Error running SSIS package to do with encrypting/decrypting password. Help needed.

Getting this error. Can anyone shed some light? This is the first promote since 2009. Protection level of the package is 'EncryptSensitiveWithPassword' I'm new at SSIS so don't assume I know anything.

From the error message “Failed to decrypt an encrypted XML node because the password was not specified or not correct. Package load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information.“, it seems that the error is caused by the password to decrypt
an encrypted XML node was not specified or incorrect.
Besides, the EncryptSensitiveWithPassword Protection level means user should use a password to encrypt only the values of sensitive properties in the package. To open the package in SSIS Designer, the user must provide the package password. If the password
is not provided, the package opens without the sensitive data and the current user must provide new values for sensitive data. If the user tries to execute the package without providing the password, package execution fails.
So in order to resolve this issue, we should provide the password when executing the package. When you execute a package with this setting using DTEXEC, you can specify the password on the command line using the /Decrypt password command line argument.

I encounter the below error while running SSIS Package from Job or integration service. However on execution completes success fully while running from data tools. The issue occurs after migration to 2012 from 2oo5 dtsx. PFB the error.
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRIMEOUTPUTFAILED. The PrimeOutput method on OLE DB Source returned error code 0xC02020C4. The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by

The package also runs successfully from other servers. This happens only in one of our server.seems like issue with some sql configuration.

Are you running using SQL Agent Job and Data tools on same server or different?
If it is executing fine using Data tools and failing with Job it might be User credentials issue.Try
to run Job with your credentials by using proxy .

Run SSIS package at scheduled time without running SSIS service

I want to run SSIS Package using SQL Agent job, But for some reason, I am allowed to install SSIS services on the server. Is there any way to run SSIS package without running SSIS service? I tried using DTEXEC.exe command, but it still give an error. "To
run SSIS package outside SQL server data tools you must install service".

The service itself is not doing much (only allows to connect), but to actually execute SSIS packages naturally you have to have the Integration Services installed where you want to run the package. Likewise, if you have SSIS installed elsewhere you can run
it remotely off the local SQL Agent that connects to a remote package.

Hello Pam,
When you run SSIS package with BPC DM it runs on the application server. You don't really have to run a package on a different server in order to get data from a remote database and dump it to a file. That task can be done in your SSIS package using various data sources/destinations. If that's what you are trying to do. The only thing is, your BPC admin user (the one you used to install BPC) has to have an appropriate privileges on a remote server.

*Error executing SSIS Package from BPC 5.1*

I'm trying to execute a perfectly working SSIS package from BPC 5.1. When I execute the package it instantly completes executing (Failure) with nothin written to the Log file.
After doing further analysis, we have found the root cause to be "Sequence Containers" in SSIS Packages. We can execute the same package if we remove the sequence container.
When we try to edit the SSIS package via BPC, containing the Sequence Containers", we receive the following error:

When we try to edit SSIS packages via BPC, containing NO Sequence Containers", everything is wonderful.

Could you be more specific the step you did?
1. It works fine in Visual Studio,
2. It is not working with Excel Front-end. Call the package from Excel.
3. It worked few days ago, ==> Do you mean it was working with #2 step?
I think this might be caused by authentication,
1. could you check your athentication you have for #1 and #2?
2. Did you introduce BPC DM to call the package? BPC DM uses impersonated ID even you use ID which has restrictive to use system resource, there will be no problem for the authentication.
3. As you see the log, it points FLOW task and OLEDB SOURCE, check your connection string in OLEDB SOURCE also.

Run SSIS package in a machine without Sql Server

Hi All,
I have 3 packages which are doing fairly easy job. First uploading flat file to remote server from my local machine. Second does some transformation and third load file back to my local machine. I am running all of them through batch file. Now, I have to
run those 3 batch files in my colleague machine which doesn't have any instance of MSSQL or Visual Studio.I sent batch files to his machine and when he runs, first one is working probably which uploads file to remote server, however second batch file doesn't
working. My guess is because batch file has some tsql syntax whereas he doesn't have MSSQL is making issue. (I added the code below). Is it possible? I can not install SQL Server to his machine but I need to run these packages(or batch files). Is there any

The osql utility is installed by SQL Server. You need to make sure the utility is installed on your colleague machine.
To run SSIS package outside the BIDS, only the DTExec utility which is a client tool is not enough, the server components for Integration Services Service (SSIS runtime) is also required. To install SSIS runtime and DTExec utility, we must install the Integration
Services shared feature from the SQL Server install media. So, you need to install SSIS service on the machine where the SSIS packages jobs run.

