Exception Alert in WAD

is there a way to schedule alerts in WAD for exceptions. Like the manager wants to see a email in the morning every day for any exceptions that occur .
Thanks

Hi Amanda,
  You could use the Reporting Agent -> Exceptions.
  Here you have 3 options of dealing with your Exception
  1) Send E-Mail
  2) Create Alert in the Aler Monitor
  2) Export - to be used in a customised WorkFlow

  • Many Exceptions alert level

    Hello all:
    If we have several exceptions in a query. If threshold value areas overlap when we activate serveral exceptions, the worst (highest) alert level counts.
    Is there any way to change to LOWEST alert level count instead.
    Best REgards,
    Manthana

    Thanks Rajana for your inputs, however thats not what Iam looking at. Its more related to Manga's response that is it possible to define new exception alerts. For example in 3.x front end I can see only Good1, Good2, Medium3, Medium4, Bad5, Bad6 exception alerts which are predefined.
    My question is; is there an SPRO or a backend configuration setting where we can define more alerts like for example., Critical7, Critical8 etc.,
    Please let me know.
    Thanks alot!

    Also which Patch level are you using for BI 7.0 . Your basis team should set the Integration of RSPLAN i,e web based planning modeller . Also hope you created the Input ready query correctly with Key figures having property set to Data can e changed using a planning function or by user.
    Also check on WAD if you have configured the button group correctly to the planning function.

  • Exception Symbols in WAD & Link

    Hi All,
    1. I have a requirement in which i need to show an exception symbol beside the value in WAD report
    for any exception happening in the related query.
    2. I also need to pass the portal link of the query beside that. Here i need to understand if i can store the
    link in a table/DSO and then through a report i can access the field. Is this possible ?
    If i can do some manual coding in the XTML of wad and convert a string into an hyperlink...Pls
    advise and help me out.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

    Hi,
    1. I have a requirement in which i need to show an exception symbol beside the value in WAD report
    for any exception happening in the related query.
    Try to Insert the image(Exceptions) from Mime repository As Exception symbol is sap defined you will get it in Mime BC. if not you have to Paste it in the Customized Repository images thru SE80 select MIME Repository-> Expand SAP-> BW-> Expand Customer and then right-click select Import MIME objects and give the path where ur logo is stored,It will copy into repository.While creating we-template give the above path.System only reads images from MIME repository.By default SAP logo is stored in repository,thats why it displaying that.
    2. I also need to pass the portal link of the query beside that. Here i need to understand if i can store the
    link in a table/DSO and then through a report i can access the field. Is this possible ?
    I am not clear with this . but still some inputs when u try to execute the query you will get the link by itself at the web template try to copy paste.

  • How to view exception alerts in a dashboard

    Hi Experts,
    We are currently migrating our system from BW 3.5 to Netweaver 2004s (7.0).
    There were a few Reporting Agent settings which precalculated alerts on exceptions in a query and the alerts could be viewed by the user in a dashboard through web item Alert Monitor.
    In BEx broadcaster, we are able to generate the alerts but how can we deliver the alerts to the users in the same dashboard?
    Any assistance would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Abhishek.

    Hi,
    I assume the user has a directory on the server where his/her files go. In this case, you can use Java in a managed bean to access the folder and create a collection of the entries.

    Hi gurus,
    when we run a WAD template the users automatically use the back button of the explorer in order to navigate one step backward.

Then I get prompted for my ms sql login info, which I enter.  Then I see the "Enter Values" window with my data entry fields; but I don't see the nice formatting and buttons which I see when I run this from the other computers; I see only the placeholders.  I select or enter data and click on the "OK" link.  Then the message box pops up.  The message box pops up when I click on any of the links or on the "x" in the upper right.  Mesage box is explicit - Intenet Explorer Script Error, etc., as I described in my original post.

  • Alert Level in Exception Reporting

  • How to pass the caught exception in Thread.run back to the main program?

