Export a Forms Library Item to Word or Excel for editing
We are using MOSS 2007 and using InfoPath 2010 I created a Forms library to enter new items in a web-based form.
The requirement is to be able to open a list item and save it to an editable Word or Excel file - without using programming, if possible. Questions:
1. Is there any way to do that without using InfoPath Filler, non-programatically or programatically?
2. If InfoPath Filler is required, can it be installed as a standalone application - and what is the cost (I saw somewhere it was free)?
3. We use Office 2010 and 2013. When I open the item in InfoPath and select "Export to Excel" I get an error message that the Export to Excel feature requires Microsoft Office Excel 2003 or 2007, telling me to install Excel
and then try the feature again. Is there a way to get it to work with later versions of Excel (2010/2013)?
Hello Roci,
>The requirement is to be able to open a list item and save it to an editable Word or Excel file
1. Why you want to edit in word/excel? You can directly open and edit the form data in browser itself, that what infopath form works. You don't need any additional tool to update browser form in sharepoint.
2. Infopath filler is not at all required in client machine to edit/update infopath browser form data.
3. How you are opening item in infopath form? export to excel is additional feature for infopath form which can be set from form option menu. Could you please tell us exact error message?

How to create another form library item in Infopath?
Hi All,
I have a Infopath form library and submited a new item successfully. But my requirement is, when i update the same item then it should submit as new item in that form library. How to achieve this in? Thanks in advance!Hi Sam,
According to your description, after updating an item, you want to save it as a new item in the Form Library.
In SharePoint Form Library, the items with names are not allowed to be created. In this scenario, after updating an item, a workaround is that you can submit the item
as a new Form Library item with another name.
To save the current editing item with a new name, we can use a formula to generate a date time string as the “File name”, then each time user submits an updated item,
there will be a new form created in the Form Library.
Here is the related formula I use in this scenario, you can change the formula according to your requirement:
The same Form Library items are submitted with different File Names based on current time:
Here is a link about adding a submit data connection, you can use it as a reference:

how can I export the contact book data to a csv file for editing?
You can edit a card right in Contacts. No need to export and re-import.
Select a name and on the right side, click the Edit button: -
If i upgrade to maverick will i lose my microsoft word and excel for apple
If I upgrade to maverick will I lose my installed Office Word and Excel for Mac
You shouldn't, but it would be a really good idea to make a clone of your existing installation using Carbon Copy Cloner before upgrading. That way if you have any issues with Mavericks it's very easy to go back. Without the clone it's a lot more difficult.

I hope I've got the right thread...
I've got a G5, OSX 10.3.9 I haven't got either Word or Xcel on my computer, my last computer G4 came with both Word and Xcel installed on it, but sadly not the G5, can I download the full packages for both for FREE? I'm a student and need Word for college and having to rely on the PCs at college is not ideal when I want to work from home but I can't it is so infuriating. Is there a costly price to get both applications for a Mac?
Can you help pleaseWord and Excel never came free with any machine. Their Test drive might have come free, but not the full software. As a student, you can purchase the Office Student Edition. You can also try http://www.neooffice.org/ for an alternative to Microsoft Office, or Think Free Office which is around $50. Appleworks is also available, though not as compatible with Office formats as the former two.

Transcoding form VOB format (DVD) to other format for editing.
Hello,
I've copied the content of a DVD the MPEG-2 VOB format, and I have to editing with that material. I was thinking of transcoding in a other format to work the edit. In what format I can work with in an easy way but keeping the best quality ?
Thanks for you attention !but I never heard about loosing more quality in transcoding.
Then you don't do this much. Codecs are COMPRESSED formats. That is part of their name...CO...compression. DEC...decompression. Whenever you take a compressed format and convert it to ANOTHER compressed format, you lose image quality. Because compression is a way to throw away certain bits of information yet keep the image looking decent. Going from one format of compression to another...so different bits of information are thrown out...causes loss in quality. So if you transcode and transcode and transcode you lose information every single time. So you get loss in quality.
Always have.

Changing behaviors on library items
I currently have a header as a library item. The buttons all
have pop-up menus and I am trying to edit them. I used the help
through Dreamweaver and it said to open a page that contains the
library item and detach it - make the changes then re-save the
library sections. I tried that and when I click on the "Shoe Pop-up
Menu" on the behavior tab I get the following error message:
While executing inspectBehavior in Show Pop-up Menu.htm, the
followinf JavaScript error(s) occurred:
At line 492 of file "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\Behaviors\Actions\Show Pop-up Menu.js"; TypeError :
T.update is not a function
Can anyone help with this? What does it mean?A well-formed library item cannot have a behavior *in* it. It
can reference
a behavior with a call to it, e.g.,
<a onClick="MM_swapImage....
but it cannot actually CONTAIN a behavior. Why? Because that
would mean
that it would have to have <html>, <head>, and
<body> tags and Library items
just cannot contain those. Why? Because since a Library item
is inserted
into another page, if it contained those tags, they would
then be duplicated
on the other page.
So - your Library item is not well formed, i.e., it's broken.
> buttons all have pop-up menus
> and I am trying to edit them.
This is the worst possible situation. You have a broken
Library item, and it
contains an even more broken menu system. Is it too late to
reconsider
here?

hi , I am in need to provide a link to sub webs provisioned when an item is added to form library.
hyperlink has to fields 1. Value for url 2.text to display text
but it always displays url in form library item.
Ahsan RanjhaHi Ahsan,
Sorry for the late reply, we can update the "Project Link" url and "Project Link text" in a workflow variable in a Hyperlink field format ([Project Link], [Project Link Text]), and then update to another Hyperlink type column
in this list, then it should show the url as expected as hyperlink field in InfoPath form.
Note: There is a blank space after the comma in the hyperlink field format.

