Ethernet/IP comunication with CompactLogix using Assembly Instances

I am somewhat new to LabVIEW and am working on a project where I am trying to communicate with a CompactLogix PLC using Assembly Instances. I am running LabVIEW on a PC. The PC and PLC are connected through a company network. I have tried an example program and haven't had any luck getting it to work.
I have created a very simple program for troubleshooting (see attached). I have also attached my virtual ETHERNET-MODULE setup from RSLogix5000 program.
Does the ETHERNET-MODULE IP address need to be a unique address, or is it the address of the LabVIEW PC? I don't have any logix in RSLogix5000 to send or recieve messages. It doesn't appear I need these.
I don't have a preference for how I communicate with the CompactLogix. This method just looked easy.

You only need to make the parameters match on two sides - Create Assembly Instance.vi from the examples (<National Instruments>\LabVIEW 20XX\examples\ethernetip\) and the PLC side.
Your VI has 1) mismatching assembly size - 32 bytes on VI side vs 64 *32-bit on PLC side , 2) non-updatable assembly because nothing is set in the loop, and 3) missing the producing assembly.
Implicit Messaging is for periodical update of assembly data. Explicit Messaging is for occasional, thus more service oriented.

Problem using DG4ODBC with named SQL Server instance

I am running DG4ODBC on a 64 bit LINUX machine with the Microsoft SQL Server driver installed. I have successfully tested this with a SQL Server instance that was not named (GENERALI_DSN).The named instance gives the following when trying to query:

I can't figure out why the named instance does not work but the other one does. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you check with the ODBC test utility isql (it is installed by default when you install the unixODBC Driver manager) if your ODBC driver can connect at all to that named instance? I have some doubts that it will work either as there was a blog commented by a MS engineer:

who states that named instance connections are not supported using that driver.

Internet slow with G5 using Airport Extreme ethernet

I have the reverse of everyone else's Airport issues-I run SLOWER on ethernet! I bought & installed Airport Extreme two days ago. It's running into a DSL modem which is set up as a bridge. Our wireless computers (iMac/Intel and Dell netbook) have no problems. My newest Mac (2.26 GHz Quad Core, OS 10.6, ethernet connected), is fine, but my G5 (pre-Intel Dual 2GHz PowerPC, OS 10.4.11), also connected via ethernet, is taking 40-50 seconds to load a page. The G5 doesn't even have wireless capability, so I never loaded those software updates. Because of this I thought the G5 might be having a problem communicating with Airport, even through ethernet, so last night I updated to the latest Airport Utility package for 10.4.11 (21-20-49.pkg) This didn't seem to help.
I usually use Firefox, but tried Safari and Explorer-same problem. If I reset the DSL modem to standalone mode and connect the computer directly, the G5 downloads at its normal fast speed.
One last thing, and it's really kind of weird. I went to Network Utility and 10-pinged a couple of sites (google & bbc.uk). The average speed on the G5 for google was 23.945. The average speed on the QuadCore was 24.479! Slower!! I may be misunderstanding what this means. A page that takes 60 seconds to load on the G5 will load in 4 seconds on the Quad.
Is it Tiger? Is it because my G5 is pre-Intel? Is it because Airport doesn't like me? Please help!

Changing ports didn't work. But then I thought of running from the G5 to a different ethernet line altogether (got one for clients on the other side of the room) and the downloads were spot on. I went back to the original config-wall jack to a Belkin UPS for isolation, out of the Belkin to the computer. Swapped all the ethernet patch cords with no difference, but taking the Belkin out of the equation solved the problem. Got to find another way to isolate though.
Last thought: I don't know why the Airport and Belkin have this issue.

The closest you can come, without having a 3G iPad is to have a cellular mobile hotspot like the Mifi or such device, use that to get to wifi, or to tether it to a cell phone.

USB comunication with a device using LabWindows CVI 7.1 or more late.

Hello Partners.
I am try to get information about USB comunication with a device using CVI 7.1 or more late, I will need to developed a aplication for comunicate with a device but I have not idea of How do this. I know how comunicate with the serial port in CVI, but I never have developed any application using the USB port.
Do you know which are the requirements for do this??
I have read some information and I am seeing that I needed the driver of device for do this but I do not know what is the command line that will need to send in the aplication for comunicate with my device.
Somebory knows how can I do this in my application??
Somebory has some exemplo code in where I can see the commands that I needed to send to the USB port?

think there are three possibilities:
1. the product comes with an own driver & api
2. the product comes with an FTDI-device to communicate over
2.1 you can talk with the device over a virtual COM (rs232)
2.2. you can talk with the device over the D2XX-layer (look at the FTDI-webside: "D2XX Programmers guide....")

My imac and ipad2 will not connect to the internet with Windstream using an 2wire DSL modem.

