Exchange / Office 365 / windows 7 / Windows Security

I am receiving almost every 2 minutes or so a message from WINDOWS SECURITY asking me for the password of my exchange email account. how can I dis-activate this?

Hi,
Based on my research, here are some troubleshooting methods you can refer to:
1. Repair your Outlook profile:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2847916
2. Check the connectivity by the ExRCA:https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
Office 365>Microsoft Office Outlook Connectivity Tests
Additionally, since it’s Exchange online server, I recommend you ask for more professional help on our Exchange Online forum:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/msonline/en-US/home?forum=onlineservicesexchange
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

  • Synchronization office 365 and windows 8.1 mail app fails

    Hello all,
I have a Dell XPS duo ultrabook with Windows 8.1 enterprise. The laptop is part of a domain. We use Office 365 for our mail-environment. Office 365 works perfect in a browser, but I want to ad that work-mail account to the mail app in windows. Connecting
works fine, but the synchronization fails. I get the following error:
"If you xxxxxx want to synchronize, the settings of this PC should match the security policy of the email-server. Upgrade your Windows-useraccount to an administrator-account".
This is ofcourse not an option, but how do I solve this?
Btw the mail app works fine with a hotmailaccount.

    Hi,
According to your description, you are using office 365.
So I recommend you post this in Office 365 forum:

  • Help! Office 365 and Windows Server 2012 R2 (Essentials) no longer communicating

Hi - I have had this problem beginning November.  From what I can tell, it started after I applied a Windows Update patch of the latest Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant.  Now when I go in to the Windows Essential Dashboard, where I have
my domain linked with Office 365 for business, the "Microsoft Online Account" area shows as "unknown".  I have tried removing and re-adding the assistant but to no avail.  I have read some clue that the version should be 7.250.4259.0
but I am unable to find the download locally or online.
Additionally, the area of Office 365 does not show my Org, Domain, Subscription or exchange online information.  However, when I click "Link a Domain" it is recognizing that I have already done so.  Again, everything worked great until
    this blasted update.
We are a school and I need to be very careful not to break/disconnect the Drive Shares of the "Cloud" component as that's how students access their files.
I did see this link from NEO YU but am a bit nervous as my knowledge of AZURE is near null.

  • Outlook Hangs - Loading Profile / Add Account Stage - Office 365 on Windows 8.1

I have been using outlook via the Office 365 offering for a year. Then 2 days back suddenly my outlook stopped downloading mails from my mail server. It did however send mails.
I went online to check the various causes and after following lots of advice I did all of the below actions:
    1. Making sure the OS and Outlook 2013 are installed with the latest updates.
    2. Performing a clean boot and trying to open outlook and add account in that mode
    (it stops responding)
    3. Deleting OST file
    4. Deleting profile
    5. Running outlook in safe mode (pressing Ctrl while starting up outlook) and trying to add account
    (it stops responding)
    6. Completely uninstalled office 365 with the fixit tool and then reinstalled
I ended up with Outlook not loading at all. None of the above steps have worked.
If I directly start outlook, it hangs on loading profile.
I have opened control panel, searched for "mail", opened that and deleted profile, then created new profile. After that when I try adding account, it hangs (stops responding) at that adding account stage as well.
This has started suddenly, till 3 days back everything was absolutely fine.
In another forum post, opening Outlook in safe mode was marked as answer. As stated above it has not worked for me.

    Hi,
Definitely this seems to be an issue when loading the profile, I've seen many people resolved this problem by disabling hardware acceleration in Office.
Since it's a global setting, you can disable it in Word, Excel, then it will also apply to Outlook.
For example in Word, go to FILE -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Check "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" -> OK.
We can also configure this through GPO or registry, more details can be found in this article:

  • Office 365 Pro Plus Security Update User Permissions - Sccm

I plan to deploy Office 365 Pro Plus using Sccm 2012. My configuration setup file has this line Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="Share" .  My users are not local administrators of their workstations. If I update the office
share with a patch, will my users have permissions to install the update? If not then how will my users get updated?
    Steve Bender

    Hi Steve,
Yes, with this confirguration, every Office 365 client will automatically check updates from the update location configured during setup - "Share", in your case.
You should make sure that it's a share (like an internal UNC or HTTP path) that every Office 365 client has permission to access.

I have 50 users on a onsite exchange 2010 server. It is time for new hardware and I am suggesting to the client that we move to a hosted solution. We are 100% outlook/word/excel. Love outlook. Our current outlook version is 2007. Time for an upgrade for sure. Few questions.Backups with a hosted solution. Do you just use the archiving/legal hold/vaulting service? I love Google Apps. If my users only use exchange for Outlook email and calendars, do you think i could get away with doing Google Apps instead of Exchange/office365?If I go Google Apps, in terms of support I am probably screwed with teaching/forcing them to use Google Docs? If you have trouble with the Wi-Fi coverage in your home, it is most likely because of where the router is kept. The range of a typical home router is around 100 feet.

  • Windows 8.1 Mail app does not sync with the Office 365 account

My company has recently switched to Office 365. Windows 8.1 Metro Mail app does not work with Office365 account. When I switch to IMAP it works but that is soon going to be disabled and is not compliant with the company policy.
I can add the account and it also pushes the security policies but it does not sync email at all. Says account is not available. The tablet shows up on the mobile devices on the office 365 and I could also remote wipe it.
It seems everything works except basing email sync. What could be the issue?

