Error trying to read UDC log in xMII 11.5

Hi
I am having problems with a connection to a PI database.
In the PI UDS i have set the debug = true and i am trying to read the UDC log, but i can't retrieve any data.
I get the following error message:
Failed [3] retry attempts! com.lighthammer.Illuminator.logging.LHException: Failed [3] retry attempts! at com.lighthammer.Illuminator.logging.ErrorHandler.handleError(ErrorHandler.java:48) at com.lighthammer.Illuminator.tools.lisa.DataReaderHelper.handleFatalError(DataReaderHelper.java:46) at com.lighthammer.Illuminator.tools.lisa.DataReader.read(DataReader.java:55) at com.lighthammer.Illuminator.connectors.UDC.UDCQuery.doQuery(UDCQuery.java:114) at com.lighthammer.Illuminator.connectors.UDC.UDC.processRequest(UDC.java:94) at com.lighthammer.Illuminator.services.handlers.IlluminatorService.processRequest(IlluminatorService.java:56) at com.lighthammer.Illuminator.services.ServiceManager.runQuery(ServiceManager.java:49) at com.lighthammer.Illuminator.servlet.Illuminator.service(Illuminator.java:58) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:856) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.SERequestDispatcher.forwardServlet(SERequestDispatcher.java:638) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.SERequestDispatcher.forward(SERequestDispatcher.java:236) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.SERequestDispatcher.internalForward(SERequestDispatcher.java:283) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.SEFilterChain.doFilter(SEFilterChain.java:96) at com.lighthammer.cms.system.CMSFilter.doFilter(CMSFilter.java:118) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.SEFilterChain.doFilter(SEFilterChain.java:60) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.ApplicationInfo.filterApplRequest(ApplicationInfo.java:2159) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.ApplicationInfo.processApplRequest(ApplicationInfo.java:1823) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.ServerHostInfo.processApplRequest(ServerHostInfo.java:937) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.ServletExec.ProcessRequest(ServletExec.java:1091) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.ServletExec.ProcessRequest(ServletExec.java:973) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.ServletExecService.processServletRequest(ServletExecService.java:167) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.ServletExecService.Run(ServletExecService.java:204) at com.newatlanta.servletexec.HttpServerRequest.run(HttpServerRequest.java:487)
What is causing this problem?
System specs:
xMII 11.5 SR1
PI UDS 2.5

I am getting this error even though i can use a tag query to retrieve data form the PI database. So i dont think it is because the PI server is unavailable.
The settings for the UDS are set as follows:
AutoRetry = true
AutoRetryCount = 3
AutoRetryInterval = 15
AutoRetryConnect = true
I am getting this error even though i can use a tag query to retrieve data form the PI database.
Shouldn't i be able to read the UDC log regardless of whether i have a working PI connection?
Best regards
Daniel

  • RH7 Error: Failed to read from log... Failed to generate WebHelp Pro

    Installed RH9 trial on Windows XP PC. Then, generated an existing project using RH7 to a new C: drive directory location on the PC using the same name. Renamed the project files in that C:drive directory to a test name and opened the project's .xpj file in RH9.  It converted cleanly.
    Now, when I go to generate the RH7 original project from the original server directory, I receive:
    Error: Failed to read from log (file name) .log.... Internal error encountered,  Failed to generate WebHelp Pro.
    Does the log file keep track of the previous generation (time stamp,etc), since this RH7 generation has a skip in it for the one generated to the C:drive?  I've compared the log files from each run (.txt files) and don't see a difference. I even copied the log file from the C:drive run to the Server directory. No luck.  Any ideas?

