Ethernet performance going down after upgrading to S11U1

I upgraded from S11-SRU11 to S11U1-SRU1. Until approx. 5 min after reboot, the ethernet performance is as I am used to it before the upgrade, at about 113 Mbps on a e1000g (which is pretty close to the physical maximum). Then suddenly the throughput goes down significantly, and I measure everything between 8 Mbps and 69 Mbps. Rebooting does not help.
After going back to S11-SRU11 via snapshot, the old performance of 113 Mbps is back, and consistenly.
All throughput is measured with nttcp-1.147 on Solaris and PCATTCP-0114 on Windows 7.
Has anyone seen that behaviour, too?

Do you see any TCP retransmissions in the output from "netstat -s -P tcp"
when this issue happens?
Also, please post the output from 'dlstat -r <e1000g-if>'.

Hello,I upgraded my laptop from win 8.1 to win 10.Now when I close the lid or press the power button, the computer turns the screen off, turns the WIFI off, no more hard disk activity but it is not going to sleep. Also when I shut it down it goes throught the same procedure but never turns off.To start again, I have to keep pressing the power button to turn it off, then turn it on again.I did the powercfg - energy and got this in the report, "USB Suspend:USB Device not Entering Selective Suspend"When the computer had just started, I don't get that message, it also goes to sleep and shuts down normally, while later, I get this message in the report and no longer sleeps or shuts down.Any suggestion ??Thanks

    Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15 Notebook and issues with sleep or shut down after upgrade to Windows 10. Try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix the problem. Here is a document that shows how to update drivers that are not working correctly with Windows 10. HP has been working closely with Microsoft on the development of Windows 10. I hope this helps. Thanks.

SSO and Portal is down after upgrade from AS 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.3. All others are running fine. Any similiar experience and solution?
    Thanks.

cn=XXX information is missing for the SSO Server (orasso) when going to http://servername:7777/pls/orasso/orasso.home. Is that causing the problem? If so, how can I resolve it?

  • I have NAS200 working fine. Of late I found that its performance going down

I have NAS200 working fine. Of late I found that its performance going down. May lot of stuff delated and coppied on these network drives. Looking for some tool to carry out disk defragmentation and scan disc on network drives. How can I do that without taking out HDD from NAS200

Defragmentation of a network drive is impossible. Over the network, your computer only has access on a file-by-file basis, not on a sector-by-sector basis.
If it would be possible to access the disk over the network on a sector-by-sector basis, it wouldn't help anyway because your computer would have to understand the XFS or ext2 filesystem to be able to defragment it, and Windows doesn't understand either.
Furthermore, because of the way XFS and ext2 work, fragmentation is much less of an issue than with e.g. FAT32.
If your NAS200 is getting slower over time, it may be possible that your hard disk is slowly but surely dying, and that what you're seeing is that it's correcting low-level errors by retrying reads and writes. It's probably a good idea to check that you have a reliable backup. You do have one, don't you?
    ===Jac
    Frequent NAS200 Answers:
    1. DISABLE the "convert failed logins to guest logins" option to fix permission problems.
    2. NEVER insert or remove hard disks while the power is on. NAS200 doesn't support hot swapping.
    3. ALWAYS use the power button to turn the NAS200 off, don't just unplug it.
    4. Don't trust RAID. Make BACKUPS!
    5. To ACCESS the disks directly, you will need ext2 and/or XFS file systems. I recommend using SystemRescueCD.
    6. Disks will get HOT with standard fan, use "green" disks or consider replacing the fan.
    7. FTP server is insecure and doesn't work behind a NAT router. Use my firmware and SCP instead.
    8. MY FIRMWARE supports SSH shell prompt and SCP for secure file access, and allows running other software.

  • EXT HD shutting down after upgrade.  Lost all info on a WD and G drive is starting to shut down.  How do I fix?  Fear my back up are going to fail.

After upgrading I have lost one WD drive completely.  My WD drive with time machine has started to shut off suddenly.  I have removed it and going to see if it is fried.  My G drive just shut down with the same error.  This has all my light room photos & have backed up all info on this drive to a new G RAID. as well as a 1T ext WD.  I fear I will lose my backup of my backups.  How do I fix this before I loose everything?

Not a solution, but something to try.
In the Energy Saver preference window, do you have the "Put the hard disk....possible." checked or unchecked?
Try it the opposite of what you have selected now.
Also, do you have the same problem if the energy saver is moved to Never?

