Errors on enhancing OData services

Dear Experts,
For quite sometime I have been witnessing this issue across various scenarios but could not really find a fix for this.
While enhancing an OData service (New Project - > Data Model -> Redefining -> OData service GW and providing the technical artefacts of the existing service), the properties of the existing service is added to the new project repository.
A key property of an entity is then set as nullable = false by the gateway modeller automatically (Unlike in the existing service) and throws an error as expected. It looks like a bug and I'm not quite sure how to handle this.
Please let me know if anyone knows a fix for this.

I am on SAP_GWFND 740 007 and facing this error.
However, It is baffling that this is not happening on every scenario. I am trying to debug and check this but not much information at the moment.

Error while running an Odata service in Advanced Rest Client

Hi Experts,
We have created one simple OData model (using Integration gateway) with datasource as SOAP web service. We are able to test the SOAP Web service in STORM tool and getting desired response. But when we run the converted OData URL in Advanced REST Client we are getting the following exceptions/errors.
Could not send message
Also, while looking at SMP3 server log, we came across below error logs:

After updating my DB and do the ODATA service after completion of that hit the server in chrome it shows error like

Iam new to SAP FIORI.
Iam getting the below error while accessing the data using odata service.

i have tried all the solutions like changing the url pattern "proxy/htttp".
and disabled - security in chrome (Chrome is Updated version).
i tried with IE still got the same problem.
And installed all the required software in eclipse
While installing GWPA plugin i got the following error.

Yes, you do have the SAPR3 user.
But you don't seem to like to read documentation or learn about how the tools work or anything like that.
Therefore I gave you s simple way to reach your goal.
Of course it's possible to reuse the user.
But then you would have to deal with already existing tables, already existing data etc.
You don't seem to be able to do that. So, the easy steps might be better suited for your needs.

Error connecting OData service with Appbuilder

Hello,
I have created an OData service with SAP Netweaver Gateway and there isn't any problem while testing the service on the browser.
I made all the right settings in SMP 3.0 and the system is reached successfully from the server.I am developing the app with appbuilder so when trying to connect with SMP onboarding service there is the following error. Failed to get Service metadata.I can see the metadata in the browser so i can not understand what this error means.
If anybody can help it would be very useful because im in a deadlock.

OData Service Internal Server Error

Hello,
I developed SAP Netweaver Gateway Odata Service and I get "Internal Server Error" 500 on READ Operation. BAPI Itself does function well.
Where could be the problem?

Hi Vladislav,
You will get further information about the nature of the error by checking the error logs in the server(s), tcodes /iwbep/error_log and/or /iwfnd/error_log. If you have an embedded GW server, look in the /iwfnd logs.
You may find the list is blank until you use the 'Re-select' button and change the settings, so don't assume there are not errors to see!.
Make sure you have full trace access settings configured in views /IWFND/V_LOGV and /IWBEP/C_LOGV. These views are normally empty, there are two possible new entries that can be made and the possible values are on the F4 lists.
If this is a data translation error, you won't get a direct answer from the log but it can be used to pin down the nature of the exception.
If you can get this far, I can point you on to a technique for analysing the error during runtime - but it needs an error log result to be able to relate to.

And also when I am calling the entity set 'EmployeeCollection' of the odata service it is giving the below error,
Kindly tell me, which will help me to cal the data of the EmployeeCollection entity set of the odata service. How I can connect to that odata with the help of the NetWeaver Gateway? And why this errors are coming? Do I need any authorization from our HR team of our company to connect to this odata service to retrieve data or the data should come automatically?

To understand the error,
1.go to developer console in chrome by pressing F12.
2. Next go to network tab and refresh the application by pressing F5.
3.In the network tab you will see an OData service call being fired to fetch Employee collection data. 4.Right click on the call and open it in a new tab. There you can see the actual error message.
From the error you have posted it looks like, the Entity collection expects atleast one filter condition to be passed while calling the collection. Calling the Entity collection without any filter is equivalent to 'SELECT *' without any WHERE clause. However in this case the particular service enforces a where clause by specifying a $filter option. If no $filter is supplier it raises an exception which you get here.

Getting error while quering the odata service

It cannot happen that GW is throwing EMPLOYEECOLLECTI_GET_ENTITYSET is not implemented even after you have written code in that method by redefining it.
I could see that you are raising an exception in the code shared by you here . i.e.,
RAISE EXCEPTION TYPE /iwbep/cx_mgw_not_impl_exc
    EXPORTING
      textid = /iwbep/cx_mgw_not_impl_exc=>method_not_implemented
      method = 'EMPLOYEECOLLECTI_GET_ENTITYSET'.
Please remove above code and return your response as below.
copy_data_to_ref( EXPORTING is_data = et_tab CHANGING cr_data = er_entityset )
where et_tab is your local table where you would have stored the results which you intend to send back to GW. i.e., et_entityset in your case
Activate DPC class and check.
This should resolve the issue

How to capture Exception error message in Odata ?

Hi,
I am new to sap gateway. Currently i am creating a Odata Service through the transaction SEGW. In the query i have mapped a RFC. When i execute the service sometimes the RFC throws exception like 'No data Found'. But i dont know how to capture the exception returned from the RFC.
I read some threads which says use
RAISE EXCEPTION TYPE /IWBEP/CX_MGW_BUSI_EXCEPTION
      EXPORTING
        textid            = /iwbep/cx_mgw_busi_exception=>business_error
        message       = lv_text
        message_container = io_message_container.
My doubt is since i have not done any code in the DPC method. As said in many threads should i go to DPC_EXT method and redefine the method or how to capture the exception.

