Event ID 80 SideBySide

I am getting the below error while trying to open Dreamweaver though the application runs alright. The errors started to appear after the CC update. Could someone please suggest me how to fix these issues.
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC\Dreamweaver.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Component 1: C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0. 7601.17514_none_fa396087175ac9ac.manifest. Component 2: C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.76 01.17514_none_41e6975e2bd6f2b2.manifest.

Hi All,
Can you please try out the below mentioned 2 possible workarounds (try workaround 1 first since it is easier):
Workaround 1:
Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Runtime by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29
Restart your system
Launch Dreamweaver CC
Workaround 2:
Open "Windows Explorer" and go to "<Installation drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC"
Make a backup of "Dreamweaver.exe"
Download and install "Resource Tuner" from this link: http://www.restuner.com/download.htm
Launch "Resource Tuner"
Go to menu "File -> Open File..."
Browse to "<Installation drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC" and select "Dreamweaver.exe"
Click "Open"
On the left-hand-side, expand "Manifest"
Select the file displayed under "Manifest"
Click the "Resource Editor" button
Locate the following section (please note that the value for "publicKeyToken" may vary) <dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency>
Select and delete the entire section as in previous step
Click OK
Click Yes (for the confirmation dialog)
Go to menu "File -> Save File As..."
Keep the name as "Dreamweaver.exe" and click "Save"
Click Yes (for the confirmation dialog)
Close "Resource Tuner"
Launch Dreamweaver CC
Please let us know if this workaround works for you.
Thanks for your patience.
Thanks,

  • PDF Printer not saving files; 9.5.5 (pro) with Windows 7, 64 bit

I imagine that the root of this issue has to do with compatibility between the OS 64 and and 32 bit application of Acrobat 9.5.5. The installation has been uninstalled, reinstalled, and fully repaired. Initially, while printing from powerpoint (but also any other source, including chrome, firefox, or from acrobat's own interface), the PDF printer would output a generic error about the "current printer setup". After reveiwing the event log, a sidebyside 40 seemed to be causing the problem. I followed the solution posted at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/a4c36078-6419-4424-8a43-ff3832786 b59/many-sidebyside-78-errors-with-acrobat-9-designer, but with no luck. I then went and installed the PDF printer manually using the adobePDF.inf file. This removed the generic error, but now when converting using the PDF Printer, no file is saved and no error dialog appears. Nothing is showing in the event viewer either. Print-to-pdf works, but the user needs specific formatting that occurs while printing. Any ideas what may be occuring?
Running 9.5.5 Adobe Pro on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system.

Let's step back a bit. First, since you have apparently been successful at installing the printer let us see if it works. Open and application and go to the print menu and select Print-to-file for the Adobe PDF printer. Assuming that is successful, open the file that is created (usually a PRN extension, though it is a PS file) in Distiller. Do you get a PDF now, or errors about the creation?
If the PDF is created, use ctrl-alt-del>task manager to see if Acrotray is running in the background. If not, go to the Acrobat (or Distiller) folder and start it. If you can not start it then Acrotray is the problem that you are having. It might be that it will work if installed in a 32-bit compatibility mode.

  • Acrobat DC Pro Compare 2 Versions Gives Distorted Results

When attempting to compare 2 pdf versions in Acrobat DC Pro, the highlighted results become distorted.  Can only view the compare results by hovering over each word or zooming in enough to see the highlighted word.  Is this a known issue in DC? We did not have any issue's until we upgraded to DC, XI worked fine.
    Here's an example:

    Thanks for reporting this issue.
Regrettably, I have not been able to reproduce this problem on my MacOS 10.9.5 with any of my sample PDF files.
    Some additional questions:
    (1) Does this happen with any and all PDF files you attempt to apply this Preflight profile to?
    (2) Are you simply checking or fixing using the profile?
    (3) Does Acrobat crash when using other, similar profiles? If so, which do crash and which don't?
    (4) Are you using the English version of Acrobat or some other language version?
    (5) Do you have any plug-ins installed?
Let me know the answers to these questions and we will try to proceed from there.

