Exception in database say pl/sql

Hi, How can we catch the exception which occurs in database where databse has been called by a java application?
cheers

Hmmm the same as you would catch any other exception in your application?

    and in this case the database is on another machine.
    if i try with :
    DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@pcserver:1521:PIRELLI",

    doesn't work, but i can read from the database with another product TOAD, so this meand the DB service is running, I can't undestand.
    In any case thanks becouse now i know that the problem is not about classpath or sqlstatement, but is only about configuration and service.

  • Changing databases from MS SQL Express to MySQL in a  Report at runtime

    Hi all,
    I have an issue in changing databases from MS SQL Express to MYSQL or vice versa in a Report at runtime.
    Here is what I do:
    I create a very simple report with the Crystal Report Designer 2008 V 12.3.0.601.
    This report uses a stored procedure to retrieve it's data. I connect to the Database with JDBC.
    I have two Databases with similar schema and procedures: MS SQL Express an MySQL.
    When I create the report with MSSQL all parameters have the '@' character, as they are named. ok.
    I deploy this report in a JSP application with the crystaldecisions SDK an show it in html viewer format.
    The connection to the MSSQL DB gets established by my JSP and the CRJavaHelper.
    I pass the parameters through my URL to the JSP and finally to the CRJavaHelper (addDiscreteParameterValue)
    and everything works fine.
    The challenge starts, when I try to change the Datasource of this report to MySQL at runtime (which is a requirement in my project).
    I successfully can establish the DBConnection, but my stored procedure just doesn't get called!
    The report just displays totally empty, no Exceptions etc. are thrown. In the DB logfile I see the effort to find my procedure
    and that's all. The Statements called by the SDK finds the correct Procedure, but there's no call to the procedure.
    Of course I know, that MS SQL names it's procedures slightly different (';1' at the end), but even when I rename the table Alias to the correct name in CRHelperJava, I get no call to the procedure in MySQL. I also renamed the parameter-fields in changeDataSource(..) by casting the table to IProcedure and working on its methods. Still no success.
    What am I missing to do or what do I do wrong?
    Any suggestions or even solutions?
    Best Regards,
    Tom

    after all I have managed to set param Values, now I'm stuck because the parms seem to have dissappeared in the formula fields. E.g. I receive this Exception:

  • Frequently transfering databases between MS SQL and Oracle

    Hello all,
    I am looking for a solution to easily, efficiently and be able to migrate/transfer databases between MS SQL and Oracle frequently.
    I need to be able to replicate a databases on Ms SQL and Oracle for testing purposes. I will need to do this on frequent basis - almost once a week.
    Please suggest what would be the best way.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Justin,
    You have guessed it right to a great extend. Yes dont actually need to develop, rather need to test an application that supports SQL and Oracle databases. Now when testing the application its obviously vital to create proper systematic test data. This usually takes a lot of time and effort from the testing team/team-member. So, yes what I need to do is create the test data on one database(may it be SQL or Oracle) and migrate/transfer the data into the database on another server( ie. SQL to Oracle or Oracle to SQL).
    So,
    Are you developing a product that works against both SQL Server and Oracle and trying to synchonize development efforts?Yes, thats correct to extend, I need to test an application against both the servers, as it supports both types of databases, and try to reduce the test setup efforts (literally double the amount) that go in after manual creating same data on each type of database.
    Are you trying to replicate structural changes between systems?I am not 100% sure, what you mean by this. But whats important and enough for me is to replicate the data. It would not be a lot of work to run the scripts and create empty schema objects.
    Are you trying to replicate data changes between systems? The fact that you're only doing this weekly suggests that you're not working in a traditional replication environment.Yes, again as I mentioned above. It would be sufficient for me to just get a copy of the initial dataset. And then replicating changes to it would not be that important. However, if I can achieve a solution to this, I can by all means create a new database on the one server (SQL or Oracle) and take the data-set of the most recent/correct changes and replicate it on the other type of server as and when needed.
    No - this is not a traditional replicating environment. I say weekly, because it is usually once in a week or forthnight that someone from the team will need to spent time to manually copy the test-data onto the another type of server in order to run the same testcases on two types of servers.
    How do you handle conflicts (i.e. if I modify a row in both systems, which modification wins)? This is not really a problem in my scenario, as I only need to be able to transfer the data across to the different server and forget about the two databases actually being in-sync.
    I have also, looked at DTS for a possible solution on SQL, however it seems highly un-realistic, having to map somewhere like 250 tables from the a drop-down list, only because the two database servers use different cases to represent tables internals. So, table 'Table' in my application's SQL database is called 'TABLE' is my applications Oracle database. DTS is highly inefficient in dealing with this. Also, having 250 tables move makes this a bit of a pain.
    Thank you Justin for your response; I highly appreciate your inputs.
    Regards, Nisarg

