Exchange mail account not getting deleted - Iphone froze

Exchange mail account is not getting deleted if i try it and
it frozes the iphone.
Switch off the phone and restarting doesn't help
Same thing happens when you try to change contact off in exchange mail properties.
I have 3G iphone with firmware 2.1

I have the same or a similar problem - after my update to the firmware on friday, i have intermittent ability to download email.
i have 4 accounts on my phone - a mobile me account, 2 accounts through Cox servers, and my exchange account. I was able to download from all accounts just once after updating the firmware 3 days ago.
The Cox accounts are the only ones that work - and only sometimes. outbound emails become phantom emails and go nowhere.
I lost the domain information in my exchange account. when i go in to update it, it freezes and won't save the new domain or let me leave the settings screen unless I hit the home or sleep/wake buttons.
i tried deleting the exchange account to recreate it, but it freezes on that.
I lost my calendar entirely.
i had to resync my contacts.
this is worse (much worse) than before the firmware fixes.

I am reading a mail from using java mail from my mail server.
When i am setting the message.setFlag(Flag.DETELED,true);
the mail is not getting deleted from the server.

One of my POP mail accounts is suddenly not working - I click on the inbox and it shuts down. Any suggestions?

Try these as needed:
1. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
2. Delete and reinstall the account
3. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
4. Restore as a new iPhone

Accessing Exchange Mail Account on Mac vs iPhone

Hi Everyone,
I have an iphone and mac. I have entered my companies exchange information into my iphone and everything works fine, mail, address book and calendar. It was actually very easy.
I've now added the same account to my mac. When i set it up, mail set about syncing all my folders, including sent/deleted items. I have an unlimited amount of mail storage on my exchange account and mail synced everything and i mean everything, some 10GB of mail. It has not eaten up my entire months allowance of data.
I'd like to better understand how this works. Am i correct in assuming that my iphone only accesses the information as I need it from the sent/deleted items folders? I'm wondering my my mac synced everything, but my iphone seems to manage the process much more efficiently.

ditto what KT said...the passcode requirement enables the encryption of the local storage of your device and auditing of that policy ..it protects your organization AND you from potential data loss and a mandatory reporting obligation..imagine how miserable it would be to see the name of your organization on the front page of your local newspaper with a story about data loss....every IT and risk management department's worst nightmare

Msn mail account not syncing with iPhone 4

My msn email won't sync with my iPhone 4. It used to, but ever since the apple upgrade I've lost the ability to use my email through my phone. I can no longer send emails, look at emails that are moved to specific folders, or move emails to any folder (no folders are showing up except junk or trash).. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the mail and have gone to a Verizon store for assistance only to be told after an hour of them looking at it, that they had no clue how to help me. My email is completely useless on my phone and that is unacceptable. How can this be fixed?

Email delete on computer (Exchange) not getting deleted on iPhone 5s

Using a Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display and OSX 10.9 (Mavericks), when I delete or move an email on the computer it's not getting deleted or moved on the iPhone 5s (IOS 7). I upgraded to iPhone 5s yesterday from iPhone 4 (IOS 6). (The mail was working properly on the old phone.) I looked for, but didn't find anything in "Settings" to fix the problem.
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, my boss has a similar problem.
When he deletes email on his iPhone it re-appears after a couple of seconds. That is the iPhone is not really deleting email from the Exchange Server.
Here's the rub. We just got him a new iMAC and he's running Fusion so that he can get to his Outlook "Notes", which Entourage doesn't support.
So...he has Entourage open on the iMAC and Outlook open in Fusion.
If Entourage is closed down and he deletes email from the iPhone, it IS deleted from Outlook/Exchange and doesn't reappear.
However, if Entourage is OPEN, regardless of whether Outlook is open or not, the mail is NOT deleted from Entourage, causing it to reappear on the iPhone.
Obviously the solution is not to use Entourage so I guess that's what we'll have to do until we can do a complete conversion to Apple and use Apple Mail on OSX. Alternatively I'm exploring using Google mail instead of Exchange.
I'm afraid there isn't a good solution to this problem?

Sounds like the Activation Lock is still set to the previous owner. If you are unable to get that Apple ID and password that iPhone is totally useless to you.
Take it back to the shop and demand your money back because they sold it to under false pretenses.

I have just setup an exchange mail account on my iphone to acces smy business emails and many of my settings have defaulted. As an example, my passcode has defaulted to a minimum of 6 digits and my phone will erase all data after 10 failed attempts. These are now greyed out and I cannot change them.
Is this a default set by Apple/Microsoft?
Or was this a setting enforced by my company, whose mail exchange I am accessing?

There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that. You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.

Unlikely. But nothing is impossible. Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)

If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.

If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

OK, let's come back to the original issue; how are deleted messages retrievable?
First, is the account set up as an Exchange account or a POP account? I'll assume it's Exchange. If it were POP the answer is obvious.
If it's an Exchange account are you deleting the messages from the phone or from some other computer? If you are deleting them from another computer they will not be removed from the Trash folder on the phone until the phone next syncs AND the Trash folder is opened. But this will take time. You can force the Trash folder to sync in near real time by going into Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars, tap on the Exchange account, tap on Mail Folders to Push and check "Deleted Items". Note that doing this will result in increased data usage and reduced battery life.
If I haven't described the situation tell me what assumptions I made that are incorrect.

Since it is a company phone ask your IT guys to set up the email account for you.

Yes. You can't update or restore any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. If you want to update, you need to get a sim card.
