Exchange 2007 Block incoming meeting requests?

Hello,
Is there any way to block incoming meeting requests on an Exchange 2007 server and have it send a message back saying the server doesn't accept said requests?  I know it can be done in Outlook with a rule but we would like to block them
at the server for any requests, not just a couple of users.
Thanks

You could look at hub transport rules. I cant remember if 2007 allowed a rule based on a message class.
I would also disable the processing of external meeting requests for mailboxes:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996340(v=exchg.80).aspx
Use the ProcessExternalMeetingMessages parameter to specify whether to process meeting requests originating outside the Exchange organization

  • Exchange 2007: User getting meeting invitations from 3 meeting rooms

    Hi,
Hope someone can help. I have an Exchange 2007 server with various room mailboxes.  One user is getting meeting room invitations from 3 meeting rooms. He is not a delegate on these meeting rooms, nor does he seem to have special permissions on their
calendars. I checked a couple of persons who ARE delegates, to see if he was a delegate on them in case there was some weird looping thing going on but nothing. I also checked transport rules and there was nothing that could cause this behavior.
Anyone have any ideas, because I don't?
    Thanks.

Not sure that I follow this completely.  My understanding of this issue is that there are 3 or so resource mailboxes who I assume are setup to auto-process incoming meeting request.  For each received meeting request, another user is receiving
a copy of the meeting request, even though he is not listed as a delegate nor are there any rules configured to send to this user.
So my understanding of the question was, why is this user receiving meeting notifications for these calendars/resource mailboxes?
But now it sounds like there is a 3rd person involved.
Are there any calendar folder permissions or settings specifically defined in any of these 3 locations (resource mailbox, user1, colleague)?
Completely remove delegates from all 3 resources & apply the change.  Test to see if the problem still occurs.  If not, re-add all of the users who should be delegates and test again. If they get the message again once delegates are added,
then one of those delegates might be the cause.
For PublicDelegates, open ADSIEdit  and look at the Active Directory properties of each users.  These are attributes on the AD object.  Just open ADSIEDIT.msc, select the defaults in the Connect To window, go to the OU where the users
reside, and view the properties of the users.

  • Logging into home remotely - is Verizon blocking incoming connection requests?

I'm trying to set up my computer at home so that I can access it from my in-laws, who are also FIOS customers and from my Android device via Sprint's network.   Both of these use SSH as the protocol, and on the theory that port 22 might be blocked, I set up the Actiontec to map an alternate port  (1977) to port 22 on my server.  My first attempt was to use the port forwarding capability in the router, but I have been unsuccessful in establishing a connection from outside my network.
I've tried configuring  my server as the DMZ for the Actiontec, which makes me nervous, but I was running out of ideas.  I even turned the firewall off on the PPoE connection but that didn't help either.
From outside my network, I can ping the WAN IP address assigned by Verizon to my router, so inbound ICMP packets are OK, at least as far as getting to the Actiontec
I can log onto my server while on my local network, but not from outside the network.
I'm running out of ideas.  Does anyone know of a way to dump packets coming to the Actiontec so that I can tell if the inbound TCP packets make it to my router?
Does Verizon block inbound TCP requests for residential service?  For all ports?
                                      Thanks for any info,
                                Joe H.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't have it working yet, but I was able to run a test that forwarded the port to my laptop and I see (via wireshark) the inbound connection.  So, while I can log into my server locally, I must have some sort of firewall rule on that server that's preventing connections from the outside.
Verizon, I apologize for implying you were blocking.   This looks like a local issue on my end.

  • Meeting Requests

    Hi All,
I have a C30 appliance and need to write a message filter to block external Meeting Request type emails for two specific users in my organization -- preferably with an action to drop & reply back with a canned response. What's the easiest way to achieve this? Is there anything specific to meeting request type emails in SMTP across all email clients? I don't want a different rule for every email client out there if possible.
    Any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

i think you can do a check for attachments' extension type '.ics'. that is the only kind of extension i've ever seen. you can also try mime type of 'text/calendar' since it seems to be the same in all my meetings:
    ------_=_NextPart_002_01CA1630.4546F580
    Content-class: urn:content-classes:calendarmessage
    Content-Type: text/calendar;
    method=REQUEST;
    name="meeting.ics"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
    your filter logic would be:
if recipients are person1 or person 2 AND mime type is text/calendar
    then notify AND drop
let me know if you need help on the syntax or testing.
    take care!

  • Block incoming calendar / meeting requests to a specific mailbox / user using transport rules or an Outlook rule?

