Ethernet connection won't start

Hi, Today I have installed arch for the first time. Everything seems to be ok, only networking always fail to start.
I have followed beginners manual.
ip link shows enp4s0
ip link set enp4s0 up
I have set ipaddr and route to enp4s0 and named servers to resolv.conf.
Now I have done:
cp examples/ethernet-static my-network
nano my-network
- edited interface from eth0 to enp4s0 and corrected ipaddress, gateway and dns.
netctl enable my-network
netctl status my-network shows:
-Starting network profile
-netctl@my\x2dnetwork,service: main proces exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILTURE
-Failed to start A basic static ethernet connection
-Unit netctl@my\x2dnetwork.service entered failed state.
-Dependency failed for A basic static ethernet connection
Do you know where is problem? Thanks for replies.

Thank you for replies. I have read a lot of smillar topics here, but it doesn't help.

  • Smart Connect won't start Music on the Go

Hi guys,I'm trying to use SmartConnect to do the following:- Conditions: Connect or disconnect accessoryAccessory: car bluetooth- Start Actions: StartVolume 80%Start Shortcut: PlaylistClearAudio+ : On- End Actions:Play Tracks: PauseVolume 100% But it just won't work. I've tried creating a custom profile, instead of using the predefined one(MOTG), but it's the same. I got a PIN on my phone, but I tried with unlocked phone as well, it won't work. When I start the bluethooth it pairs automatically, but then SmartConnect won't start the music. Any idea with this? I've made some other profiles on SmartConnect and everything seems to be working fine, except this.

I would try the stanard fixes:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Dual G4 Won't start up with ethernet internet connection plugged in

    Hi,
My Dual 533mhz won't start up when the ethernet cord is pluged in. This recently started happening out of the blue (at least, I can't recall doing anything that might cause this). When I leave the ethernet cord in, the computer starts up with a network disk icon flashing and never goes away. When I don't have the ethernet cord plugged in, the computer still blinks with the network disk, but eventually changes to an OS 9 question mark folder, where it blinks some more and finally boots up normally.
The ethernet cord is one from a router.

Open the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences, select your hard disk as the startup disk, and quit System Preferences.

  • ITunes won't start up when connecting iPhone

My wife has been having this trouble for awhile, and now I started having the same trouble too. She has an iMac G5 running latest versions of Leopard and iTunes. I have a Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet model) running the latest version of Tiger and iTunes I also have a USB 2.0 PCI card which has already been tested and is operating properly. Both of our iPhones are the original model running iPhone 2.0, but this problem was happening on her setup before the 2.0/MobileMe fiasco.
Basically, iTunes won't start on her machine when she sets her iPhone into the iPhone Dock, even though it does show that it is charging. When she clicks iTunes, it syncs new data from her iMac to her iphone, but new data on her iPhone doesn't transfer to her iMac (remember, this is BEFORE the MobileMe/2.0 update). I've tried different sync cables, plugging it in to different USB ports, and always it's the same- it may work properly when I unplug the cable and plug it back in again, but after I remove the iPhone from its dock and set it back in, it malfunctions the same as I just described. It initiates a sync if iTunes is running, but not if iTunes is shut down. The crazy thing is, her syncing was working perfectly both ways until about two months before the MobileMe/2.0 switch, so I know it has nothing to do with that.
Today, my Power Mac and iPhone started displaying the same symptoms, but with a twist- I put my iPhone into its cradle, and nothing- no charging screen and tone, no syncing startup, nothing. I turn iTunes off, pull the iPhone out of the cradle, and set it back in again- nothing. iTunes won't even start up; and when I start it up myself, it still doesn't recognize the iPhone is there. I plug the iPhone into a wall charger using the same cable I sync with, and it starts charging with no problems. I plug my iPhone cradle back into my external USB hub, connected to one of the USB 1.1 ports, and the syncing/charging works flawlessly. The weird thing is, my 4th Generation iPod Photo is on a different dock with a different cable, plugged into the same USB 2.0 card, and iTunes starts and syncs with no problems with that iPod every time.
I've taken my wife's iMac, her iPhone, and her iPhone dock and cable in to the Apple Store's Genius Bar, but they weren't able to figure out the problem. They tried to redirect the syncing issues by trying to demonstrate iPhone 2.0's wireless push/pull capabilities, but they couldn't get that to work properly, even though all the settings on the imac and the iPhone were correct. All they could suggest was that I must have had a "bad upgrade" when I upgraded to Leopard (6 months ago?!?), and that I should try an "Archive and Install" of Leopard again to see if that sorts out the issue- something I do not really have the time to do (and my wife can't really be without her Mac for that long since she uses it for work).
I see a lot of similar issues on Apple's iPhone support pages with iTunes not recognizing iPhones when they're plugged in, or not charging when plugged in, etc. I've spent a lot of money on our Macs and our iPhones based on the idea (from Apple's own marketing) that Apple's products "just work". And darn it, with all the money I've invested into these products I just want them to WORK- EVERY TIME, without fail! These are the kind of problems I left behind in the Windows world, and I don't want their ugly heads to surface here too.

