Excesive columns in export to xls file

Hi
My problem is when i export a crystalreport 2010 file to excel file the final file in excel has a lot of columns.
How can avoid this issue,?
Is there a propertie that i need to activate or make a special procedure for just include one column for each data column of the crystalreport
I am using crystalreport 2010 with vs 2010

Hi Isidro,
To export to Excel without the extra columns, your report must be formatted in columns. When the report is exported to Excel, it tries to determine the column layout but if your data overlaps then it breaks everything into seperate columns.
In your screenshot, look at line 9. This is probably the line that is causing the issue because Crystal is putting each word in a separate column.
Try this, line your fields into columns and make sure the height and length are the same and line them up with the gridlines and use snap to grid.
Minimize extra spaces between the columns. I have my fields almost touching, if there is too much space between columns Crystal interprets this as an empty column.
The big issue though is the string on line 9. I am assuming this is a formula. When you export the report, use the Data Only option. This should put this formula in a single cell but continue to have the other rows lined up properly.
The important thing to remember is to have everything lined up vertically and horizontally with the same size and height.

Export to xls file format

hi
i have a comma separated txt file which i want to convert into Excel (.xls) file format.
I have created the xls file using "\t" and "\n" characters.
But the problem is that i want to do some text formatting also i.e. i want to make the Column Headers as Bold etc.

Export XLS files

Hi all.
Does anyone know a function to export "real" XLS files from SAP ECC 6?
When we try to export in this format, besides the XLS extension, the file content is a CSV (separated by tabs) which I have to open in Excel to convert into a real XLS file.
I would like to generate a "real" XLS from SAP to be imported into another into another application (which doesn't accept CSV format) without having the extra step of the conversion in Excel.

Just a detail for reference: it only works in workstations where you have MS Excel installed.

Export to Excel – XLS file formatting

Hi,
I have created process that exports report to XLS file. I write XLS file using XML tags, supported by Excel, which allow me to format each cell (especially look and data type). Unfortunately I can’t force Excel to see cell as date-cell.
I’m getting from database date in YYYY-MM-DD format and I want the same in Excel. I can export it as string value, but I want Excel to see it as date – not string.
This code works fine:
<ss:Cell><ss:Data ss:Type="String">'||x.begin_date||'</ss:Data></ss:Cell>
but Excel see the cell as a string.
I want something like that:
<ss:Cell><ss:Data ss:Type="Date">'||x.prnm_short_name||'</ss:Data></ss:Cell>
but this one doesn’t work, as well as “DateTime” type.
Do you know how to solve this problem?

Here is a sample of how you can create a procedure from an EXCEL file.
1. create, format and save Excel file as an XML file
2. edit file to add" htp.p(' " tags to begining of each line and "')';" tags to the end of the lines
3. add standard header tags at start of file (see code below)
4. add standard end tags at end of file (see code below)
5. grant excute privileges as required
6. test procedure: from browser (http://.../apex/owner.excel_rpt in this case; you do not need to use apex to do this
- you might want to secure the procedure once you got it running by limiting it to run only from your app

How to write heading in the xls file with each of the channel in each column?

Dear All,
While writing the data into the xls file through .lvm method I want the Headong for each channel to be include on each of the column, but i dint know how to do this? is this possible in the LabVIEW from any of the file writing method? if yes how can i do that? please help me.........

Its a really fantastic idea, and it works for me too, but the thing inside was every time once it writes the heading and then it write the data again after that it wirtes the heading and write the data, but i ve copup with dat and i ve modified the vi which u ve given to me, i am attaching that vi to with this.
wat i ve done is just putting the write to spreadsheet data vi into the while loop and other all are outside the while loop, which makes the heading to write once and data to write continuosly.

