Error when dynamically acquiring string with variable string length

Hi,
I have written a VI to send voltage signal and read back the channel 1 and channel 2 data of a SR830 lockin amplifier using serial port. I obtain the channel readings as a single string separated by "," using the snap function. The problem is that when ever the channel 2 data gets very close to zero then the output is in engineering format like say 6.73883e-005. This is where the problem occurs. When such a situation is encountered, I always get a time out error. I have tried to increase the byte count in the read VISA ( till around 50) but then I get this error more often, but if I reduce it to something like 17, I only get this error as I mentioned above only when the channel 2 reading is very nearly zero. I have tried to reduce the byte (to as low as 8), but then I donot get back the whole channel 2 reading (this ch2 reading is also important to me). I am in a fix. Please give me a way out.

I am really sorry for the late reply. Well, I tried to increase the time constant inthe sr830 initialize VI, upto 240,000 ms. But I still get the error, and not always now when the reading is near zero. Can you please tell me whats wrong? I am in my very early days in labview and this is infact the first program I have written. BTW i am using a serial port to communicate with the SR830 lockin amplifier. Can you tell me in this context how I use SRQ? thanks in advance.

According to your description, you want to connect multiple database from multiple servers using dynamic connection.
If in this case, we can create a Table in our local database (whatever DB we want) and load all the connection strings. We can use Execute SQL Task to query all the connection strings and store the result-set in a variable of object type in SSIS package.
Then use ForEach Loop container to shred the content of the object variable and iterate through each of the connection strings. And then Place an Execute SQL task inside ForEach Loop container with the SQL statements we have to run in all the DB instances.

Replacing a special character in a string with another string

Hi
I need to replace a special character in a string with another string.
Say there is a string - "abc's def's are alphabets"
and i need to replace all the ' (apostrophe) with &apos& ..which should look like as below
"abc&apos&s def&apos&s are alphabets" .
Kindly let me know how this requirement can be met.

Another way is to open a command prompt as nspadm and run saplicense -install
To do this follow the steps below
Click "Start" -> "Run..." and enter:
runas /u:nspadm cmd
Enter nspadm's password. A command prompt appears running as user nspadm. Now change to \usr\sap\nsp\SYS\exe\run and run
saplicense -install

Error when opening a workbook with mandatory variables

BEx analyzer displays an error message window in the same time as the variable popup window.
The worbook is linked to 1 query that uses 2 mandatory variables (month ?, year ?), and was defined in the test system.
I assume that values are thus saved within the workbbok.
The developper had 0bi_all autorisation.
When a reporting user is opening it (also in the test system), the error message is displayed.
This happens only the 1st time when Analyzer is started, and by clicking on the OK button, we are able to run the query.
The next workbook refresh runs without the error message display.
Question = does anybody know the reason of this, and how to avoid the error message ?

error message E019(R9E) appears for each variable (thus, 2 time with a query with 2 variables):

i checked the query and authorisation with RSRV, but this didn't help, furthermore, a lot a functions are not implemented in the system, sorry.
i also changed the query and workbook, and i think that it depends on the workbook release 3.x or 7.
imagine following situations: same query 7.0, same workbook 7.0
with BI7
1) opening the query with variables doesn't display the error message
2) refreshing the workbook with the query with variables displays the error message (only for a non mandatory variable - as soon as there is a variable, the error message is displayed)
3) refreshing the workbook with the query without variables doesn't display the error message
with BW 3.x
4) refreshing a new workbook 3.x with the query with variables doesn't display the error message
i also investigate in the function modules for workbooks (RS...), but nothing helped.
i still think that it is linked to authorisations, because with sap_all, the message isn't displayed.
how can i continue ?

Maxl statement is:
alter application 'APPL_NAME' set variable 'VARIABLE_NAME' 'Q1'$CurrYear;
$CurrYear is a variable in Maxl with value '_2010', so that the result should be a substitution varialbe in ESSBASE 'VARIABLE_NAME' with value 'Q1_2010'
Is it possible?

Function: set CurrYear = '2010'; and set concatVar = Q1$CurrYear; seems not to be worked :-((
i faced a message: "Variable CurrYear has not been defined. Do you want to define it?"
And below in window:
"Script: ignoring command:set CurrYear = '_2010' ".
I can define a variable with right click -> set variable.. but then i should to define it every time i open a script. It's not good :-(
Do you have any Idea?
P.S.
I found out that:
alter application 'APPL_NAME' set variable 'VARIABLE_NAME' $CurrQuart$CurrYear; works. But then i have to define 39 variables each time :-((

APD - error when activating, problem: 7.0 variable with long technical name

Hello everybody!
I have got the following problem:
I created an APD, with one filter on 0calday using a variable. This variable was created on our own and works without any problems. It's a 7.0 variable with a long description "W_E_M_0CALDAY_WDLAS"
If I try to activate the APD I get an error message "Analysis Process Has Errors, Activation Is Not Possible" and "Variable W_E_M_0CALDAY_WDLAS does not exist actively". But this variable is active!
My colleague told me, that there seems to be a problem with long technical names of variables in APD. I tried to find a SAP note to this topic, but I didn't.
Had anyone else this problem? How was it solved? Or are there any SAP notes I didn't find?

