Everytime I start my iMac it opens several windows. I don´t know what to do to prevent this.
Everytime I start my iMac it opens several windows: Word, Excel, etc. I don´t know how to prevent this. I have to spend several minutes everytime closing 5 or 6 windows. I close everything before I sign out so I don´t know what to do. Please help.
In addition, OS X Lion includes a function referred to as Resume, where it will automatically re-open any app left running when the machine was shut down or restarted.
To prevent that from happening, you can uncheck the item in the shutdown or restart splash screen which refers to re-opening running apps. Unfortunately, this has to be done every time.
The alternative is to get in the habit of quitting all apps before shutting down or restarting.
Note that in the user's guide Apple suggests not shutting the machine down unless it will be unused for more than a few days. Not sure how many 'few' is in that context, but since I use mine every day I never shut it down (unless there's an electrcal storm in the area).

Thanks for trying, but I've done that. It matters not, I keep getting the same message about signing in with same account used to purchase it. I've had the same account since I bought the iMac. So, I'm stymied.

I recently reinstalled my iTunes, and it was working fine, but now everytime I try to open it up, the message "iTunes has stopped working" and it shuts down. I have uninstalled it, and reinstalled it many times. I donl't know what to do. If someone could help me that would be great, thanks!

When I open Facebook on my laptop - I suddenly get tab after tab of facebook opening .... no reason - no changes that I know of .... have tried several things with no positive results.
I'm running windows 7.Thank you for the reply - I did turn off the the facebook tool bar and reset everything in firefox to the default or 'ask me' mode. I was blaming apple, but you are probably correct about the tool bar - I don't think it is supported in my version of Firefox and had disappeared from sight...I didn't realize it was still there until I started going through all my options. Now I know how to stop it if it happens again.

I get the icon of firefox, when I open it, there is no possibility to install the new version.
You appear to be up-to-date in that your 'More system details' is showing as 4.0.1 with apparently the correct User Agent string.
What is the home page you are talking about and the advertised features: <br/>''search engine thing, and undernaeth advertises the pro's of having this upgrade''
<br/> paste the url from the location bar or a link into your message.
I do not use Windows 7, but maybe some of your accounts do not have correct privileges for upgrading, and maybe your differing accounts have different add-ons installed.
Possibly some of the customisations or extensions are hiding some features, for instance I note you have bing bar listed.
Check the versions of Firefox in each user account you have on Windows 7 using
* Firefox button -> Help -> About Firefox
* note possibly you may need to restart for changes to take effect
If all your accounts are up-to-date and you still get warnings to upgrade firefox look at :

First off, try a reset of the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, see if the problem persists.

Itunes on my PC displays an error message " This iphone cant be synced , you dont have enough privilege" everytime I start syncing thiss message shows up and everything stops. So , what to do now? even wifi sync isnt working and not able to sync files onto my iPhone.

Close iTunes, click the Start button > All Programs > iTunes folder > RIGHT CLICK iTunes Program icon > Select> Run as Administrator. -

I inherited an iMac, OS X 10.6.8. The Mail system is corrupted. I cannot close blank mail formats that opened to be written and sent. I just get an unpleasant noise when I try to close these. Also, I don't know what the outgoing mail link should be.

Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop for now...

Flash Player opens several windows and does not work. Uninstalled yesterday downloaded new rebooted and reinstalled. Same thing. Windows 7 Pro, Firefox 17.0.1 Usually leaves a blank window upper left on my desktop.

I don't know what has happened but I now can't open iphoto. I get a caution when I try which says the iphoto library is locked! It was working perfectly fine this afternoon until I tried to upload some photos from my camera and my computer started to run very slow and wasn't recognising my camera. I tried to quit iphoto and then when I came back in to it, this was the message I received. As far as I am aware I didn't alter any settings or put on any locks. Please help!!
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

My G RAID thunderbolt drive mounted just fine onto my iMac this morning. I copied some files from another drive onto the RAID drive, ejected it, and worked on another project for a few hours. When I went to mount the RAID drive again so I could work on the project associated with the drive (I'm a freelance video editor) it would not mount. I've tried everything. It boots up perfectly fine, the drive seems to have no hardware problems. It shows up on Disk Utility and in System Information but is listed as not mounted. I've verified it on Disk Utility and it tells me everything with the drive is fine. I've tried all the various restarting my iMac, ejecting and reconnecting the drive, shutting down the whole system and starting it back up, relaunching Finder, and nothing works. Starting to panic because this is a client's drive, I have no idea what the issue is, it worked perfectly fine only hours ago, nothing happened to it in the meantime, and I fear continuously connecting and ejecting it because I don't know what the state is with the data and if this is only going to further aggravate the problem. I've been up and down Apple and g-raid forums and can't get a straight answer anywhere. I need to know that the data is safe, the drive is undamaged, and how to get it to mount on my iMac. Can anyone out there help me with this??

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
