EXCEPTION ACCESS VIOLATION in jsoundds.dll on Windows XP (Home | Pro)

We've been getting this error for a long time now and we have no idea how to fix it, debug it, or avoid it.
Any help or ideas that anyone could give would be great.
Thanks in advance

Lets see. I wrote the application. It's an application that receives audio data over a socket connection to a server. This happens seemingly randomly, no real pattern has yet emerged. Or at least none we've been able to discern from our testing and our user testing. The application rapidly plays audio chunks sent to it from the socket, so it's using the audio device heavily. It also runs for many days at a time without restarting. Normally used during regular business hours constantly (approx. 14 hours / day, 84 hours / week). We've had this problem for quite some time and it has persisted over various JVM upgrades.
Thanks for the help

  • Access violation in jvm.dll

    I have a web based application that opens PDFs in an Interet Explorer 7 browser window. Users are experiencing IE crashes when attempting to open some files. The same file will not crash every time so difficult to reproduce. I captured a crash dump using MS utility Debug Diagnostic Tool and Microsoft provided the below analysis. MS has requested a case be opened with Oracle since they do not have the proper symbols to debug any further. Oracle directed me to ww.java.com where no phone support is available so I am seeing if this forum can assist.

    Well, to start, you are aware that Win2003 and IE7 are very old and generally speaking probably no longer supported by Microsoft (unless you have extended support)? I bring this up not because I care that you are using software that is 10 years old, but because it is important to realize that at some point old software and new software simply won't play well together.
    I would suggest you do the following:
    1. Close ALL open browser and uninstall ALL installed JRE versions
    2. If you are using Adobe Acrobat Reader to open your pdf files, uninstall it.

  • RWRBE60.exe has generated an exception: access violation

    I have a user who uses Oracle report called from a form. Several times a day she reports that she get a Dr. Watson application error saying that RWRBE60.exe has generated an exception: access violation when she invokes the report runtime (while running the report not printing it). She is running Windows NT Version 4.0, SP 6; She has 256K memory. She is running Forms 6.0.5.0.2 and Oracle Report 6.0.5.28.0. Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Anandhi

    I've got a similar problem. I'm running windows xp and reports 6.0.8.22 including Patch 13. I don't get the same error, but the RWRBE60.exe stops with a problem. That only occurs by using reports where the parameters are variable and only by the second time I call such a report. If I close the RWRBE60.exe after the first report that probem doesn't occur. Maybe you could check, whether the problem doesn't occur if you close RWRBE60.exe between two reports.

  • 0xC0000005 Access Violation in cvirte.dll (SetWindowsErrorMode?)

    Hello,
    We will occasionally see a crash with our CVI LabWindows based 2010 SP1 application, a 0xC0000005 Access Violation exception thrown from within cvirte.dll. The app is working primarily from a spawned thread when the crash occurs. I've been able to get it consistently on a Win7 x64 VirtualBox VM and have some data that may be of use if someone there would like to investigate.
    When I track down the location of the instruction pointer (work below) it seems to be in the "SetWindowsErrorMode()" function (at least going by the exports in DependencyWalker):
    1. The IP is 0x687B5F1C at the time of the crash.
    2. The base module address for cvirte.dll is 0x68420000, so the IP is 0x395F1C bytes into the DLL.
    3. Using DependencyWalker on cvirte.dll and sorting by entry point indicates that the IP is inside of "SetWindowsErrorMode()" at 0x003938D0, which comes before "MinimizeAllWindows()" at 0x003984B0.
    Coincidentally, this crash happens in CVI 2013 F1 as well, the offset within "SetWindowsErrorMode()" is a bit different (0x264C past entry in 2010 SP1, 0x2D0C past entry in 2013), but locally the code looks the same in my VS2010 disassembler:
    CVI2010 SP1

    I have dump files (mini, or mini+heap) for both builds if it would help.
    This bug seems semi-similar to the thread "Is InstallPopup not threadsafe?":
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI/Is-InstallPopup-not-threadsafe/m-p/716822/highlight/true#M359...
    Just for posterity, I'll add the data for the 2013 build. IP is 0x687CA2CC, DLL Module address is 0x68420000-0x68A28000, so offset is 0x3AA2CC. "SetWindowsErrorMode()" enters at 0x003A75C0 in this dll, and "MinimizeAllWindows()" is at 0x003ACB20.
    Thanks-

