Every time I start up Firefox the PluginChecker loads in addition to my home page.

In tools/ startup "show my home page is selected".
There does not appear to be anything else but the URL for my home page in the homepage URL window in tools/start up.
Other related problem: If I do not have "history cleared when Firefox closes", all the previous tabs open next time I start up. (I do NOT have "show my windows and tabs from time" selected.)
If I have history kept, and open and close a bunch of times, I will get the screen filled with one home page and as many plugincheckers as I closed down with plus one.

Thee can also be a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.sqlite, extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry.<br />
New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is an update.

  • Since latest update, every time I start up Firefox the "New Tab" button is gone and I need to re-add it from the "customise toolbar" menu.

  • Every time I start up Firefox, it always prompts me to reisntall the same pile of add-ons and extentions; I install them; still happens; why?

Regarding Firefox 16.0.2. Every time I start up Firefox, especially after a period with my comp in standby mode, I am always asked to install several add-ons and extentions. Always the same ones, and always several. I install them, again and again, yet I am still always prompted to reinstall every time I start Firefox. I've always had this batch installed, but I don't know why it keeps telling me to reinstall them.

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Every time I start up Firefox, it checks for plugin updates. All my plugins are up to date, but it continues to load the plugin site. How do I make it stop?

Starting on Fri. 6/10/11, every time I start up Firefox 3.6.17, it loads the plugin update site. Initially, it said my Adobe reader plugin was out of date. Therefore I updated that plugin, yet that did not fix the problem. So I was finally forced to disable the plugin. After doing this, the plugin updates check still runs every time I start FF. However, they all come back up to date.
So my question is how do you make this plugin update check stop running. I had made no changes to firefox prior to this.

There's a fault with the blocklist.xml file which was updated on Friday, it should be fixed on Monday and you should get the updated file on Monday or Tuesday.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Why do I have to download every time? I need it in order to open strayer university's home page!

In order for me to open strayer university's home page, I have to down load firefox. Can I keep it as a home page or something so that I don't have to redownload again.

I limit on how to gift money has no correlation to the player being bad. Ipods remain the most user friendly devices available. I looked at most before purchasing one myself.
Don't know what the issue is with getting a gift card at a store. I have always made iTunes purchases from a balance created by entering the cards. That way I keep my spending down to what I can afford instead of charging.

  • Firefox opens up "you are updated to newest firefox version" page every time i start. Does the same for for updated extensions. Also checks for add-on compatibility everytime i start. Please help me.

Everytime i start Firefox (version 9.0.1 -release version) it checks for compatibility with the add-ons just as if i just installed firefox. It also opens up "you have successfully updated to the latest version" pages for firefox (and extensions. ie flashgot and downloadhelper). My homepage was always blank and firefox was always set to load the pages from the last session. A similar issue was covered in this support but that solution (setting the homepage to default) didnt help me.

    Hi meric07,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Firefox repeatedly asks to use 3 specific fonts on my backup drive every time I start up Firefox even if I tell it not to ask me again.

I am using Firefox 3.6.10 on a iMac with a LaCie backup drive attached. Every time I launch Firefox, it asks me in 3 seperate pop-up boxes if it can use the following fonts on the backup drive.(Quick Type Mono, SvttTwo ITC TT, and SvtyTwo OS ITC). It claims they are not installed on the backup drive. Every time, I check the box "Don't ask me again" after allowing it to use those fonts but I still get the 3 pop-up windows upon a new launch of Firefox. I will also add that I clone my iMac hard drive to the backup drive so the backup drive should have everything the actual hard drive has including fonts. This is very frustrating so hope someone can help. Thanks!

Could you describe your current cookie settings?
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
'''Which of these best matches what you have for your regular cookie setting?'''
    (1) "Firefox will: Remember history"
    (2) "Firefox will: Never remember history"
    (3) "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history" with either
    * "Keep until: they expire" AND "Clear history when Firefox closes" either
    ** Not checked <br>or
** In the corresponding Settings, NOT set to clear Cookies
    * "Keep until: I close Firefox" AND "Allow" exceptions set for the sites AND "Clear history when Firefox closes" either
    ** Not checked <br>or
** In the corresponding Settings, NOT set to clear Site Preferences
    * Neither of the above
'''Which setting do you have for third party cookies?'''

    (B) "Accept third party cookies: From visited"
    (C) "Accept third party cookies: Never"

  • After update, firefox doesn't load any site, not even home page. tried older version, same . what's wrong

auto update to FF5. no home page displayed(about blank), won't load any page from bookmarks. I un-installed and re-installed FF3.6. still won't load any web sites, bookmarked, homepage or others typed in. Chrome and IE still work so not connection or PC fault. I have tried changing proxy, and all other suggestions in your help pages, no effect.