  • Cannot connect to Office 365 using Powershell on Windows 7 SP1

    Hi,
I was trying to connect to Office 365 using windows azure active directory module for Windows Powershell.
    $Cred = Get-Credential
    Connect-MsolService -Credential $cred
It failed on my windows 7 machine with the error
Connect-MsolService : Unable to authenticate your credentials. Make sure that your user name is

This issue happened in Windows 7 SP1 OS.
But, when I tried the same thing on a Windows 2008 R2 VM, it connected successfully.
This means that the account I was trying to login does have the permissions.
Both the machines ( windows 7 and windows server 2008 R2) have the following pre-requisites installed:
Install Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39267
Windows Azure Active Directory Module for Windows PowerShell (64-bit version)

  • Can I run Windows Office 365 through VM Fusion on my Macbook Pro?

I need to utilize an Outlook 2013 for Windows feature not available on the Mac 2011 version. Specifically, I need to download messages from Dropbox and open and save them with attachment in native .msg format.
Has anyone had any experience running Windows Office 365 (on Windows 7 or 8) through VM Fusion?  Potential client is very specific about this feature and it's a non-negotiable.
    Thanks, Suzanne

I use Office 2012 running Windows 7 Pro under Parallels, so I'n GUESSING that it would work just fine under VM Fusion.
I've encountered no problems whilst running Windows or any Windows-only apps under Parallels. The same should apply under VM Ware as well.

    Hi,
To narrow down this issue, please take your time to collect some information:
Does this happen to message sent to an individual, to a domain, or to a network?
Does it happen for messages sent to recipients within your organization, or to recipients at other domains?
What do the SMTP protocol logs show when attempting to send the messages?
    Refer to:

Try to stop and restart the Exchange Transport service to check this problem.

I just configured this MP in the environment using the following references:

In addition I've configured the Office 365 Subscription Proxy secure reference.
When looking in the SCOM console I only see one error:

The monitor oversees the availability connection to Office 365 API EndPoint.
    Causes
An error state is caused by having issues with connecting to Office 365 API EndPoint. It can be caused by:
    • Issues with global connection to Office 365 API EndPoint
    • Credentials for Office 365 Subscription's account are not correct
    • Office 365 Subscription's account is not allowed to getting data from Office 365 EndPoint API
I've verified that the account is able to log into the server, has the _identifier, and global admin permissions in the Office 365 admin console.

  • Office 365 calendars not showing

I'm running Version 8.0 (2032.6.1) of iCal on Yosemite. My main calendar is hosted on Office 365.
There was a problem with duplicated entries in the calendar, which actually meant that iCal would crash on startup. I fixed that by deleting the duplicates with temporary access to the Windows version of Outlook. As part of trying to get iCal to work again, after the repair of the calendar, I removed the various caches and .plist files, as recommended on various sites. Now, I'm in a slightly strange state in that the Exchange (Office 365) account isn't listed in the iCal list of accounts, and entries for that calendar are not showing, it is still in some way connected, because the application icon shows the number of outstanding entries.
What is the best way of restoring visibility of the Office 365 calendar in iCal?
I've tried deleting and re-adding this account, but it hasn't helped.

Hi All, after much trial and tribulation, this works for me on BusyCal. It is an app you can get on the apple store.
Calendar should be created then shared with the busycal user. The link does not work, but add exchange account as you would on  Mac Calendar under preference>accounts. The go to the sharing tab and  click plus and type in email of person who shared calendar. It will auto populate. For some reason it does not work under delegation in Mac Calendar
The  key and where I spent 4 days on the phone with apple and office 365, is  that the owner of the calendar has to share their calendar, named  :"calendar" They can just click the permission "show availability only."  Once they do that, any other calendars they have created and added you  as full permissions or details, you can see. I see nothing on their  calendar called "calendar"  Not the perfect solution, but it works. BusyCal is $30
If this does not make sense feel free  to message me or I will respond here.

  • TS4463 I have just installed office 365 and now icloud will not work.  It says that I need to open or install outlook.  Before I installed 365, ICloud worked  and I believe I had Outlook loaded yet it is not there any longer.   I am lost.

I just installed office 365 Home Premium editiion and have lost my ICloud capabilities.  I cannot sign in nor will Photostream work.   A message comes up that says I need Outlook on my computer (I had it before  the 365 was loaded).   I checked on-line and it says that windows 7 does not support outlook and that I cannot download it (don't know how I got it before).   I am totally confused as what to do.   Really upset as I needed the new office package as Windows 7 wouldn't support the 2010 started edition any longer without my buysing that.  Figured it made sense to get the newest version.  Packaging says that it contains outlook.   I don't know what to do at this point.

Did you remove the existing installation of Office before installing the new one?

Outlook is part of Office 365, and Windows 7 supports all versions of Outlook back to 2003.
I am totally confused as what to do.
You need to correctly remove all versions of Office on your Mac, you need to remove their settings as well. You need to save your Office Userdata from removal by moving it temporarily. I would also uninstall iCloud.
Then reinstall Office 365 followed by iCloud.
