Error using bind variables with SQL server with SQL92 mode

I am using 2 bind variable in my VO (JDBC positional) . The mode is SQL 92 for ADF BC. I do not use the bind variable directly but in a view criteria. I see following error in the logs.
The logs show the query executed and error.  I tried both ways - making bind variable required and not required. I have set -Djbo.SQLBuilder=SQLServer property. My other page works which has an updatable VO.
JDEV version is - JDEVADF_11.1.1.7.0_GENERIC_130226.1400.6493

  • VersioningError when Using JDBC driver for SQL Server with RMI

    Hi,
    I wrote a simple class for inserting rows into a database. The database is SQL Server 2000, and I am using weblogic's mssqlserver4 driver. The class works fine, but when I try to export the class as a remote object (using Sun's RMI implementation, not Weblogic RMI), I get the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" weblogic.common.internal.VersioningError: No WebLogic packages defined in CLASSPATH at weblogic.common.internal.VersionInfo.<init>(VersionInfo.java:35) at weblogic.version.<clinit>(version.java:18)

    Can anyone tell me why this happens? What is difference between using the driver standalone and using it with RMI? Does it have anything to do with the fact that I'm using Javasoft RMI and not Weblogic RMI? I'm pretty sure I have the classpaths set up correctly.
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
    BoHi. Show me the whole stacktrace of the exception. The issue seems to be the driver licensing
    code, which is looking for the bea.license file, and not finding it. Have your code run a System command
    to find and print out the classpath it thinks is in effect. You will then see if the license file is there.

  • Error creating table on MS SQL Server with OC4J standalone

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to deploy an EJB application to OC4J standalone using a MS SQL Server 2000 database, MS SQL Server JDBC Drivers and OC4J 9.0.3 standalone but i keep getting this error:
    Auto-creating table: create table Functieprofiel_competentieNiveau_CompetentieNiveau_functieprofiel_LBOS_Ear_LBOS_Ejb (Functieprofiel_FUNCTIE_ID bigint identity not null, COMP_ID bigint identity null, NIVEAU_ID sql_variant(255) null)

    Deployment succeeds after this but the application does not run properly. Can anyone help me with this? I have no idea what to do.

    if you want to stop the auto-creation of tables, try going to the j2ee/home/config directory of your OC4J installation. Open the application.xml file and modify the attribute autocreate-tables to be set to false.
    That should stop the default table creation as a global property, unless you specifically override it at the specific deployed application level.
    You can then manually create the tables on the sql-server database instance. If you keep the column names the same as the field names in the bean, then you shouldn't need to do any manual mapping. To be sure of the column names to use, take a look in the orion-ejb-jar.xml which gets generated in the j2ee/home/application-deployments/<app-name>/<ejb-module-name> to see what table/column names the generator defaulted to

  • Decode using bind variable in SQL

    I have decode statement in my SQL query which is used to define the VO object. I want to select a column depending on the value entered for the bind variable :1. dont know how to implement this in OAF - any pointers will be appreciated.

    I have decode statement in my sql for the VO and the VO is executed when the user clicks the GO button(user initiated search and over-riding the default Go button).
    When I click the Go button , I am calling a method called Uneditable in my AM which appends the decode variable using the whereclause append but it is failing with an exception "java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1". Can someone let me know if I am doing anything indifferently which is causing the program/sql query to fail.
    Binding style of the VO is "Oracle Named" - is this causing the problem?

  • Using SQLCMD variables in SQL Server Unit Test Project

    Is it possible to use SQLCMD variables in my SQL Server Unit Test Project? In my test initialize script I'd like to set a database name variable, something like this:
    :SETVAR MyDatabase "mydatabase"
    SELECT * FROM [$(MyDatabase)].[mytable]
    but I get syntax errors when I run the test. Any suggestions how I can get this to work.
    Result Message: Initialization method
    myTest.TestInitialize threw exception. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException:
    Incorrect syntax near ':'..