  • Weird network problem: Ethernet link going down for few seconds, and up again

    Hi,
this problem is driving me nuts for weeks now, and I've not had any success with solving it myself, so I hope someone might have a clue...
A few weeks ago, maybe 2 months, when downloading VOD content from iTunes, the download suddeny stopped after a while, saying that there is a problem with my network connection. I can then resume the download until the next connection drop occurs. iTunes was and still is the only app that makes the problem noticeable (FTP, browsing, Mac App Store etc. are working fine), however, as this also affects iDevice firmware downloads and basically everything I download via iTunes, the problem started to really annoy me. I'm not sure, but the problem might have been introduced after upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion/10.8, which I needed for Logic X.
    So here is what happens:
I have an iMac12,2, Mid 2011, 27inch, i5 2.7GHz, 16GB RAM, 256GB Apple SSD + 1TB HDD. When using ethernet, the iMac randomly loses its link to the network. My router is a FRITZ!Box 7390 (german make). There are no switches between my iMac and the router. When that happens while running ping, this is how it looks like:
    64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=3558 ttl=64 time=0.542 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=3559 ttl=64 time=0.424 ms
ping: sendto: No route to host
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3560
ping: sendto: No route to host
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3561
ping: sendto: No route to host
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3562
ping: sendto: No route to host
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3563
ping: sendto: No route to host
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3564
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3565
    64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=3566 ttl=64 time=0.508 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=3567 ttl=64 time=0.493 ms
And this is what the logfile contains at the same time:
    28.10.13 21:36:35,000 kernel[0]: AppleBCM5701Ethernet [en4]: Link down (womp disabled, proxy idle)
    28.10.13 21:36:37,099 configd[18]: network changed: v4(en4-:192.168.1.188) DNS- Proxy-
    28.10.13 21:36:37,106 configd[18]: network changed: Proxy
28.10.13 21:36:37,112 netbiosd[12000]: network_reachability_changed : network is not reachable, netbiosd is shutting down
    28.10.13 21:36:40,000 kernel[0]: Ethernet [AppleBCM5701Ethernet]: Link up on en4, 1-Gigabit, Full-duplex, Symmetric flow-control, Debug [796d,0323,0de1,0300,cde1,3800]
    28.10.13 21:36:40,237 configd[18]: network changed: Proxy
    28.10.13 21:36:42,544 configd[18]: network changed: v4(en4+:192.168.1.188) DNS+ Proxy+ SMB
So the ethernet interface loses the link for a few seconds, and gets back up again. It's not long enough to affect average TCP connections, however it is long enough to completely screw iTunes.
    What I've tried:
    - changed all cables (save the one that's going from the ethernet outlet on my room's wall to the server/router room, as it's not replaceable (running within a wall) and I really don't know why it should become faulty offhandedly)
    - cycled ethernet ports at the router to make sure they're not faulty
    - ping'd the router from different computers on all its ethernet ports, all working fine
    - connected my iMac to router via wifi, all working fine
    - bought a Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter to make sure onboard ethernet card isn't faulty: problem still there
    - installed 10.9 over 10.8.5, problem still there
What I didn't check is what happens when ping'ing the router via my cables, but from another computer, as I don't have one. I will try to borrow a MacBook and check that.
So I figured it must be a local problem, as the network infrastructure itself works nicely and all cables seem to be sound. It is also not a hardware issue, as the problem occurs both with the onboard NIC and the Thunderbolt NIC. What mystifies me is that it doesn't happen when using Wi-Fi (but switching to that is not an option - it's too slow).
I tried to use both DHCP and fixed IP addresses, different IP ranges, made sure that static IPs don't collide with the router's DHCP range, updated the router firmware, updated the firmware of all Airport Express and Time Capsules I've got in my network (just to be sure), switched all energy saving settings to "Never" (as it has been suggested here from time to time), but nothing helped ... and I don't know what else to check.
I hope that someone has an idea of what's happening here!
    Thanks in advance!

It looks like hooking an ethernet switch between my iMac and the router did the trick. I didn't get any timeouts after I did that. It must have been a really weird incompatibility between my iMac and the router. Still have to see if iTunes gets through without losing the connection, I hope I'll be able to check that tomorrow night. I'll report back.
So maybe try just hooking another ethernet switch between your mac and the other side. It might actually help!

