Export Image Sequence with Layers Intact

I don't really care if the final format is PSD, TIF, PNG...something else? All I need to be able to do is export my main timeline so that each frame = 1 file, and whatever was on that frame contains the equivalent hierarchy of object frames and child objects that appear for that frame - all with the layers intact in the final file. Seems like it shouldn't actually be that complicated a procedure should it?
I need to be able to create/sketch animatics in Flash to utilize all its unique features like nesting of timelines, then when finished export it for other artists to then take each frame and work with the elements in both photoshop and after effects, cleaning it up with nicer brushes, and creating additional animation and camerawork. Basically Flash is a great way to animate/sketch content and figure out what you're doing, but the others are better for polishing and making it look nice.
Can anyone help with this? If it doesn't exist is it something someone could write a plug-in for?

    Hello
I'm looking how, like in after, I can export an image sequence with a starting specific number. I spend hours to rename images with Renamer, boring, stupid!

Use Bridge.  You can do them all at once with Batch Rename.

  • How can illustrator cs5 export a file with layers intact?

When I try to export my cs5 file to a psd file to preserve the layers, I get the
warning: "not enough memory" which blocks it. The original file is only 17 megs
in size which is not real high. Help please

You have choose a lower dpi, or remove any stray elements outside your artwork that make your bitmapped canvas size larger.
You have to also export to CMYK .psd for layers, as RGB Export does not allow layers to be written.
If you need more DPI than, you can chop your file in half, and reassemble in Photoshop.

  • Export multiple frames of a composition with layers intact

I'm working with lower quality video and after many headaches with codecs I finally started using image sequences so I could do editing in photoshop then bring it into After Effects.  Now I want to go the other way.  Export an image sequence with layers intact so I can do further editing back in photoshop.
I found this on an adobe help site:
To export a single frame as an Adobe Photoshop file with layers, choose Composition > Save Frame As > Photoshop Layers.
Is there a way to do this with a sequence?

  • Images imported from QT exported image sequence have jagged edges

    Hi
I've come across something strange which I'd like to resolve.
I export an image sequence from QuickTime.
I then import this into Aperture.
But the images imported into Aperture now have jagged edges where there has been any movement in the original footage.
The images originally exported from QuickTime look absolutely fine when viewed with preview, they have the expected blurring on moving objects, but no jaggedness.
    Now, a bit more detail.
The footage I'm exporting from was shot by me and came from a Final Cut Pro edit.
The codec in the QT movie is Apple Intermediate Codec and this is interlaced.
The jagged edges on movement look to me like the problem of interlaced not being converted to progressive.
However the exported images from QuickTime don't display this when viewed in Preview, it is only when viewed in Aperture that the jagged edges become apparent.
I have tried exporting from QuickTime to jpg, png and psd, but the problem is identical no matter which format I use.
I really want to now use Aperture to improve these exported images, but with this jagged edge problem I can't.

    Hi JNorris--
Sounds like you need to apply the deinterlace filter (Effects tab: video filters: video: deinterlace) to the stills your exporting.
See if that makes a difference to start.

  • How to name image sequences with the convention "name.[####].extention"?

Quicktime doesn't seem to respond to the naming convention used in other programs like After Effect or Combustion for naming image sequences when you are exporting the sequence. It does let you put a space before the sequential numbering but this is no good for using image sequences in Maya for example. During the save prompt if we were to save the image sequence as AppleMovie.[####].jpg in these programs we would yield an image sequence with AppleMovie.0001.jpg, AppleMovie.0002.jpg, AppleMovie.0003.jpg, etc. Anyone know if there is a way to do this as I've described?

Open ExtendScript Toolkit this can be found here:-
    PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities
    MAC: <hard drive>/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Utilities
Copy and paste the code into a new window and then save the code to:-
    PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS#\Presets\Scripts
    Mac:- [hard drive]/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS#/Presets/Scripts/
If photoshop was open, close and re-start it so that Photoshop can pick up the new script.
Now you can create an action to run the script and do your save so that this action can be batched.
To add the script to your action:
File - Scripts - select the script (this will add the new layer)

  • Exporting image sequence (tga filetype)

    Hello,
    I'm using Apple® Motion 5.1 on Apple® OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks.
I can only export a project as image sequence with the following filetypes:
    DPX Image
    JPG Image
    OpenEXR
    Photoshop® File
    PNG Image
    TIFF File
How I can export the project as TGA filetype image sequence?
    Thanks.