Export Chinise data in XLS file using toad

I have one table which have chinise data
All data is correct .
I am exporting chinese data from Oracle table,I am facing problem
     I export data through toad in flat file
     and import it in XLS file using UTF character set .
After importing all character gets converted to ???? marks.
I cant see the data properly in the XLS file .
my guess data base is not exporting file as unicode and hence charactger gets converted

Sun IDM 8.1.1P2: Export user records to xls file Functionality Issue

This is my first post in this form, please guide me to right path.
We implemented custom functionality to search user records from AD and LDAP from IDM User console. After searching the records we provided a export functionality to export resultant user records to xls file.
The issue is the number of exported user records to xls file is not same as the number of user records while search.
This functionality is working good in our Development and VALenvironments but not with the Production environment.
I checked the custom jsp file and the calling Rule from all the three environments and they are same.
From VAL and PROD server.log I see the following.
PWC1406: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception
java.lang.IllegalStateException: PWC3991: getOutputStream() has already been called for this response
But this error message didn't stop VAL to export same number of records to xls file.
# of records serached from PROD is 16809
# of records serached from VAL is 10312
They are constant all the time.
# of records exported to xls from PROD is 168 or 1274 (It is varying, each time I export it shows different number)
# of records exported to xls from VAL is 10312 (Always same as search)
We are on Glassfish V2.1.1P8.
I checked file sizes from VAL and PROD both are same.
It would be great if any one can point me to the right direction where else I have to check for possible cause.

The search is working as expected in all 3 environments DEV,VAL and PROD.
The search and alignment performed by the Rule where as DB connection and Saving to XLS performed by the custom JSP file.
Since search is working fine I don't think any permissions issue with AD or LDAP.
Couple of things I noticed from server.log from all environments

This is logging when the custom jsp is executing.
getOutputStream() has already been called for this response.
I am not sure if this is the root cause, since it is logging in DEV and VAL also.
Other things I noticed are.
Yester day I conducted 10 tests and all are taking 6 min 18 sec or 6 min 19 sec or 6 min 22 sec.
Also I noticed that the number of user records exported to xls depends on the transfer rate.
For example,
if the file download transfer rate is 1.50 KB then the user records are between 1200 to 1800 where as the search user records are 16590.
if the file download transfer rate is 800 B then the user records are between 200 to 600 where as the search user records are 16590.
Not sure where to check this time value(attribute) 6 min 18 sec..
Please provide me some info where else I need to check.

Hi Madhu,
You might also consider using Excel Spreadsheet XML as the target structure (namespace is urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet). When you double-click the resulting xml on a PC it automatically opens with Excel. So, users don't see a difference. It will open up a lot of options with formatting including creating multiple worksheets if you wanted to. Best of all you can stick with XML.

Is it possible to export a CSV file in stead of a XLS file in WDA ALV?

I know the user can change the file type themselves. But it would be better to export a CSV file directly. Do you have any suggestion?

"Cannot interpret data in file" error while using GUI_UPLOAD for .xls file

     I have made a program using FM GUI_UPLOAD to upload an .xls file to an internal table. But upon executing ,it gives error "Cannot Interpret data in file". I have seen in other posts people talking about GUI_UPLOAD FM to upload data from excel directly into internal table. Kindly help.

ORA-06502 Error while exporting to xls format

While Exporting to xls format, the ORA-06502 crops up in the exported file.
The print server is BI Publisher.
The report has around 50 columns.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Import CSV data to an existing populated XLS file

Hi Guys,
Looking for some assistance, with some powershell I have never done before.. and don't know where to start..
I have a CSV file that contains some data - Several items exported from a standard powershell command.
I also have an XLS file that has been manually populated for the last 6 months with data.
What I want to get to (and have started with exporting the data to csv) is for the script to run, and add the data from the CSV to the XLS in the already exisiting colum heading.
SO in the first row - we need to add the date, followed by adding data under each subsequent column that already has a heading..
Anyone got any suggestions on where to start with this? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I think your question is a bit too broad and vague.
If you are not a scripter then I recommend asking in the Exxcel forum. THey will help you learn how to use Excel tomerge data tables.
If you want to scrpt this then youneed to start by learning how to write a script. YOu will want to use Import-Csv and the Excel object model.
If this is critical then I recommend contacting a consultant.
