Event 26330 "Database connectivity is lost"

Hi there,
at our customer we're using SCOM to monitor the productive SCSM Environments for alerts.
We had now couple of times the alert with ID 26330 and Source OpsMgr SDK Service. Here are some more details of the Event from the OperationsManager Log
The System Center Data Access service lost database connectivity.
Database name: ServiceManager
Server instance name: S000243\SCSMINSTANCE
Exception message: Transaction (Process ID 55) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
In most cases the Connection was re-established again within seconds. So my colleague and I started wondering why this alert is then still active. In the monitor details he checked what the healthy state conditions are so that this kind of alert gets auto-resolved
in SCOM. The monitor is apparently looking for another Event with ID 26331 to become healthy again. The weird thing though is that we never had such an Event logged yet, even if we forcely restart the Data Access Service and we can ensure that the Connection
is fine again this Event ID is not logged.
So after some research in the Internet we stumble upon this blog post:
http://blopon.blogspot.ch/2007/10/sdk-service-event-id-26330-is-raised.html
That's exactly what we're experiencing as well. He's saying this was a bug in SCOM 2007 and is most likely fixed by now. But we all know that SCSM is built upon the (old?) SCOM Framework. So is it possible that this bug has been fixed in SCOM 2007 but never
in SCSM?
We're running currently SCSM 2012 SP1 CU2 (about to updated to CU6 soon).
Had someone of you ever experienced the same Events and knows how to fix it properly? Just closing the alert and the Incident is just stalling the Event from happening again :)
Thanks
Alex

It is very possible. the Service Manager 2012 SDK is based on the 2010 SDK, which was itself based on the Ops Manager 2007 SDK. I can't find any documentation to this effect right now, but i would be more then willing to believe it was based on the RTM,
rather then a later Service Pack or CU.
This seems like an ideal time to test the new product team's suggestions on
recent LyncUp calls that https://connect.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/Feedback is a vital and open point of contact for issues and concerns. I'm personally skeptical of this claim,
given that (at the time of this post) there are three issues, one has been summarily dismissed, and the other two have no comment, but i haven't had anything to submit since I've been working with other system center components recently. If their claims hold
up, then this would be the perfect case for them to prove their new commitment beyond doubt, since this is an easily reproducible, seemingly easily diagnose-able, and possibly easily repairable fault.
I encourage you to throw this up there, with as much documentation as you can. i will watch with baited breath, to abuse an idiom, to see the response.

  • THE DATABASE CONNECTION IS LOST :;; WIERD  ORA-01012 NOT LOGGED ON ERROR

    ERROR: ORA-01012 NOT LOGGED ON ERROR
    I AM USING A JAVA SWING INTERFACE (JDK 1.1.8), WHICH USES JNI TO CALL C PROGRAMS WHICH IN TURN CONNECTS TO THE DATABASE, ORACLE 8.1.6.
    A DATABASE CONNECTION IS ESTABLISED IN THE MAIN CLASS BY CALLING A FUNCTION FROM THE CONSTRUCTOR.
    FOR ALL OTHER FUNCTION CALLS WHICH ARE MADE FROM WITHIN THIS CONSTRUCTOR, THE CONNECTION STAYS.
    BUT AFTER THE CONTRUCTOR CALL IS COMPLETE, DATABASE CONNECTION IS STRANGELY LOST. THUS ALL OTHER FUNCTION CALLS FAIL BECAUSE OF CONNECTION ISSUES GIVING ORA-01012. THOUGH IF I CHECK UP IN THE DATABASE, THE CONNECTION DOES FIND AN ENTRY.
    SO IT APPEARS THAT SOMEHOW THE JAVA INTERFACE LOOSES TRACK OF CONNECTION. BUT STRANGELY ALL THE FUNCTIONS WORK IF CALLED FROM THE CONSTRUCTOR......... BUT THATS NOT THE IDEA.
    PLEASE HELP, THIS PROBLEM IS BUGGING ME FOR WEEKS NOW.
    THANKS
    AMIT

    apologise for the caps lock.
    i am working on a previous system with java swing front end which alread uses jni, and connects to database using pro *c.
    My problem is that the connection is lost as soon as the constructor of the main class is run, giving an
    ORA-1012 NOT LOGGED ON ERROR.
    But if i place the same calls in the contructor all the database call work.
    It somehow appears that the java interface looses the connection context. Though the session does find entry in the oracle dynamic tables as long as i dont close the front end main window, thereby meaning that its the jave interface which looses the context.
    part of the code of the main class eiquser.
    //constructor
    public EiqUser() {
         super();
         initMRI();
    private void initMRI() {
         try {
              /* initialize geoManager environment */
              int rccc = new EiqCfuncs().eiqInitEnv();
    //eiqinitenv is a c function which connects to database using pro *C
              EiqCfuncs cfuncs = new EiqCfuncs();
              //EiqCfuncs has the prototypes of c functions used bye the java interface
              this.ivjFileMenu.setText(cfuncs.eiqGetText(resNum.getTEXT_FILE_MENU())); // sets the menu name
    and so on.........
    public void eiqUser_WindowClosed(java.awt.event.WindowEvent windowEvent) {
         new EiqCfuncs().eiqTermEnv(); // gives ora-1012 error
    //eiqtermenv is supposed to disconnect from data base, but returns an ora-1012 not logged on erro
         return;
    //eiqtermenv closes the connection with the data base. But fails in this case. if i place the same call ( eiqtermenv) in the initMRI function or the contructor it succeeds.
    Plus if i dont use the java interace and use a c stub for executing the same sequence of functions, then i dont face any problems.
    the proc calls exectuted ultimately by...
    :::eiqinitenv
    exec sql connect using :sqlid identified by sqlpw; // succeeds giving sqlerr.sqlcode=0;
    ::::eiqterm env
    exec sql commit work; //fails giving 0ra-1012 error
    exec sql rollback work;
    Why is the java interface loosing track of the connection once done with the constructor of the main class?? The session still finds an entry in the oracle dynamic tables.
    Please help
    Thx