Help my brand new imac and ipad2 will not connect to the internet with Windstream using an "2WIRE" DSL modem. Windstream tech service is useless. i can connect with the built in router through Ethernet or wireless, but still no connecting to internet, help! windstream said everything is working on their end, yea right. What i do know is that both the mac and ipad work at other places and can connect with wireless connected to the internet, so i know it's not the apple products.
these are brand new machines with lion.
This is my first mac, so I’m still new to how it works, which is not helping either so a detailed help would be great. Please help before my wife losses it

There is a 2701HG-B, and a 2701HG-D. If not labelled on the modem, ask Windstream which one they presently supply or how to tell the difference.
By the way tell your wife it isn't that bad. At least you have an ethernet DSL modem. There were times where DSL modems had RJ-11, USB, and Ethernet, and all three were used to provide access. At least now only the craziest DSL providers still use those modems.

How to use an instance instead of the class itself

I am building a program but have a problem.
My program uses a controller class which instantiates a World-class. In the world class has a Vector I make a Vector in which I place all the elements in the world. (I also made an Element class from which all the objects that I put into this Vector extend.)
Everything except for some methods in the controller class are declared public. I might need to use static, but I do not know how.

However, and this is my problem, in the constructor of Avatar (see below) i need the beamer in world, but my compiler cant find world. I probably need to import my World or controller class, but even then: I do not understand how to use an instance (world is an instance. I cant use the World-class as the class does not contain the beamer element)

I think you are best off if you use static methods and static fields only in your World class. That way you don't have to instantiate it and everyone has access to its methods. This would be then completely analogous to how you access methods and fields of the well-known class System (e.g. when you use System.out.println). This also has the advantage that you are guaranteed to have only one copy of the World.
Here is an example of how your World class, Avatar class and main code would look like.
Main code: (note the use of capital W in the name World, referring to class rather than instance).
// no need to instantiate World, as we call its static methods only
World.newElement (new Beamer ("beamer", 20. , 20.));
World.newElement (new Avatar ("avt", "beamer")); // add an avatar which is "beamed up". World class: (note the static keyword in front of the vector and the methods)
public class World {
private static Vector v;       // static field, only one copy of it ever exists
public static void newElement(Element e)   // static method, can call without instantiating world
     v.addElement(e);
public static Element named(String n) // use to look up elements
     ... some code which goes through v and finds element named "n" ...
     ... return reference to that element ...
}and finally the Avatar: (again note the use of reference to World as a class rather than instance)

} The above example is how I would implement it when you don't actually need instances of the World class.

Using an instance in a failover cluster as a witness server

Firstly I absolutely hate the idea of doing this with a passion . . . and then some, in my mind a witness server should have as few if not zero dependencies on any other SQL Server HA technology as possible, it should be a stand alone SQL Server instance.
However, technically would you be able to use an instance which is already in a failover cluster as a witness for a mirrored pair of databases ?.

According to your description, you want to connect multiple database from multiple servers using dynamic connection.
If in this case, we can create a Table in our local database (whatever DB we want) and load all the connection strings. We can use Execute SQL Task to query all the connection strings and store the result-set in a variable of object type in SSIS package.
Then use ForEach Loop container to shred the content of the object variable and iterate through each of the connection strings. And then Place an Execute SQL task inside ForEach Loop container with the SQL statements we have to run in all the DB instances.

Backup of Essbase using 2nd Instance

Hi,
Can i use 2nd instance of essbase (after installing essbase on another port on same server or another server) to copy application from sourcr to target and use it as a backup.
What are the compromise i am making over general backup process.
Any advantage with this or all disadvantage.

Organize the backup server as a copy of the source server with all the applications, databases and the remaining directories required for the operations on the server.
Sync the entire file system of app directory b/w source and backup server using any backup techniques full/incremental
sync the essbase.sec and essbase.bak files b/w both the servers.
This file system sync should be done after both the services are stopped.
Once both the servers are sync.
Start both the servers and cross check the applications and data.
If ant thing happened to the production server,just you need to make the services up and you can use the back up server for the business.
You have to do the necessary configurations like interface with upstream and down stream system.
Once the production issues are fixed, you can fall back to production.
Note: It is good if you do quarterly health checkup of the backup server even though no issues in the production.Then we will not face any unexpected issues in bringing up the back up server.

Hello,
We have a livecycle form that allows people to save an image with an image field and other data in some text fields.
The users having problems are using Acrobat Pro XI. They seem to be able to open the form, fill in some data and save the data just fine except for this image.
The image does not display when the user re-opens the form. However, if another user opens that saved form then that user can see the image OK.
Any ideas what might be happening?

I am trying to Introspect my Oracle weblogic server Locally to configure appliances on my assembly in Virtual Assembly Builder using command

but it is getting failed with error:

Error: OAB-7105: Introspection failed.
Caused by: Dehydrate job failed.
Caused by: OAB-50008: Use introspectWLS12 command to introspect domains based on WLS 12.1.2 and younger.
later I replaced introspectWLS with introspectWLS12 but its throwing Usage error: Command not found: introspectWLS12.
Can somebody help me in finding the exact command for version 12.1.2 to by-pass this..
FYI: I am using fmw_Infra_121200_OVAB.jar binnary bundled with JRF & FM Components on my OEL-6.0 platform