  • Adobe Acrobat DC hangs shortly after start

    Hi,
After starting Adobe Acrobat DC in Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64Bit, after 1 or 2 seconds, the application does not respond anymore. I can only terminate the application. Anyone else experiencing this behaviour?
    Thanks.
    With regards,
    Reza Stephan Amiri

Something very interesting happened in my case:
As sukridt15 had mentioned, I ran the Repair option. It didn't really have any impact. I had exactly the same behaviour as JoninJacksonville, only perhaps the hang duration was not as long anymore.
At some other time I started Photoshop CC 2014. At the beginning it was also not very responsive, (before upgrading to Adobe Acrobat DC I never had any problems with Photoshop), choosing any option took several seconds. I then tried to print a picture, as mentioned it also took several seconds to load the dialog box for printing but once it was there, I was able to print without any issues and Photoshop started to become responsive in a normal manner again. Interestingly enough from that time I also didn't have any problems with Adobe Acrobat DC. I can't tell you how this is related but that's how the problem was resolved.
I also get the following error in the event log:
    Source: SideBySide
    Event ID: 78
    Description:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Component 1: C:\windows\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0. 9600.17415_none_6240486fecbd8abb.manifest.
    Component 2: C:\windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.96 00.17415_none_a9ed7f470139b3c1.manifest
I'm not sure whether the unresponsiveness has something to do with this but I'm sure that this error in the event log should not necessarily be there.
    Again, I'm using Core i7, 64Bit, 32GB RAM, Windows 8.1 Enterprise Version.
BTW, when I installed Adobe Acrobat DC on a Surface Pro 3 which has Windows 8.1 Professional installed, there weren't any problems. I haven't checked the event log to see whether the error is there as well.

    Reza Stephan Amiri

  • InDesign Server Fails to start

We are unable to get our plugin running under the Relase version of InDesign CS4 Server, under Debug on a development server all runs OK.
Running Windows Server 2003 SE SP2
    .Net 2.0 SP2
    .Net 3.0 SP2
    .Net 3.5 SP2
The Error I am getting the following error in the windows Event log
    Source: SideBySide
Description: Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4 Server\Plug-ins\OurPlugin\OurPlugin_CS4.PLN. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.
I have also tried installing the rapid release patch to 6.0.5 but it has made no difference.
    Any suggestions welcomed.

OK, I found the problem and fixed it.
I moved my system to a different router recently. When the DHCP stuff initialized the network settings the new router gave me a new IP address. However, the Solaris 8 DHCP support did not update the /etc/hosts file with the new DHCP address, rather the old DHCP address was still there. When I removed the old DHCP address from /etc/hosts, then rebooted my system, the DHCP support updated my /etc/hosts with the new IP address, and appserver7 started without problems.
I must say, appserver7 was not at all helpful in debugging the problem. Granted the DHCP support failed to configure the /etc/hosts file properly, but appserver7 more or less just died with no useful information about the problem. Everything else in the system seemed to work OK, so it was a stroke of luck that I looked in the /etc/hosts file.

I know others have had same/similar experiences with somewhat earlier versions of Acrobat Pro, for example:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5164184#5164184
I've reinstalled Acrobat Pro, and also did a Repair Installation from the Help menu, but nothing seems to fix it.
I also have Adobe CS5 installed (not all components).  All software is fully updated -- both Adobe products and Windows 7.
I occasionally use the form functions of Acrobat Pro and would like to be able to edit forms... so I much rather not disable the entire function.
Any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    JF

This has bothered me for a while, never was able to find a solution, so today it began to bother me and I thought I would bump up this thread.
Is there a solution? Or has Adobe decided not to address it for their customers that get the error? For me, my event log shows this error at least once for every day.

  • SideBySide event id 80

    Hello Support ,
Could you please help with the issues below ?
We have large number of the computers which have been affected by SideBySide event id 80 (Application log) while trying to load Adobe Dreamweaver CC.

  • SideBySide Error - Event ID 80

I've done an uninstall/reinstall. Still receiving the following error in the Event Viewer. I do not have Admin Privileges as our IT department doesn't allow users to have them. I get them to Run as Different User to install. Hope this helps.
Initial install was from the CC Manager and I allowed it to uninstall the prior Acrobat version before installing DC.

Let me know if there are additional steps to take to correct.
PS if someone knows a way to run Creative Cloud without Admin Privileges or setup permissions on specific directories on a system to allow CC to work without IT I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks

Add me to the list - As soon as I installed Acrobat DC Standard, I started getting these same Event 80 side-by-side errors as reported above.
The installer un-installed Acrobat 10 and then installed DC
During a chat with Tech Support, he had me download the acrobat cleaner, un-install, the re-install DC - nothing changed.
I have been using Acrobat for more than 15 yr - never had acrobat generate these side-by-side errors before.
I suspect that there are a lot more people having the same problem, but unless they check their event viewer on a regular basis, they may not know these errors are being generated.
I noticed that when the computer is first booted, there are one or more instances of this error...then when acrobat is launched, there are several more instances. Every time acrobat is launched more errors are generated.
Support tech was supposed to send me an email with any findings.. now Adobe sent me an email notice letting me know that my incident number would be closed unless I continued to provide updates to the problem to keep it open... This is just reversed to what it should be - STILL WAITING FOR ADOBE RESPONSE!!

