Exchange 2010 management tools and others

Win2k8 domain, Exchange 2010 servers
We want to move to Win8.1 but we, the admins, are preventing it because our tools like the Exchange 2010 Management tool doesn't work with Win8.0 so we're stuck with Win7.
I've googled around and most suggestion never worked.
Does Microsoft have any plans at all to have Exchange 2010 management tools and other tools we use to manage our domain work with Win8.1?

Hi Rino,
Thanks for your sharing and efforts put on this issue.
This will benefit others who encounter the similar scenario as yours.
Happy holiday~

  • Exchange 2010 - Management Console and Shell Very slow

    Heya
    I have an Exchange 2010 SP3 enviroment, with 2 HUBCAs and 5 MBX servers.
    This servers were 2008 R2 standard, and they were working fine.
    This weekend, in order to configure DAG, i upgrade 3 of them to server 2008 R2 enterprise with dsim. Is not the first tiem i do this, and never had problems before.
    After the upgrade, the server started fine, the mailboxes, the database.. everything fine.. except, de mmc and the shell.
    Both, the mmc and the shell wont start. It gives me the winrm error, but because a time out.
    I have installed the installed the iss-winrm feature, delete on regedit and %appdata% the "cache" for the management console, checked the firewal... and nothing worked.
    Well, thats not true, in one of the servers, the Management console started working fine, but the shell, it connect, but every command i launch it takes like 10-15 minutes to execute (for example, a get-mailboxdatabase).
    In the other,, no the Management console, no the shell connects, i get a winrm timeout.
    I dont know were to continue cchecking why happens this, just started after changing the 2008 R2 from standard to enterprise
    Thanks for the help!!

  • Error when trying to install MS Exchange 2010 Management Tools Windows 7 x64 SP1

    When I try to install Exchange 2010 Management Tools on my Windows 7 Pro x64. I get the message ExSetupUI.exe has stopped working? Has anybody else gotten this message?  It doesn't even load into the install screen. It is stopping before then.

    Hi
    Have you installed the admin tools for windows 7 and all the prerequisites? Try running the setup from an elevated prompt or "as Administrator"
    for ref:

  • Silent install of Exchange 2010 Mangement Tools (SP2)

    Hello,
    i am trying to create a silent install of Exchange 2010 Management tools.
    I created a batch-file :
    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:IIS-WebServerRole
    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:IIS-WebServerManagementTools
    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:IIS-IIS6ManagementCompatibility
    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:IIS-Metabase
    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:IIS-LegacySnapIn
    "share\Exchange 2010\Exchange2010-SP2-x64\setup.com" /r:MT
    Problem is that this "MDT-application" needs to run as administrator (i tried to run the .bat-file, but it need administrator run).
    Howto do this in MDT?
    Problem 2: by the process of "copying files" the installation is stopped without error or message.
    Any other working options to install the Exchange Management Tools unattended by MDT?
    Thx

    There is an easier way:
    Under command line in your application settings, enter the setup.exe (not the batch file located on the network) with the appropriate parameters for silent install (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997281(v=exchg.141).aspx).
    Under the working directory, put the network UNC path containing your source files.
    If you look in the task sequence you can add a new step (I typically add this under System Restore > Custom Tasks); under the category of Roles there is a "Install Roles and Features" step.
    You can then just check the boxes for each individual role and feature you wish to have installed. I typically make a couple of different task sequences for server installations and based upon their designated function when put into production. This
    process uses the servermanager process as opposed to using dism, so there is no requirement for changing account privileges, it just runs as administrator on the local machine.
    You then add a second step after the role configuration step to install an application (located under General). Change the radio button option to Install Single application and when the dialog for which application to add is shown, choose your Exchange Management
    Console application.
    Now it will run automated (as long as you specified all the appropriate prerequisites in the roles and features) and you eliminate the need to try to sort out batch files and privilege escalation, etc.

    Hi,
    To install the Exchange 2013 Management Tools, there are many prerequisites we need to understand before installation. And even
    we must manually install some required software.

  • Forcefully delete user's "Deleted Items" from Exchange 2010 Management shell ?

    After migration from Exchange 2003 to 2010 my organization's some user can't delete items from their deleted items folder, it generate a error message so how can I forcefully delete user's deleted items from their "Deleted Items folder" from
    Exchange 2010 Management shell ? Thanks
    Babu

    Hi Babu ,
    Based on my knowledge i have given some suggestions please have a look in to it.
    1.We cannot use the search-mailbox command specifically for any folder in the mailbox.But we can use it for a whole mailbox.Below is the command which will copy the entire contents of the mailbox to the target folder called as "backup" .
    Search-Mailbox -Identity "problematic mailbox name" -TargetMailbox "test mailbox" -TargetFolder "backup" -LogLevel Full -deletecontent
    Note : Before executing the above command , please execute the below.
    New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "Import Export_Enterprise Support" -SecurityGroup "Enterprise Support" -Role "Mailbox Import Export"
    Once the above command is executed then you need to add your admin account to the security group "Enterprise Support" and then use the Search-Mailbox command to copy the entire items to the target mailbox and also it will delete all the copied
    items from the original mailbox.
    2.Another one option is to use the MFCMAPI tool to force delete the items on the deleted items folder.
    Most importantly before doing all the above , please share me the error message what your users are facing while deleting the items from deleted items folder.
    Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