    I have following three Java files (simplified from a real world application I am developing, see files at the end of this posting):
    1. ThreadTest.java: The main program that invokes the Manager.run()
    2. Manager.java: The manager that creates a thread to execute the Agent.run() for each agent
    3. Agnet.java: The run() method can throw Exception
    My goal is twofold:
    1. To execute the run() method of an Agent in a thread (the reason for this is there are many Agents all managed by a Manager)
    2. To catch the exception thrown by Agent.run() in the main program, ThreadTest.main() -- so the main program can alert the exceptions
    My problem:
    Bottomline: I cannot pass the exception thrown by Agent.run() in the Thread.run() back to the main program.
    Explanation:
    The signature of Thread.run() (or Runnable.run()) is
    public void run();
    Since it does not have a throws clause, so I have to try/catch the Agent.run(), and rethrow a RuntimeException or Error. However, this RuntimeException or Error will not be caught by the main program.
    One work-around:
    Subclass the ThreadGroup, override the ThreaGroup.uncaughtException() methods, and spawn the threads of this group. However, I have to duplicate the logging and exception alerts in the uncaughtException() in addition to those already in the main program. This makes the design a bit ugly.
    Any suggestions? Am I doing this right?
    Thanks,
    Xiao-Li "Lee" Yang
    Three Java Files:
    // Agent.java
    public class Agent {
    public void run() throws Exception {
    throw new Exception("Test Exception"); // Agent can throw execptions
    // Manager.java
    public class Manager {
    public void run() throws Exception {
    try {         // <===  This try/catch is virtually useless: it does not catch the RuntimeException
    int numberOfAgents = 1;
    for (int i = 0; i < numberOfAgents; i++) {
    Thread t = new
    Thread("" + i) {
    public void run() {
    try {
    new Agent().run();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    throw new RuntimeException(e); // <=== has to be RuntimeException or Error
    t.start();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    throw new Exception(e); // <== never got here
    // ThreadTest.java
    public class ThreadTest {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    Manager manager = new Manager();
    manager.run();
    } catch (Throwable t) {
    System.out.println("Caught!"); // <== never got here
    t.printStackTrace();

    The problem is, where could you catch it anyway?
    try {
    thread.start();
    catch(SomeException e) {
    A thread runs in a separate, er, thread, that the catch(SomeException) isn't running within. Get it?
    Actually the Thread class (or maybe ThreadGroup or whatever) is the one responsible for invoking the thread's run() method, within a new thread. It is the one that would have to catch and deal with the exception - but how would it? You can't tell it what to do with it, it (Thread/ThreadGroup) is not your code.

  • Exception handling and Validation

    Hi Everyone,
    How to Validate and handle Exceptions if i use Sync/Async bridge in integraton process.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sakthi

    Hi,
    There are a couple of options available for handling validation and exception.
    Validations
    1. In Mapping
    2. In Adapter Module
    3. Condtion editor
    Exceptions:
    Alert rules
    Exception Branch in BPM
    Any kind of BPM the exceptions can be handled using the exception branch.

  • How to duplicate return of RFC.Exception Application error to test fix

    I am calling a RFC using a sync step in an BPM process. I am checking for system error and have an exception branch. However we got the below error (probably due to the ECC system not being available at that precise moment or something) which was not trapped by the exception alert handling because this comes in as an Application error and not a System error. My questions are :
    1) How to handle this return of .Exception message so that the BPM raises the alert in the exception branch? I have read in other threads that we need to assign the below message structure as the Fault Message and set this under the Exceptions property of the Synchronous send step. If this is true, I am mostly interested in the below question so I can test this.
    2) How to duplicate this issue? I am not sure when exactly the .Exception message is returned on a RFC call, this is not configured anywhere on the ABAP side.
    <rfc:ZRFC_GET_DATA.Exception xmlns:rfc="urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions">

    </rfc:ZRFC_GET_DATA.Exception>

    Is the error resolved means that the RFC is working fine?
    I think this error due to the RFC destination set to Non-unicode which is expecting unicode option
    Check the R/3 machine whether it is unicode or not try to set the RFC destination option of unicode  in other way and check the error getting replicated or not

  • Trying to get Descriptive Alerts in BPM using wlg4714

    Hi I am trying to get a descriptive BPM Alert as per the Weblog above.
    But I am not good at Java UDF.
    The UDF featured how/where do I put this coding.
    Scenario
    BPM transform step fails and throws exception BPM_ALERT.
    Within the Exception branch I setup a transform message mapping for my message MY_MESSAGE to an error message type MY_ERROR.
    Within the mapping message_type --> error_message_type graphical mapping
    I have mapping to node error_text.
    Do I create a UDF called triggerAlert context Queue
    then add the code in here? what about ResultList...
    IF it needs to be a compiled class. I have tried this in the SAP Web Developer Studio Tool to write class and compile but it is erroring and will not compile...
    package AlertMessage;

