Excel Issues around BPC

All
Do you face problems in running normal excel functions mid way through processing BPC reports? There are problems such as:
1. Member selector stops working - there is a note for that (2098838)
2. Issues in EPM Add in - there is a note for that too (2107965)
(Just mentioning the two above since I have looked at these and still the issues continue)
I am not referring to these two. My problems are:
Scenario A - I log on to BPC; open up reports and refresh. After a few refreshes/save data operations, my cursor in excel will stop responding to excel functions. For example, I cannot type in a cell, unless I go to the excel cell context. I cannot right click for functions such as copy, paste etc.
My only recourse is to shut down the excel session and start over again.
Scenario B - Open a report; refresh. Run a Ctrl+F to find a cell. It works. Then run an Excel data filter in the columns. I filter out certain rows and try Ctrl+F again. It doesnt work. The value I am looking for is within the filter (I can see it) but the excel find feature doesnt work.
Any ideas on these wierd problems? Users can work around them, but they tend to be very annoying and disrupt the user experience.

  • Download data from ALV to excel issue

    Hi All,
Could you please tell me if there has any restriction on ALV grid data download to excel? I've a report contains 68 columns and about 500 rows, I want to download the data using the standard menu list->export->save to local file. but after I download them, I found the first 65 columns display in one line and the rest columns display in next line, just like ALV do not allow too many characters in one row and have to switch to new line. I can hide some columns but it's very strange that even after i hide 3 columns to fit the 500 rows download, then if the rows increase, the same problem occurs.
I searched the forum and in the thread Re: Export ALV in EXCEL Issue Mr. Suvajit provided a solution by using menu List->export->spreadsheet, it looks very good. But I still want to know how this happen and is there a standard way to download data with more than 65 columns to local file with extension .xls so that user can open it directly?
PS: I'm using FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY and the SAP version is SAP ECC6 with kernal package SAPKB70103.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi Jeff,
Please check if following analysis is helpful to you.
    Analysis/Solution:
When we export ALV data to excel worksheet, as sap notes say the maximum lenght allowed is 1023 charaters and the max no of columns supported is 90.
(I never faced any issue related to no of columns as it worked fine for columns >90 too)
Issue occured when row size of exported data gets more than 1023 character.
Therefore the row data must not exceed 1023 character, otherwise column splits and moves to next row.
One additional aspect generally missed is that:
When data in any particular column changes it's length, alv header also changes its lengh (short text, medium text, long text; depending on the length of of the longest cell in the column)
therefore even if you have total length of row less than 1023 character, there might be cases when your ALV header size exceeds this length.
Reducing the header size (by forcing to use short text or specifying own header names) should resolve the issue.

  • BPC 7.5 NW Processing Dimensions Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excell issue

    Hi
I've tried all the downloads (service Packs, Interop Files etc) mentioned in all websites and posts to try and fix following error:
"Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel_Application'. This Opperation failed because the Query Interface call on the COM component for the interface with ID '{000208D5-0000-0000-C000-0000000000046}' failed due to the following error: Library not registered.
I get this only when I try to Process a dimension
Please can anyone tell me how to fix this?
We have installed BPC 7.5 NW
I had Office 2010 and could process but my input schedules didn't work 100% on Office 2007 so I had to go back to 2007. And now I can't process in the Admin Client. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office and BPC 7.5 NW SP07 a few times to try and solve this but no luck.
    Thanks
    Johan Fourie

    Hi,
If you are using excel 2007, you need to install the redistributable primary interop assembly from the below link:
    https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/sno/ui_entry/entry.htm?param=69765F6D6F64653D3030312669765F7361706E6F7465735F6E756D6265723D3134363332383926

  • Issue whith action pane when using BPC for excel in Spanish - BPC 7.5 NW

    Hi experts,
We just migrated from BPC NW 7.0 to BPC NW 7.5 and we are having a situation with our BPC for excel client now that if we open it with an english instalation everything is ok but if one client with a spanish instalation opens BPC for Excel, the action pane is empty. On 7.0 version everythng worked ok on spanish. Any idea of how to solve it?
    Thanks in advance.