    Hi Kevin,
    What is the error?
    This should work only thing i could see is no scheme specified.
    SQL Server uses dbo as default schema.
    In your case:
    :SETVAR MyDatabase "mydatabase"
    SELECT * FROM [$(MyDatabase)].dbo.[mytable]
    Also check your instance collation if its Case sensitive then specify database and table name as exact case.
    Example:
    :SETVAR MyDatabase "[mydatabase]"
    :setvar schemavar "[dbo]"
    :setvar tablevar "[mytable]"
    SELECT * FROM $(MyDatabase).$(schemavar).$(tablevar)

  • Error using presentation variable in SQL Expression

    Hi all,
    I'm receiving an error - '...Error getting drill information...' due to a presentation variable being used in a SQL Expression. It probably has something to do with a data type issue. I've narrowed the error to the use of the presentation variable.
    I'm setting a presentation variable, pres_mth_nme_to, from a dashboard prompt. The prompt contains a month name.
    I'm using the presentation variable as part of a SQL Expression in a filter. The gist of the SQL Expression is to use the
    presentation variable in a CASE and set a value accordingly. For example:
    Column: Month Sort Value
    Operator: Between
    Value: *10*
    SQL Expression: *Case  @{pres_mth_nme_to}{some default} WHEN 'NOV' THEN '10' WHEN 'DEC' THEN '11' WHEN 'JAN' THEN '12' WHEN 'FEB' THEN '13' WHEN...END*
    The month name is character. If I were to hard code this, I don't recieve the error. For example:
    CASE 'SEP' WHEN 'NOV' THEN '10' WHEN 'DEC' ...END
    There something going on with the data type from the prompt and it being used in the comparison. If I use a CAST, the problem still exists.
    CASE CAST(@{pres_mth_nme_to} as char(3)) WHEN 'NOV' THEN ... END
    If I'm in Answers, the problem doesn't exist, I'm assuming because of the default values. If I'm on the dashboard, it does exist, I'm assuming because of recieving the prompt value.
    I don't know what I'm missing. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    DJ,
    if the formula presented by you is exactly true, i mean it was not fabricated to present as an example in the forum, you should include the presentation variable in single quotes.
    i.e. your formula must look somthing like
    Case '@{pres_mth_nme_to}{some default}' WHEN 'NOV' THEN '10' WHEN 'DEC' THEN '11' WHEN 'JAN' THEN '12' WHEN 'FEB' THEN '13' WHEN...END
    let me know if it did solve the issue...

  • ORA-01722: invalid number caused with SQL using bind variable

    Hi,
    Im am hoping that someone can help me resolve a problem thats only just services and is being experienced on quite a few clients.
    our application uses C++ exes and makes OCI calls to the database.
    what has happened in the last week or so, there has been quite a few invalid number errors being received on a prod server but strangly enough we cannot reproduct the error on our UAT system.
    The sql is using bind variables and the information in the trace file shows that a number is being used for the bind variable, here is an extract from one trace file:
    for some schemas, the bind variable value is some currupted value, i think:
    oacdty=01 mxl=32(21) mxlc=00 mal=00 scl=00 pre=00
    oacflg=03 fl2=1206001 frm=01 csi=178 siz=32 off=0
    kxsbbbfp=9a8d62b8 bln=32 avl=03 flg=05
    value="Â*d"
    but on another schema, the value used is:
    Bind#0
    oacdty=01 mxl=32(32) mxlc=00 mal=00 scl=00 pre=00
    oacflg=03 fl2=1206001 frm=01 csi=178 siz=32 off=0
    kxsbbbfp=c5f92718 bln=32 avl=04 flg=05
    value="2101"
    however both produce invalid number errors.
    I am relatively inexperienced as a DBA so would appreciate as much help as i can get.

