I use firefox and since i HAVE UPGRADED to 10.8.2 I have been getting the spinning wheel more than ever. I have to force quit browser to have it stop . It's very annoying and I have talked to a few other's that are having this same problem. It's getting very annoying and need to do something about it. I have used OnyX to clean up my Mac, but that doesn't seem to help at all. Has anyone else here been experiencing these issues .. Firefox. Skype etc ....

Try this:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Then, try and send one to him again.

Since the last iphone update i have been getting the message cannot connect to itunes store when i try to download any application. How do i resolve this?

Try logging out of your account on the iPhone by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months (or maybe a year or two) in the future and then re-trying

I have been using itunes on my windows 64 bit laptop for years but since downloading the latest itunes 10.7 update whenever I opened itunes the error message 'A required itunes component is not installed. Please reinstall itunes (-42404)'
Itunes would still load and play music in my library and I could still sync my ipod but when loading a CD itunes would not recognise the album/tracks and I would need to type them manualing after uploading.
I have just bought the new iphone5 and went to sync the phone with itunes. itunes recognises the iphone when plugged in via the usb port or when wi fi is turned on but itunes will not allow the phone to sync.
I spent over an hour the other morning speaking to apple customer support and have ensured I have administer right and that UAC is turned off.
I was taken through msconfigure and adjusted the startup tab but still no joy.
In the end I was e-mailed instructions on how to uninstall and then reinstall itunes and component parts.
Now that I've uninstalled itunes when I try reinstalling I get the following messages during the download.
The 1st message is;
'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
When I click ok the next message that appears sometime later during the install is;
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) Failed to start Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
The options I have are to abort, retry or ignore. If I retry the same message comes back and if I abort or ignore the download continues and I then get the following message:
'Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run itunes Helper. Please uninstall itunes, then reinstall itunes again. Error 2'
After attempting to reinstall itunes only some components were installed however itunes would not open.
It would appear many people have experienced problems with this latest download!

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

My computer has been getting the pin wheel and moving very slow since the i downloaded yosemite

Whenever i have a video playing from my internet browser it causes my computer to pin wheel and go into thinking mode with all of my apps that are open. It moves very slow and i have to force quit everything and reboot my computer to make it act normal. this all started after the software update. Any suggestions>

Mine has been moving extremely slow, too. I had a problem downloading and installing Yosemite and after many conversations with Apple Care, the solution was to remove the 3rd party RAM I had just installed prior to the upgrade. That solved the download/install problem, but now it's slow as anything. I opened my activity monitor and sure enough, the memory pressure is at full load so I have to install more memory. The trick is to make sure it's truly compatible.
Have you checked your activity monitor's memory report?

HT4352 I have followed all the instructions on home sharing and it used to work perfectly. With the new apple OS upgrade my apple TV now longer sees anything, even though I I applied all home sharing settings again. Anyone know how to fix this?

I am trying to get home sharing to work on the applie tv and its not working after a Mac OS update. It has not worked for about a month and use to work fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem. Is Apple working on a fix for the problem? Is there a work around?

A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.

I upgraded my iPod 1st Generation from 1.1.5 to iOS 3.1.3. through iTunes. After it went through the upgrading process, I received the error message, "iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6). I went to another PC and was able to restore to the original version. Depending on the software you use (and how many programs you use at once) you may need to add more RAM. Shutdown with 10.8.2 is noticably longer than Lion's shutdown (and even slower than the original release of 10.8). I suggest you reboot your computer and immediately launch Activity Monitor. You want to watch two things: 1) RAM - as you use the computer over the next couple of hours after the reboot are you seeing the Page Out number increasing pretty quickly? That would be an indication that your computer is quickly using up RAM and pushing software and data into Virtual Memory to make room. This could account for the slow computer. 2) CPU - unless you are running some heavy duty software, your CPU usage may spike close to 80-90% for a few seconds but mostly hover in the 20-40% range. If it is higher than that, or if you see a single process using more than 70% constantly you may have a rogue process that is dragging the computer down.

I have a similar problem. On my iMac, I swapped out (at Genius Bar) my HD via Seagate replacement program. Ever since my time machine won't backup. I get a error msg that says:
Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to "[my time machine name]"
The backup disk is not available.

I'll get 20-30 minutes of work done and then a sync or something comes on, the color wheel of death shows up, and my productivity is shot. I have to shut the computer down the hard way! when it comes back up, it is still either frozen or slow. I've checked in at the genius bar and all they say is that there have been some problems that Apple is trying to fix. It effects Mail, Contacts, Safari, Calendar....yeah, pretty much everything. My iPhone and iPad are not effected as much so I end up doing what I can with them. I've seen the blogs out there and understand that many have the same problem. I have been waiting to read about a fix but I have found nothing! Any ideas?

Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow the system down.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
For startup issues... open System Preferences > Users & Groups - Login Items. Delete any apps listed there then restart your mac.
And disable the Lion "resume" feature.
Open System Preferences > General
Deselect: Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
And Spotlight may be indexing... you can turn that off > Turning Off Spotlight | Mac Tricks And Tips