  • LR 2.5 slows down after upgrading to Snow Leopard

This is my first post, so first of all I'd like to say hello to everybody here and apologize for my poor english
My computer is an iMAC with an Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD and a graphic card NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512 MB VRAM.
The LR database is contains, up to now, about 5000 photos most of them in NEF format (my camera is a Nikon D300)
In the last month I noticed that the performance slowed down consistently as thumbnails refresh started taking a long time as well as editing photos and the overall LR2 (executing at 64bits) working.
I started monitoring the system, but despite the low LR2 performances I still had a lot of free RAM and the cores weren't really working a lot.
I can't say this for sure, but I could bet that the performance problems began with the upgrade to Snow Leopard.
Can anybody help me to solve this issue?
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Roberto

Lightroom performance should not have deteriorated as a result of upgrading to Snow Leopard. Things that you should check are:
    1. that you are indeed running Lightroom in 64-bit mode (open System info under Help menu and check that Application Architecture shows x64)
    2. that you have all of your previews rendered to at least Standard-size
    3. that you have at least 20% free hard disk space
You should also run the Catalog Optimisation option in Catalog Settings
    1. Yes, LR2 was running in 64 bit mode before upgrading to Snow Leopard, then (don't know why) gets back to 32 just after the upgrade and I manually set it to 64 bit (checked in the application and on the process monitoring while running)
    2. I have the preview rendered 1:1 in the folder I'm working on (done again tonight)
    3. I have 55% free HD space
    4. I run a Catalog Optimization many times, The last one was tonight
In other words I've checked and tried all these things many times. I've red on the internet that it might be a geforce 8800 issue, but I've found only windows references. Don't forget that neither RAM nor CPU are stressed when LR2 is working and all other applications run normally

  • IBook shuts down after upgrading from 10.3.3 to 10.3.9

Hi...I tried upgrading an old iBook G3 700 MHz from OS X 10.3.3 to 10.3.9 (combo). Now it won't finish
starting up. I press power, I do hear the chime and get to the point where the first screen with
the simple apple logo shows, but then after 5 seconds it shuts down again. I do hear the disk
    going briefly during this time.
I booted with the hardware diagnostics CD that came with the machine, and all tests passed OK
    - both the quick tests and the extended tests.
Wanted to just try reinstalling from the Panther CD set that I have, but I've found that I can't
boot from those CDs - does the same thing, shows the apple logo, then shuts down after 5 seconds.
I tried restarting in single user mode, it doesn't seem to get very far - I get the black screen, it
prints about 5 lines of information, then one line saying "Using 983 buffer headers..." and then
it shuts down. Seems like it's not getting far at all into the boot process.
Any thought's on what to try next? Wish I could just reinstall, wiping the slate clean, but even
    that doesn't work!
Thanks in advance for any help...
    - Bruce

    Success! This is so bizarre...
I have two Mac laptops, the iBook 700 MHz that's having the problem, and a newer
PowerBook G4. A few days ago I wanted to recharge the iBook...I've been very diligent
up to this point to use the correct charger with each laptop, the one that each came
    with.
I got lazy this last time...plugged the charger for the newer PowerBook into the
older iBook. Then I did the upgrade, and then I shut down the machine. It was after
that that I had problems restarting.
I got suspicious just now and looked at each charger. Thought they would be
interchangeable, but on looking at them the charger for the older iBook says output
is 24v 1.875A, while the one for the PowerBook is 24v 2.65A.
Knowing that there's a PMU (Power Management Unit) in these machines and that it
has settable parameters, I thought, what the heck, plug the correct charger back into
the iBook, just to see what happens. Voila, it started up OK!!!
    What the heck ?!?!
I'm pretty well versed in computers (work with Unix and Linux regularly, love the
Mac OS X command line!), just don't understand everything that goes on under the
hood with the Macs these days.
Just to get some final closure on this problem, can anyone explain why doing what
I did resolved the issue? I'd really like to learn from my mistakes.
Thanks to Rhonda and S.U. who responded so quickly for my plea for help!

  • Ethernet LAN not working after upgrading to windows 8.1

After upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, my Ethernet LAN is no longer working. Wireless LAN connectivity is OK. I have run the HP Support Assistant and downloaded the drivers for 8.1. Hovever, I do not see a 8.1 driver listed for the Ethernet LAN.

You're very welcome. See if the recovery manager still works so you can roll back to W8. Please read this guide for how to use it. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03489643 If it doesn't then you will have to order a set of recovery disks from HP, or you can install this plain W8 OEM software this guy has posted on a link. Lots of folks have used it successfully, which is why I posted it. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?pli=1 Then use this tool to make the iso file bootable to a DVD or 4+ GB USB flash drive. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool Yes, that really stinks why you and I could not upgrade without an issue. I disabled about 5 or 6 devices in the device manager and the code 12 would not go away. I have no clue why the PC works fine on W8 but not on W8.1. My notebook is a few years older than yours and it worked fine on W8.1 but not on W10. Go figure...