    Could you post your sql statement that is being run.
    Also post the query plan from your uat system and the one from your production system (They are likely to be different)
    You can export the stats from your production system and run them in your uat system. If you do this, then the execution plans should be the same on both systems(dbms_stats) and if you have the same data you should run into the same problem on uat as in production.
    The root cause of this type of problem is having a column in a table which holds values which are of different datatypes. Typically there is a condition in the where clause which indicates that for example only numeric columns should be retrieved from the column which holds multiple data types. However since the optimizer is free to rewrite the query any way it sees fit, (It does not necessarily execute in the order the sql statement is written) it does not filter this data first, and therefore you hit non-numeric data and run into the invalid number error.
    You can use little techniques like using an inline view with rownum in the column list, to perform the first filter. This ensures that the inline view is executed on its own, rather than being merged (materialized) with the rest of the query.
    A quick temporary solution is to use a comparison like to_char(column_name) = variable
    Make sure your comparisons are correct and it doesn't negatively impact on performance of the query

  • Using bind variables with sql statements

    We connect from a VB 6.0 program via OO4O to an Oracle 8.1.7 database, using bind variables in connection with select statements. Running ok, but performance again by using bind vars not as good as expected!
    When looking into the table v$sqlarea, we were able to detect the reason. We expected that our program submits the sql statement with bind vars, Oracle parses this once, and with each select statement again, we do not have a reparse. But: It seems that with each new session Oracle reparses the sql statement, that is, Oracle is not able to memorize or cache bind vars and statements. Even more worrying, this kind of behaviour was visible with each new dynaset, but the same database/session.
    Is there anybody our there with an idea of what is happening here?
    Code snippet:
    Dim OraSession As OracleInProcServer.OraSessionClass
    Dim OraDatabase As OracleInProcServer.OraDatabase
    Set OraSession = CreateObject("OracleInProcServer.XOraSession")
    Set OraDatabase = OraSession.OpenDatabase(my database", "my connect", 0&)
    OraDatabase.Parameters.Add "my_bind", 0, ORAPARM_INPUT
    OraDatabase.Parameters("my_bind").DynasetOption = ORADYN_NOCACHE
    OraDatabase.Parameters("my_bind").serverType = ORATYPE_NUMBER ' Bind Var Type
    Dim RS As OracleInProcServer.OraDynaset

    Set RS = OraDatabase.CreateDynaset(strSQLstatement, &H4)
    OraDatabase.Parameters("my_bind").Value = myValue
    RS.Refresh

  • Correct Way to use Bind variables when using an MS SQL server backend

    Hey,
    I'm having some trouble figuring out how to use bind variables in a view when using an MS SQL server backend. For some reason when I'm using an ApplicationModule that has a MS SQL Server JDBC library loaded and I attempt to click OK when editing the following query:
    SELECT kit_status, component_id
    FROM numbered_inv
    WHERE trialname = :1
    I get an error stating that "SQL Query Error Message Incorrect Syntax near ':'". Is JDeveloper compatible with SQL server for bind variables because this query runs just fine if I replace the :1 with a say "Testing testing".
    Thanks in advance
    Edited by: NullCheck on Dec 15, 2010 2:06 PM

    Gotcha. I had tried %1% %0% ?0 and ?1 and various other permutations none of which worked. Got it working by setting the query to:
    SELECT kit_status, component_id
    FROM numbered_inv
    WHERE trialname = ?
    ORDER BY kit_status
    And then adding a bind variable with "Bind position" set to 0.
    Thanks again Shay!

    Why are you using dynamic SQL statements? Why not just use something like this instead in your PL/SQL. I also replaced the leading // in your Xpath with just / since you start from the root node.
    select *
      INTO l_dummy
      from xmltable(XMLNAMESPACES('http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' AS "XSD", default 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/'),
                    '/definitions/types/XSD:schema/XSD:element'
                    passing xmltype(l_xml)
                    columns
                    ab xmltype path '.' ) t;Also, the above returns two rows, which I suspect is not what you want. Here is the pure SQL version for you to debug.
    select *
      from xmltable(XMLNAMESPACES('http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' AS "XSD", default 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/'),
                   '/definitions/types/XSD:schema/XSD:element'
                   passing xmltype('<definitions name="F1" targetNamespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/orawsv/XFILES/F1" xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" xmlns:tns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/orawsv/XFILES/F1" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/">

  • Can I use Same ADF application with SQL server 2008 as well as Oracle 11g?

