ESS Error- Data source contains no columns which can be displayed

Hi
After the application of support packs, an error is observed in ESS applications where the data/content has to be displayed in tabular format.
On accessing Personal Data application, error message is displayed -
   Error Occured
   Data source contains no columns which can be displayed
   Screenshot is also attached for reference.
   Please help in resolving the issue.

I cannot find anything on this in my search. I checked the limits page:

It does not specify any column limits; however, I'm thinking it is tied to LINESIZE which is system dependent.

Received answer directly from SQL*Plus Development:
"sqlplus does not have a limit on the number of columns it displays."
They created a table with more than 256 columns with data and had no problem retrieving the data.

Refresh data source view gets 'column' argument cannot be null

When I try to refresh a data source view in SQL Server 2008 BIDS, I get the error: System.Data 'column' argument cannot be null. Parameter name: column. How to resolve this? The underlying tables have no data yet.

The error message should be caused by FOREIGN KEY constraint auto-generated. If you
add a FOREIGN KEY to the generated table, then you will see the error message after clicking refresh button. Please submit this issue to below official link and then post the link back here, I think we need to get confirmation from product group.

PowerPivot report data refresh error Data source as SharePoint list Data Feed

Hi All,
I am facing a problem on auto refresh, the report data source is SharePoint list Data Feed, I saved it my PC desktop when I set up auto fresh it fails then I moved the SharePoint list data feed "atomsvc" file to A SharePoint Data feed library then connected
to report started a manual refresh it was success, after next schedules it failed.
Error massage:
Errors in the high-level relational engine. The following exception occurred while the managed IDbConnection interface was being used:
The network path was not found. ;The network path was not found. The network path was not found. .
A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of '82f49f39-45aa-4d61-a15c-90ebbc5656d',
Name of 'DataFeed testingreport'. An error occurred while processing the 'Testing Report' table. The operation has been cancelled.

If you are using Claims Auth then this is a known limitation. Auto refresh only works under Classic Auth.

Xml data source in db column?

Hi everybody
If I want to use XML data as data source for BI Publisher, can these data be stored in a database column
or do I have to store the source data in XML files in a file system?
If it can be stored in a db column - is there anything I need to consider in terms of defining the data source and building the data model?

data can be stored in
1) table column as xmltype or clob or blob or .....
so you can parse this column in some way by xquery or xmltable or ...
2) as os file
processing by bfilename like
xmltype( bfilename('GET_XML', xmlfilename.xml))

IDT ODBC Error - Data source name not found...

Hello,
In the IDT, I have created a successful connection to a Relational Connection to my SQL Server datasource. However, when I try to access the data in the Data Foundation, I get the error, "ODBC Driver Manager. Data source name not found and no default driver specified. I am trying to use a shortcut to the connection in the repository. I am able to make a local connection to this database using the same steps above but I'm only getting this error when using the respository connection.
I appologize if I have not explained this well or used the right terminology as I've only been using this tool for about a month with very little support. The support I do get does not know what this problem is as they are able to connect to it fine on their computer.

This is the product limitation.
Combination of 32-bit and 64-bit data providers in a Multi-source enabled Data Foundation is not supported.
Remove ODBC Drivers 32-bit for SQL Server from the user's workstation and Install ODBC Drivers
64-bit.

OBDC Data Source Error - Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Hello,
I get this error whenever I try to use the "Modify Microsoft Access Database" tab to update my
Access 2000 database after a conversion:
Unable to connect to target database.
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft] [ODBC Driver Manager]
Data source name not found and no default driver specified
Now, the weird thing is that when I log in as Administrator and go to the "Control Panel" there is
no "ODBC Data Sources" option to chose from. So I went to the "Microsoft ODBC Administrator"
from the "Configuration and Migration Tools" tab instead. I tried configuring "omwb_msaccess"
under the "User DSN" tab with both the name of my Access file, and the "small.mdb" file that was
in the omb directory. No go for either one. Whatever I try I still get the same pop-up box.
Question:
(1) What should I be putting for the "ODBC Data Source" when I try to Migrate my Access Database?
(2) Any other idea/configuration issue I might be missing that could do this? The process works up
to the Access Update point, and I configured the repository correctly.

Nope, I'd already tried both of those things. I checked again, but no go.
I think the problem may be that I'm not entering the right value in the
"ODBC Data Source" field on the Migration Workbench "Modify Microsoft
Access Database" form - the same one where you enter a "Username" and
"Password" for the conversion. What should I be entering here? What is
the standard filename?

