Error while performing automated TSPITR

Question

Hi
I am trying to perform full automated point in time reconvery on our 11g database
the backups are on tape.

Why do I get this error ?
I cannot allocate an auxiliary channel because then I get the error :
RMAN-06174: not connected to auxiliary database
And I cannot connect to the auxiliary DB - it was not created yet ( that's the whole point of the automated TSPITR , I believe )

I found Metalink document 391785.1
this sounds very similar to what I am having
Even though this bug is said to be fixed in 11g - probably its not fully fixed
So , my only option is to use the manual way and create the auxiliary instance myself :-(
