Establishing a permanent global employee id
Greetings,
Let me preface this by saying that I am new to SAP, new to HCM, and new to the forums. Apologies if I do not have all the terminology down quite yet.
We are getting ready to kick off our HCM implementation with deployment of OA and PA. We will be relying on consultants for the technical work.
One benefit that we hope to derive is that we can create an employee ID number for each employee that stays with them for their career. This would essentially become a primary identification key that we share with other systems and partners. Thus, no matter where you go, you identify yourself by your WWID (World Wide ID #). This number should never change, just as your SSN never changes.
I have learned that the way SAP HCM works is that each time an employee moves to a different entity (company code, overseas assignment, etc.) his personnell number changes. That seems odd to me but it is what it is.
Given that the personell id could change, what would be the best approach to creating and maintaing the permanent id number?

Thanks for the replies. Msyelf and our HR department are still grappling with why an employees personel number should ever need to change? I guess it is what it is, be it a good reason or a design flaw.
It seems like one problem with the Central Person ID is that this is, for the most part, a hidden field almost everywhere in SAP? Can I easily look up an employee base on Central Person? Can I run reports on the Central Person? Given that an expatriate employee who returns home will now have 3 personell numbers, can I even run a report that shows his/her employment history over time?
This is one of those seemingly little things discovered early in implementation that have people going, "Dang, did we make a bad choice here". Hopefully, we work through it.

Hello all,
We are working with SAP R/3 4.6C and our organization has global employees. For example: an employee is on the payroll for country 'X' but is working in country 'Y'.
I know the solutions to these employees are in the 'Management of Global Employees' (MGE) but this functionality is only available as of SAP R/3 Enterprise - HR extension 1.1.
We are wondering what the solution is for MGE within 4.6C? What are the possibilities within SAP or perhaps other topics I can look for to solve this problem?

regarding your current release, the functionalities around infotype 0031 could be suitable for you.
The Reference Personnel Number (0031) infotype is used to assign several personnel numbers to one employee, if the employee has different employment relationships in your company. In this case, the personnel number associated with the employee is known as a reference personnel number. This infotype establishes links between all of an employees reference personnel numbers.

We are implementing global employment (GE) and I have the following questions:
1. If not using compensation package for GE, how do you remove it? Currently when executing the planning action, even though the infotype is not part of the action, a warning message displays that the compensation pacakges contains no mapped entries.
2. A process for a "permanent" global assignment. I don't see in the documentation any process for an employee that goes on a permanent global assignment. Anybody have any suggestions? Any SAP delivered action that would cover this? Employee would have to become withdrawn in the home country and remain active in the host country.
3. Can you complete a screen mod for IT 710? Don't see the module pool MP071000 in the img activity "Change Screen Modification".

MGE is a subset or submodule of CE.
CE concept is more align with and more import if you use SAP Payroll and Time. CE is concurrent employment where a person holds more than one position at a time in the same country.
MGE is management global employee. Where a person move from one position to another during a duration to do an assignment. Upon completing the assignment, the person could localize there or return home.
PNP and PNPCE. PNP is being discontinued and is replaced by PNPCE. The main difference between the two is PNPCE support the PERSON ID concept. Which is the unique identifier for an employee. It would be best to use PNPCE with MGE as you need that PERSON ID in the HR Report Category.

Iu2019ve worked on Concurrent Employment in 2006 and I remember we had a hard time changing all our HR ABAP program and LDB to PNPCE . Are we talking about the same effort here? If any body of you has any suggestion , key point please share with me .

Person who has more than one personnel assignment with one enterprise or several affiliated enterprises. A concurrently employed person is represented in the system by assigning several personnel assignments to a central person (object CP).
If concurrent Employment is active, reports are executed by the PNPCE logical database. The general logic of the PNPCE logical database corresponds to the PNP logical database. The PNPCE logical database can also process the concept of Concurrent Employment.
We need to activate certail switches in T77S0 table to activate concurrent employment.

Which LDB should be used for global employment PNP or PNPCE. Does anyone has examples of using PNPCE. i am fully aware of using PNP but not PNPCE keeping in ming global employees.
Concurrent employment is different from Global employment.
How do i handle PU12 interface for global employment ? We outsource payroll and export master data to the vendor.
Help will be approciated.

The Difference is only with in an SAP R/3 system in which Concurrent Employment is active, reports are executed by the PNPCE logical database. The general logic of the PNPCE logical database corresponds to the PNP logical database. The PNPCE logical database can also process the concept of Concurrent Employment.
HR Logical Databases
In Human Resources (HR), the following logical databases can be used as a data source for HR InfoSets:
PNP (PNPCE)
PAP
PCH
By selecting a logical database, you determine the HR data that can be reported on using an InfoSet.
Logical Database PCH
This logical database generally enables you to report on all HR infotypes. However, you are advised not to use this logical database unless you want to report on Personnel Planning data.
Logical Database PNP (or PNPCE)
Use logical database PNP to report on HR master data. It is possible to use logical database PCH to access this data, but PNP meets such reporting requirements more quickly because it is best suited to the task of selecting persons.
Logical database PNP enables you to access HR master data and infotypes from Personnel Planning. For example, you have the following options:
Reporting on the costs, number of attendees booked, and instructor for a business event on which an employee is booked
Reporting on working time and planned compensation for a position that an employee occupies
Reporting on the validity and proficiency of a qualification that an employee fulfils
From a technical perspective, this means you can use PNP to report on all of the infotypes that exist for objects (infotype 1000) that have a direct relationship (infotype 1001) with the Person object.
The ability to access infotypes from Personnel Planning using logical database PNP is a special feature that you can only use in the context of SAP Query and Ad Hoc Query. You cannot use this functionality for ABAP reports you programmed yourself.
You can also use logical database PNP to report on data from Personnel Time Management (infotypes 2000 to 2999) and Payroll (special payroll infotypes for the USA and customer infotypes; for more information, access Customizing for the Human Resources Information System and see Payroll Results).
Logical Database PAP
Logical database PAP enables you to access data from Recruitment.
The PNP and PNPCE are basically the same, with the exception of the concurrent employment / global employment concept.
If you activate the Management Global Employee functionality or the Concurrent Employment functionality, you have introduced a new ID concept called PERSON ID. This allow a person to have more than one PERNR (personnel number) and linked together through PERSON ID. Which is created, stored, and track via infotype 0709.
PNPCE has one extra field in there for PERSON ID and allow you to write code to query upon it.