  • DW8 - My Site Database Connections are Missing

    Has anyone experienced their site database connections being
    lost in Dreamweaver 8? This is not isolated to one site definition,
    but on all of my sites.
    I cannot add a new database connection, and I cannot access
    existing database connections while trying to create new
    recordsets. All my existing recordsets and bindings appear in the
    Application panel. When I click the + button to create a new
    connection in the Databases tab, nothing happens. My sites are
    fully defined with document types and testing servers defined.
    Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix it? I've
    searched and searched and cannot find anything about this anywhere.
    Thanks in advance.
    hg

    Hi!
    You could try this It worked for me on all my connections.
    I found a extension called SP2DBFix1.0.2.mxp
    Down load here,
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dreamweaver/extensions/SP2DBFix1.0.2.mxp
    to fix a XP pro service pack2 connections.
    To fix: I went to Sites/Advanced/Remove connection Scripts,
    ran that removed
    my connection scripts. I deleted all my connections in the
    connections
    folder, so make sure you copy the connection info so you can
    re make them. I
    then shut down Dreamweaver 8 installed the extension then
    opened dreamweaver
    8 made a new connection and it works.You have to run this
    same routine on
    every site you have setup with connection scripts sorry, but
    its a bug of
    some kind.
    Good Luck.

  • Processes 'stuck' after problems with database connection

    First in the production environment, during database failover (MSSQL Server cluster), and later in testing, we encountered processes that are 'stuck' on some random operation. Admin console doesn't show stalled operation or branches, process is running, all operations are completed except last which was in several cases still in status Running, and in one case it was Completed but next operation was not started.
    When operation is still running one would expect to select it and click 'Retry' in hope that process will continue but it seems there exist a bug in "Process Instance Detail" part of the admin console - it gives an error: "This operation cannot be completed without the selection of one or more operations from the list below!"
    We can try using 'Terminate' for this operation and probably several that follow (because they would probably stall without data from first terminated operation) in hope that process which runs in big user loop can arrive at a step where it can recover from all this using existing data but it's messy and doesn't always work.
    When the operation is in status Completed admin cannot do anything at all. This completed operation cannot be retried or terminated because selection box is grayed out. Process and data in it is irrecoverably lost and must be initiated from start.
    I must say we had large problems before if database connection is lost even for few seconds (intentional fail over from one db node to another) - but now, when we filled check-connection-sql in datasource configuration Livecycle is behaving a lot better but still with above problems.
    How can it happen that LC stops executing process workflow and stops on some operation just because it wasn't able to get valid db connection for several seconds? Is it some problem with transactions or what? What can I do? Where to look?
    We are still on LC ES2 SP3. JBoss on Windows Server 2003 and MSSQL 2005.
    Any help is appreciated.

    I would suggest you to contact the Adobe support so they can look further in system as well as LC database.

  • FIM 2010 Sync Error : stopped-database-connection-lost

    Hello everyone,
    a weird thing just happened to me,
    i'm synchronizing my MA and suddently i get the "stopped-database-connection-lost" error
    i have 5 Galsync MAs working perfectly and this sixth one just failing ... (since like today)
    which makes me wonder what is happening ... ?
    any ideas ?
    thanks !
    Hitch Bardawil

    Hitch,
    Look in the event log on the FIM Sync Server and on the SQL Server.
    This error occurs when FIM can't contact the SQL Server that hosts the FIMSynchronizationService database.
    Does this happen every time the sixth MA is run? What if you run them in a different order (might help us distinguish between a resource issue and something specific to that MA)?

  • EJB Timer stops when database connection lost

    G'day.
    We use EJB Timers quite successfully in stateless session beans under Sun Java System Application Server 8.1 on Windows Server 2003.
    We start and stop the timers for specific session beans using public intefaces on their respective beans. This works fine.
    The problem we have is when the JDBC connection used by the EJBTimer service is dropped, such as when the remote database / machine falls over or (probably) when the network is lost. All the timers stop working at this point.
    The timers do not restart when the database connection is restored either, despite the entries still being in the ejb__timers__tbl table.
    If we stop and start the application server instance then they do restart.
    We've looked at the setup of the timers but this seems to be pretty straightforward with no options that seem to influence this.
    We've tried altering the JDBC connection validation settings but this doesn't seem to have made any difference.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Robski!

    There are no special options to handle this case in the current timer service implementation. Please file an issue describing the scenario here :

  • Harry Potter and the lost Weblogic-database connection

    Hi All,
    I don't know if this is the correct forum, but here goes...
    I'm working with Weblogic, connecting to an Oracle database on a rather unstable network. From time to time, the connection to the database is lost, and at the moment, this means having to restart weblogic.
    Is there any way to configure weblogic to automatically reconnect to a database if the connection is lost and then restoired?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    you should have a connection pool setup in weblogic and if the connection is bad, you return gracefully from that method/class, then when you try again you'll acquire a fresh connection
    but you absolutely SHOULD NOT have to restart the server for this
    even if the db server goes down and gets rebooted you shouldn't have to restart weblogic

I had a lot of other issues with my jdbc driver but after downgrading to an older version those issues are resolved.Only this one is still there! Is there any other way to close the connection (like using dbcontroller or etc.)?