    Hi Kelsey,
    Apologies for the long response time, I didn't receive a notification for your post.
    > What does your application do?
    Our application is used in this context to setup and run our vehicle simulations on a Windows based PC.
    > And, what is it doing at the time of the crash?
    At the time of the crash a simulation is being launched and run on another thread from the default thread pool like this:
    CmtScheduleThreadPoolFunctionAdv (DEFAULT_THREAD_POOL_HANDLE,
        sRun,
        NULL,
        THREAD_PRIORITY_NORMAL,
        NULL,
        EVENT_TP_THREAD_FUNCTION_END,
        NULL,
        RUN_IN_SCHEDULED_THREAD,
        &sThreadFuncId);
    That spawned thread will load a simulation DLL, read some data as input, run the simulation, output the results, then close the DLL.
    As I noted earlier, I couldn't get it to happen on my desktop, but I could get it on the VM when I used a very slow storage device for the I/O of the simulation (a slow thumb drive attached to the VM). My boss was seeing the issue on his virtualized PC on his Mac, typically only when he used a slower storage device as well (network storage for example).
    > When you reproduce this issue in 2010 and 2013 f1, are you using the same computer or using different machines?
    Both of these crash dumps were produced on the virtual machine as described.
    > For each dump file, which version of LabWindows/CVI were you running? You can find the version number by selecting Help»About LabWindows/CVI within LabWindows/CVI. Which version of cvirte.dll do you have? This will be located in System32 and/or SysWOW64.
    The development environment installed was CVI 2010 SP1. So the 2010 dump was just using the runtimes bundled with that installation. I then installed the 2013 F1 runtimes to see if the same issue persisted.
    It's possible I did a clean install with the 2013 F1 dev environment, I will double check this tomorrow when I have access to the virtual machine.
    Thanks for looking into this--

  • Access violation with iisforward.dll

    I am trying to connect to weblogic through iis4.0. Have installed the iis plugin correctly. I can proxy by extension correctly but need proxying by path. When i register the isapi filter iisforward.dll, I get a access violation and the inetinfo.exe crashes. What can be the problem here?config: NT4.0 / WL5.1SP6 / IIS 4.0No other isapi plugins used.

    3. Ensure that you have installed all of the latest Windows (Microsoft) updates which are available. This can be determined by going to the Microsoft Update page. Here is the URL:
    http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx
    4. If any updates are installed, reboot regardless of the instructions provided by the update.
    5. After rebooting, install the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe.com website.

    If the problem continues to reproduce, I would recommend you do some basic troubleshooting and ask youself some obvious questions. For example:

  • Access Violation in NIPALU.DLL

    When using Traditional NIDAQ in Visual C++ 6, I get an Access Violation exception whenever I run any NIDAQ code. Even the examples cause them from time to time.
    It always occurs in pairs (that is, the same exception gets thrown twice in a row) and seems to happen most inside of Init_DA_Brds and Get_DAQ_Device_Info. I set a breakpoint on those functions and there is no exception, step over them and the access violations appear.
    What's causing this and how can I make it stop?
    "First-chance exception in --- (NIPALU.DLL): 0xC0000005: Access Violation."

    Hello Matt,
    I believe that the problem you are experiencing is documented in this Knowledge Base article. The article includes several steps for troubleshooting this issue.
    If this does not resolve your issue or you believe your error condition is not covered by the article, please reply with the results of the additional steps.

  • Access violation in ORAGENERIC8.dll

    We are seeing an intermittent access violation arising in ORAGENERIC8.dll when running a Window ISAPI web app from IIS. We're not familiar with this DLL but assume its part of the Oracle8i client. Our app seems perfectly healthy until this AV suddenly pops up--no pattern as to load, duration of processing, etc. Alert logs are clean. Any tips or thoughts? We're stumped!

  • Access violation in 'ORA805.dll'

    hi,
    when i'm connecting to the database the TOAD prompts an error message.
    Access violation at address 67614564 in module 'ORA805.dll'. Write of address 00000160
    im using TOAD v9.0 and Oracle 9i.. i also try to uninstall the TOAD v9.0 and install TOAD v8.5 but it also generates error..
    thanks..

    Hi,
    even this tread already long long time ago... may be can give some solution for other person who have some problems now or in the future... :)
    I try install oracle 10g database with character set AL32UTF8, and once finish configure the database I also encounter the same problems when try connect using toad 8, using client form6i,
    the soultion is trying upgrade the oracle client at your computer, like 9i client and above, and that problems will be solve.
    there is also other option that you can do, which is reinstall the database using other character set, I try install a new one, same database 10gR2 but the character set is WE8ISO8859P1, even still use the old client I can connect using TOAD 8 using form 6i client without any problems.... :)
    since I'm not that an expert and only the beginner in using oracle, I'm not that sure what is the cause of that problems if the character set we use is AL32UTF8... may be someone or anyone who know can explain more?

