Excel formulas not calculating imported SSIS data

I have an SSIS package that exports data to a password protected worksheet.  The SSIS package works great and all the data is in the right cells.  However, some of the cells that are protected have formulas in them that do calculations the data
that has been imported.  The cells with formulas don't pick up the new data.  I have tried F9 and that doesn't work.  The only thing that works is to either re-enter the data manually or I can copy and paste the data right back into the same
cells and then the formula picks up the new data.
The client has specific formulas that they do not want to be changed.  Adding macros to the workbook is not allowed.
How can I get the formulas to pick up the imported data?
This is very frustrating.  I have spent the better part of 2 months converting data from MS ACCESS to SQL, built massive queries and put together a very nice SSIS package that does exactly what I want it to do, only to get stonewalled by Excel.

Leo,
Some of the cells in the worksheet are un-protected to allow users to enter in values, then the cell with the formula - which are protected - updates with the results of the formula.
For instance cell A1 is protected, cells B1 through F1 are un-protected.  Cell A1 has the formula =Sum(B1:F1)  if the user manually enters in the values 2, 2, 3, 2, 4 into cells B1, C1, D1, E1, & F1 respectively then cell A1 would update to
2, 2, 7, 9, 13 as the numbers get entered.
I am exporting data from a SQL table to Excel through SSIS.   So for example if I export the same values (2,2,3,2,4) to cells B1 through F1 and then open the Excel file, the values that were exported are in the correct cells, but the value in cell A1
is blank.
If I then select cells B1:F1 and do a copy and past, then the formula picks up the values, and does the calculation, showing 13.

  • Formulas not calculating

    Hello, <BR><BR>My teammates and I are using Hyperion Essbase Add-In for Excel v 6.5.5.0 with Excel 2002 SP3. We've got two ranges in a template that use formulas to specify the headers in our pull. One formula uses Excel's VLOOKUP function to retrieve a value, and the other formula simply points to another cell value on a different worksheet. When we retrieve the data, the formula pointing to the other cell value displays as the formula, not the value it refers to. The VLOOKUP formula is fine.<BR><BR>Essbase options are set to Mode = Formulas - Retain on Retrieval. Is there another option I need to change?<BR><BR>Thanks,<BR><BR>DJ

    Nevermind - I found the issue was actually a cell formatting issue with Excel - not the Hyperion Add-In. <BR><BR>DJ

  • Sp_getapplock script not working in SSIS(data tools 2012)

    Hi,
    I have a SSIS package created in 2012 data tools. I have added sql tasks to create and release the locks.
    Create the lock script in sql task1:
    DECLARE @ProcResult int = 0;
    -- Get an exclusive application lock on the package execution resource, to prevent other executions of the same package from doing the same
    EXEC @ProcResult = sp_getapplock @Resource ='a',
                                     @LockMode = 'Exclusive',
                                     @LockOwner = 'Session',
                                     @LockTimeout = 0; -- Do not wait for the lock
    IF @ProcResult < 0
        RAISERROR('Failed to acquire application lock on %s. sp_getapplock returned %d', 16, 1, @PackageResourceName, @ProcResult);
    Release the lock in sql task 2:
    DECLARE @ProcResult int = 0;
    -- Release a previously acquired exclusive application lock on the package execution resource
    EXEC @ProcResult = sp_releaseapplock @Resource ='a',
                                         @LockOwner = 'Session';
    IF @ProcResult < 0
        RAISERROR('Failed to release application lock on %s. sp_releaseapplock returned %d', 16, 1, @PackageResourceName, @ProcResult);
    When I ran this,  the release lock failing with the following error:
    [Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "DECLARE @ProcResult int = 0;
    -- Release a previou..." failed with the following error: "Cannot release the application lock (Database Principal: 'public', Resource: 'a') because it is not currently held.
    Failed to release application lock on a. sp_releaseapplock returned -999". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
    When I use the same above tasks with same scripts in data tools 2010 its working fine. Any thing wrong in 2012 Data tools?
    Please advice. Tx in advance
    Porus

    Hi Porus,
    May be you failed to release the lock from the 1st run, but
    SSDT 2012 should not be used to author SSIS 2012 packages.

  • Sum formula not calculating sum accurately

    Hie All,
    In my Webi report, I've included a sum formula (Sum[actual hours]) for both rows and columns. However, the total is inaccurate for some rows/columns. Any idea why this could happen and how to resolve the issue? Thanks.