    What to do, How to do it...
    thanks,
    V

    Bhavesh,
    I do go on...
    Problem:- I have re-engineered a BPM to reduce long runtimes in Collect Scenario.
    (1) Incoming to XI single xml messages --> collected in a folder on XI server.
    (2) Trigger renaming of messages extension to *.xml in folder at specific time ie once daily.
    (3) Receiving Communication Channel (type File) is first step in BPM gets triggered.
    (4) BPM block 1 Receive step in loop collects messages (1,2,3...n) into multiline container of same type as messages.
    (5) After 2 minutes Deadline Branch triggered.
    (6) Ends Block 1 moves to Block 2
    (7) Block 2 Transform Step of multiline container to single message type.
    Simple mapping ie
    <LIST> 1..unbounded    -->    <LIST> 1
    <S_STX>                     -->        <S_STX> 1..unbounded
    message1                                      message1
    <S_STX>                                 <S_STX> 2..
    <LIST>
    <LIST>
    <S_STX>
    message2
    <S_STX>
    <LIST>                        -->       <LIST>
    (8) Send step Single Message mapped using BIC Mapping to a Report XSLT Template.
    If the process is successful then I get in XML message Monitor an entry and a payload. Of the concatenated messages.
    If the process has an error the users want to be told about it as soon as possible hence I set up Alerting. Which works.
    But on running a test scenario where message3 (structure is incorrect) at Step (7) the BPM throws the Alert correctly (no information passed as to error) and the Workflow Finishes.
    In XML message Monitor the result is message1 is Greenflag. Message2, and Message3 are chequered flag.
    No Message Payload generated from the BPM.
    The users are not happy with this nor am I.
    (1) I look at Workflow Log of BPM and see that step(7) the transformation step has information in the container elements MAPPING and TRACE (no way to reference these from BPM I know of).
    (2) I read blogs etc and discover I should perhaps try to add more steps to my Exception/Alert Branch to try to deliver a Payload so the XML message Monitor shows something. Is this a correct assumption?
    (3) I try to make my Alert message more informative but I am not skilled in what information is available to identify the error. The Workflow Container is not enough.
    If I add a container operation to instantiate a container variable I would like to grab the Payload at least of the multiline element.
    (4) To produce a Payload in the Exception Branch to output from the multiline element do I have to do a Loop and Container Operation to Split the multiline message up again into individual messages to send out to an error folder.
    (5) I am trying to make it easier for the users to find the errorred files than searching through the Archive folder from the initial receive step.
    (6) I am trying to stretch my knowledge of XI Error reporting so I can deliver a better solution to the users.
    (7) I have some Java Skills from 10 years ago when life was simpler hence very rusty and am finding it difficult to fit it into the context of UDF's (what information can be accessed etc).
    I hope this is clearer about my self made problem. I should never have mentioned error messaging to the users...
    thanks,
    V

  • Runtime workbeanch RWB - Alert Configuration link not working

    Hi,
    We are having issue opening one of the link in our SAP PI system.
    The link is http://Hotname:51400/rwp -> AlertConfiguration and
    Alert inbox.
    All other links [Component Monitoring,Message Monitoring, Performance Monitoring .......] on this runtime workbeanch page (http://Hotname:51400/rwp) are working fine, except ALERT CONFIGURATION and ALERT INBOX.
    Please suggest a solution.
    Thanks
    Ajay

    Thanks for all your suggestions.
    I have checked the FQDN hostname parameter in the exchange profile and it is as per.
    Also the t-code ALRTINBOX is working fine. The inbox is getting displayed in the web browser.
    Going back to the problem I have reported, when the link http://Hotname:51400/rwp -> AlertConfiguration is executed in turn this service is running the service u201Csxms_alertrulesu201D [Default_host/sap/bc/bsp/sap/sxms_alertrules/   from SICF].
    I have manually checked this service from SICF - sxms_alertrules -> Test service, even this service is failing to run with error u201CInternet Explorer cannot display the webpageu201D
    The link is hitting the browser with link u201Chttp://Hostname.Domain.net:8014/sap/bc/bsp/sap/sxms_alertrules?sap-client=100u201D
    The service is active but still this service is failing.
    Can anyone suggest solution out.

  • Alert in SNC

    We have alert no 181,182,183, 184 185 and 171-175 which is std alert. This is 'TLB Alert for transportation lane.
    We do not want this alert to be displyed in exceptions---> alert monitor.
    How to deactivate this alert? We are using SNC5.1
    regards,
    Vaibhav Virkud

    Hi Vaibhav,
    Other alternative is you can control it via roles and authorization.
    In Authorization Object C_ATID "Authorization Check for Alert Type" you can maintain Alert Type as per your requirement.
    I think this object will be there for every user with Alert type value="*" you can change this with only required alert types.
    Have you activated alerts in SNC or by default alerts are activated?

    Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Is there a workaround for this problem?
    One other thing to mention is that we are locked into using the WLS 10.0 / ALSB 3.0 versions since we are setting up a staging environment that has to reproduce the production.
    Many thanks in advance for any help or pointers!!

    As a workaround, you could export your domain configuration from production with wlst ( to create the .py scripts ).