    Hi John,
    Thanks for the prompt response.  I am trying to evaluate RH9 / RH Server 9.
    When I generate RH7 projects, I’ve always put the server (RH7 Server) directory reference in the ‘Output Folder and Start Page’ field.  This directory reference is where the compiled output ends up right? In my case, it’s in that field as:
    PBSrobohelp\D$\RoboHelp <file:///
    PBSrobohelp\D$\RoboHelp>  Web Files\PBS Unit Processes Manual.  I’m not aware of a C:Drive local copy of the files. Doesn’t it go out to the server output for the .log file in question?
    For the test, I took an existing project in RH7 and replaced this server reference with a C:Drive local hard drive directory reference and ran the output to it.  Then I went to the C:Drive directory and changed the project name, because there doesn’t appear to be a way to do a ‘save as’ on a project – RH7 wants to keep that name badly.  I then, shutdown RH7 and started RH9.  I opened the .xpj file from the new test project copy. It recognized that it was from an older release and it converted the test copy to RH9.  It converted cleanly with about 2 inconsequential document warnings but did not create a TOC.  I looked it over and saved it in RH9 – it was already my test name.
    The original RH7 project opens fine in RH7 and the Test RH9 project opens fine in RH9. So I think I have a good test copy.  It’s just that when I point the RH7 original to the Server Output folder (which has its files) it gets the error on generation.
    We are evaluating RH Server 9 but I haven’t attempted to publish anything to it yet. I’ve stayed  purely on my desktop.
    Hope this clears it up.

    Hi,
    I could not reproduce your problem.The tutorial "Developing a Web Application" works fine for me.
    Please post the server log file which is available at : <install-dir>:\Sun\Creator2\SunAppServer8\domains\creator\logs\server .log
    Thanks,

  • Getting UTL FILE error trying to read from User_TUNE_MVIEW

    I am trying to set up a materialized view using the dbms_advisor.tune_mview which works and populates the user_tune_mview table. Supposedly I am supposed to be able to extract the suggested SQL from that table by
    a) logging on as sysdba and
    i) create directory MYDIR as 'C:\';
    ii) grant read,write on directory mydir to grantee (in my case aradmin)
    b) logging back on as aradmin (the user) and running,
    c)
    exec_dbms_advisor.create_file(dbms_advisor.get_task_script('TASK_Number'),
    'MYDIR','FIXME.txt');
    the last step does not work:
    instead I get a cascade of errors other people must have also encountered which are:
    ORA-29283: invalid file operation
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_FILE", line 475
    ORA-29283: invalid file operation
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.PRVT_ADVISOR", line 140
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_ADVISOR", line 527
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    Since this is a called oracle package I am at a loss and hope that someone else ran into this and solved it.
    thanks in advance.

    What version pof the database are you using and what documentation are you reading regarding exec_dbms_advisor. I can not find anything.

    Ivo,
    I think you have encountered a bug. I get the same error on my 10.2. The ADJUSTED_SCALEUP_GREEN_THRESH parameter is defined in SYS.WRI$_ADV_DEF_PARAMETERS table having value 1.25. The other similar parameter OVERALL_SCALEUP_GREEN_THRESH has value of 1.5 (this one also causes a procedure crash). Both should be converted to a number type but obviously can't be. If you change their values to 1 and 2 respectively then the procedure successfully completes. Therefore I suspect that this is a bug and the best idea is to log a TAR. If you will not do it, I'll log it.

    Ivo,
    Hmmmm..., in my previous post I overlooked the fact that the problem is the NLS setting for decimal point. If you set NLS_LANG=american_america.us7ascii then things work correctly. I would expect that Oracle would do a proper NLS handling inside their package.
    The other possibility is to properly set nls_numeric_characters parameter and then run your code.
    alter session set nls_numeric_characters='.,';
    Sorry for misleading information in my previous post.

    That's it! There is a problem with decimal point, while we use comma (',') in Czech as decimal point, and therefore the conversion of '1.25' to number is unsuccessful...
    I'm not sure, if this a bug (looks like not-very-clever feature), if you think so, please create a TAR.
    Thanks for your help.

    I don't consider this behaviour a bug. However, I would expect that Oracle would use proper NLS settings internally in the package.

  • When I sign into Yahoo mail, I'm getting an error trying to read, move, or delete messages: JSON.parse Response parse failed.

    I have used Firefox for many years and never encountered such a problem. It seems to be only Yahoo mail. The problem started last week and is making it nearly impossible to access my email on this computer. It does not happen on my laptop at home.