Please note that the best practice is to use one language. However, if a number of languages must be used the following solutions may be applied:
If you want end-users to see the very same descriptions in various languages, you may copy the descriptions from one language over to another in BPC Admin Client.
If you want them to see native descriptions in the language the end-user is logged on under, you may log on to BPC Admin Client in the language(spanish) the descriptions are missing for and enter them. Do not forget to process the dimension. Refresh dimension members on client side and process all the dimensions. Now, English descriptions are seen under English and Spanish  under Spanish anit is the way it works because SAP has description against EN language only and not spanish
See the notes 1552856 and 1613170 which would be helpful. Thanks.

  • Download to excel issue.

    Hi All,
When I download a report to excel, one of my percent field with one decimal place, is increased to two decimal places in excel.
does anyone of a work around or a fix to this issue?
    Thanks

Checking the Oracle bug database there are the following bugs/enhancements logged that sounds relevant and some workarounds we can try:
Bug 865450 DOWNLOAD TO EXCEL ALWAYS OPENS AS HTML FILE
Bug 5592823 EXCEL DOWNLOAD TREATED AS HTML FILE BY MOZILLA FIREFOX 1.5
Enh 6906146 DOWNLOAD TO EXCEL 2000 OUTPUT SHOULD BE EXCEL FORMAT NOT HTML
    Workarounds:
    (1) If your server is Tomcat
    (From bug log...)
The real issue is IE fails to to detect the file type correctly in some cases
in absence of proper MIME headers from the Tomcat servers especially on
    Linux.
    The fix is to
Add a mime-mapping in tomcat/conf/web.xml. Under the section
    Default MIME Type Mappings
Restart tomcat and delete temporary internet files from IE
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>xls</extension>
    <mime-type>application/octet-stream</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    (2) Switch browser to Firefox instead of IE. This sounds drastic but reading the bug logs it appears that Firefox will ask you what to use to open the file the first time it is used via Download to Excel - and at this point you can choose Excel and ask it to remember that decision.
Let me know if any of this useful. If not I'll drill further and see if I can dig up a better workaround.

  • Login realted issues in BPC Office

    Experts
We are facing a typical error that unable to login BPC excel.
Though I was able to login into BPC and create appsets, I am facing this error.
Our installation team also checked and confirmed that every thing is fine.
    Any clues?
    Maneesh

    Hi Maneesh
If am not wrong you should have faced with this error:
'The system cannot connect to the server. There may be a network or security issue' a...................................'
If this is the case, then follow these steps:
    1. Create a user ID on your machine with local admin rights and try loggin in. If you do not face this error at this time then the problem is with your domain.
Ask your Tech team to create a separate DL and add that to your company domain.
In other words add your company domain to the BPC server.

  • Excel issues with importing CSV or HTML table data from URL - Sharepoint? Office365?

    Greetings,
We have a client who is having issues importing CSV or HTML table data as one would do using Excel's Web Query import from a reporting application.  As the error message provided by Excel is unhelpful I'm reaching out to anyone who can help us begin to
troubleshoot problems affecting what is normal standard Excel functionality.  I'd attach the error screenshot, but I can't because my account is not verified....needless to say it says "Microsoft Excel cannot access  the file https://www.avantalytics.com/reporting_handler?func=wquery&format=csv&logid=XXXX&key=MD5
Where XXXX is a number and MD5 is an md5 code.  The symptoms stated in the error message are:
    - the file name or path does not exist
-The file is being used by another program
-The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.
None of these symptoms are the case, naturally. The user encountered this with Excel2010, she was then upgraded to Excel2013 and is still experiencing the same issue. The output of this URL in a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox) is CSV data for the affected
user, so it is not a network connectivity issue.  In our testing environment using both Excel2010 or 2013 this file is imported successfully, so we cannot replicate.  The main difference I can determine between our test environment and the end-user
is they have a Sharepoint installation and appear to have Office365 as well.
So,  my question might more appropriately be for Sharepoint or Office365 folks, but I can't be sure they're  a culprit.  Given this - does anyone have any knowledge of issues which might cause this with Sharepoint or Office365 integrated with
Excel and/or have suggestions for getting more information from Excel or Windows other than this error message?  I've added the domain name as a trusted publisher in IE as I thought that might be the issue, but that hasn't solved anything.  As you
can see its already https and there is no authentication or login - the md5 key is the authentication.  The certificate for the application endpoint is valid and registered via GoDaddy CA.
I'm at a loss and would love some suggestions on things to check/try.
    Thanks  -Ross

    Hi Ross,
    >> In our testing environment using both Excel 2010 and 2013 this file is imported successfully, so we cannot replicate.
I suspect it is caused by the difference of web server security settings.

