Essbase cube empty vs Essbase data file not empty. It is possible?

Hi Guys,
This morning end-users has alerted that our planning cube has no data. I have verified that the export file was completely empty despite that Essbase data file (ess00001.pag) is about 3 MB. How does it is possible? I am trying to recover the proper situation using backups buit I don't know how to identify when database was cleaned (end users dind't acces to essbase since 2 weeks ago).
Thanks

Could the level 0 data have been zeroed out, and no agg run to propagate the zeros (or #Missing) to upper levels?
Did you at one time have some data in the database, then lock n send to overwrite?
If you had performed a database reset, that would leave no page file. If you simply overwrote data, then you could have some fragmentation (when data is overwritten, the data is written to a new space in the page file with the index pointing to new data. This leaves the prior data behind with no index pointer to it, but it's still in the page file.)
Was the export file of all data, or level zero data?
If it was level 0 export, perform an export all (3mb is not that much) to verify if there is any data. If not, I'd chalk it up to fragmentation.

The data file is empty. Please check the data file and try again.
I know there is data in this section of the database as I am running a report which looks at the same place and data can be found. From looking at other threads it has been recomended to turn off Data Audit. I've checked this and can confirm that this is switched off for this particular application (in other applications it is swithced on).
Please can someone advise what else I need to do in order to run this clear package successfully.
    Thanks,
    Jamie

    Thanks Roberto
Having just read that thread I see that they mention that they are not clearing from a calculated member. I think the member we have been trying to clear from is a calculated one.
Would a clear from fact table allow us to clear the data against this member? Or would we need to clear the data against the non-calculated members which go into the calculation?
    Kind Regards,
    Jamie
    UPDATE
I've managed to run the clear package, I was trying getting this error because I was running it against calculated members. When I chnaged it to run against the non-calculated members the package ran successfully and cleared the data values.
    Thanks for your help

  • Clear Data Manager Package Error "The data file is empty."

    Hi,
When I run the Clear data package in Data Manager, I receive the error "The data file is empty." I selected a very specific set of dimension values (none are calculated) and am on BPC 7.5 SP3. I subsequently turned on debugging to troubleshoot, but do not see any obvious issues leading the the error message. The log file with debugging turned on is below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

You can greatly improve your chance of receiving a helpful answer to your question if you state the version (MS or NW) and the release (5.1, 7.0, 7.5) of BPC which you are using.
Also notice the sticky [note|Please do not post BPC, SSM or FI/CO questions here!; at the top of this forum whereby we announced new dedicated forums for BPC which are the proper place to post your questions regarding BPC in the future to be able to reach the right audience for your question.

  • Clear Data package - "The data file is empty." Error

    Hi,
When I run the Clear package in Data Manager, I get the error "The data file is empty". We are running BPC 7.5 SP3. There are no calculated members selected. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
If i'm not mistaken when we run the clear data package, BPC inserts -ve values for the combination of dimensions selected.
For ex if you have selected time as 2010.DEC it would reverse out all these values by inserting negative values which would then total up to zero.
So i still think it could be a problem with the Transformation file.
P.S. Maybe you can try using the Clear from Fact table package.

  • Error data file is empty in standard Copy package

    Hi,
We have an appset that consists of four applications and we can't successfully run Data Manager Copy package in one of them. It launches the following tasks: Dump, Convert (execution fails in this step with error "Data file is empty") and Load. SSIS configuration in BIDS is defined by default and we haven't set any parameter.
We have figured out this error appears when we select any member of a dimension in "COPYMOVEINPUT" prompt except for Time dimension. Previously there was a custom Copy package based on standard BPC and it only filters by Time dimension. Perhaps this error is related to application configuration to run custom package.
    We show code:

            1. The data file is exists.
            2. The data file is not end with .dbf
I tried the same command in other system, the particular data file able to be verified.
            3. How do we justify whether the data files are being locked or not ?

  • Tp import fails with error "data files not transferred"

    Hi colleagues,
I am working on transport requests. I had issued out the <i>tp addtobuffer SIDKxxxx <sid>  pf=TP_DOMAIN_SID.PFL </i> command for a number of transport requests at OS level; but when i then try to do <i>tp import SIDKxxxxx <sid> client= u18 pf=TP_DOMAIN_sid.PFL</i>, i get this error: "Data files are not transfered</b>" in the QAS system. Everything works fine in PROD though. What could be the reason for this. I can't get it done within the application either.
    Your responses appreciated.