  • Installing Exchange 2013 management tools

    I am unable to install Exchange Management Tools on other server in network. I am getting error when trying to run unattended setup "exchange server.msi failed. Fatal error during installation. Error code is 1603. Last error reported by the MSI

    Hi,
    Please try the following cmdlet to solve this issue.
    set-executionpolicy unrestricted
    If this doesn’t work, please try to copy the
    ConsoleInitialize.ps1 from a working server to this server then reinstall Exchange management Tool.
    If this still doesn’t work, we should consider to re-download  Exchange Server 2013 Management Pack from this
    site, then try to install.

  • Exchange 2010 Management Pack Data Warehouse Synchronization Fails

    Hi Everyone!
    Has anyone had success with importing the Exchange 2010 management pack into Service Manager 2012?
    When we try to import it, it fails.
    Upon further investigation, the 'System Center Core Monitoring' management pack (which is not included with Service Manager 2012) is a dependency of the Exchange 2010 management pack but
    after we import it from the OpsMgr 2012 media, we still get the following warning when we import the  Exchange 2010 management into Service Manager 2012...
    "The management pack was imported successfully.
    Warnings (1):
    Override verification failed, cannot find Management Pack Element : : Cannot find ManagementPackElement [Type=ManagementPackRule, ID=Microsoft.SystemCenter.Agent.MonitoringHost.PrivateBytesThreshold] in management pack ManagementPack:[Name=Microsoft.SystemCenter.2007,
    KeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35, Version=6.0.6246.0]."
    ...and, the Exchange 2010 management pack status in the Service Manager 2012 Data Warehouse 'Management Pack' view indicates 'failed' after the MPSyncJob completes.
    We have a few 'Business Services' which depend on the Exchange 2010 management pack that we are trying to synchronize from OpsMgr 2012 and we are stuck until we can get the Exchange 2010 management
    successfully imported into Service Manager 2012 and have it show a status of 'Completed'  the Service Manager 2012 Data Warehouse 'Management Pack' view.
    Nothing useful in the
     Service Manager 2012 Data Warehouse and Management servers events logs that we could see.
    Any help or guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Regards,
    JJ

    Update: I Just tested with CU2 installed for SrvMgr 2012 and OpsMgr 2012 and version 14.3.38.2 of the Exchange 2010 management, but the management pack still fails to deploy to the SrvMgr 2012 data warehouse (the management pack status shows
    up as 'failed' and the MPSyncJob shows the management pack as 'pending association').  The only clue I have for this problem is the folllowing warning which occurs when I import the management pack into SrvMgr 2012...
    I also get the following 33519 Event ID warning in the Operations Manager event log on the data warehouse server...
    ~~~~~
    Management pack association ignored. This does not require any action. If you continue to frequently see this warning, contact your administrator. This process will continue to retry.
    Management pack ID: e2296ed5-ddbc-ebc7-3881-c5288adaa7cf
    Management pack name: Microsoft.Exchange.2010
    Management pack version: 14.3.38.2
    Data source name: SRV
    Message: Either the MP has failed deployment Or any of its references has failed deployment
    ~~~~~
    Has anyone had success with getting the Exchange 2010 management pack imported and successfully deployed to the SrvMgr 2012 data warehouse?
    The good news is that even though the Exchange 2010 management pack has a status of failed, the distributed applications in OpsMgr 2012 that depend on the Exchange management pack now show up under Configuration Items/Business Services including
    all related service component objects which was what I was trying to accomplish in the first place, so for now I'll just leave the Exchange 2010 management pack in the data warehouse with a failed status.
    Regards,
    JJ

  • Real-world experience with Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5+ and Powershell 4?

    The support-ability matrix for Exchange (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff728623(v=exchg.150).aspx) says Exchange
    2010 SP3 RU5+ and Powershell 4 are compatible.  But, there is very little actual discussion about how well that works.
    I use Powershell extensively for mission critical and somewhat complex processes, with Exchange 2010 on 2008 R2 and AD access/reads/updates.
    Can I get a summary of the caveats and benefits from someone who has actually done this in a
    real-world/production scenario (more than one server, managing from a separate non-Exchange server), and who has scripting experience with this configuration?
    Also, how has this affected EMC operations?
    As always thank you in advance!

    I believe the matrix states that its supported to install Exchange into an environment where __ version of WMF is present.  Exchange 2010, launched from a Win 2012 server, reports version 2.0 when you call $host.  For example, calling the ActiveDirectory
    module from EMS on an Win 2012 server (ps 3.0) fails.
    I'll double check the extent of this scenario and get back to you.