This is correct, Targa is not an option for export from share in Motion.  My first question would be, is TGA an absolute requirment or preference?  PSD,TIFF or EXR should pretty much be equivelent and and just as well supported in any app that reads image sequences.  If TGA is absolutely required, and you have Compressor, you can use Send To Compressor for share.  Then add an image sequence preset.  Inside compressor you can change the file format to TARGA.
If you don't have Compressor, and again, TGA is an absolute requirment. I'd recomend exporting to tiff and then using a third party app to convert to TGA.

  • How can i create a .mov file from image sequence with different durations

how do u create an image sequence with different durations? image one stays for 10 seconds and image two may stay for 30 and so on. each one has a custom duration. can this be done with an apple script or a text file saved as an mov file?

    Hello Omar,
The example code Programmatic Printing of TestStand Reports - Modular contains a sequence that will convert an XML file to an HTML file given the XML file's path and the path to the stylesheet.  It may need to be altered to fit with the modifications you have already made to the report generation routines, but I think it should definitely get you off on the right foot.  Let me know if you have any questions!

  • Images sequence with png problem

I created an image sequence with png files for transparency reasons. When I activate the interactivity, the original placed image shows behind the image sequence as i interact with it. Anyway to get this to go away other than hiding the intial image?

nope. Transparency isn't well supported in image sequences.

  • Imported PSD files showing up as images rather than sequences with layers

I am trying to import layered photoshop files (.PSD) into FCP 6, but they are not showing up in my browser as sequences with a video track dedicated to each layer, like the manual says they should. They show up instead as still images. It worked once on a previous project, but not any more and I haven't changed any FCP settings or Photoshop settings that I am aware of since then.
If any can tell me how to import them as layered sequences, I would greatly appreciate it!
Please note: I already confirmed the image mode is RGB colour and that the bit depth is 8 as someone suggested in a December 10th post to someone with a similar problem.
    Rookie

Tom W, Meg the Dog & David H,
David H - No, they wouldn't open as sequences when I double clicked them.
Meg the Dog - I confirmed the settings you suggested and noticed that a few of the images I wanted to import were over that 4000 pixel width restriction you mentioned, however, without resampling them, I was able to import them...but only after Tom W's suggestion...
Tom - I'm glad you raised the point about photos edited in Photoshop on a PC versus a Mac. My photos were in fact edited on my PC, and it wasn't until I opened them and re-saved them on my Mac, that I was able to import them as a sequence into FCP. Thank you so much for pointing this out!
Problem solved! Thank you so much Tom W, Meg the Dog and David H!

  • Best Way to Import/Export Still Image Sequence With FCP & Photoshop

I am working on a FCP project and need to fix a couple frames using photoshop.
What is the best method to export to Photoshop, import the image in photoshop, make changes, then export out of Photoshop and back into FCP?
It seems whenever I re-import back into FCP, FCP doesn't recognize that they are individual frames, and instead imports each frame as an individual image file lasting several seconds long. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Forum!
In FCP's preferences, set the Still Frame duration to 1 frame. Locate the clip on the Timeline, set an IN and OUT point and go to File->Export->Using QuickTime Conversion. In the Format menu, choose Image Sequence and in the Options menu, choose the file type (I recommend uncompressed TIFF). Next, create new folder for the image sequence and hit the Save button.
After completing the work in Photoshop, go back to your FCP project and go to File->Import->Folder and navigate to the folder containing the corrected images. Drag the entire folder from the Browser to the Timeline.
If for some reason the duration for each is longer than 1 frame, select all and right-click on one and choose Duration from the contextual menu. Change to 1 frame.

  • Why is my QuickTime Pro exporting image sequences in the wrong order?

I am making timelapse films and using QuickTime Pro to export the images as a movie file. I have all the images in a folder named numericaly. I go file>import image sequence click on the first image and import. The images are in the correct order in the source folder I have also checked the resource files under show movie properties and they are in the correct order there. I then export as a QuickTime movie file at 1080p H.264 the film is stepping and the frames are out of sequence in the eported movie file. Why is this? Has anyone come across this before?

Is there anything else I could try.
Not sure. I would likely test an x264 export of the image sequence from QT 7 Pro or MPEG Streamclip (or from HandBrake if your system is not configured with the x264 codec) and see if the result was any better. This is not a problem I run into very often and, even then, the files were sent to me with no real indication of how they were originally encoded.
Or do you know how I can analise the exported file?
Not really... but it would be nice to have a tool which indicated the current frame type and listed pointers to frames/stacks of frames used for rendering reference.