    Hi,
I guess you have individual transport directories. I f you have configured the Transport Domain and added the Other Two into the Domain and configured the Transport Route. You should be able to see the Some RFC Destinations in SM59.
    TMSADM@<SID>.<DOMAIN NAME>
    TMSSUP@<SID>.<DOMAIN NAME>
Please check the Test connection. of all these RFC Destination. If these fail check if you have firewall issues between the system stopping the communication on Port 33<Instance No>.

if you need export more 1000 recors from Essbase best way do this it's
-> export data with fix statement with using DataExport commnad
-> push text file to SQL with sqlloader commnad (from oracle cmd tool)
And other way - use Essbase Web Services

  • Cofiles and data files not generated

    hi
we  have upgraded from R/3 46c to ECC 6.0 on HP-UX Oracle 10 platform.
this is our quality system and the devlopment system still remains connected to the production seperately.
After upgrade the transport requets created do not have cofiles and datafiles generated in usr/sap/trans.
As a part of postprocessing I have selected the upgraded system and updated configuration in STMS/system.But the release is still shown as 620.
I need expert advice on this can anybody guide please

    Hi Gopalakrishnan,
after system upgrade, as part of postupgrade activity we have to refresh the STMS configuration. so, try deleting the setting in STMS from "000" client in the system, and re-configure the same by specifying the new transport domain.
and unlock  & referesh the transport queue. if you are still unable find the TR then try to copy them from Development system manually. [check whtr those TR are saved as Local Change request, if so, you can't find the data & co-files of the same].
    with regards,
    Rajesh.
<i> plz, award suitable points </i>

  • Empty Shared Variables & Data Binding not working in dynamically called VI

    Hi,
I have just upgraded a system from LabVIEW 2011 to 2012 DS2.  I have a real-time PXI system running several shared variables, hosted on the PXI.
After what appeared to be a succesful upgrade I have a couple of odd issues.
    1.  The PXI writes test data into a network shared variable, based on a typedef of an array of custom clusters.  The variable is disconnected from the typedef, as RT does not function with shared variables linked to typedefs.  It seems that writing a seingle entry to the array is fine, but writing multiple entries causes the variable to appear empty.
I still need to debug this a little more, as while I was station to do so this other issue popped up.
    2.  I have some controls on the Host app with data binding to shared variables.  The host app uses three VIs dynamically called into the wrapper VI.  One of these called VIs is not able to connect to its variable when inserted in to the wrapper, but it can if run independently.  The other two have no such trouble.  Where I see a problem, the indication LED is grey and the mouse-over text reads "no status".  What does this mean?
    Any clues?
    Thanks,
    Ian

I have changed the Invoke Node to a Run Asynchronous node, and this seems to have fixed the data binding issue.
The other issue may be related to a bug fixed in 2012 SP1:
368648 Network Stream operations return Error 42 when data type contains nested clusters of typedefs
I am now getting error 42 when reading a particular network shared variable.  This variable contains the results of measurements, in a data type which contains an array of nested clusters of typedefs.  When there is a single entry in the array I can read the variable fine, but when there is more than one entry in the array it does not read and I get error 42.
I have downloaded 2012 SP1, and will see if this helps.

  • Submitted Data File Not Showing Hidden Subforms

I've just started with Livecycle and can't seem to find an answre to my problem.
I've got 4 radio buttons that each unhide one of 4 drop downs in a subform.
When I submit the form by email (Button with type set as submit) the correct radio is displayed but it is not unhiding the subform.
It is set to be a dynamic form.
I've included the the form as it is so far. I would love feedback / suggestions on better ways to do things if anyone is willing to help.

In Form Properties off the File Menu go the Defaults tab and under Scripting select Automatically under "Preserve scripting changes to form when saved."

  • Panel Lights Indicate empty cartridges - but they are not empty!

I have an HP Officejet Pro K850 printer.  The Magenta and yellow cartridge lights illuminated and I installed new cartridges with 2012 expiration dates.  The lights will not go out and the printer will not print.  I replaced all cartridges with new HP catridges and the magenta and yellow lights remain illuminated no matter what I try.  I have unplugged, turned off, rebooted, re-installed.  Nothing works.  The printer will not print AT ALL while those lights are lit.  Is there anything I can do to get my printer to work?

    @Carolyn:
Yes, I did search before but restricted it to the past month, because I had the feeling that it’s worse now since the update to 5.1.10, but I may be wrong.
It seems this is an old and unsolved common problem.
    @andy:
“Top Sites” is hot, but I’ve never used that funny dots without any mouse-over text.
After deleting (before starting Safari)  it’s restored by a default TopSites.plist, it seems these cookies
    - are only reloaded when viewing the Top Sites (?)
    - are not among my reappearing cookies, I have never seen such a cookie / cache on my system before (e.g. expedia, orbitz, monster, usatoday, disney, craigslist).
And Top Sites would not explain why the Web Inspector has different infos regarding use of cookies and local storage than Safari’s “Privacy” tab.
After playing with deleting TopSites.plist, without surfing, suddenly I have ”121 cookies or other data” at Safari’s Privacy tab, nearly all are listed as “Cache” or “Cache, Cookies” but the Web Inspector doesn’t show any of them, only my google.co.uk items.
---> Thanks, I’ll send a feedback to Apple.

  • Link to local wmv file not working - is this possible?

I would like to launch a wmv file in the default application
(windows media player) from an AIR application. I tried just
linking to it but it doesnt do anything? Anyone know why? security
    reason maybe? thanks in advance..

    Hi,
Just linking to the file won't work. You'll have to call
navigateToURL with that file's path. This will load the file in the
    default browser.
There's no other way to launch applications from AIR
    1.0.
