ESS + JCO + Multiple backend support

XSS with multiple backends
Hi All, we have a portal running with the standard ESS business package u2013 we use the system for demo purposes, and would like to be able to connect to different backend systems u2013 depending on the user.
IE, user XX connects to system DP4 and user YY connects to system ID4 u2013 is this possible?
My own approach was:
I made 2 delta copies of the of the standard ESS role to two folders u2013 XX and YY
XX I didnu2019t change, and therefore it used the standard SAP_R3_HumanResources JCO connection, which points to system DP4.
Then in the folder YY, I changed the WebDynpro iView parameter to:
sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData:ID4&sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_HumanResources:ID4
and in the Webdynpro Content administrator I created these systems and called them:
SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaDataID4 u2013 as the guide from sap descripes.
This did however not seem to work, as metadata was still readout from DP4 while application data was Read out from ID4.
Then I noticed that the application eg. WhoIsWho also refers to som additional applications, such as
Xssfpmutil and so on u2013 and they use the JCO: SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics, so I created a
SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenericsID4, and added this to the parameter string, so I know looks like:
sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData:ID4&sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_HumanResources:ID4&sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics:ID4&sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaData:ID4
But this doesnu2019t work, some of the data is still read from Dp4 instead of ID4
So my question is u2013 is it possible to use ESS with two backends, or is this not supported?
Help is MUCH appreciated

Hi stuart!
I made two copies of the standard ESS role
ESS_XX and ESS_YY, and then i changed i iview parameters for each iview
(by breaking the deltalink in both roles),
giving them the following application parameter:
sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData:ID4&sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_HumanResources:ID4&sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics:ID4&sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaData:ID4
But the problem is that while the user YY gets modeldata form system YY the user gets metadata from system XX
(assuming he is created on system XX, if not we get an error).
so i guess the parameters somehow dont match.
Has anyone used the same portal for different backends with sucess?

  • WD Exception when pointing ESS Travel & Expense to multiple backend systems

    Hi All,
I have a query regarding ESS Travel Management pointing to multiple backend systems.
ESS MSS is installed on a single portal(Portal1).
ESS MSS is currently pointing to Backend System1. The requirement is that ESS Travel from Portal1 should point to various multiple Backend Systems therefore making ESS Travel region-specific.
Is this possible? and if so what are the pros and cons?
This is what I have attempted:
    1. Followed the documentation from "Multiple Back End Support for the Adaptive RFC Model" [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/af/84a34098022a54e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm]
Therefore, I created 2 JCOs namely: SAP_R3_Travel_R1 and SAP_R3_Travel_MetaData_R1 pointing to Backend Sytem 2. SSO and JCO tests successfully.
    2. On the iview properties for ESS Travel & Expenses, I added the following to the Application Parameters: sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_Travel:_R1&sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_Travel_MetaData:_R1
    3. I additionally created a system in the Portal under  System Configuration pointing to Backend System2 and adding the SAP_R3_Travel_R1 as the default System Alias. Do I need to add SAP_ITS_XSS and SAP_WebDynpro_XSS system alias, if so how since it is seeing as redundant because it is added in the system I created for Backend System1.
    4. I then tested one of the ESS Travel & Expenses iviews. I have the following error:
Accessing System XYZ is not possible because RFC Metadata was retrieved using System ABC. Please assure you have configured the RFC Connections properly. A Server restart may be necessary!
    Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Multiple backend systems for business package ESS/MSS

    Hi,
I would like to know whether there is a smart solution for connecting the business package ESS/MSS with multiple backend systems (up to 10 systems).
I am aware of the possibility using parameter "sap-wd-arfc-useSys", but this implies, that content needs to be duplicated n-times in order to be able to maintain the Jco destination suffix.
Any hint, also for custom built solutions are very welcome!
    Best regards,

  • How UWL support substitution in multiple backend scenario?

    Hello experts,
We are using UWL with multiple backend - 3 ERPs. If I define a substitution rule in portal, I think this rule will be replicated in all the 3 ERPs otherwise my substitute in the backend could not get my work items in UWL. Is it correct? Do you have more information about this topic?
thank you for your help in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Huaiyang

    Dear Huaiyang,
You are right, if you have multiple systems connected to UWL , then substitution set via UWL has been entered in all systems.
However it is not possible to restrict substition settings to a particular system. If the user set a substitution via UWL, then it will be set in all connected system as well. UWL set the substitution at backend level in the normal substituion table HRUS_D2.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mapping of single Portal users to multiple backend user

    Hello Experts,
It is possible to map single portal user to the multiple R/3 user? If yes, than what is procedure to achieve it?
I have a SAP Portal where some users have 2 user ID in ECC, but I need to in Portal the users have only one user ID and password. How can I do to these users can select between their 2 profiles in ECC? Is posible?
    Thanks!
    Regards