Export problems with pages/ save as word document results in corrupted text
This may be a new problem with Pages as I have not seen this happen with previous versions but, when I export a page made with a template, it ends up with merge problems - headers end up at the foot and invisible text regarding merge showing. When saved, a error box opens saying that merge fields are not save or similar, and I end up with a non friendly .doc file.

No Behaviors with Library Items?

That's correct. All behaviors must be applied BEFORE the
library item is
created. A well-formed Library item cannot contain
<html>, <head>, or
<body> tags, and therefore has no place to put behavior
javascript or onLoad
events.

Library Item update in XSL page.
This has more than likely been asked before, but is it a known bug that Dreamweaver (my version is CS4) doesnt update a Library Item if its included in an XSL file?
Do you have CSS rules defined in the Library item? A well
formed Library
item must never contain CSS rules, or <html>,
<head>, or <body> tags. Does
yours?

i have created a template and on the side i have a list of
links that i change regularly (not in editable region). I dont want
to upload all my files everytime i change a link in the list, so i
thought a library item would be the go. However, when i update the
file it changes the template and it updates every file, that means
i have to upload all files. My question is, should i put the
library item in an editable region on its own, or what.
thanks> My question is, should i put
> the library item in an editable region on its own, or
what.
Whether you use a Library item or just a Template for this
will not affect
the workflow of -
1. Make a change
2. Upload all changed pages
What you would want to use if you don't want to have to do
that would be a
server-side include (SSI) (use DW's F1 help to read about
them). In this
case, your navigation would be in the SSI fragment file,
which would be
either in an editable or a non-editable region of the
template (use the
editable region approach in the event that you might want to
have different
navigation elements on different pages, and the non-editable
region approach
if you will not have different navigation elements). Then,
when you might
want to change navigation, just make the change to the
fragment file, upload
it, and magically all pages reflect the change.
When you use server-side includes, there are at least two
files involved:
1. The parent file
2. The include file
The parent file (the one RECEIVING the included file's code)
must be named
with a file extension that triggers a server parse to find
the include
directives (e.g., *.shtm(l), *.asp, *.php, etc.). Of course,
the extension
would have to match the server models supported by a) your
site definition,
and b) the hosting server. The include file (the code
fragment file) may be
named with any extension you desire (we joke here about
naming them with the
'monkeybutt' extension, since that extension name is
irrelevant to the
function of the file itself). HOWEVER, if the include file is
named with an
extension that DW doesn't recognize, then you will not get a
Design view
option when the file is opened.
For this reason, it's best to just name your include files
with the *.htm(l)
extension. Alternatively, if you *really* like
'*.monkeybutt', you can add
this extension to the list of file extensions that DW
recognizes -

Library Item: Where is the Library Item feature in Dreamweaver CC?
I recently downloaded my trial of DW CC. I've looked in the Assets Panel, but I have yet to find where the Library Item feature is?
Thanks for the tips. You have to define and Save a library item before you'll see it in your site's Assets panel.

Exporting photos from iPhoto - using in Word
I'm trying to build a Word document using some of the photos in iPhoto. Using the "Export" command in iPhoto and selecting jpg format I export the desired photo to a folder on the desktop. So far so good. Preview opens this file as does most other applications. But if I use the "Insert Picture from file" command in Word (or Excel for that matter) and navigate to the photo I just exported and select it, I get an error message that says
"This application cannot open this file. This file is an unsupported graphic format or may be damaged. Try opening the graphic in another application"
The rub is that I just tried this with one photo and it inserted fine! Now when I try it with the others I get the error message.
Is there a work around to this does anyone know?
MalcWSorry for delay in replying - I've been on travel. The only way I seem to be able to consistently paste pictures into Word is to use Photoshop Elements 3 to simply open the jpg file that has been exported from iPhoto to a folder and then save it again. Interestingly, when I do this the icon - previously only visible as a generic jpg icon becomes a "mini-photo" icon. That's the only difference I can see.
I have tried dragging the original iPhoto exported jpg from the folder on the desk top into Word but the photo usually just pops back again - i.e. it won't paste. (Except that about 1 in 10 photos WILL paste! - and there's no obvious difference in the files - all were taken by the same camera on the same card and imported into iPhoto at the same time! - weird!)
Photos that won't paste this way produce the same effect if I use the Insert Picture command from Word.
I haven't tried dragging direct from the iPhoto window because the files are too big - ~3MB a file. In using the Export command I resize the file down to around 50-100kb and paste that. Although having said that the quality seems a lot poorer than I'd imagine for even a 100kb jpg file. (the quality in iPhoto looks good - most photos are taken with a Nikon D70s SLR).
I agree Word is hopeless - even once I get the jpg files into Word they often seem to have a mind of their own as to where they want to go - and I've lost count of the number of "Unexpected quits"!
It does seem odd that this is inconsistent and maybe Word is at fault. I do wonder though whether iPhoto 4 is not consistent in the way that it exports images? Don't know - probably should have updated to iLife 5 - although maybe in a few hours iLife 6 will be available! -
Active Content solution with Library items
Does anyone know how I can get Adobe's Active Content
solution (the Multiple Occurrences one) to work with Dreamweaver
Library items?
It works fine for inline <object> tags, but when pages
include Library items (which have the same solution applied to
them) it doesn't apply the fix to these items.
Thanks.yeah, its annoying. i just made a suggestion for a ¨purge¨ command in the ideas section.
i´ve managed to clean my library, had to delete one by one though and it took forever.