  • Exception access violation using jlong instead of jint

    Hi,
    I hope you can help me.
    I'm using Java5 under Windows XP and I'm developing under Eclipse.
    I try to use an "old" c-Application accesed via JNI.
    Status Quo is that, I have access to the c-side, over my JNI-conform DLL. My current task is to translate the c-side structs to java-objects. This also works, but only with limitation.
    Calling methods bidirectional is working, manipulation a java-object is like a walk on an warm and sunny Saturday afternoon.
    But I'm not able to use all possible parameters (for now I have tried to use jobject, jstring, jint, jboolean, jlong).
    The first problem I had, were using Strings as parameters, but this now I deal with the loopway over java/lang/object (using java/lang/String results in an access_violation).
    The next problem, and the harder one, is, that I cannot use the type long or jlong.
    int (jint) is no problem, with int all works fine, but if I change the environment, creating and using long, I allways get an the access_violation shown below.
    Is there anything, I need to know?
    working c-side-code:
    jobject someObject;
    jint anIntegerValue;
    anIntegerValue =5;
    jmethodID mid3 = (*env)->GetMethodID(env, cl, "initReturnSomeObject", "(ILjava/lang/Object;)Ljava/lang/Object;");
                   if(mid3 == (jmethodID)0) printf("\ndooofes MethodName4!\n");
                             else {
                                  const char* myParams;
                                  myParams = "ooooohwow!!!";
                                  someObject = (*env)->CallObjectMethod(env, jobj, mid3,
                                             anIntegerValue, (*env)->NewStringUTF(env, myParams));
                             }wokring java-side-code
    public Object initReturnSomeObject(int i, Object obj) {
              String s = (String)obj;
              System.out.println("String: "+s+"\nInteger: "+i);
              some = new SomeObject(s,i);
              if(some==null) System.out.println("Some is not yet initialized, FEAR!!!!\n");
              else System.out.println("Yoh, I'm soooo many good!! \nSome:\nString: "+some.getS1()+"\nInt: "+some.getI1()+"\n");
              return (Object)some;
    so, und this code, doesn't work. you can see, the changes are dramatically!! ;)
    sorry for my sarcasm. I do not know, why it doesn't work.
    jlong aLongValue;
    aLongValue = 2;
    jmethodID mid3 = (*env)->GetMethodID(env, cl, "initReturnSomeObject", "(JLjava/lang/Object;)Ljava/lang/Object;");
                   if(mid3 == (jmethodID)0) printf("\ndooofes MethodName4!\n");

                                     myParams = "ooooohwow!!!";
                                  someObject = (*env)->CallObjectMethod(env, jobj, mid3,
                                            aLongValue, (*env)->NewStringUTF(env, myParams));
         public Object initReturnSomeObject(long i, Object obj) {
              String s = (String)obj;
              System.out.println("String: "+s+"\nInteger: "+i+"\nLong: ");
              some = new SomeObject(s,(int)i);
              if(some==null) System.out.println("Some is not yet initialized, FEAR!!!!\n");
              else System.out.println("Yoh, I'm soooo many good!! \nSome:\nString: "+some.getS1()+"\nInt: "+some.getI1()+"\n");

    Hi,
    I'm quite sure, the signature is correct. For failure check, yesterday I ran javap to check the signature, but I do also mean, that I changed the signature afterwards for several time. And, it works ;) at least the way, using Integer.
    Trying to use java/lang/String everytime I got the Error, that the method could not be found - this is the part, I was wrong in my description. So the error-Message is a different one.
    Belonging to the question for assumptions I made... it's difficult. I'm quite new to JNI, so, I don't know, what I can assume to do. The Method call seems to be a kind of reflection-mechanism. So I assume that the behaviour is similar. But reflection I'm not very firm, either ^^.
    What I do assume is, that the parameter-value J fits to the java-type jlong. But a work around on this, I will try today. getting the jlong into an char* or using long instead of jlong or using Ljava/lang/Long; or a casted Long as Ljava/lang/Object; ...
    I'm anxious to the ideas, I will have, bypassing this point. if there is no way, I will write a file, send a email or something like this ;)
    Thx for thinking about my problem jschel!! It's great not to be alone.

    Does anyone have a clue what is the cause of this error? For the first time I thought that there is a problem with the 64 bit environment, but if this would be the case the applets should not be working as administrator too. As non priviledged user the error occures on ANY java applet so I think there must be a general problem.
    Regards,
    Sebastian

    I decided that even if I found the update, another could easily break it. I instead downloaded and installed the Early Access JRE ( 1.6.0_10-ea ) located at https://jdk6.dev.java.net/6uNea.html. It resolved the problem, and all other applications have tested okay with it. I figured I am at risk either way, so I might as well move forward knowing it will become more stable, than step back and create security holes in the OS.