  • "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."  Trying to format my iomega external HD for use with Mac

    Hi. Trying to connect iomega ext. HD. i have to reformat for Mac. When i plug in & go to Disk Utility,the external shows up and i'm supposed to click "partition". When i do, a box comes up saying ""Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility." I quit and relaunched, same results. After googling my question, i came up with this:
    "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
    (Quitting and reopening Disk Utility does not help.)
    The following also appears in Console log:
    *** malloc[419]: Deallocation of a pointer not malloced: 0x290a410; This could be a double free(), or free() called with the middle of an allocated block; Try setting environment variable MallocHelp to see tools to help debug : for architecture i386 object: ./Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes malformed object (unknown flavor for flavor number 0 in LC_UNIXTHREAD command 27 can't byte swap it)
    Workaround
    Quit Disk Utility.
    From the Finder's Go menu, choose Go to Folder....
    Type the following, then click OK: /Library/Receipts
    Temporarily remove these iTunes receipts from /Library/Receipts (sort the folder alphabetically as a list):
    iTunes.pkg
    iTunes4.pkg
    You can put them on the desktop, for example. Do not remove iTunesX.pkg or iTunes Phone Driver.pkg.
    Open Disk Utility and repair disk permissions again.
    Quit Disk Utility.
    Put the removed iTunes receipts back in /Library/Receipts.
    Note: This issue does not affect Disk Utility's verify or repair disk features.
    All seemed good, for a moment, until, upon going back to Disk Utility after removing itunes4.pkg and putting on desktop (i did not have itunes.pkg to remove) the same thing was happening. When i highlite my iomega ext. on left of page, disk perrmissions is grayed and does not allow me to click on it. Same problem from the start. Can somebody please help me out here? That would soooo awesome. Thanx!

    i'm just scared i will do something wrong on my own and lose my data.
    You shouldn't be scared of that, because you should already have backups. If you don't have backups, then backing up is the first priority.
    Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and restart. When you hear the chime, hold down the C key and keep holding it until the Apple logo appears on the display. You should now see the language selection screen. Select your language, then choose Utilities > Disk Utility from the menu bar. In the Disk Utility window, select the external drive (not the internal). The drive may already have a data partition, in which case there will be another icon below the drive icon. Choose the drive icon, then select the Partition tab. Create a single partition with the default options (GUID partition table, Mac OS X Extended Journaled).
    When the partitioning is done, select the startup volume on your internal drive in the DU window. Select the Restore tab. Drag the icon of the startup volume to the "Source" field. Then drag the icon of the newly-created volume on the external drive to the "Destination" field. Make sure you have this right. Then click the Restore button, and the data on your startup volume will be copied to the external drive.

  • Exchange 2010, UCC SSL, and the "new" CA/BROWSER Forum not issuing for .local

    I don't know how many people have run into this yet, but the CA/BROSWER Forum, the "standards" authority for SSL issuing, has mandated that CA's can no longer issue a certificate using a FQDN "intranet" name for new or renewal SSL certificates effective
    Nov 1, 2012.  i.e. the Microsoft standard of mydomain.local will no longer be accepted as a SAN on a UCC for Exchange 2010.  I've looked thru the KBs and Social forums, but haven't really found any guidance on how to solve this.  I'm presuming
    that the certs will have to be split and the "external" domain name of server.mydomain.net will just become a single server SSL, and the internal name of server.mydomain.local will become a Self-Signed certificate.  With the increasing prevalence of OA
    and ActiveSync devices, is there any baseline guidance yet on how to make this happen without completely fouling up production servers and killing access to the user community?

    On the same topic, though likely different environment...
    Against recommended deployment, I have a number of clients running all their services on one box.  Windows Server 2008, Active Directoy, DNS, Exchange 2010 ...and so on.  These servers all have .local addresses, which means of course that the SAN
    certificates have .local addresses as one of the SANs.
    I've read alot online about this issue, and am trying to find the most cost effective solution to switch numerous production servers running this configuration.
    The best solution I've come up with so far is...
    1. Virtual AD with new external domain, 2. Migrate Exchange CAS to this domain, 3.  Reconfigure network through the box.
    Obviously these steps will contain alot more details, but this is just the outline atm.  At best, I see me having to take a second box with me to each location to perform these steps, and I can't see it happening without disruption to the work flow
    of employees.
    Thankfully, all of these businesses are relatively smal...under 25 employees.  Still, I'd like to find the smoothest transition solution possible.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • In Adobe Flash CS6, I have a blue box appearing around lines drawn with the line tool (and other tools like brush etc). I can't figure out how to disable.

    In Adobe Flash CS6, I have a blue box appearing around lines drawn with the line tool (and other tools like brush etc). Whenever I try to use a tool,  a blue box appears around the line and I have to double click it to manipulate it, which opens just that line in a semi burred screen where all the other objects are semi-grey in the background. I can manipulate this line in this screen but nothing else at that time which I could do about 5 minutes ago. For exampe, I no longer can join up 2 lines drawn by the line tool together. For some reason this started randomly (probably due to a accidental shortcut combination) and I just can't put it back to what it used to be. I have inserted a video hopefully showing what I mean. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you - Just what I needed

    How to get tools and other bars back in view after deleting show-bar?

    Hello Jouko.
    You can go into View > Toolbars and select the ones you want to see. If you can't see the menu bar you can simply tab ALT on your keyboard (I think F10 works too) to show it.