    Hi ,
    I have created a application in ADF(Using J-Developer). I used SQL server 2008 as Database Provider. I have same Database in Oracle 11g. I want to connect my appliction to Oracle 11g database. I changed connection and connected to Oracle. But, when I tried to save or delete any data from front end, it gave error. Any solution on this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I have created Entity object and View object for every page in my application. That objects created from sql server database. Application is working fine with sql server. But when connected with Oracle 11g. It is giving following errors:
    On clicking search control it gives: ORA 00923 From keyword not found where expected.
    On searching with perticular field it gives: ORA-01722: Invalid Number.
    On Clicking save buttonit gives: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended.
    These are error messages from IntegratedWebLogicServer-Log:

  • Using bind variable with IN clause

    My application runs a limited number of straight up queries (no stored procs) using ODP.NET. For the most part, I'm able to use bind variables to help with query caching, etc... but I'm at a loss as to how to use bind variables with IN clauses. Basically, I'm looking for something like this:
    int objectId = 123;
    string[] listOfValues = { "a", "b", "c"};
    OracleCommand command = new OracleCommand();
    command.Connection = conn;
    command.BindByName = true;
    command.CommandText = @"select blah from mytable where objectId = :objectId and somevalue in (:listOfValues)";
    command.Parameters.Add("objectId", objectId);
    command.Parameters.Add("listOfValues", listOfValues);
    I haven't had much luck yet using an array as a bind variable. Do I need to pass it in as a PL/SQL associative array? Cast the values to a TABLE?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Nevermind, found this
    How to use OracleParameter whith the IN Operator of select statement
    which contained this, which is a brilliant solution

  • Problem: VSS error with 'SQL Server Backup to Windows Azure Tool' installed

    When 'SQL Server Backup to Windows Azure Tool' is installed, shadow copies cannot be enable and backups fail.  When attempting to enable shadow copies, we get a "volsnap" error:  "The shadow copies of volume X were aborted because
    of a failed free space computation".  After uninstalling the "Tool", VSS works.  Reinstalling "Tool" causes the problem to return.
    While the error suggests a space issue, there is plenty of space on the server's two volumes.  Additionally, another 100GB volume was added and VSS storage was allocated to it; still received the error.
    Issue seems to point to 'SQL Server Backup to Windows Azure Tool'.
    Environment:  Hyper-V guest:  "Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard" with "SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard".  Using "Azure Storage" for SQL backups.
    Suggestions?

    Hello,
    Yes, we have a confirmed interference between the tool and the VSS Framework. This was identified very recently and is under investigation by the product group. Since the issue is within the filter driver shipped by the tool, that unfortunately means that
    you currently need to choose between the tool and a working VSS Framework. If the latter is more important, then uninstall the tool (that will require a restart).
    We apolologize for the inconvenience. I'm going to try to get the home page of the tool updated to avoid other situations like yours. Hopefully we should see a new version of the tool soon.
    As a side note, recent versions of SQL Server can directly use Azure Storage as backup target, see
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj919148(v=sql.110).aspx.

  • Error with SQL Server 2000 and Tomcat 4.1.12

    I'm using a JDBC Datasource with Tomcat 4.1.12 as follows.

    When I cause a database access within my application, I get the following horrifying result. It's the "Error Establishing Socket" error that's worrying me, as I'm using the native Microsoft SQL Server Drivers. The ones in my lib directory are msutil.jar, msutil.jar, and mssqlserver.jar
    Any thoughts?

    You can check two things
    1. Whether the ports to the database server are blocked by a fire wall.
    2. And more simpler and most probably the case here, you can try to findout if you can see the database server from the webserver. i.e. ping the database server from a console in the webserver.