  • Domain Controller going down after IDM implemented

    Hi,
We have implemented IDM 7.1 and are using the PSS (Password Self Service), Password Syncronization functionality for 2 AD and 6 ABAP systems. This PSS is implemented to support our company ESS which is on the internet so that users can reset their own password. Hence to support it we have a architecture having one AD on the DMZ and another internal.
Both the AD repositories have been configured pointing to a perticular DC (Domain Contorller) . All the DC's have Phook installed on them.
Since Go-live we have not had any issue with the DC on the DMZ but the internal DC keeps going down once in a while and it doesnt have a pattern. We tried switching to different DC's also which didnt work. Right now we are keeping a close watch on the DC and we carryout a restart whenever it happens.
Did anyone come across such kind of a issue, if so then please let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hi Ahmed,
Thank you for your quick response!  Our secondary domain controller IP settings were set properly according to the recommendation, but the primary (the one having the issues) was not. I went ahead and changed the settings and did an ipconfig /registerdns
and restarted the netlogon service. Nothing changed after that. I ran a dcdiag and the only one that failed was this:
          Starting test: NCSecDesc
Error NT AUTHORITY\ENTERPRISE DOMAIN CONTROLLERS doesn't have
Replicating Directory Changes In Filtered Set
access rights for the naming context:
             DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=*hidden*,DC=*hidden*
Error NT AUTHORITY\ENTERPRISE DOMAIN CONTROLLERS doesn't have
Replicating Directory Changes In Filtered Set
access rights for the naming context:
             DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=*hidden*,DC=*hidden*
......................... *hidden PDC Name* failed test NCSecDesc
I'm going to restart the server tonight after those IP changes and let you know my outcome.
    Thanks again!

  • Iphone 5 has started powering down after upgrade to 7.02, help please.

My iPhone 5 started powering down after the 7.02 upgrade I did almost a week ago (3 times).  I realize now that it starts after I see a message notification on the home screen and click on the slider to enter my passcode and reply to the message.
I never get the chance to enter my passcode and the phone turns itself off. The only way I can bring it back is to connect it to my Mac and launch iTunes.  Then it reboots itself and behaves normally for 2 days.
    Any ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Query slows down after upgrade

    Hi,
After upgrade from oracle 10 to oracle 11 a simple query is slowing down alot.
Same amount of records, same table only the execution cost time is increased
Can someone give me some feedback over this problem?
Can I check some things to look into the problem?

Is it just one query or all queries are behaving strangely? If it's just one query, do a trace and see where it's slowing down.
In the meanwhile, you can also modify the optimizer_features_enable parameter at session level and check the explain plan.
    Alter session set optimizer_features_enable='10.2.0.5';
    Now test the query.
By the way, if you are just worried about the COST factor, you can just ignore it. COST by itself has no real meaning. You will only have to look at the response time.

  • Everything is slowed down after upgrading to ios8 ?

I have various problems after upgrading to IOS8 with mij Ipad2. Pages has for  example become very slow. I can say that it has in fact become unusable: I get typing errors caused by the slowness.
Another complaint is that the keyboard all the time covers the text.
Further I am using Icloud drive for Pages, but I want to change that. When I change this in the system, then I lose all my documents! ( but if I close WIFI then I keep the documents: I donot understand).
I would like to know if Apple reads these posts? And is there a simple possibilty to downgrade ?

    As Skydiver119 has reinforced,
Apple provides NO means or provision to downgrade iDevices to a previously installed iOS version.
There are unsupported methods to do so, but these involves doing things to your Apple iDevice that is NOT permitted by Apple and Apple has taken steps to make sure there are consequences, like making your iPad completely inoperable, by using unauthorized, unsupported and unofficial means to circumvent the normal, default operation of their mobile devices.
To use these methods to try and fix your Apple iDevice means, Apple is going to punish you for doing so, by making sure your iDevice no longer functions.

  • IPad Retina storage is going down after ios8.02 was installed.  I had over 6.4 gig before installation and am now down to less than 700 mb.  I've deleted apps, there's no music or videos on my iPad, and I've deleted most pictures.

IiPad retina storage is disappearing after update to ios8.02.  I had over 6.4 gig before the update.  I now have less than 710 mb.  There is no music or videos on the iPad.  I have deleted almost all apps and most photos.  Every time I use it, the storage is going down.  I have tried resetting by powering off and this has no effect.

How to Remove “Other” Data from iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
    http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-remove-other-data-from-iphone/
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