You need to install Integration Services, which installs the necessary bytes on your computer and the SSIS service as well. The service can be disabled though, you don't need it to run packages.

Encrypt / Decrypt password

I'm new in Java and I need to create a function to encrypt / decrypt passwords using the Blowfish algorithm. I know how to create a key, but I don't know how to recover it to decrypt the password.
Another question, Is it possible to use public/private keys in this case???.
Can you give some links or examples please???

This is typically done either one of two ways:
1) PBE based encryption. This uses a password or pass phrase to derive
a key to use with a symmetric algorithm.
2) Asymmetric using something like RSA. Typically RSA is used to wrap
the actual symmetric key used to do the encryption but for very short
plaintext it can be used directly on the plaintext. Passwords are a
good example of short plaintext.
Obviously symmetric encryption is a great deal faster than asymmetric
encryption. So if your plaintext was large you would want to use
symmetric. Also Asymmetric encryption is length dependant. AKA if your
public key's modulus is 1024 bits then you could encrypt any plaintext
that was 121 bytes or shorter.
PBE takes a salt (a random byte array) and an iteration count and
hashes a passphrase with the salt iteration number of times to generate
a key that can be reproduced over and over again and used with a
symmetric algorithm. The issue here is that your salt/ic either need
to be hard coded and reused or the values for any single encryption
need to be saved along with the ciphertext. Using the same ic/salt for
a large number of plaintext to ciphertext operations can lead to a
weakening of the pass phrase (aka the key) and aids a cryptoanalyst in
breaking the code. Although it is still difficult it becomes easier
with each successive encryption.
Its upto you which route you take but you should note that private keys
used in asymmetric encryption use PBE to keep them private anyway so in
a sense if you use asymmetric encryption you are really using both
asymmetric encryption and PBE...

Error trying to run SSIS Package via SQL Server Agent: DTExec: Could not set \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value] value to System.Object

Situation:
SSIS Package designed in SQL Server 2012 - SQL Server Data Tools
Windows 7 - 64 bit.
The package (32 bit) extracts data from a SQL Server db to an Excel Output file, via an OLE DB connection.
It uses 3 package variables:
*) SQLCommand (String) to specify the SQL Statement to be executed by the package
Property path: \Package.Variables[User::ExcelOutputFile].Properties[Value]
Value: f:\Output Data.xls
*) EXCELOutputFIle (String) to specify path and filename of the Excel output file
Property path: \Package.Variables[User::SQLCommand].Properties[Value]
Value: select * from CartOrder
*) VarObjectDataSet (Object) to hold the data returned by SQL Server)
Property path: \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value]
Value: System.Object
It consists out of 2 components:
*) Execute SQL Task: executes the SQL Statement passed on via a package variable. The resultng rows are stored in the package variable VarObjectDataSet
*) Script Task: creates the physical output file and iterates VarObjectDataSet to populate the Excel file.
Outcome and issue:The package runs perfectly fine both in SQL Server Data Tools itself and in DTEXECUI.
However, whenever I run it via SQL Server Agent (with 32 bit runtime option set), it returns the errror message below.
This package contains 3 package variables but the error stating that a package variable can not be set, pops up for the VarObjectDataSet only. This makes me wonder if it is uberhaupt possible to set the value of a package variable
of type Object.
Can anybody help me on this please ?

So, judging by your reply, not all package variables used inside a package need to be set a value for when run in DTEXEC ?
I already tried that but my package ended up in error (something to do with "... invocation ...." and that error is anything but clearly documented. Judging by the error message itself, it looks like it could be just about anything. that is why I asked my
first question about the object type package variable.
Now, I will remove it from the 'set values' list and try another go cracking the unclear error-message " ... invocation ...". Does an error message about " ... invocation ..." ring any bells, now that we are talking about it here ?