  • SAP and Database Encrption on SQL Server 2005 or 2008

    Hi.  I searched as best I could for any existing threads on this topic, and could not find any, so I hope it's OK to raise a new one.
    We're running SAP ECC 6.0 on a SQL 2005 database.  Database size is around 3.3 TB, with Trans Log of about 550GB, storage is HP EVA.
    I've been asked to report on how Database Encryption would impact our systems, both from the perspective of enabling it initially and then how it would affect performance going forward.
    I've read a few White Papers,  for example:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/4ab89e84-0d01-0010-cda2-82ddc3548c65?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
    .. and from what I'm reading, it looks like I would want to be moving to SQL Server 2008 as a first step.  Does anyone have any experience of implementing SQL encryption for a SAP database, either in 2K5 or 2K8?
    All comments or help will be welcomed.
    Thanks
    Steven Clark

  • How to store data into database by reading sql statements from text file

    how to write java program for storing data into database by reading sql statements from text file

    Step 1: Create a property file to add various queries.
    Step 2: Read the properties file using ResourceBundle
    Step 3: Use the jdbc to execute the query read from the property file.
    So in future if you need to change query no need do any modifications in java program. But depends on how you use the property file.

  • Problem with "Database Gateway for SQL Server"

    Hello,
    i am testing the different technologies for connecting an oracle database with a sql-server database.
    The way using 10g-generic-connectivity with ODBC works fine, but the 11g-DG4MSQL makes problems.
    Environment:
    Server PEGASUS (32bit Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2) with Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.4.0
    Server OBELIXUS (32bit Windows 2000 Sp4) with MS-SQL-Server 2005
    On PEGASUS i have installed the gateway in a new oracle home directory:
    "D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1" => home directory of 10g
    "D:\oracle\product\11.1.0\tg_1\" => home directory of the gateway

  • Run Reporting services 2005 with databases housed on SQL Server 2012?

    Hi, I have a RS 2005 install in which the ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB databases reside on a different SQL Server 2005 server. I am planning to upgrade DB server to 2012 and would like to keep SSRS as 2005.As a second phase I will upgrade SSRS2005
    to SSRS 2008. So I would be running something like this:
    Server A: SQL 2005 Reporting Services
    Server B: SQL 2012 database engine - housing ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB
    Is this configuration supported?

    Hello,
    According to the
    BOL, Report Server service checks the database version at startup. If the report server is connected to a database that is an earlier version, the report server will update the database during startup.If you have a newer report server database, you
    cannot use it with an earlier version of a report server instances.
    In that case, the earlier versions of SQL Server Database Engine that can be used to host the SSRS report server databases. For example, In SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, we can use either SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005 to host the databases, for
    SSRS 2012, we can use SQL Server 2012,2008 R2,2008,2005.
    Based on my test, In the Reporting Services 2005 Configure Manager, we can create a new database on a remote SQL Server 2012 database engine and the Initialization is successful.
    In this way, the databases are created from the script file which installed with the Reporting Services instance, you can find the Catalog.sql and CatalogTempDB.sql  under folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportServer.
    However, when upgrade the existing ReportServer database and ReportServerTempDB database on the SQL Server 2012 by restore from a backup, we cannot use this existing database for Reporting Services 2005 and get the following message:
    The database version (162) does not match your reporting serivces installation.And the initialization failed.
    In your case, you can host the ReportServer database and ReportServerTempDB database of SSRS 2005 on SQL Server 2012 database enginer by create a new database from Reporting Services 2005 Configure Manager. But you cannot use the existing
    database which upgrade to SQL Server 2012.