    Hi Jeewan,
    You can try these but i'm not sure it will work:
    1. Try merge dimension on common objects.
    2. Try sum(sum([actual hours]))
    3. Instead of using formula you can use the sum function available in "Analysis -> Function -> Σ Sum"
    4. It can be due to the projection used at universe level for this you have to access the universe and check.
    5. Try dragging some compatible objects in object browser it might happens some times that data will not come correctly.
    6. last one (hit and try) check the filters once.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks,

  • Is it possibke to extract import data from excel file not csv type

    I am getting training from somebody, who is telling me the excel file has to be type csv only to extract and import the excel data for creating infoobjects, is that true.
    Please kindly provide steps, if any one has steps to extract the excel data while creating info object.
    I am going thru an excersise for creating info objects, but while brining the excel csv file data to info objects do i again need to create each field column and its attributes etc.
    Thank you all for the helpful info.

    Hi
    If you want to load data from excel to BW(Info Objects or data source), then file should be in excel format. to import the data system directly import it into excel sheet(normal one)
    to load the data you should have all values and attributes in your excel sheet which you have created in BW system.

  • Calculated Field formula not appearing in Power View Field List panel

    Hi,
    On Power View1 sheet of this
    workbook, the two PowerPivot calculated Field formulas (First Visit and First date of FY) are not appearing in the Power View Fields panel on the right hand side.
    I want to drag client and First Visit (calculated Field) to the Power View.
    Why is this happening?
    Regards, Ashish Mathur Microsoft Excel MVP www.ashishmathur.com

    I found a workaround for it - I was having the same problem as you. I wanted to display the last refresh date of my data, but Power View wouldn't display a date resulting from the [Last Refresh]=MAX(Date[Date]) formula.
    HOWEVER, a Pivot Table can handle that Calculated field just fine. So I renamed my measure "Refreshed Date" and added another tab in the Excel Sheet. I added a Pivot Table from PowerPivot into cell A1 and the only thing I put was that single
    measure (A2). To the right of that, I did =A2 and created an Excel Data Table. The title of that was "Last Refresh". Now, I could add that Data Table to the PowerPivot Model and into Power View. And then I hid that tab.
    The only downside to this method, is that if you're refreshing single tables at a time, you have to remember to refresh the Pivot Table when new data is added AND update the data in the model. I'm only connecting to one database, so I just choose
    "Refresh All" in Excel and it updates everything. It works perfectly! :)
    Well shoot, I even took a screenshot that helped explain everything, but it won't let me post it because my account isn't verified and it won't tell me how. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll clarify!

  • How to convert an Excel Formula to a Custom Calculation Script in a Adobe Acrobat 9 Form?

    Hello,
    I am not familiar whatsoever with Javascript and need some help in converting the following Excel Formula so that I can enter it into a Custom Calculation Script in a Adobe PDF Form. Here is the formula:
    =IF(E15<25.01,9.95,IF(E15<50.01,11.95,IF(E15<75.01,13.95,IF(E15<100.01,16.95,IF(E15<150.01 ,19.95,IF(E15<200.01,24.95,IF(E15>200.00,E15*0.125)))))))
    Where "E15" will be the text field named "Subtotal" on my Adobe PDF Form.
    Thank you for any help you can provide!

    Fortunately JavaScript has the 'switch' statement so nested if statements can be avoided.
    var E15 = this.getField("Subtotal").value;
    switch(true) {
    case (E15 < 25.01) :
    event.value = 9.95;
    break;
    case (E15 < 50.01) :
    event.value = 11.95;
    break;
    case (E15 < 75.01) :
    event.value = 13.95;13
    break;
    case (E15 < 100.01) :
    event.value = 16.95;
    break;
    case (E15 < 150.01) :
    event.value = 19.95;
    break;
    case (E15 < 200.01) :
    event.value = 24.95;
    break;
    case (E15 > 200) :
    event.value = E15 * 0.125;
    break;
    default:
    event.value = "";
    break;
    } // end switch;

  • How do I import the data from Excel (.xls) file into Oracle Database table

    I have an excel file with 5 columns of 5000 rows.
    I have to import 5000 rows of data into my oracle table with
    same column names & Data types.
    What is the best advise for this ?
    Thanks.
    Srini

    You can connect to Oracle from Excel directly. I know you can read data but am not sure if you can export data.
    Other option is to import the data into Access.
    Create an ODBC connection for Oracle
    Use the to connect to Oracle from Access
    Export data to Oracle from Access

  • Character problem in toad import table data from excel

    Hi everybody,
    I want to import data from an excel file to an Oracle table, so I'm using Toad's "Import Table Data" tool for this purpose.
    The problem is Oracle doesn't import non-english characters properly.
    My database is XE and character set is 'AL32UTF8'.
    I searched web, but didn't find the solution.
    Please help...

