Ever Since iCloud and HOmesharing, my playlists are completely empty and also most of my music has an exclamation point next it and when I click "get Info" and "find", it says it can't be found...
...I am really upset. I waited a long time before calling tech support b/c I knew it was going to be a nightmare. I'm 2 hours into a call with no resolution....
MOST OF MY MUSIC FILES HAVE AN EXCLAMATION POINT NEXT TO THEM. Many were from 100s of cds I've burned over the years (ever since the first iPod came out), and the rest were iTunes purchases. I can't tell which is which at this point but in my iPhone, on our iPods, on my iPad2, and my iMac....all of my playlists are empty. I distraught....It's years of building. Please someone, help me!
Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again.

You can use the disk diagnostic tool built into the iPod's firmware to test the health of it's Hard Drive. See this post from another forum member turingtest2 on how to do this as well as what the resulting numbers mean.

Hello. I am trying to change the colors on my ical. I have been able to select a calendar group, click "get info" and then "other" in the color options and which point a a lot of color options are available. HOWEVER, I can't seem to select the color. I click on a new color and press enter and nothing happens...not sure what I am doing wrong.

Can anyone help me write a script that would click "get info" and then "enter" on each movie in my itunes library? I am asking because my itunes 11 repeatedly loses the artwork to my movies in my itunes library. I can restore the artwork (and make my apple tv see the movie exists as well) by going into the movie library and clicking on each movie by hand, slecting get info, and then selecting enter. Now doing this 10 times in 20 days was fun and all BUT I would really like to automate the process so everytime itunes screws it up I can fix it easier.
I saw this example of an itunes script that restores artwork for music

Select one and hit the Space bar to view it in QuickLook. Use the forward arrow keys to move from file to file. If the file can't be viewed in the QuickLook mode then the file is damaged and probably can't be copied or moved.
You could try a photo file recovery application like MediaRECOVER which can scan the memory card and tell you what files, if any, can be recovered before you have to purchase it.

• iMovie ill behaving - Trash the iMovie pref file - use to set things right
• in reg. to Photos - Did You change iPhoto Photo Library - Then iMovie get's lost as it peeks into iPhoto on start up to see where photos are stored. Set iPhoto back to first Photo Library (when iMovie is not running) then start iMovie.

The exclamation points are due to iTunes not being able to find your music. This can be caused from either music being deleted from the computer or if the music folder has changed locations.
iTunes does not actually store the music in the program. All music is saved on the hard drive of your PC. iTunes just creates a link to their location and if that link is broken the exclamation points appear.
I see you're using a windows computer, the best way to locate these songs and add them back in to iTunes is to search for them.
You can click on your start menu, then in the search field type either the title of a particular song or .M4P
This should locate the music for you. Once you locate all the music or the one in particular you can right click on it and select properties. In properties you will be able to see the location.
An example of a location is, C:User Name/Documents and Settings/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media
Once you have that location you can go back to iTunes, click on a song with an exclamation, it will ask you if you would like to locate the file. Say yes and then direct the path to that song and after you select the appropriate song for that 1 file iTunes will ask you if you would like it to locate the other songs that are missing. Just say yes and your library will be back! -

Any ideas of what might have changed since the last time it was able to successfully connect? Did you recently install any new software or USB peripherals/drivers that could be causing some sort of conflict?
What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting?
Does the Shuffle still charge while you have it plugged in?

BethThe usual reason for missing files is that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
When you get things fixed make a backup.

Says "Volume can not be found" when I click my Ipod in Finder.
When I click on my Ipod in Finder, it says "volume can not be found for (my ipod)". And, my ipod doesn't display on the desktop. How can I fix this please??

Trying to sync audio books to my ipad. I downloaded audiobooks to my itunes on my computer, but the only thing that shows up is books. It will not sync to my iPad. They are listed under music and when I hit "get info" and options, the only option it gives me is books.
OK, found my answer to Problem 2: I need to upgrade my OS to 10.7.4 or higher.

I am getting entries which are 'all day' entries duplicated 8 to 9 times. I have updated my software on the phone to the latest version. Entries in iCal are only once. I have completely emptied my iPhone of all data. Has Apple resolved the issue yet?
Simple solution. Get a real internet service and not a cell phone internet connection service it was never meant to be used as the primary internet service
And how do you lose a home and job and be sued as you claim. What over 10 Gb of data? Give me a break

I made the fatal mistake of allowing iCloud to handle my @mac mail account.
I had set this address up with aliases and never had a problem.
Ever since iCloud has been handling it I have had problems.
It seams impossible to claim my account back from iCloud. How can it be achieved or has Apple set a booby trap?iCloud is the successor to MobileMe. MobileMe shuts down forever tomoorrow.
If you only want to use the email portion of your previous MobileMe account you can. You do not have to use all the other features of iCloud, just like you didn't have to use all the other features of MobileMe.
The email account has not really changed at all. Just the server address it comes from.
The sending emails problem you are having, is this on your Mac in Mail, in webmail at iCloud.com or on your iOS device?
When it doesn't succeed in sending, what does it do? Any error message?
What mail server settings are you using in Mail? What version of Mac OS X are you using? -

BaconBits is right to ask if the files are protected or not.
DRM files can only be transferred using Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource or Nano Media Explorer so that the licenses are transferred. Do not try drag'n'drop with Windows Explorer on porotected files. This is explained in the Help file manual on your CD.
Also do not use Audible Manager to transfer music files.