    Update
    OK, Today I went ahead & booted & tried again & it worked this time.
    Not sure why it didn't yesterday. Maybe the servers were just overloaded? Several others reported similar.
    Also yesterday when I ran Speedtest it showd download at about 25 mbps, This morning just before I re-started the download it was showing just above 30 mbps.  So maybe the internet was less busy? Or at least the parts between me & the test server.
    & so far it is working ok.

  • Web Service; Error attempting to read from file

    I'm trying to connect to a web service as outlined by the book "Creating Dynamic Forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer" which is an excellent book by the way.
    I'm receiving the following error "Error attempting to read from file. http://www.webservicex.net/BibleWebservice.asmx"
    I've successfully created the Data Connection to
    http://www.webservicex.net/BibleWebservice.asmx?wsdl
    I dragged and dropped the bookTitle, chapter & Versie onto the form. I also dragged and dropped the GetBibleWordsByChapterAndVerseResult and the GetBibleWordsByChapterAndVerseBtn.
    I Preview PDF and click the button I get the above error.
    Does anyone have experience using Web Services with Adobe LiveCycle ES and have advice on how to resolve this. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    -Todd

    Well, I have more news on the error I'm getting. - NO I didn't find the problem. Yet
    I checked and made sure that web.config had "None" selected " in authentication mode. I.E. <authentication mode="None" /> This should eliminate any authentication problems since that turns off IIS's authentication checking.
    At first I was thinking the form was generating the error trying to read the result coming back from the web service, but I put in some code that writes the result to a log file when the method fires off.
    I noticed that when I clicked on the button on the form, the error message would pop up from Acrobat, but when I check the log file, there was NO entry. This means that Acrobat failed before it could execute the method.
    Here is the web method:
    [WebMethod(CacheDuration = 30,
    Description="Returns the String 'True' or 'False' whether or
    not you entered a 'T' or 't'.")]
    public string TF(string Tf)
    string result="False";
    if(Tf.Substring(0,1).ToLower()=="t"){
    result= "True";}
    LogFile.Write("Sent: "+result);
    return result;

    server error trying to log onto icloud control panel from pc

    In your Internet Explorer browser, Click on the "Pages" drop down, then on "Compatibility display" and add icloud.com to the list.
    Actually I had the same initial error this morning even after adding icloud.com to the list as explained yesterday. So I tried  restarting my browser and I was able to log in. I don't get it. Let me know if adding icloud.com to the list works out for you..

  • Error 7 occurred when trying to read a spreadsheet file in LabVIEW

    Hi,
    I got the message (in bold) below when I was trying to read a text file type. I also include a snippet of my block diagram.
    Error 7 occurred at Open File+.vipen File
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  File not found. The file might have been moved or deleted, or
    the file path might be incorrectly formatted for the operating system.
    For example, use \ as path separators on Windows, : on Mac OS X, and /
    on Linux. Verify that the path is correct using the command prompt or
    file explorer.
    I really appreciate if someone can help me. Thanks.

    Hi Ravens Fan,
    Thanks again for your valuable input. I replaced the string manipulation functions with a path control. I think it works coz I can see the waveform data, rms values etc. And then you said if it works, do a Path to String on that...and I'm not exactly sure how to do that. I attached a snippet of the modified vi. you may refer the original vi snippet in my previous email.
    I appreciate it if you could help me again.
    Thanks.

    it seems my subscription had expired so I signed up again.. It was still having trouble so I repeated the sign up process again.. Then it worked perfectly.. Unfortunately, I think I just subscribed twice and need to cancel one of them. Ugh. Such a pain when I'm trying to get this project completed. I'll be canceling at least one of the subscriptions in the morning. Adobe is not my favorite company right now. None of this was intuitive. And trying to get help was an absolute waste of an hour.