You need not to capture the error messages explicitly by writing custom code in you DPC_EXT if you are using service builder when the return error message table is of type BAPIRET2.
GW itself will handle and return the error messages.
If at all the return error message table is of different type , i mean to say if it is not of type BAPIRET2 then you need to capture explicitly.
The below is the code you need to write in DPC_EXT to capture.
DATA: LO_MECO TYPE REF TO /IWBEP/IF_MESSAGE_CONTAINER.
DATA: LX_BUSI_EXC TYPE REF TO /IWBEP/CX_MGW_BUSI_EXCEPTION.
        LO_MECO = MO_CONTEXT->GET_MESSAGE_CONTAINER( ).
         LO_MECO->ADD_MESSAGES_FROM_BAPI( IT_BAPI_MESSAGES = LT_ERR_RET_TAB ).
         CREATE OBJECT LX_BUSI_EXC
           EXPORTING
             MESSAGE_CONTAINER = LO_MECO.
         RAISE EXCEPTION LX_BUSI_EXC.
Note : where LT_ERR_RET_TAB is your internal table where you would have captured all the error messages.
That is it. You will be able to see the messages .

Anyone been able to get the sap.ca.ui.FileUpload control working with a Gateway OData service?

I have been trying to get the sap.ca.ui.FileUpload control working with an OData Gateway service, specifically /IWPGW/TASKPROCESSING which is the service used by both Fiori Approve Requests and the Unified Inbox.
I have looked at the sample application in the Explored at SAPUI5 Explored
I have managed to replicate that and get it to work, but as soon as I switch it from a JSONModel to an ODataModel I get javascript errors from within the setModel method of the control. I have redefined that method and corrected the errors, which enables me to get a bit further, but then I hit more errors, and other strange behaviour.
Either I am doing something completely wrong, or to me it appears as if this control is still extremely buggy and maybe either not designed to work with an ODataModel, or just hasn't been tested using an ODataModel. I'm hoping it is my mistake.
So has anybody out there successfully managed to use this control connecting it to a Gateway OData service? If so please share your experience.

So sap.m.URLHelper.redirect(media_src, true); is what loads the attachment.

This should be enough if you only want to list and display the attachments, then you don't really need the FileUploader control as that is more advanced and handles upload, display, change and deletion of files.
I only needed to upload and display files, so I used a list to display it and created a separate upload button using the sap.ui.unified.FileUploader control.

SUP 2.1.3 MBO creation using ODATA service

Hi All,
I am using SUP 2.1.3 and trying to consume OData service created using SEGW transaction on gateway. following an older document i moved ahead by creating XSD files from the XML file.
But,after uploading the XSD file , i chose the root element as 'feed' .
After this , one XSLT file is generated automatically.
But , when I click the XSLT file to edit , it shows error saying 'java.lang.NullPointerException' .
I have to follow the methodology of creating MBO's using OData service and then deploying it on server.
Please help me to move ahead with ODATA service in SUP 2.1.3 version.
Appreciate your quick help and assistance on this.

How to use Alias name in OData service in SAP HANA

Hi,
     I need to change one column name with alias of another name in odata service definition or odata url running in rest client. I am trying to give alias name with as key in the service definition like sql query.
ex:
There is one table with column name of PRODUCT_ID. I exporting that table via odata service to SAP UI. In the UI i dont want the product id column as PRODUCT_ID. It should be ike "Prodcut". Like we are using in SQL example
select "PRODUCT_ID" as "Product" from "producttab";
But i can't use as key for alias name. So i am getting syntax error.
I have tried in rest client also ie executing odata file in rest based service. But i got error only.
If anyone knows about this alias name in odata service, Please help me to resolve this issue..

     Actually in odata service definition i am using attribute and calculation views only. But in some case from the model view itself i need to use some alias names to the UI through odata service.
     For example in attribute view i have some columns with name col1,col2... I am getting those columns in UI using odata service, for particular col2 column i need to change column name as product. And i am using the same view as source of another odata service in that service i need to change that column name as productname.
     In that case i need alias name usage. So that only i am searching alias keyword in odata service.
     Is there any possibility to use alias names in odata service.

getting bad request means your URI is not correct. try with
http://<hostname>:<port>/sap/opu/sdata/iwcnt/employee/EmployeeCollection
let me know if you get any specific error with above query.
how can I connect to the HR system with GW? Is that can be done by using GW?
it depends if you will be getting employee details from SAP HR system which is separate from SAP NW GW or part of it. ie. based on your deployment scenarios(http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw74/helpdata/en/3e/b1ea508f88bb7ee10000000a445394/content.htm ) and accordingly confuguration should be in place

PowerBI throwing errors for validated OData data source

Hi,
I've been creating OData web services for various operations for months now, and validate the service output using odata.org for all versions of Odata (V1-V4)
Yet when my co-worker tries to load one of these OData services as a data source, PowerBI throws this error:
[DataSource.Error] Cannot parse OData response result. Error: A node of
type 'StartArray' was read from the JSON reader when trying to read a
value of a property; however, a 'PrimitiveValue' or 'StartObject' node
was expected.
The only OData source that has worked with PowerBI is one in which we turned off all properties that were not Strings. In other words, as soon as the source has property types like Arrays, Objects or Dates, we get errors with PowerBI.
But the data validates with odata.org validator, so I am at a complete loss to understand how to "fix" data which is not broken.
Is there a guide available somewhere showing what "subset" of OData that PowerBI accepts? And are there plans to update PowerBI in the future to accept valid OData?