    Hi,
This is not possible since  you would have used SSO to connect to the Backend. Either it is SSO or User Mapping is done, Portal User can only access the Backend with one User ID.
If you use SSO, for Example if the Portal User is UserA then you would have the UserA in the Backend too. It will use the UserA in backend to access.  (Note: Single User can't access multiple Backend. Since we would have already maintained the Backend Connection details in the System and also in JCo Destination. So it is not possible for a User to access the Backend with two different Backends)
If you use User Mapping, then you can decide the User which it should use. (For ESS/MSS this is not recommended and it is not feasible too).

  • Programmatic access to multiple backend systems using adaptive RFC

    Hello,
The following  link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/af/84a34098022a54e10000000a1550b0/content.htm talks about the support to map multiple backend systems by specifying the backend system as URL parameters in a webdynpro application.
    For example:
    http://<hostname>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/ESSProject/ESSApp?
    sap.wdarfc.useSys=WD_MODELDATA_DEST:ABC&
    sap.wdarfc.useSys=WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST:ABC
Is it possible to programmatically change the backend systems the application connects to? in other words can a single application while executing connect to different backend systems by dynamically changing the model parameters?
(This should be possible without the portal in the picture)
    Cheers,
    Praveen

I know that SRM 7.0 can be set up for multiple backends in the classic scenario.
And i assume it is also possible to do so in the EXTENDED classic scenario.
Could somebody please confrim that this is possible?
Has somesone already set up this landscape and any recommendations, advice, hits, do's and dont's?

  • Multiple Backend for APO system

    hi Experts,
I have a scenario to connect multiple backend (ERP system Ehp4) to the APO system (7.0 SP 03). The ERP development system & ERP  support system will be connected to one APO system which will be used for development.
    the query is,
    1. will there be any problem in this kind of landscape (for txn data, master data & transports)
    2. does SAP give any standard feature to connect this way
    3. how can the data from one APO identified uniquely to be sent to different ERP systems.
    4. generally what are the difficulties in this scenario?
    Thanking you in anticipation.
    Regards,
    Vasudevan

    Hi,
Definitely APO can be connected to multiple R/3 systems.
    1. You need to maintain the BSG group to differentiate the 2 R/3 systems. Please read SAP help on BSG.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/ba/737b3704716066e10000009b38f889/frameset.htm
The BSG helps to differentiate master data between the 2 or more R/3 systems
    2. CIF setting (CFM1 & CFM2) in R/3 & publication setting (/n/SAPAPO/CP1) in APO is critical for data transfer between the right systems (R/3 & APO).
APO identifies from Publicaiton setting, the R/3 system where the data is to be transferred for a particluar location (same location is not expected to be in both the R/3 system)
    3. For issue related to the BUoM, you can maintain the conversion factor between the BUoM in the material master in both the R/3 systems.
We have similar scenario, where in 2 R/3 systems having same materials codes have different BuoM. We maintain the converstion factor in alternative UoM to avoid UoM issues. We are not facing much issues expect for Sales order, where we get difference in delta report. we just transfer the blocked Queues to APO.
    hope this helps.

  • Multiple Backends, e-Sourcing

Hi all, we have positioned e-Sourcing at a client that now intends to integrate to multiple backends.  With the SAP Consulting Note (OSS), we can interface e-Sourcing to a single backend.  Does anyone have any experience with integrating to multiple backends?  Some of our initial white board sessions to resolve this include:
    1.  Writing some code/scripts or mapping with PI/XI to mimic the SRM BADI "determine logical system" to route the contract back to the appropriate R3.
    2.  Using the Portal function "Composite Application Framework" to facilitate the selection of appropriate backend systems.
If anyone has experience or comments, please provide details or point me to some documentation to support this effort.  I assume someone has addressed this previously.  thank you.
    regards,
    gary

    Hi Gary
We are also looking at implementing the Multiple Backend scenarios for SAp E-Sourcing integration with SAP R/3
We understand that SAP will offer this as an interface from version 6.0 onwards, however this release as of now has been cancelled and are now looking at SAp E-Sourcing version 5.1 that will have the Multiple Backend integration
Just to add to your views, we can still looking at using the splitter functionality in SAP XI to help push the messages to the respective multiple backends, however we need to create fresh Interfaces that will be used to Push from SAP E-Sourcing to SAP R/3 XML messages routed through XI
We have to take these as development initiatives and address the multiple backend integration
However, if you are able to hold on till version 5.1 is released in Q2, 2008, you need not develop these interfaces, incase its the project requirement at the moment, then you can go ahead and develop these interfaces in XI
Incase you can share some information on the Single Backend integration, please feel free to send them to [email protected]
Let me know if you need more information on your subject, and the decision you finally take to address your issue

