Execution profiler, etc.

Hi,
I have a performance problem with an application, deployed on 9iAS. ( servlets, JSP , no EJB - all in home made Model 2 framework )
I've managed to start execution profiler session from JDeveloper, but didn't get any valuable outcome out of it, because I'm confused in interpretation of the results.
( lack of knowledge )
I need either an advice or reference to some documentation on the matter ( the one in JDeveloper is pretty scarce ).
Thanks!

I recommend viewing the profiler demos at
http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/viewlets/viewlet-archive0903.html
As well as following the hands on tutorial for IDE at:

  • CVI Execution Profiler not showing (need registry cleanup method)

I have installed CVI 2010SP1 / CVI 2012SP1 and Execution Profiler Toolkit and even though I call the function CVIProfSetCurrentThreadProfiling(1)/set profiling in build options, at the end of the program run, the Profiler does not show up. I tried to uninstall and reinstall all CVI+Runtime (except device drivers which are mandatory to be kept the same), but this did not solve it. Please tell me which registry setting or registry cleanup tool I have to use. Thank you.

    Hello razvan.ioachim,
I think I might have more suggestions for you. Did you try to open the profiler from Start > Programs > ... etc? Did you try to redirect the profiler output to a file?
If none of these suggestions work, your machine may be corrupted. The issue might not lie in the registry, but in a system dll or other component. We might be able to suggest a few registry keys that might hold invalid data, but that is going to take some investigation and might not yield the expected results.
In the end, you might have to format your drive and reinstall Windows...

  • Custom Transaction Types, Subject Profiles etc...

    Hi all,
Did anyone worked on custom Transaction Type on SDCR?
I know that this is CRM specific stuff to configure, but want to check what are the implications in modifying exisiting SDCR..  Well, in the meanwhile, we need to work on custom Code Groups, Subject Profiles etc..
What is the impact on upgrades if we modify the SAP defined Transaction Types SDCR?
Please correct me if I am wrong in my approach.
    Response is greately appreciated.
    Regards,
    Mike.

    Thanks for response.
I tried to copy and modify the subject profiles, catalogs etc.  I could able to create Change Request with the custom transaction type, but not able to authorize the change request.  And I am using SAP defined action profile for custom transaction type.
And also little bit confused how to attach the custom change request to support message (we need to select the action item "create change document").  It seems there are lot of modifications to be done all the way from support message to urgent/normal correction.
    Please advice.

  • CVI Execution Profiler - DLL overhead

    Hello,
I'm using CVI execution profiler toolkit to analyze performance in system where a implicity linked DLL is called from an application exe.
It appears that in many of the statistics the component time % for the exported DLL function is roughly half the overall time for the component.
For example (with 'dll_function' selected in profiler):
    +exe_function
    -dll_function                         50%
    DebugPrintf                48%
    OtherFunction              2%
Would this time coorelate with overhead of calling the DLL?
Thank you for any help in regards to this.
    Solved!

    Hey jharris,
I ran one of our simple examples and saw somewhat similar behavior--my GetUserEvent function takes about 66% of the time and the DLL function takes 33%. In my case, this simply means that the code is spending more of its time running the GetUserEvent function than in the DLL function. I'd expect this, since the GetUserEvent function is checking for UI updates.
Is your exe function doing something other than just calling the DLL function, and do you see the other 50% of time anywhere else in the execution profile? If so, I suspect that it's just indicating that only half of your execution time is spent in the DLL function.

trying to import photos and copy as DNG. Nothing will upload though. Permissions are all accurate, saving to the right profile, etc. Nothing has changed on my computer but it will not let me import new pictures. Also, updated the software and some images say "preview cannot be seen" and some don't. And when I try to import and I hit "new photos" it's all the photos on my card. My brain is about to explode.

It said something similar where the thumbnails were supposed to be.
Just got the newest edition of LR, 4.4
4.4 is not the newest edition of LR
We don't want to know that it said "something similar", we want to know the exact wording. In fact, you ought to state the exact problem you are having, in detail, instead of saying you are having the same problem.

I have not been able to copy and paste in firefox for the last two months. Hi Gary,
I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please  heck if the following reg key exists:

If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.

  • Problems with print and colour profiles etc in CS4

This is driving me round the twist. until recently all was fine, but lately everything seems to have got screwed up. I am trying to print images produced in Corel painter, which have been placed etc into an .ai artboard. (CS4)
No problems until recently, but now there seems nothing I can do to make it print accurately. There are so many colour and print profile choices available, I don't know which to pick as there doesn't seem to be a default.
The screen image adjusts to any profile or colour management settings I change, but the actual print image never bares any relation to that screen image.
Work I have printed previously,( and have not adjusted settings for )without any problems at all.. are now printing inaccurately.
I'm using a Canon MP640 inkjet printer by the way.
The same is true with printing from PS and any other application.
I haven't made colour settings through Bridge for all adobe apps' as none of them so far seem to be accurate.
Even if I saave an image to pdf or jpeg, and print from preview, it still comes out with the colours badly changed.
Please, please help.. I can't work this out and I have got to print!!!

    willspring,
Just to make sure: As I understand it, things worked in CS4, not only in earlier versions.
To reset settings in Illy, you may Move the folder, but it may not solve the issue (the simpler but less thorough resetting being to Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup).
Have you made any changes, such as printer driver or whatever, between success and failure?