Yes exactly
You need to set values only forthem which needs to be controlled from outside the package
Any variable which gets its value through expression set inside package or through a query inside execute sql task/script task can be ignored from DTExec
Ok I've seen the invocation error mostly inside script task. This may be because some error inside script written in script task. If it appeared after you removed the variable then it may because some reference of variable existing within script task.

When I execute this same exact package as a SQLAgent job 32-bit (type Operating System CmdExec) it runs successfully. When I run the package using the Execute Package Utility, it runs successfully. When I am editting the package in BIDS I can connect to Oracle. For both 64 and 32 bit, I use a dtsconfig file which specifies the Oracle connection string and password.
Someone mentioned on another forum that maybe there is no Oracle ODBC driver for 64-bit Windows. I would assume that the OracleClient 64-bit would include that.
I hope I have included all info needed. Please let me know if you may have a resolution to this problem.

I was trying to transfer data from oracle to sql server 2008 on a daily basis.
I have very hard time connecting to oracle from ssis package on windows server 2008. I am almost dead and cannot find any help. i was able to connect to oracle using import/export 64 bit feature of SQL Server 2008 using Oracle provider for OLEDB. But I am not sure why the same does not work with BIDS?
Here's the environment info:
1. Oracle Client 10g
2. SQL Server 2008
3. Windows Server 2008

Running SSIS Package from SQL Job - with Set Values, a string containing";"

Can anybody help with this problem please?
I’m using “set value” in SQL agent to pass in an email address to my SSIS package, if I put in a value of:
[email protected]
It works fine, but if I attempt to input multiple email addresses it fails
[email protected];[email protected]
It doesn’t appear to like the “;”.
Any ideas anyone???

If I look at my command line table when Email = [email protected], it looks like:

If I change the value to “[email protected];[email protected]”, it looks like:

But the weird thing is, if I close the job properties window and re-open it again, I lose this line from my set values screen all together!!!

I installed office in my machine...but this doesn't solved my problem...
Finally i figured out the solution for this and it is working now, Here is the solution...!
Create the folder with name "Desktop" inside the below mentioned path
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\
But i really don't understand the logic behind this. Can someone explain it pls....

SQL Server Agent running SSIS package fails Unable to determine if the owner of job has server access

I have a web application developed through VS 2012 which has a button on a form that when operated starts a SQL Server agent job on the server that runs an SSIS package. The website and the instance of SQL Server with the agent and SSIS package are
on the same windows 2008 r2 server. When the button is operated no exceptions are raised but the SSIS package did not execute.
When I look in the logfileviewer at the job history of the sql server agent job I see that the job failed with message...
The job failed. Unable to determine if the owner (DOMAINNAME\userid) of job runWebDevSmall has server access (reason: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'DOMAINNAME\userid'<c/> error code 0x6e. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 15404)).,00:00:00,0,0,,,,0
...even though DOMAINNAME\userid is in the logins for the sql server and has admin authorities.
Could someone show me what I need to do to get this to run? Thanks tonnes in advance for any help, Roscoe

This can happen when the network is too slow to allow a timely completion of the verification. Or the account running has no such right.
I suggest you try using the SA account for the job as it does not require to poll the AD.

Is it possible to Deploy a SSIS package to catalog with a Sql Server Identity in SQL Server 2012 programmly ?

how can I deploy a SSIS package with a SQL SERVER identity to the catalog in SQL Server 2012 programmly?
I tried to use the [SSISDB].[catalog].[deploy_project], but the error said that it could only be used with a WINDOWS identity.
This question has worried me for days.
Is there any way to make the catalog.deploy_project available for a SQL SERVER identity ?
Or just an new solution instead of using the catalog.deploy_project?

Sorry, my description may be confusable.
I use EXECUTE AS , not EXECUTE WITH, to solve the problem.
In fact, I don't care about the authority.
I want to execute the stored procedure using a SQL SERVER Authentication Account , since my codes run on a linux OS and it is hard to connect to SSIS using a Windows Authentication Account.
so, using EXECUTE AS to change the execution context is accaptable.
The requirement for a Windows Authentication Account makes sense.
I consider that the SSIS executes outside the context of SQL Server and as part of an OS process, which means that a Windows account is necessary in order to deploy a package.