  • IOS 8.1 Excel % Issue

    Hi Applemates,
With the update to 8.1 (from 7.1) on my iPhone & iPad, I am having issues reading my Excel reports that come through mails.
The issue is the % numbers are shown incorrectly. E.g. 39% is shown as 0%, 90% is shown as 1% and 200% is shown as 2%.
However, the same report when opened from my PC (not Mac) shows the % values correctly.
Also before the update to 8.1, they were showing correctly on my iPhone/iPad too.
There are no special apps that I use to read the Excel attachments, it is the standard mail add-on.
Is anyone else facing similar issues. I am in a sort of fix here, as everyone where I work are facing this issue,
and I am the support engineer for business users, so need to fix this !!
    Thanks,
    SPaddhu

This may not help, but just in case you aren't aware, Microsoft just announced a new more powerful version of Excel (and other Office apps) for iPhone & iPad and it is free.

  • Export to Excel Issues

We just upgraded from Crystal 8.5 to Crystal 10.  When we export to Excel, the formatting is terrible.  We have close to 100 reports that we routinely export...some with 40,000 rows.  To try to fix these once they're in Excel is out of the question.
In previous threads I've been reading about a "patch" that supposedly fixes this.  Where can I download this?
    Eric Hill

The way reports work and export changed significantly in CR 9. While there was a dll available to help move from CR 8.x to CR 9, that dll is no longer available. Not for CR 9, nor any other versions of CR. Instead, you will have to modify your reports as per the article [Crystal Reports Designer Version 10 Exporting to Microsoft Excel|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10d3ba69-951e-2b10-3093-e3cf287a57c9?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true].
No other work-arounds or options exist at this time.

  • Export to excel issue

    Hi All,
Kindly help me in solving this issue.
Portals report layouts can be customized. When the user chooses to export
the customized reports to Excel, only the standard layout (hard coded
layout for each report) is exported to Excel and all the customized columns
    are not exported.
C&RM is planning to use the portals aging report for performance metrics,
collection and identifying the over 90 items for collection rep. The
standard layout for the portals aging report is missing the BP# and
    Collection rep name.
Choosing right click, select all and copying to Excel, the format of the
    report is lost.
Herewith I am attaching the code which needs modification.

      //@@begin javadoc:wdDoModifyView
Hook method called to modify a view just before rendering.
This method conceptually belongs to the view itself, not to the
    controller (cf. MVC pattern).
It is made static to discourage a way of programming that
routinely stores references to UI elements in instance fields
for access by the view controller's event handlers, and so on.
The Web Dynpro programming model recommends that UI elements can
only be accessed by code executed within the call to this hook method.
@param wdThis Generated private interface of the view's controller, as
provided by Web Dynpro. Provides access to the view controller's
           outgoing controller usages, etc.
@param wdContext Generated interface of the view's context, as provided
by Web Dynpro. Provides access to the view's data.
@param view The view's generic API, as provided by Web Dynpro.
           Provides access to UI elements.
@param firstTime Indicates whether the hook is called for the first time
during the lifetime of the view.

Hi, I finally found the issue which was causing the numbers stored in text format issue. While exporting data to Excel programatically if any of the cells precede with a special character like -. = etc.. the data which is exported after that starts behaving in a peculiar way. So removal of any such special characters resolves the issue.
    Hope this helps..

  • Web App Designer Export to Excel - Issue

    Hi Gurus,
I was able to sucessfully configure export to excel feature in WAD. However the issue we are encountering is, we have a button which runs a script function, this manupulates data in some columns of the report. So when I perform export to excel after the script function is excuted, the export gets the old state of data and not the data after the script function is run. Is there are way to fix this issue. Please advise.
    Thanks Again!