  • Feature Request - Better Multiple Monitor Support

Lightroom's support for a second display has definitely helped my  workflow. I hope the team will consider adding more flexible multiple  monitor support in version 4. Here's why.
I've recently  experimented with running one of my three screens in portrait mode. When  this screen hosts Lightroom's secondary display window in Loupe view,  my verticals finally get equal real estate for editing. While I've not  done hard statistics on my library, I know more than 50% of my imagery  is in portrait orientation.
I'd like to see LR V4 support three or more screens so I could set up as follow:
Screen 1 - main lightroom interface, would not need to be calibrated, for controls and navigation
Screen  2 - Portrait orientation, loupe view - this would be a calibrated  display, all develop changes to verticals would be judged on this screen
Screen  3 - Landscape orientation, loupe view - another calibrated display, all  develop changes to horizontals would be judged on this screen
If  Adobe could make the app intelligent enough to route the image to the  correct screen based on orientation (recognizing and respecting cropping  that could change orientation) my edit sessions would certainly speed  up and I could maximize the productivity of multiple screens.
I'd  be happy with this, but I'm also stymied by the need to switch back to  Library mode to tag images when my primary workflow has me in develop.  Ultimately everything depends on the quality of the image. Before I  invest in image-specific meta data, I have to process or at least  "test-process" an image. IMO the Quick Develop panel is useless, once  you become accustomed to the granular control of the develop sliders, it  just doesn't cut it.
In the three monitor setup I described  above I'd love to be able to configure screen 1, with a combination of  panels from Library and Develop, so I could stay "develop centric" with  immediate access to keywording and meta. The two additional screens  would intelligently handle image display.
I think this might  speed my workflow by 33% and having just returned from a Tour de France  project that generated 23,000 images I need all the productivity help I can  get.

Thanks for all those votes Rob. Now we just need to get the other 999,999 on board.
Actually, this topic has come up a lot on this forum. At this point, I think we just need to get Adobe on board.
    VeloDramatic wrote:
There may be another thread for this one additional thought. If Adobe does improve multiple monitor support, we should be able to optimize our previews for those screens. Even after prerendering 1:1 previews there are issues with DEVELOP doing its own thing (I believe) each time a new image is loaded. I make extensive use of the PREVIOUS button moving through my shoots and there's always a lag of one or two seconds while the develop preview loads before the button is active. In a desktop environment where multiple screens allow landscape and portrait images to be displayed full screen I'd argue that 100% of the host screen resolution would be the ideal preview. Hope that made sense.
Yes, faster switching would be nice. I'm not sure what that would take. As it stands, there's like "9" previews generated when you do 1:1s - 100% down to tiny thumbnails. Still, one at exact monitor size that does not need to be resized at all does seem like it would be the fastest - I'm a bit on a limb though at this point.

  • Find exact RFC Destination for Multiple backend Systems In SAP Gateway

    Hi Gateway developers,
I have requirement,if gateway hub system has multiple backend systems( for example two backend systems: ECC and SRM ) then  how  hub system can get the suitable backend alias for exact entity collection..
Here i have developed two entities one entity regards: ECC and second one regards SRM system..within this when I run the service it is always taking any of the same alias for both the collections..
    Can you please suggest me..
    Thanks
    Sreenivas Pachva

    Hi Srinivas,
You can add the respective system Alias Name: Like logical system name in your URI also.
    Example:
    /sap/Service Name;mo=ECCCLNT210/zentity1?Customer1='0001'
    /sap/Service Name;mo=SRMCLNT400/zentity2?Customer2='ABCD'

  • Unable to define connector for multiple backend systems in BRM

    Hi,
    I am on GRCFND_A V.11 and SP04
I have multiple backend systems integrated with GRC box. So far I was using one backend connector as default one for role maintenance but it is not feasible if you have to create roles in variuos backend connected systems. I know one way to do so, i can keep changing the default connectors whenever i need to create roles but that is obviously not at all the onw any one would like to go with.
So, I tried to create unique connector groups for every individul backend connectors. But the issue is, the moment i assign the backend connector to the respective connector groups, the same gets reflected to other connector groups as well. So, whenever i either add or delete some of the connectors to any connector groups it gets modified/changed from all of the connector groups.
These are the backend connectors where i have to create roles from BRM whenever needed.
    These are the connector groups:
I followed to the ink: GRC AC 10 BRM: Default Connectors with Multiple Back-end R/3 Systems , which is the same as mine issue, but not able to come to the solution point.
would appreciate for your quick response.
