shutdown the Production db and copied all the files from that db into my Test db - I then started my Test db and recovered it. I am now trying to OPEN it, but am getting an error. I am hoping that someone out there with a little more experience and knowledge can help me with this issue.

Lots of errors opening CS2-please help!

I've been working just fine in CS2 for a long time. Now I get all sorts of errors when opening. The first one is: Execution halted. In Module: Bridge, Script File: c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe GoLive CS2\Modules\Extend Scripts\Bridge\Main.html. At line: 4 :var last Folder = null
Then, a whole series of errors ending with GoLive opening with a debugging screen on MenuMachine and module.folder.getAbsURL is not a function. If I open any files, I get more errors.
The only thing I did recently to GoLive CS2 was add Safari to the list of browsers. I've deleted Safari but this still happens. I found an earlier post by Nate Baldwin about Opera and tried to replicate the ideas in that to no avail. I'd appreciate any help!

That's tomorrow's project. Hopefully, that will work. I have a frightening thought: Could copying a component that has a Menumachine menu to another site screw up everything? I sure hope not because I have absolutely no idea how to fix that. Thanks for your help Nate!

N82 map loader error...PLZ HELP!!!

Do you see "Tahoma" listed under the Fonts folder which is under the WINDOWS folder?

Error after update: Plz help

I am facing a really strange problem and I have been banging my head against the wall for the past couple of days. I do not understand how no one else faced this error before. So quite possibly it must be my fault somehow. But heres the problem description
I first do an insert into the oracle 9i database using ODP.NET -- this works correctly
Immediately afterwards I do an read of the same row that I just inserted
Immediately afterwards I do an update. The update always fails in the scenario no matter which row I am updating. All these operations are on the same table though.
The update works just fine when there is no insert immediately preceding it.
The error message that I get is:
"Dynamic SQL generation failed. No key information found"
But this does not make any sense due to:
a) The database has the key info in it
b) This scenario works when I use the Microsofts driver for oracle
c) Inserts, updates work independently. They dont work only when I call an update immediately after an insert.
DO u think there is so row locking thing going on here??
But the error message is completely different.

I finally figured out the cause of the error. I am not sure if this is a bug with ODP.NET or not but like I said above this problem only occurs when I use ODP.NET and not the driver provided by microsoft for oracle. The solution is to call fillschema before update, insert, delete into the database. The fillschema also fills in the primarykey information into the dataset. apparently I had assumed incorrectly that fill would do it, but dosent seem like it. So in order to use oraclecommandbuilder one needs to use fillschema too.

Error opening database Windows service OracleServiceEMPREP

I just installed Oracle Grid Control 10.2.0.1 then upgraded it to 10.2.05 on Windows 2003 server.
I could open the service OracleServiceEMPREP at 10.2.0.1 but not after I upgraded to 10.2.0.5
This is the error I get.
Problem Description: Could not start the OracleServiceEMPREP service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Any advice?

I deinstalled the software through the uninstaller.
Then I removed the Oracle directories.
Then I reinstalled Oracle again.
I first installed 10.2.0.1 and the service worked.
I then upgraded to 10.2.0.5 and the service now doesn't work.