I have a weird request I have never thought I would get. I have a VIP user that wants to receive no calendar invites / meeting invites from:
    - anyone outside of our organization (ie: from the internet)
    - only certain users from INSIDE our organization
Can I accomplish this either though a transport rule and/or an Outlook rule? I am on Exchange 2007 currently, and Outlook 2007 currently. Soon to have both on 2013 versions, migrating soon, but if possible, I need to implement this in our current environment.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
Based on your description, I understand that the VIP user don't want to receive meeting requests from anyone outside of your organization and certain users from inside your organization. If so, we can't create transport rule in exchange 2007.
I recommend you upgrade your exchange server 2007 to exchange 2013. If you use exchange 2013, you can create this transport rule like : under condition, the sender is this person (distribution
    group, you can add certain users from inside your organization to a distribution group) ; the recipient is this person (the VIP user);
the message properties include the message type(Calendaring); under actions, block the message reject the message and include an explanation/ reject the message with the enhanced status code of /delete the message without notifying anyone.
You need to create the second transport rule: you only need to change the first condition: the sender is located outside the organization, and other conditions and actions are the same as the first transport rule.

  • Outlook multi-day (not 'all day') meeting requests showing up as 1 day off on iphone attached Activesync Exchange 2010 accounts

    Exchange 2010 SP2 Server
iPhone iOS 5.01 (4/4s) using ActiveSync
    Outlook 2007 clients
When multi-day (not 'all day') meeting requests or appointments are being sent to email accounts which have an iPhone attached to the Exchange account via ActiveSync, the iPhone accepts the meeting request but then moves the event one day later than what it was originally scheduled and posts it to Outlook - also 1 day later than it is supposed to be.
For example:  A meeting request comes into my that is schedule for 9AM-4PM M-W but when I accept it on my iphone it gets posted to my calendar as an ALL DAY event but T-Thu
We upgraded to Exchange SP2 because some of the threads were alluding that SP2 would fix it - it didn't.  I know the fix is to rip out the event to separate calendar events but this will not work for reqeusts coming from outside.  And this is too tedious.  If anything, it is a serious bug.
    Anybody seen this before?
    Thanks,
    Monty.

I am experiencing a similar problem with a client of mine who is using Microsoft's Cloud-based Exchange server, Office 365.  I suspect the Office 365 server is an Exchange 2010 server, similar to your environment.  Check out my tests below which I think define when the day shifting happens.
I see that you applied SP2 to your Exchange 2010 environment, but have you also applied Update Rollup 1?  See this article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324.  It would be interesting to know whether that rollup resolves your problem.
I have done some pretty extensive testing and have posted in the Office 365 Support Forum (http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/146/p/53396/192332.aspx#192332)  Here is a summary of my testing.
I am having the exact same problem described by Jim Edmonds and jkwmail (http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/176/p/19921/93304.aspx#93304) with one of my clients who is not very happy about this or our inability to resolve the problem.  Here is what I am experiencing:
When an appointment in Office 365 spans multiple days, the appointment gets converted to an All Day Event and moved forward one day on an iPhone ActiveSync client.
I have completed the following troubleshooting:
1 - Using my GMail Account and my work email account on MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 Server I created separate single day appointments in the morning from each account spanning two hours and invited my client who is using MS Outlook 2010 and Office 365.
Result:  The appointments show the correct date and time on my Outlook, MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 OWA, and iPhone as well as my client's Outlook, Office 365 webmail, and iPhone.
2 - Using my GMail Account and my work email account on MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 Server I created separate single day appointments in the afternoon from each account spanning two hours and invited my client who is using MS Outlook 2010 and Office 365.
Result:  The appointments show the correct date and time on my Outlook, MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 OWA, and iPhone as well as my client's Outlook, Office 365 webmail, and iPhone.
3 - Using my GMail Account and my work email account on MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 Server I created separate multi-day appointments from Friday at 5 PM to Monday at 8 AM from each account and invited my client who is using MS Outlook 2010 and Office 365.
Result:  The appointments show the correct date and time on my Outlook, MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 OWA, and iPhone as well as my client's Outlook and Office 365 webmail.  However, on my client's iPhone, the time on the appointments had changed to an all day event and the start date was shifted one day forward, Saturday, and the end date was Monday unless the appointment end time was after the appointment start time in which case it created an All Day Event on Tuesday as well.  For Example:  If the appointment was from 8 AM Friday Morning to 8 AM Monday Morning, the iPhone would show an All Day Event on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  If the appointment was from 8 AM Friday Morning to 8:30 AM Monday Morning, the iPhone would show an All Day Event on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.  If the appointment was from 8 AM Friday Morning to 7:30 AM Monday Morning, the iPhone would show an All Day Event on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  This was also true for appointments starting on Friday at 5 PM and ending on Monday at 5 PM, starting on Friday at 5 PM and ending on Monday at 5:30 PM, and starting on Friday at 5 PM and ending on Monday at 4:30 PM as in the above AM examples.
*** Again I would like to note that on my iPhone which is connected to my company's MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 server, the multi-day appointment shows up correctly with correct start and end times and is not converted to an All Day Event. ***
It would seem this is a problem with ActiveSync on Office 365 and iOS devices.  What is particularly frustrating is that this exact problem is identified in KB 2563324 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324) Issue 1.6 - "An appointment is longer than 24 hours is changed to a multi-day All Day Event" which states:  "To resolve this issue, install Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2 (SP2)."  Since this is a cloud based service, we do not have the ability to either see what the current version of the Exchange service we are connected to is or update the service with this patch level.
4 - I performed the above three tests with my client creating the events in MS Outlook 2010 and inviting my work account on the MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 Server and got the exact same results.
5 - My client's iPhone is running iOS 4.3 and my iPhone is running iOS 5.1.0.  In order to test this without going through the update process on my client's iPhone, I set up his Office 365 account on my iPhone and performed the tests in numbers 1-4 from above, viewing the results on my iPhone, and got the exact same results.
6 - Today, I tried this with a different Office 365 account, performed the multi-day test in number 3 from above and got the exact same results.
7 - Today I also upgraded my iPhone to iOS 5.1.1, performed the multi-day test in number 3 from above and got the exact same results.
8 - I have confirmed that all time zones are set correctly.  I have checked the iPhone, OWA, Office 365 Webmail, etc.
I believe the problem in my case is with the Office 365 environment and not the iOS device.  However, trying to get support from these large companies seems to be very difficult?
Does anyone from Apple know if this is an iOS bug or a problem with Exchange 2010/Office 365?
    Thanks...
    Jp