Install or Reinstall Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • 24" iMac won't start when iPod is connected

My 24" iMac won't start up/restart if my iPod is already connected to it. If I restart with the iPod connected, I just get a gray screen (with no apple logo) forever. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, any solution? I have Windows installed with boot camp, don't know if that's the problem, but I tried reseting the p-ram, but to no avail...
    Intel iMac 24", 7600 GT, 500GB, 2GB. Titanium Powerbook 667 MHz G4, loaded.   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   30 GB iPod Video

My suggestion would be disconnect the iPod. That's just me though.

I'm guessing Boot Camp is the culprit. Whatever emulated BIOS it's using doesn't like the iPod as a startup disk.

  • Ipod touch won't start, just shows screen saying to connect to itunes.

Ipod touch won't start or charge, or do anything other than when I plug it in, the screen shows a picture of the usb cord connecting to itunes. When I tried to connect to itunes using my computer, nothing happened. Any suggestions?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IMac won't start with Thunderbolt Display connected after firmware update

After updating my thunderbolt display firmware to version 1.2 this morning via the App Store, my mid-2014 iMac won't start up with the external display connected.  I can get the iMac to start up only by disconnecting the display's thunderbolt connector. After the iMac comes up, I can reconnect the display and everything appears to function normally.  I've tried several restarts and the iMac won't start up with the display connected.  Anyone else experience this?

  • Labwiew 8 won't start without internet connection

I have Labview 8.0 installed on a NI PXI-1050 chasis with Windows XP and Service Pack 2 installed.  The problem is that Labview will not load up (it locks up at finishing initialization) if I do not have the chasis connected to the internet via ethernet connection.  When I connect to the internet and reboot the computer, Labview is able to start fine.  The chasis is installed in a mobile vechicle and cannot always be connected to the internet.  I've read that Labview 8 needs to connect to the internet to make sure the copy it is running is legitimate?  Is this copy protection messing me up?  Is there a way to run Labview 8 without internet connection?
    Thanks.

    biqbal wrote:

Where did you read this? There's an initial activation that you do when you first install LabVIEW. but there's no "phone home" each time you launch LabVIEW. I can start up LabVIEW without an internet connection.
More than likely what's causing it are services that run and/or MAX. Software firewalls installed on a computer can block this communication even it's happening on a loopback, but you said that the problem goes away once you connect to the internet, so it's likely not a firewall issue. Is the PXI chassis normally connected directly to the internet through a modem, or is it connected to a router (when it's connected)? Are you using a static IP address on your PXI chassis?

  • I phone crashed and won't start up, even after connecting it to my mac, and tried the 10 sec. holding the power and home button

my iPhone 4 crashed and the screen froze, so i pushed the power key to turn it off. But it won't start up again. I tried the 10 sec. holding with the power and home button, and connected it to my laptop, but it still won't start up. what should i do?

Is there anything at all on the screen? Try this procedure:
Plug your device into the original charger & block in a wall outlet and leave it alone for a couple of hours. Then, while it is still plugged in, restart it by holding down the home button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple, then let go.

    hello everyone,
when booting i get this error. i now dont need the ethernet connection, but i still would like to understand and get rid of that error, which occurs since that day, where i tried to setup the ethernet. the error is as follows (didnt find some log, so i just wrote it by myself, not sure if the wording is completely identical):
Failed to start a basic dhcp ethernet connection. See 'systemctl status [email protected]' for details.
    any ideas?
    thanks

    the error message is:

  • Mac Not Starting Up When Ethernet Connection Removed

    Hi
I took my mac away from home and as of yet don't have any type of internet connection. I was hoping to still use it for itunes, photos, etc. until my cabel internet is up and running.
However, I powered it up without the Ethernet connection and it didn't seem to boot up. I just got the gray screen with one of those cirlces with a line through it (think Ghostbusters) and it didn't seem to boot up.
I am going to try it again tonight but was wondering if anyone had similar experiences. ??
    Thanks!

Your Mac appears to have forgotten the location of its boot volume. Restart the Mac while pressing and holding the "Option" key. This should then give you the option of selecting the boot volume.
After the Mac has started and has opened your account, go to System Preferences > Startup disk from the Apple menu and select your boot volume to reset it as the Startup disk.