Infa version 8.1, DAC 795. Plain vannila installation with SQL server. Both client and server installed in same machine.
DAC connectivity both with infa and oltp working fine. When ETL is run, Informatica session logs are giving following error:

Dear All,
I'm working on SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.0 SP 6 Patch 2 and my data source for the analysis is an Universe. I've created my main report and designed a query in the main query for "National Sales" and I have Calendar Year and Division as my prompts for this query. For the next level I want to show sales in different regions and for this I've inserted a subreport and designed my query accordingly with two prompts Calendar Year and Division. During, the query design I had to link the Main report with Subreport and I did with available objects and then I did Parameters linking. This is for the first, time that I'm linking main report with sup-report. When I went to chart to link the Data I faced the following error:
1. Have I missed something while linking two reports?
2. In both reports/queries I've same prompts and I try to link them, have I linked them correctly? How to link main report to sub-report?
3. How to get rid of the above error?
4. How can I achieve following requirement, National Sale then Regional Sales and then selected Region's Zones Sales and then Selected Zone's Customers sales?

What data sources use for report which looks like tr. FS10N

Hello,
I would like to create report in BW which will looks like transaction FS10N (G/L account balance display). Can anybody give some tips which data sources I should use and how initialize these data sources?
There is old genereal ledger in our system, so I suppose that I need data sources 0FI_GL_20 and 0FI_GL_21 but I don´t know how initialize it.

I asked because f.e. retail data sources 2LIS_03_BF or 2LIS_03_UM had to be initialize via tr. OLI1BW and OLIZBW. After that data sources were filled and then data could be loaded to BW by infopackages. But thanks for info that some data sources needn't initialization. By the way, is somewhere info about this (if data source need initialization and how find out transaction for initialization)? Thanks for advices.
About data sources 0FI_GL_20 and 0FI_GL_21: We delayed this because there is needed to switch on function Reporting financials (tr. SFW5) and other things -> I didn't recieve confirming (from higher position) that I can switch it on

How to get the data by excluding the columns which are having null values

I have a table with 10 columns , 3 columns are having all null values . I want to retrive the data by excluding these 3 columns. That means output table should contain only 7 columns .

How can I define the Oracle data source flexible so that I can change?

Dear all:
I have a problem in define the crystal report file(.rpt) in Crystal report desinger 9 by using Oracle database.
Since in the "Control Pancel" -> "ODBC" ->, I can't find the oracle DNS definition in order to define the ORACLE database's IP address, port etc. So I can't allocate the Datasource in "Data base" -> "Define Data source" of Crystal report 9 desinger. Finally, I have to explicitly define the Data source by browsing the Oracle DB in "Define Data source" function. It is not flexible while I want to switch the DB server by change its IP adress.
But in contrast, I can easily define a MS SQL server DNS and allocate it to .rpt file.
Is that something I was wrong? Any reference or answer are appriciated!

Moved to Crystal Reports Database forum.
CR needs an Oracle Client installed. Once it is installed then you'll find a driver to create a DSN and then you can set location to another Oracle Server.
You have to first install the Oracle Client.
It's also better to create your reports off of Oracle, it's easier to then set location to MS SQL Server.

ODS as data source for the next ODS - can't see the name in the DS list

Hello, experts!
Need your help. I'm trying to use Staging ODS for the transaction data to populate data into next level of ODS - Standard ODS. The problem is that Staging ODS does not appear in the Data Source list for the Standard ODS when I Assign data sources(and would not let me paste the Staging ODS data source name either). I did Replicate data source for the Staging ODS and Generate Export data sources but it did not fix the problem.
Any suggestions?

OK, you're talking about the selection screen "Available datasources" showing only 50 entries right?
In my system the screen can show more than 900... must be one of your user settings in the gui...
just under the tab "restrictions" there is a line with an arrow pointing down; click this line to expand the restrictions...
In the DataSource field enter 8* or 8<ODS_TECH_NAME> in order to see your DSource.
Otherwise in RSA13 in your Dsources overview, right click it and "assign infosource"; it will also make it...

Error 2003000: ODBC Error: Data source name not found or no default driver

I am running Essbase (9.3.1) Integration server on 64-bit Microsoft Windows server 2003 (SP 2) and I get above error when I am trying create an OLAP metadata catalog using Integration Service Console.
Could anybody help me please?

I think you may be right. I didn't run the configurability utility and I am running Essbase Server & Integration Server as console applications (not as windows services). The problem with the Integration server is there no console application window for it but there is one for Essbase Server which I had to enter the password. If I run the Integration Server again under Command prompt then I get a message saying that it has been already running on this machine but I cannot see any console window. Do you think if reboot the server this problem go away? I look forward to hearing from.

Hi,
1. Go to any report with link column to a form. It is a very common situation.
2. Go to the link column Column Attributes/Column Link/Target and change it to URL.
3. javascript:popupURL('f?p=&APP_ID.:205:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::::YES','Help','scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=625,height=350,left=25,top=150');
4. Replace 205 (It is my page number) with the number of the page which you are working on.
5. Apply/Apply/Run the page.
6. You should see the printer friendly version of your page in separate window without loosing original one.
This is a very simple, easy to use and understand example.
You can replace “205” with any report showing Address … for the client.