  • Java Native Interface Exception Access Violation

    Ok i have two programs One that works and one that dosn't
    the one that works is a javaMethod that calls a C method. the C method then uses a callsback on a java method that returns an array of integers. that works fine
    the Second program uses the same c side code and the same Java Methods from the original are implemented into a program i have that runs a Jframe. anyways when i run this program the Native side does all of its tasks but when its done it crashes Evrything
    here is the Native Code
    #include <jni.h>
    #include "MyNativeInterface.h"
    #include <stdio.h>
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL
    Java_MyNativeInterface_sayHello(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj)
    printf("Hello world!\n");
    return;
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL
    Java_MyNativeInterface_nativeMethod(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj)
    jintArray arr;
         jint len;
         int *carr;
         int i;
    jclass cls = (*env)->GetObjectClass(env, obj);
    jmethodID mid =
    (*env)->GetMethodID(env, cls, "callback", "()[I");
    if (mid == NULL) {
    return; /* method not found */
    printf("In C\n");
    arr = (*env)->CallObjectMethod(env, obj, mid);
         len = (*env)->GetArrayLength(env,arr);
         printf("Array Length = %d\n",len);
         carr = (int*)malloc(len);
         (*env)->GetIntArrayRegion(env,arr,0,len,(jint*)carr);
         for (i=0;i<len;i++)
    printf("Array position %d is %d \n",i,carr);
    and here is the java class that deals with the native side
    import java.util.*;
    public class MyNativeInterface extends Object {
    private TextAreaDemo gui ;
    public MyNativeInterface (TextAreaDemo guiRecieved)
    gui = guiRecieved;
    static {
    System.loadLibrary("hello");
    public boolean sendLocoMessage ( byte [] bytesToSend )
    try {
    System.out.println("number Of Tokens ="+bytesToSend [0]);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println("didn't even get inside2 ok ");
    return true;
    public void receiveLocoMessage ( byte [] bytesToSend ){
    gui.AddMessage ("WOOOOO HOOOOOO");
    public native static void sayHello ();
    public native void nativeMethod();
    private int [] callback() {
    int cools [] = new int [32] ;
    int i = 0 ;
    for (i=0;i<32;i++)
    cools [i] = i;
    //System.out.println("In Java");
    return cools;
    the Say Hello Method works just fine
    and the array for the C side prints out just fine
    then evrything crashes with the following message
    An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
    Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION occurred at PC=0x6D3276E4
    Function=ZIP_Open+0x107
    Library=c:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\jre\bin\zip.dll
    and a whole BUNCH of current java thread stuff and a list of dynamic libraries.
    anyways thanks

    Your C code asks for the length of the array, then
    allocates that many BYTES using malloc. This looks
    bogus to me.I agree.
    Maybe something like this would be better:
    carr = (int*)malloc(len * sizeof jint);

  • Bootcamp with Windows 7 Home Pro on a Mac Mini 2.26...

    Forgive me if a similar thread is posted somewhere with the same topic.
    I just recently installed this, actually over the weekend to expand my gaming library not wanting to buy a PC. It seems to work remarkably well and runs Steam and the games that aren't native Mac well! It works so well, that I'm thinking about doing the same to my MBP which is slightly higher in specs...
    I use my MBP for music/work and I'm just a little concerned it may cause issues... Any feed back would be great.... I'm just wondering if I was extremely lucky to not run into issues.

    Check this out: Boot Camp- Macs that work with 64-bit editions of Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7

  • How to add  acrobat to windows 7 home pro default programs list

    I have lost the ability to set Acrobat as the default program for opening pdf files.  I can do it with manual "open with", however I cannot set it as the default to do it automatically through any of the windows options.  I found that Acrobat is not listed as one of the windows default rpgrams and would like to be able to add to that list.  Does anyone know how to do that?  I assume it requires a registry change but I don't know where.
    Thanks for your help

    The last item about PDF Maker files missing is another matter altogether. You really need to indicate what version of OFFICE you are using (usually where PDF Maker is used). With AA9, you can only use PDF Maker with OFFICE 2007 or earlier. AA9 is not compatible with OFFICE 2010. So adequate information is needed to give an answer. I suspect that you may have OFFICE 2010 or are using a 64-bit version of OFFICE that is also a compatibility issue for PDF Maker unless you upgrade to AA X.
    The last screen Rufus shows is not available in Win7. They moved that functionality to the Control Panel as I indicated in an earlier post. But you would in a similar manner go to the set Associations and see a long list of file types. You would select the PDF type and then edit the association. You would select Acrobat.exe and not AcroRd32.exe as your default association for PDF files. Reinstalling Reader just messes things up and should generally not even be installed when you have AA9. AA X is the first version that really has allowed both Acrobat and Reader due to some compatibility issues. Usually it is best to just stay with Acrobat and not have Reader on your system. If you do uninstall Reader, you will likely have to do a Repair to Acrobat.