  • How to render a video from image sequence with custom frame rate?

    Dear all,
For a project i would like to create a video from 47 images with a custom frame rate. To achieve this i take the following steps in Photoshop CS6 extended:
    1) File -> Open...
    2) Select the first image and select " image sequence ". All images have the same size (1280 x 1261 px) and are numbered correctly.
    3) Click open
    4) Frame Rate: Custom 3 fps
    5) File -> Export -> Render Video... -> Render
    6) Play the video with VLC. The video shows a still image of the first image.
If i choose a frame rate of 10 fps, then there is no problem. VLC plays the video as expected.
Is there a other way to create a video from 47 images and choose a custom frame rate? Or what am i doing wrong?

  • Transparency Issue when exporting Image Sequence

    Hi,
I'm creating short anims which have transparency and exporting them as png image sequences.  I'm finding two issues with the export though:
    1)  The first frame is always solid black (when it should be totally transparent)
    2)  The R,G,B channels of each image are multiplied by the transparancy.  So for example if I want a shape that's 50% transparent and coloured red the png should be 255,0,0,127 (R,G,B,A).  In fact what After Effects is creating is a shape that's 127,0,0,127 (R,G,B,A)
Does anyone know what this issue is and how to solve it?
    thanks
    Paul

You should not have any problem with PNG as you have no choice but to have the alpha to straight (it's on of the only codecs that doesn't support premultiplied). Do you have the same problem is you select tiff sequences (LZW compression if you don't have much free space).

  • How to Render a TIFF image sequence with After Effects or Premiere

So I shot a timelapse in RAW using my D5200.  Developed the images, imported into after effects to make a composition at 1080p 24fps, the clip is 15 seconds long.  Then I rendered the clips a few ways and none of them are what I want:
I used the H.264 first, its just pixelated and blocky, doesn't retain a smooth resolution. H.264 output an MP4 that was 6.5 MB.
Then I tried lossless and it output an AVI which is awesome resolution but the file is 2 gigs! Not even VLC media player will play it smoothly without buffering.
Last I tried H.264 BluRay which output an M4V file which is 45 MB and I can't get it to play.
So now I'm here asking you all what the way to go is.  When I download films, I will aim for a 1-2 gig 720p or 1080p file on roughly 2hr films.  The resolution is great, the audio is great and the file like I said is only 1.5gigs average.  So what are the rendering settings I should be using to get a file like this? Should I be importing it into Premiere Pro first or what?
    -Thanks
    Bruno
For Reference, here was my workflow:
I generally followed an Adorama Rich Harrington Time-Lapse youtube video on workflow which was:
Developed the Raw files in Camera Raw
Used the Image Processor to create the Tif files
Imported into After Effects as a TIF sequence
    Interpreted the sequence as 24fps
Changed the Composition settings to 1080p 24fps
Then did the rendering as detailed above

    1. You don't need to export your TIFF sequence so as to import it into After Effects, you can import RAW image sequence into After Effects directly. Camera RAW will start automatically on importing. What is more, you will be able to change your Camera RAW settings at any time you want inside your AE project: in Project panel select your RAW image sequence, right-click, choose Interpret Footage -> Main... In the dialog box click More Options... button (at bottom left), and Camera RAW opens.
    2. Do NOT export to H.264 out of After Effects directly. If you need to export your composition to H.264, export it out of Adobe Media Encoder. Start from HDTV preset. If your goal is to upload your media file on e.g. YouTube, done. If you want to play it back on your computer, but your mediaplayer can't playback it in real time, start to decrease bitrate settings. Keep in mind that modern AVCHD cameras shoot with 28 Mbps, first AVCHD camcorders were shooting with 17 Mbps, YouTube preset in Adobe Media Encoder sets bitrate to 10 Mbps, Vimeo preset - to 8 Mbps.
Choose VBR, 2 Pass so as to benefit from better quality out of smaller file size.
See this The Video Road blogpost on Understanding Colour Processing and benefits of Render at Maximum Depth option.
    3. If you're planning to use your After Effects composition in Premiere Pro project, you can use Adobe Dynamic Link. If your After Effects composition is quite complex, render a Digital Intermediate out of After Effects and import it into Premiere Pro. See this discissuon in AE Forum on some production codecs comparison.