  • Notice update or delete in Database via WCF SQL Adapter

    Hi Folks,
    i try to notice any changes in a database table via SQL Adapter: so i check for a special column wich contains '0' for new datasets and '1' for those i already copied via BizTalk.
    This works fine as long as you only insert datasets, update or delete is not recocnized...
    Whats the best or possible way to react on these actions too?
    Thanks for your Ideas!

    Hi,
    I am shure there are many different approaches so here is what I have in mind:
    In case you need to react to deleted rows in your original table you need a sub table to trigger your biztalk for datasets that do not exist any longer.
    In this table you need 2 colums:
    first one to correlate to your original data row (id),
    second one to hold the status: For ex. 0= new, 1=update, 3=deleted
    Then you need a
    Trigger event on your original table that sets the status for the modified data id in your new table.
    You can then poll on this sub table as you already mentioned in your question.

    Using the -force command as Saleesh noted should work, but will kill your contacts.  If it's just a few users that are acting up, you can restore the contacts from backup for these users (export-csuserdata before you start).
    Is it all users, or just a handful?

  • Third Party Database Support in SQL Developer

    As a rule I don't (blatantly) advertise my blog on this forum, but I have just had feedback from my recent posting which made realize you might not have stumbled on this new functionality. i.e. Third Party Database Support in SQL Developer. <br>
    <p>In the Evaluation Release 3 (1.1.0.22.71) you can connect to and browse MySQL and SQL Server databases. The Getting Started document on OTN, does mention where to get the jdbc drivers and briefly, how to set it up in SQL Developer. This blog entry takes that a step further.
    <p>If you have access to either of these databases, please take a whirl and see what you think. For production you will also be able to connect to an MS Access database.
    <p>Regards<br>
    Sue

    The great thing, as you see from Donal's reply, is that other teams can take advantage of SQL Developer's framework, so we have a few teams working on extensions to SQL Developer and the product benefits from the work they do.
    From the SQL Developer team's side, we have logged and fixed bugs for 8i support in 1.1. since the last evaluation drop, so when you get the next drop for SQL Developer, you should be able to browse more objects using 8i. Also I have logged further 8i bugs and will continue to have more fixed. This is an ongoing project. We also have a number of features that need to be added to support current releases and try to give these a high priority. So the team is focused on addressing as many requests as we can for supported features.
    We know we have many customers on unsupported databases and would like to support them too, having said that, we have run a poll on this forum for ages and have had 7.5% (22) responses for databases lower than 9.x. It's a small poll, but based on all our feedback we believe we have the right focus.
    Regards
    Sue

  • Add multiple users to a certain database in the SQL server in one go

    I wonder if there is any method to add multiple users to a certain database in the SQL server in one go and without using transact code.
    I can add a single user to a certain database “Q” for example by right click on the user “U1” for example then properties then in user mapping tab select
    the database “Q”, so there should be a method to add multiple users ( U1,U2,U3…) to this database?

    Many thanks Visakh16,
    I can do this using the below script, but what I am searching for is do to this without any scripting.
    USE TestDatabase; --Make sure you have the right database
    DECLARE @sql VARCHAR(MAX) = '';
    SELECT @sql = @sql + 'CREATE USER ' + name + ' FOR LOGIN ' + name + ';
    ' +
    'GRANT CREATE TABLE, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE VIEW, VIEW DEFINITION TO ' + name + ';
    FROM sys.server_principals p
    WHERE p.type in ('S','U') -- SQL Logins and Windows Login. Do not change!
    and p.name in ('U1','U2','U3'); -- List of names to add. alter to suit
    PRINT @sql; -- Show the statements being executed in the messages pane
    EXEC(@sql); -- Run the statements that have been built

    Dear Kumar,
    I have checked the datatypes of the table and datatypes of the Pageitems, both the datatypes are same.
    I have created the region using the wizard based on the VO.
    My custom table having only 3 columns and History Columns.Out of 3 columns PersPersonid is Primary key column and I am assigning the sequence value to the column in create method of EO as below
    public void create(AttributeList attributeList) {
    super.create(attributeList);
    setPersPersonid(getOADBTransaction().getSequenceValue("PER_PEOPLE_S"));
    //Here PER_PEOPLE_S is the Sequence
    Thanks,
    Sai