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 8.0.1, it is hanging when I try to open it. Deleting profiles etc. doesn't help. I suspect the problem has to do with caching or history, since when I first quit after upgrading I had to force-quit as it was hanging.

'''bold text'''MacOS 10.5.8 is my operating system.
There is no actual crash, thus no crash ID--it just hangs forever and eventually I force-quit.
    Restarting the computer hasn't helped
Downgrading to previous versions didn't help.
Deleting profiles and preferences doesn't seem to make any difference.
    Apparently clean re-installs hasn't helped.
If option-opening is really safe mode on a Mac, then that isn't helping, either. It's the same hanging.
No problems are being noted with any other software.
    I'm totally stumped--what else can I take off for a cleaner re-install?

Firefox hangs the same way in safe mode.
There is no such thing as a Firefox program folder on a Mac, nor is there an "uninstall" to do, so these directions are not relevant to a Mac user.
    The problem remains.

  • Exported Raw Conversion Image Resolution and Assigning a Color Profile, etc

In Aperture 1.1, although I set the exported Raw conversion image resolution to 300 dpi in the preferences, it continues to come out at 72 dpi which is something of an inconvenience. Also, is it possible to assign a color profile to the "exported version" so that it is congruent to my PS CS2 color workspace (if that is what its called). Is this program capable of carrying out a conversion as a background operation? Finally, can the layout windows be configured so that they remember how they have been used in the past? Thanks.

    Iatrogenic huh! Cool!
Anyway, I'm not real clear on what it is you are trying to accomplish. Despite your obvious vocabulary skills, there seems to be some disconnect relative to what you are trying to accomplish. You are right that "exporting a version" in Aperture is roughly equivalent to what happens in ACR when you "Open" a RAW image into Photoshop. In both cases you have, hopefully, already done the adjusting of parameters you want prior to "exporting", or "opening". When you "open" or "export" you wind up with an "image" composed of pixels, whereas in the RAW adjustment phase you are just working with a temporary thumbnail and a set of mathematical instructions. Big difference, I suppose is that when you "open" and image from ACR into CS2, the resulting image is truly just pixels and has not had a "file type" applied to the file yet, until you "save" it, while in Aperture, if you "export" a file to CS2, or to the desktop, you end up with the file type already applied. Presuming you "export" a 16 bit TIFF or PSD, there is no operational difference.
I could be wrong, but with the new Bayer Demosaicing algorithms in Aperture 1.1, and the Camera RAW adjustments, you should be able to come up with an adjusted image that is VERY close if not identical to one done in ACR, with the possible exception of lens abberation adjustment. I was very critical of the RAW adjustments in 1.0.1, but I am very happy with the capabilites in 1.1. That said, I think there is still some room for improvement in user friendliness of some of the adjustments such as Levels.

  • Colour profiles etc. workspace & pdf

    Hi there
I know that there will always be a difference between onscreen and printed results. Although I would like to know what are the best settings to avoid a huge difference between the bright and colourful colours I get in InDesign when working on the file, and the final result CMYK-pdf that goes to the printing company? Sometimes difference is so big...
Are there special Adobe (or other) tools to avoid this huge difference between InDesign workspace colours and CMYK-PDF?
And is it recommended to use for example the ColorMunki calibration for a MacBook Pro?
    Thanks a lot!
    Bob

And is it recommended to use for example the ColorMunki calibration for a MacBook Pro?
Hardware monitor profiling will help with overall display and soft proofing accuracy, but won't change the realities of color gamuts. If you are choosing out-of-gamut RGB or Lab colors they will have to change when they are converted to CMYK values.
If you want to work with RGB colors it's a good idea to turn on Overprint or Separation Preview while you work, which will preview the eventual conversion to your document's CMYK space. The document's profile (Edit>Assign Profiles...)  should be the correct profile for the destination press—the CMYK profile affects the softproof accuracy.
RGB also has a gamut limit—100% cyan cannot be accurately displayed, so some CMYK blues will print with more saturation than a soft proof even on a well calibrated display.

  • Taking Dump of Ports, Partner Profiles etc before Client Deletion

    Hi,
Let me firstly tell you about the requirement.
I need to delete a 9TB client using TDMS. And then re-create it again for users. Now the problem is , that the Partner Profiles, Ports will be deleted when I delete the client, which I cannot afford to loose are there are a lot of them.
So, what is the best way to take a dump of the ports and partner profiles and other relevant things. I tried taking the table entries into transports and thought of re-importing them. But I'm not sure what all tables will be there as there are many like :
    EDPP1 (general partner profile),
    EDP12 (Message Control),
    EDP13 (outbound parameters)
    EDP21 (inbound parameters)
Partner function exists in table TPAR
Outbound process code exists in table TEDE1
Logical message type exists in table EDMSG
Process code exists in table TEDE2
What is the table for Basic Idoc type
Port is defined in table EDIPORT  but where is their assignment to the Logical Name its not in this table.
There would be so many tables that are interdependent and I don't wanna loose even a single one of them.
Please advice the best option,  as I am nearing the deadline to delete this client.
    Your help is really appreaciated.
    Thanks.