Attendee receives the meeting request:   2:00 P.M.
Would you please help us in this issue.

    Hi,
It seems some caches issues. I suggest we firstly try scheduling a downtime to reboot the Exchange Server to refresh the settings.
In addition, I’d like to ask whether the DCs are reboot?

  • Trouble with Meeting Requests not coming through - GMail to Exchange

I've just started trying to get a handle on all the thing my wife schedules for me around the kids. I've tried to get her to send me meeting requests so they go on my calendar but a lot of the time they're just not coming through. I get all of her emails and I get meeting requests all day long but there seems to be a problem getting the meeting requets from her.
She has an iPhone 4S and I have an iPhone 5 both running IOS 6.
She has gmail set up as Exchange in Mail on the iPhone.
I have a true MS Exchange account set up on the iPhone
She will create an event and add my work email as the invitee. It will show up on her phone but never come through sometimes.
Sometimes I've noticed that on her phone my name has a question mark next to it in the invite.
    Any ideas? Any direction?
    Thanks

If you have not already done so then Authorise your computer with her Apple ID then you can play and sync this content to your phone

  • HT1692 iOS7 Calendar freezing when attempting to accept/decline/maybe a meeting request from Microsoft Outlook Exchange... (iPhone 5s)

My iOS7 calendar on my iPhone 5s continually freezes when I attempt to accept/decline/maybe (respond in general) to any invitations that come through to the device... The main ones I get (so the ones I am experiencing the issue with) are from Microsoft Outlook Exchange Account (also synced through Mail app).
I have attempted to go via the emails I receive with the invitation and the device freezes when attempting to action the request through the Mail app also.
I'm hard reset the phone, I've removed and re-established the account in the phone, but nothing fixes the issue. It might work for one or two invitations, but it will start freezing again without a pattern...
This is a real pain, because these meeting requests etc are for work meetings and interviews!
    Thanks guys!

We are seeing a similuar issue here at work on serveral devices.
Using Lotus Notes for mail and calendar
    iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S
    Running iOS 7
When an email comes in for a meeting invite if you click on the Date and Time in blue it will walk you through opening the invite in your calendar and then I can Accept/Decline without issue.  If you click on the Invitation icon, which seems to be what users intuitively, in the the email then it freezes up the mail app., see image below.

  • Spam & Virus Blocker / Exchange 2007

I have been running the Spam & Virus blocker for a month and love it. I'm in the middle of an email server migration (Ex2003 to Ex2007). I wanted the blocker to start forwarding (SMTP route) to my Ex2007 box instead of my Ex2003 box. The blocker continues to tell me that my Ex2007 box is down (Monitor - Delivery Status) and no mail gets delivered. If I bypass the blocker, mail gets delivered to Ex2007 just fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Problem solved, it was an ID10T error. I was asking the blocker to SMTP route to my domain controller and not the Exchange 2007 box. Once I realized my mistake, I put the correct server name into SMTP route, and it works perfect.