In the meantime I copied the variable to a shorter name, but it still doesn't work. I tried it with a 3.x variable and a 7.0 variable. In the exit I first added an OR condition to the when-case, but this didn't also help. Afterwards I copied the whole coding in a separate when-clause.
Stil not successful. Factory calender is OK. The variables also work in a normal query but not in the APD - the result of the last workday is always '00000000'.
Any ideas?

Using include with variables (String)?

Is it possible to include a *.jspf page from a variable (string)?
I'm currently trying something like this, but I know it isn't quite correct (the PAGE string is already defined):

Ok, you're mixing up your EL expressions with scriptlet variables.
These things are not the same.
String PAGE = "pages/home.jspf"; decleares a scriptlet variable called PAGE
You can normally access it using the scriptlet expression tag like <%= PAGE %>
${PAGE} is an EL expression.
The EL variables are stored as attributes in the page, request, session and application scopes.
So ${PAGE} will not give you the value of the scriptlet variable Page.
${PAGE} is approximately equal to pageContext.findAttribute("PAGE") in java.
Probably the easiest fix would be to use a scriptlet expression rather than an EL expression.
<jsp:include page="<%= PAGE %>"/>The better fix would be not to use any scriptlet code at all in your JSP, and maybe just use the JSTL conditional tags.

could you provide much more details about the source and target structures and the mappings you need to define?
Something like :
Source:
Country (single or multiple? )
..Country (single or multiple? )
..Code (single or multiple? )
Target
Country (single or multiple? ) --> does it have the same type as the source node?
In general If you try to assign a list of values to target which accepts single value you are most likely to get exception like the one given in your post.
In other words let's assume :
Country[]     Country
..Country------>Country
..Code
this will throw exception at runtime in most of the cases.
The reason is that the result of select Country/Country is a list with all Countries. And then the engine will try to assign this list to the single valued target node.
Is this what you have described or it si something different?
BTW for the example above there is a fix in SP1 and such kind of mappings are marked as erroneous.

As far as I know the error is typically due to the fact that I'm trying to address an object that has not been set. E.g.; this could be due to bad scoping, bad inits/constructs, trying to access a member of a class without instance object and so on. I suspect this is a design \ code issue. You might be able to confirm this using [Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx].

Getting Error when we are using same variable value in parallel flows

Hi All
In one of the case we will get a Zipped folder in which we have 4 different types of files . we will have date in folder name . we want to insert that date in all the 4 types file data . so we are storing the filedate in a variable and we are planning to
insert that variable value in all the 4 types files . when we are loading data in parallel of those 4 files (if the folder size is less than 20MB there is no problem ) we are getting the below error . If we run them in Sequence it is working
fine without error . Please suggest what will be the issue .

It might be a data type casting issue caused by memory pressure. Please try to use the minimal length of data types that meet the requirements. Besides, if the package runs in 32-bit runtime mode, try to execute it in 64-bit runtime mode. In addition, if
the issue is not happening in the production environment, I suggest that you install the latest Service Pack for your SQL Server 2008 (R2).

Error when refreshing WEBI report with Universe Connection Type "SSO"

Hi Experts:
We are trying to refresh the Webi report in Infoview with Universe Connection set as "Use Single Sign On when refreshing the report at view time", so that we can leverage SAP OLAP authorization variable from Bex Query which the Universe is built on.
However got the error of "incomplete logon data" after all the configurations done following below blogs:

We already have Win AD SSO to SAP setup, and in BO CMC, Win AD user is mapped to SAP user ID.
The SNC settings are:
- AD Account: service.test.bobj (all lower-letters)
- 32-bit gsslib on the BO server, and 64 bit on the BW server side.
- SNC0: p:service.test.bobj at DOMAIN
- SU01 --> BO_Service ; SNC: p:service.test.bobj at DOMAIN
- Entitlement system tab --> username: BO_Service
SNC Name: p:service.test.bobj at DOMAIN
- SNC settings tab:
SNC Lib: c:\winnt\gsskrb5.dll
Mutual Authentication settings: p:SAPServiceBP0 at DOMAIN
In CMC, the role can be imported if "RFC activated" option unchecked in SNC0.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, we are trying to set up server side trust and enable SSO; but we still couldn't success.
What we did is:
1. We followed installation guide chapter 6, generate certificate and PSE, etc. All looks good.
2. Then we still have the "incomplete logon data" error when refreshing webi report after logon using Windows AD user ID.
3. Then we trace the PFC connection, the log is as below. We checked several BO notes, e.g. 1500150, 1461247.. The part bothers us is that we even don't have URI displayed in the log when system trying to use SNC, and we couldn't get more info on this which make us very difficult to diagnosis.