  • Creative Cloud app: SideBySide EventID 80 error in Windows 7

Since updating to the latest version of the CC Desktop app last week I've noticed in Event Viewer that I'm consistently getting an error each time I use my PC (running Win7 x64). I've never seen this error before and wondered if other Windows users have encountered it (known issue?) and how to go about resolving it. Here's the error log summary:
Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files (x86)\Adobe\adobe creative cloud\Utils\Creative Cloud Uninstaller.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Component 2: C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0. 7601.17514_none_fa396087175ac9ac.manifest.
It appears that when the CC update ran, it installed (reinstalled?) Microsoft Visual C++ 2010  x86 Redistributable - 10.0.40219 and I believe that this has possibly caused the glitch, but I'm not certain. As you can see from the above log, this has something to do with the CC uninstaller: odd, as I'm obviously not trying to uninstall it each time I boot up the PC.
Does anyone have any advice? Fortunately, this doesn't appear to be causing any problems in launching my applications, and I can open up CC desktop without any issues. I wouldn't even know about this if I didn't keep an eye on Event Viewer.
    M

Yes, there's no doubt that this error is being caused by the CC app, and like you, it happened after I last updated the app.
I've tried a number of things to resolve this, including re-installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable, removing and re-installing the CC app, etc., but I continue to get this error message being logged by Windows more or less daily.
I decided not to go to the lengths of the solution proposed by Vienna_Sydney because, whilst annoying, the error isn't causing any noticeable problems on my system (some folks who've had SideBySide errors related to other applications (notably Acrobat) have had system crashes so I count myself lucky), but I'm still concerned that I'm getting this error being logged on my otherwise perfectly functioning and well maintained PC, all thanks to an Adobe install. I'd like to think Adobe are on the case, but the CC app seems to be consistently buggy and I'm not holding my breath...

  • SideBySide Errors w R&R 4.30

I just removed XP and installed W7 Pro 32-bit on a T61.  I installed numerous of the Lenovo applications, including Power Manager, Access Connections 6.01, System Update and R&R 4.30.0027.  I noticed many SideBySide Event ID 33 Errors.  The machine has Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86 9.0.30729.17 and x86 9.0.30729.6161, the former from the original installation and the latter a Microsoft update.  I determined that R&R was causing the SideBySide Errors.  Apparently, the scheduler_proxy.exe process was looking for versoin 8.0.50727.762 and couldn't find it.  Other processes were looking for version 8.0.50608.0 and couldn't find it.  I uninstalled R&R and the SideBySide Errors are gone.  Incidentally, during the install I was informated that scheduler_proxy.exe couldn't be automatically stopped by the uninstaller and needed to be.  I stopped the process manually using Task Manager and the uninstallation completed.  It appears that System Update also uses the scheduler_proxy.exe process so I had a number of problems after rebooting, although System Update seemed to run normally.  I then uninstalled System Update, during which I was informed that not all files would be deleted for one reason or another.  After another reboot, there were a number of Errors related to scheduler_proxy.exe in Event Viewer.  I then re-installed System Update, which again seemed to run normally.  Now no SideBySide errors, but also no R&R 4.30.
My question is, does R&R 4.30.0027 require instances of Visual C++ other than the two already on the machine?
For what it's worth, I lalso couldn't install the scan/copy/fax/print suite of programs for an HP Officejet and got error messages that included "file could not be found" and that a Runtime error had occurred.  I suspect I have some kind of Visuall C++ issue and would appreciate any help / guidance / sympathy that can be provided.

the errors occur shortly after booting the system.  is there a fix for these errors?