  • Error reading job logs of Apps server from Central Instance

    Dear Gurus,
    We have newly installed system with one CI ( cluster environment) and 2 application Instances.
    Systems are recently installed by other team. I am looking into support part after handover.
    We have noticed below error while reading failed background job logs from our CI. If suppose any job is failing, we can read respective job log from that application instance but it throws error while reading job log from CI to either of application instance.
    I checked /sapmnt/SID/global is shared among all 3 servers and i am successfully able to "Touch a" from applications instances.
    Even though i have given "777" permissions to all folders like  /sapmnt/SID , /sapmnt/SID/global , /sapmnt/SID/global/400JOB*
    I am not able to read job log from CI , for same failed job I can read job log from respective application instance.
    Error log :
    Error reading job log JOBLGX00080700X39290
    Message no. BT167
    Diagnosis
    The background processing system was unable to read the job log named in the message.
    This message suggests that there is a problem with the TEMSE storage system of the SAP system.  The TEMSE storage system is a repository for temporary objects, such as job logs and spool requests. Job logs are always stored in the TEMSE as operating system files.
    This error occurs if the TEMSE system is not able to find or access the file that contains the text of the job log that you requested. Possible causes for the loss or unavailability of the job log include the following:
    Someone deleted the required TEMSE file (from the operating system, not from within the SAP system).
    A CRON (or equivalent scheduler) job has deleted the TEMSE file.
    The file system in which the TEMSE stores its files is not mounted or is not accessible (NFS problem, disk failure, or similar problem).
    The TEMSE reorganize or consistency check functions were used within the SAP system and deleted the job log.
    SM21 logs :
    Error 2 for write/read access to a file. File = /usr/sap/SID/SYS/global
    BP_JOBLOG_SHOW: Failed to display jobs. Reason:
    > Error reading job log JOBLGX00080700X39290
    Strange this is I can check failed job log on one application instance frfom other application instance but not from CI.
    Kindly throw some lights where to check.
    Regards,

    Hi Shravan,
    I guess it is related to permission to /sapmnt/SID/global folder. Please ensure owner is sidadm:sapsys in all the systems viz CI, App servers etc.
    Check the mounting options are correctly set with read/write mode.
    Hope this helps.

    Deepak Kori

  • BODS 3.2: Error opening ABAP file while trying to read ECC table

    I have an ABAP data flow where I'm trying to read an ECC table (I'm following the DS 3.2 tutorial on "Extracting SAP Application Data").  I have the ECC datastore store set up with the following:
    ABAP execution option = Generate and Execute
    Data transfer method = Shared directory
    Working directory on SAP server =
    A\interfaces\D11\110 (SAP app server)
    Application path to the shared directory =
    A\interfaces\D11\110 (SAP app server)
    Generated ABAP directory =
    B\opt\ds\ds32dev1\transfer_ABAP (DS server)
    However, when I run the job I get the following error:
    R3C-150301     12/2/2011 1:54:41 PM     Error opening file <//B/opt/ds/ds32dev1/transfer_ABAP/zcustdim.aba>.
    I have verified the DS userid has read/write access to the Generated ABAP directory.  Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks...

    Hi Brad, Sorry Tushar,
    I see the discussion has moved on (to the second page ) Still the below should apply. Please give a look and see if it explains things.
    It looks like a permission issue creating the file if I'm not wrong.
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EIM/How+to+execute+the+ABAP
    point 3.
    It will be the abap script that will write the file into the folder you added in the DataStore.
    You can even goto the folder the abap code is in and search for the path in there.
    Here a good  example for windows from the wiki
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EIM/shared_directory+transport+method
    with this important sentence:
    However it has to be made certain that the OS user running the ABAP has the
    permission to write there, and the user running the job requires read
    permissions one the directory and the created file. What OS user is writing the
    file? It is the user running the entire SAP instance. And who is reading the
    file? The user running the DI service
    So:
    The working directory = where the SAP user = the user that is running the SAP installation is instructed to write the .dat file. The folder is probably local to the SAP installation?
    Shared folder is for the JobServer to pick up that file. Same physical directory ...but this time from the DS user prospective. Is the JobServer on the same machine or does the folder have to be mapped?
    Keep in mind that for a job server on Windows, Windows shares with \\<server>\path are OK, but I don't believe there is any other network drive mechanism, so no NFS paths in the <server>:/ or trying // etc.
    Regards
    Norbert
    P.S. In production you should then switch to "execute" instead of load and execute and an ftp server instead of shared folders.