    Dear Customer,
WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) is not supported on Export to Excel.
If you are using some script AFTER data comes to screen, you will NOT see the effects on Excel.
This is documented in the note:
1178857 - Additional information: Export to Excel functions
    " Layout
o  Currently WYSIWYG export is not supported.
Sorry to not provide a better solution.
    Best regards,
    Edward John

  • Project Pro 2013 client Deployment with Lync 2010 and Team Explorer Excel Issues Following

    Current machines are Office 2010 SP1 or SP2 32-bit
Just deployed Project 2013 Pro and Std to the existing machines that had Project 2010 Pro or Std.  We selected the full install since people use integration into different tools.
    Results:
lync 2010 64-bit when attending a meeting prompted user to start using and download the Lync Web Component, which breaks features such as muting, etc.
A repair sent to the workstations for Lync 2010 64-bit fixed that.
Team Explorer 2012 Export to excel from queries gives error Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Application'. This operation failed because
the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{000208D5-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: The interface is unknown. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706B5).
Repair of Team Explorer, Office, Test Manager 2012, etc did not assist.  if we go into excel and connect to TFS, we can then retrieve the query data.  Just not from TFS exporting to excel.  Had to unload Project 2013, repair Office 2010
and rebooted with project off the machine and now it works.   It seems maybe the setup with the shared features and Office tools are breaking something?  We need the ability for VBA and .net functionality, but what could be breaking this?

    Hi,
Your environment will support 32 bit of Project professional 2013 (x86) as you have Windows and Office of (X86).
You try to modify registry then you wont face issue.
The issue when you hit a "1653" is that Windows
Installer "DisableRollback" is set. Office 2013 requires that "rollback" be enabled. If you are getting a "1653"
error in your logs as Ken did then the solution is to delete the "DisableRollback" (or set to '0') at the following registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
these are the issues I've seen:
Scheduler service was stopped. At a cmd window typing "net start schedule" resolves the problem.
CMD.exe was customized via the following registry key. Solution was to temporarily disable the customization by changing autorun value to autorun_old.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Command Processor
Permission issues - seems some custom permissions affected Ingram's install which he explained in his previous post.
Environment variable "ComSpec" had been modified (semicolon added). Fix was to remove the added semicolon (there should be no semicolon).
The way to identify you are hitting this specific issue is if in the %temp%\OfficeSetup.log there is a mention of "Office64MUI.msi" failing to install with return value of 1603
If you want to enable verbose logging via the following key, rerun your failed install, and collect all the setup and MSI* logs that will give more information.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer]
    "logging"= "voicewarmup"

  • Performance Issue with BPC MS 7.0

We are receiving error: "The underlying connection was closed:Unable to connect to the remote server.", when we optimize the application  or full processing the dimension. But, according to the TblLogs file the full optimizations are completing successfully although the client side error is received.
In Pre prod, when we tried to do all the above activities without citrix i.e., through the client installed on Server , we have not faced any hassels. It went fine. We are about to implement this in the Prod to isolate the issue. Problem while accessing the app through Citrix.
SAP also recommends to review the configuration of your Network Load Balanced (NLB) environment (WEB01) or Citrix deployment of BPC. But our teams says, everything is fine from their point. There is no flaw observed.
Paralelly, we have Increased Connection Time out levels @ IIS server level. Earlier it was 600 , we made it as 1200. Did Tbl logs table cleared. We have increased Time out Settings at DB level and OLAP level also as recommended by SAP. But no change in the error.
Any clue, what could be the reason for this after having the detailed investigation on the error as mentioned above.
This is so urgent, almost 150 users are getting effected.
Your immediate help would be appreciated.
FYI, we are using  BPC MS 7.0 SP12 and SQl Server 2008.
    Many Thanks

    Hi Naga Jyothi,
this is a microsoft error message, there is probably an error on IIS settings or .NET.
If you filter the search on MS site you will found a lot of relevant threads, e.g. see
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915599
(remember to check with your .NET framework)