You can maintain global employement by using infty 0709, i.e., PERSON ID.
You can store it manual;y, and for generation their is one FM "HR..."

Global Employee ID Concept - Concurrent Employment
Dear All,
My client wants to implement the Global Employee id concept.
If Employee goes from India to USA as a US Employee,So in USA SAP HR Employee should have same Employee id, and further he sould be inactive in India SAP HR Side.
Can anyone give me thought on this, how do I implement this.
What are the action need to run India side, and what need to run in US side.

You have to implement Management of Global Employee concept. In that you have to maintain the MGE infotypes like 0701 to 0715, that is details about the host country. The process includes:
1. Planning & Preparation of Assignment
2. Transfer
3. Assignment Period
4. Repatriation
During the assignment period, the home country status would be Withdrawn and host country would be Active, after the assignment period the home country will become Active and host assignment will become Completed.

HCM Process and Forms & Global employee management
Hi all,
I would to know if anyone of you experience in implementing HCM Process and forms for Global employee management(GEM).
I would like to know the difficulties or challeges .
How the forms will work.
Means if i have created a form using Personnel number without GEM.
Later if i Implement GEM.do i have to Change the form ?
Does P&F has any option choose the employee based on personnel id anywhere or we have to use personnel number and process as existing.
what could be stuctures for each infotype which are country specific .
Please share your experience on this.

1) The central person id of the existing (reference) pernr should be
read with the help of a generic service and this should be made
available for the SAP_PA service so that a new central person is not
created. This should be set in the field CENTRAL_PERSON in the
form scenario.
2) An explicit operation on IT0709 should not be defined in the
infotypes and operations of the design time tool. This is
automatically handled by the infotype framework through the data
sharing mechanism (table T582G). Kindly ensure that IT0709 is
enabled for data sharing and please remove it from the process.
3) The reference pernr data and the shared infotypes must be read with
the generic service only (refer to note 1366782), these should not
be read with the SAP_PA service as this may lead to a clash in the
record keys and can lead to undesired results. -

On running the above mentioned Actions, I struck up on last one "Assignment Activation - Home" as the error says the "Status of Assignment" (Infotype 715, subtype "Home" is not maintained). But i know the "Home" subtype of 0715 is automatically maintained by the system but not manually, once after running the Action "Assignment Activation - Host". But even after "Assignment Activation - Host" is been run and the "Status of Assignment Activation - host" (Subtype) is of "completed" / "In Progress". the system is not automatically updating the "infotype 0715, subtype - home" and even not allowing to update Manually.
So Could you help me out to solve this issue.

Management of Global Employees' feasibility in 4.6C SAP HRMS???
Dear Experts,
We have a 4.6c System and recently my client company had acquired 2 companies abroad.
Few employees of the company (home) will be leaving for Abroad to take up their positions in the Aborad company.
<b>Is Management of Global Employees module is practical with 4.6C???</b>
Is yes then how to go ab't it?
I checked few infoypes like 0710,0701 etc which is important for the same module, but it was absent in the system.
Please guide.

Global employees (MGE) error in ESS
Hi all,
I am in the process of activating management of global employees in ESS. The leave screens & leave balances work fine for employees with 2 PERNR i.e. i get the pop-up box in ESS.
The problem i have is with the address and bank screens. I get the following error in ESS: Global Employee scenario: Please refer to the IMG Employee Self-Service -> General Settings -> Concurrent/Global Employee
I have activated the address and bank services in IMG node "Assign CE/GE Group Definition Settings to ESS Applications" but its not working like Leave request did.Actual message in ESS:

I'm wondering if anyone has got address screen working for Global employees? -
Org Assignment of global employees in Compensation Management
I have a problem with Compensation Management but it also relates the Org Assignment of global employees
In Comp when I try to submit an employee using transaction HRCMP001, I have an error saying no org assignment exist on 01. 01 .2008.
The business scenario is as follows. EE is hired on 01012008 in UK for e.g. he gets terminated on 31.05.2008 and then gets re-hired in another country using the Global Employee Personnel actions on 01.06.2008. In this county, he becomes eligible to receive the increase but when I try to submit, the error comes up that no org assignment exist for 01.01.2008. I have changed the settings in T582A to u2018copy infotypeu2019, it tries to reference the previous org assign infotype from 01.01.2008(which is correct but the system rejects it and will only accept the new date of the new hire 01.06.2008) thereby not referencing the old org assignment in the new personnel number.? I tried the propose infotype option but it did not do anything. Does any one have any suggestions? It works and changes the status of MGE to activate... but this still does not release the infotypes (700 series for GE ie 702, 703, 706, 715 etc with others). This is the situation after activating switches CCURE MAINS and CCURE GLEMP.
The message displayed is:
"You attempted to access infotype &1. According to the system settings, however, it is not permitted to use this infotype."
Any clues on this restriction.