  • Interaction between Distribution model, partner profile, etc.

    Hello,
I am a newbie in the SAP world, and I am a little bit lost in the behavior of the Outbound Processing (the send of an IDoc to an external non-SAP system).
Actually my question is how the following components interact during an outbound process :
    - RFC Destination
    - Logical Port
    - Logical System
    - Partner Profile
    - Distribution Model
    - SAP Gateway
    - IDOC Repository
    - ALE Service
Currently, the only thing I think I have really understood is that the RFC Destination allows to hide to SAP the Program ID of the registered external server...
    Thanks a lot
    Sebastien

For each logical system and each basic message type (for example, LOIBOM), a unique message type has to be defined by reducing the original one (for example, MYBOM).
If you reduce a message type, only the obligatory fields are automatically selected. You must select those segments and fields you want to have transferred. Fields that have not been selected for transfer always contain the value "/".
    Maintain partner profile
Each of the message types of the customer distribution model (see above) must be assigned to the partner profile. Enter the receiver port (see above), package size, output mode and IDoc type in the detail screen of the receiver port. You must also define whether the IDocs should be sent immediately, or if they should be collected first.
    Maintain customer distribution model directly
First define a customer model for a logical R/3 system. The displayed list shows which logical system is the sender and all the possible receiving systems that have been defined. "Create message type" defines which logical system receives information from the logical R/3 system.
When maintaining the customer distribution model, you usually add all (reduced) message types that should be sent from the R/3 system to the external system.

  • Pixma Pro-100, ICC Profiles, etc

I'll try to make a long story short.  About 5 months ago I bought a Canon T3i camera.  Didn't like the prints I got at department stores, bought a PIxma Pro-100.  Did some more research, realized I need to calibrate my monitor, bought a Datacolor Spyder Pro 4.
My question(s) are about the software used to get the prints.  I don't have PhotoShop, and I don't want to buy it.  I have PaintShop Pro, but realize I can't use that.  My computer is Win7.  I don't know cameras, but I've been in IT for 30 years.  I know computers.
I am not pleased with the prints I've gotten so far.  The colors all look weak (for lack of a better word).  Everything I've read about the Pro100 says the colors should be rich (saturated).  Mine are not.
I first tried the software that came with my camera.  Digital Photo Professional.  It works with the Canon plugin, Print Studio Pro.  It seems that it recognized, or loads, the ICC profiles for the Canon paper I use.  It doesn't seem to recognize or give me the option to pick an ICC profile for my monitor.
I called Canon support.  The guy I talked to recommended Easy-PhotoPrint EX software.  Said it should have come on the CD with my Pixma.  It did not.  That software does not use the Canon plugin.  And seems more limited.  He said it works well with Canon cameras.  Honestly, he seemed like he was BS'ing me the whole time.  If you don't know the answer, it's ok to just say so, is my feeling.
Ok, it turned out to be a long story.  Can someone help me?  This printer I have does not measure up to everything I've read about it.  I've spent a bunch of money to get good prints from my Canon camera.  I don't have that, not even close.  What do I need to do??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The answer depends on how you are printing. If you use Canon Print Studio Pro it does all the appropriate adjustments after you pick the option in CPSP.
If you are printing from photo software there will generally be an option to either let the printer manage the printing or have the software manage printing. In the software managed printing option you would choose paper profiles in the softwarer and in the printer driver set color management to None.

  • Migrating profiles etc..

Hi, there's a lot of info about migration but this is a bit more specific:
If i have 2 synchronized environments and I want to make changes to the profiles (update, remove, add new) including the Standard Check-in in box 1... what's the best way to do migrate this content to box2? what if I want to migrate all but one profile?, would cmu migrate all the profiles and be able to leave out the profiles I don't want? would it remove all i have in box 2 and replace with that of box 1? maybe there's a better way than cmu? archiver? ....
    Same question for roles/groups/accounts.
    Thanks,

When you use CMU, you have the option to overwrite or ignore duplicates. If you overwrite, the entire profile/rule is overwritten; there is no "sit on top". CMU just creates a bundle that you create from box1, and then you have to manually upload and "install" on box2. Everything on box1 remains the same, and will either be ignored or overwritten on box2 .
If you want to be save what you have on box2 just in case, create a separate bundle for that before you upload the one from box1. Or, you can simply backup and/or copy&paste the profiles and rules directly from the file system; they're simple .hda files that sit in /data/profiles/document directory of your install.