    Hi again,
    Thank you for your reply Srini, but it is not about Toad.
    Character encoding of Excel causes the problem.
    I exported an unicode encoded csv file from excel and tried to load data from that file. It worked.
    Thanks.

  • Import HL7 data in sql server using ssis

    Could I know how to import HL7 data in sql server using ssis.
    I am not aware of any .NET code.
    Could someone provide me with any kind of custom code so I can try to understand and use it to my specifications.
    Thanks
    Latha

    As COZYROC said, HL7 is a type of EDI file. There is nothing built into SQL Server to handle this type of parsing.  You will either need to buy something or write your own, which I do not recommend because it is much more difficult than you imagine.
    You can use BizTalk to parse the data into an XML format which can then be processed by SQL Server.

  • I need to get SSIS Data profiler output in Excel.

    Hi,
    I need to get SSIS Data profiler output in Excel. Tried importing XML generated by SSIS Profiler in Excel but data is getting lost. Can anybody please help on this.
    Thanks,
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
    The Data Profiling task outputs the selected profiles into XML file. We can specify the result to any extensions of file, the generated file is valid for the built-in Profile Viewer but invalid for other file viewer applications. So when we specify the output
    to Excel file, we can export the excel file and make analyzing without any problems through the Profile Viewer. But when we use Microsoft Excel open it, it says ‘The file format and extension of’’ don’t match’, then it needs us select one option to open the
    XML file. So we cannot directly export Data Profiling task outputs to Excel file.
    If we still want to export Data profiling task outputs to Excel, we can use the XML Source to extract data from the generated XML file, and then export it to Excel destination in a Data Flow Task.

  • Importing form data into Excel

    I am doing a survey in Dreamweaver for a client. He wants the
    data sent to him in an email, and he wants the data exported into
    an Excel file for him to analyze. Does anyone know how to do this,
    or where I should start? Cold Fusion? I'm not a developer, I know
    just enough to be dangerous! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    >How is a csv file created?
    It's pretty simple code - in asp using the FSO to write the
    form contents to a text file on the server in csv format. When a
    form is submitted, I just append the content to a new line in the
    file.
    >How would the excel document be linked?
    You can create a web query in Excel from the Data menu, the
    Import External Data, then new web query. Your menu options may be
    different depending on which version you have. Once the query is
    defined and the sheet is saved, you can simply open it and click
    refresh data and the contents of the file will be
    transferred.

  • Not enough space on my new SSD drive to import my data from time machine backup, how can I import my latest backup minus some big files?

    I just got a new 256GB SSD drive for my mac, I want to import my data from time machine backup, but its larger than 256GB since it used to be on my old optical drive. How can I import my latest backup keeping out some big files on the external drive?

    Hello Salemr,
    When you restore from a Time Machine back up, you can tell it to not transfer folders like Desktop, Documents. Downloads, Movies, Music, Pictures and Public. Take a look at the article below for the steps to restore from your back up.

  • Comments not imported from Data Dictionary of SQL Server. SDDM 3.3.0.747

    Hi,
    SDDM 3.3.0.747 32-bit on Windows 7 64-bit.
    Comments are not imported from Data Dictionary of SQL Server 2008. Connection through Microsoft JDBC Driver 4.0 for SQL Server or jTDS 1.2.7
    What I have tried? In SDDM DDL generation, Comments in DBRMS for SQL Server are generated with "EXEC sp_addextendedproperty 'MS_Description' , 'Test Comment' ..." so I added extended property named "MS_Description" into SQL Server database, both on table and column. None of them were imported from Data Dictionary into SSDM. I have tried both drivers stated above. Is it a bug or am I missing something?
    I've found similar question thread Re: Data dictionary import doesn't import column comments for SDDM 3.0.0.665, so I guess it is a bug when importing with JDBC drivers.

    Extended properties were not imported correctly from SQLServer databases at DM 3.3.0.747.
    Calls to sp_addextendedproperty and fn_listextendedproperty have been modified.
    I don't think it is a problem with JDBC drivers.
    A bug fix should be available in the next release of DM.

    I am not sure if Data Modeller is still in Beta./Production. First couple off initial versions of a new product are normally buggy.

    Alternatively, If this product is still in Beta, then you can contact the development team or report the issue so that they can take care of this issue in next beta release.