z solution is pretty simple. as always when users should repair Adobe Corp errors  while Adobe Corp's time of sweat dreams....
    1. download & install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update (latest VC++2005) both x86 & x64:
        http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=14 431
       this is mainly for availability of ms assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="x86" (and amd64) publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" in ur Win7sp1x64;
    2. download & install z free resources editor application from here http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/
    3.  open in Resource Hacker file FormDesigner.exe subfolder '24' then '1' and click string 1033. then change z part of this string as explained below. in short it's just swap all "x86" entries to "*" ones (means either x86 or amd64):
    a) original string:
    <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"><assemblyIdentity version="1.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="x86" name="FormDesigner" type="win32"></assemblyIdentity><description>Themed Form Designer</description><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentit y type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*" processorArchitecture="x86"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></ dependency><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssem bly></dependency><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.MFC" version="8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssem bly></dependency><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><dep endency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssem bly></dependency><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.MFC" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssem bly></dependency><trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"><security><requestedPrivileg es>
    <requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="false"></requestedExecutionLevel>
    </requestedPrivileges></security></trustInfo></assembly>
    b) modded string:
    <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"><assemblyIdentity version="1.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="*" name="FormDesigner" type="win32"></assemblyIdentity><description>Themed Form Designer</description><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*" processorArchitecture="*"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><dependency ><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><de pendency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.MFC" version="8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><de pendency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><dependency><dependentAs sembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><de pendency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.MFC" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><tr ustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"><security><requestedPrivileges>
    <requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="false"></requestedExecutionLevel>
    </requestedPrivileges></security></trustInfo></assembly>
    that's all. enjoy.
    rgds,
P.S. maybe u can skip item#1. up 2 u. sorry i'm not sure because i've started from item#1 due to another errors with ID 33. that was solved by install of z above ms vc++2005 update x86.

  • Win 7 SideBySide Error with Acrobat Pro

I am running Win 7 64 bit SP1 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5.4.  In the Event Viewer I keep getting Error ID 80 SideBySide which says:

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I've also read that installing manual updates might help but when I tried that I got an error to the effect that I didn't have that program installed.  I'm pretty sure I did that correctly but maybe not.   Anyway, is anyone familiar with this and can tell me what I can do to fix it?
    Thank you.

What happened was I did the initial install using my CD and set Acrobat to not download or install updates since I was going to try and do that manually.   I tried to do it manually, but when I went to install the update got a message that the proper program did not exist or something like that.   I thought maybe I tried to jump too far too fast - i.e., from my disk which I believe is 9.0 to 9.5.4 from Adobe's website.  So I was going to come back when I had more time and do more incremental upgrades.
Later that day there was an Adobe Updater icon in my task bar and I thought it was for another program and clicked on it.  It updated Acrobat to 9.5.4. Both when the original 9.0 was installed and when the update occurred, I got the SideBySide errors.
I'm fine with uninstalling it and trying again, but I'm not really sure what's the best approach at this point.  I'm wondering if anyone else has had any success it installing it and not getting the SideBySide errors.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Air causing error in event log

I installed Windows 7 64-bit on a system recently.  This morning I installed PS CS4, including Adobe Air.
I've now gotten 5 of these errors recorded in the event log.
    Source:  SideBySide
    Event ID:  63
    Level:  Error
Activation context generation failed for "x:\adobe cs4\payloads\adobeamp-mul\adobe air\Versions\1.0\Adobe AIR.dll".Error in manifest or policy file "x:\adobe cs4\payloads\adobeamp-mul\adobe air\Versions\1.0\Adobe AIR.dll" on line 3. The value "MAJOR_VERSION.MINOR_VERSION.BUILD_NUMBER_MAJOR.BUILD_NUMBER_MINOR" of attribute "version" in element "assemblyIdentity" is invalid.
How do I get rid of this?

I have had the same issue since  I bought PS-CS4 and Lightroom2.0 back in OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2009.
    Directly from Windows Event Log:
EventID 63: Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe AIR\Versions\1.0\Adobe AIR.dll".Error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe AIR\Versions\1.0\Adobe AIR.dll" on line 3. The value "MAJOR_VERSION.MINOR_VERSION.BUILD_NUMBER_MAJOR.BUILD_NUMBER_MINOR" of attribute "version" in element "assemblyIdentity" is invalid.
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Considering this ERROR is CONSTANTLY being JACKED into the Event Log, I had hoped that others would be asking Adobe for a solution.  I guess there are just two of us experiencing this problem - I seriously DOUBT that.
Having DEVELOPMENT experience in several programming languages, it appears there is a SIMPLE error in the DLL file.  PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP!
As much as we have to pay for this software, I would expect not to have these kind of issues.  Adobe PLEASE RESPOND!!!

I have an nvidia card... not sure why I'm getting the AMD errors. I've tried everything I can think of...
    Help! Much obliged in advance!

Allow me to quote a colleague of mine  from this thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1304813
"Have you installed some "Windows Updates" lately? If yes, then this issue is most probably happening due to the updates. We have had exactly same issues reported by other customers (with same Windows event logs).
Please follow the steps mentioned below and see if you get a resolution to your issue:
    1. Uninstall Dreamweaver CC
    2. Do a "System Restore" on your Windows machine back to somewhere in early/mid JULY (if that's available) or earlier.
    3. Install Dreamweaver CC and then update to latest version 13.1 build # 6443
    4. Optional - If you wish, you can install the available Windows Updates.
Please let us know if you still face this issue."
