Export/import buffer swap high

hi friends;
I  am with ERP Ecc6 system.in oracle 10g & aix5.3
I am facing an issue with
Export/import buffer shows a HitRatio 83% and swaps is 1,195,697. can anybody please suggest me how to solve the performance issue

  • Low Hit Ratio for Export/Import Buffer

    Hi,
    Do low hit ratio (less than 70%) for Export/Import buffer causes performance issue?
    I didnt get any Note related to this.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh

    Thanks everyone,
    Basicaly all the buffers(Program/Nametab/CUA/Screen/Genric Key/Single record) has hit ratio around 99% , but for export/import buffer its 60%. which is indeed less.
    This is what i intended to ask, if this low hit ratio for export/import buffer has much impact ?
    Any note if anyone remembers?
    Thanks,

  • Bad performance on system, export/import buffer many sawps

    Hello,
    I have an ECC 6.0 system on AIX with 6 application servers. There seems to be a performance problem on the system, this issue is being noticed very well when people are trying to save a sale order for example, this operation takes about 10 minutes.
    Sometimes we get short dumps TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED or MEMORY_NO_MORE_PAGING but not very often.
    I am not very good at studying the performance issues, but from what I could see is that there are may swaps on buffer export/import, program and generic key. Also the HitRatio is 88% at  buffer export/import, which I think is pretty low.
    I know that the maximum value accepted of swaps per day is 10000, is that right?
    Can you please advice me what needs to be done in order for these swaps to decrese and hit ratio to increase? And also what else I should do in order to analyse and root cause and the bad performance of the system?
    Many thannks,
    manoliv

    Hi,
    sappfpar determines the minimum and maximum (worst-case) swap space requirements of an R/3 application server. It also checks on shared memory requirements and that the em/initial_size_MB and abap/heap_area_total parameters are correctly set with the following procedure:
    /usr/sap/<SYSTEMNAME>/SYS/exe/run/sappfpar check pf=/usr/sap/<SYSTMENAME>/SYS/profile/<Profile name>
    At the end of the list, the program reports the minimum swap space, maximum heap space, and worst case swap space requirements:
    Additional Swap Space Requirements :
    You will probably need to increase the size of the swap space in hosts in which R/3 application servers run.
    As a rule of thumb, swap space should equal
    3 x Size of Main Storage or at least 1 GB, whichever is larger.
    SAP recommends a swap space of 2-3 GB for optimal performance.
    Determining Current Swap Space Availability: memlimits
    You can find out how much swap space is currently available in your host system with R/3’s memlimits program.
    Here’s how to run memlimits:
    From the UNIX command prompt, run the R/3 memlimits program to check on the size of the available swap space on the host system on which an R/3 application server is to run.
    The application server must be stopped, not running.
    /usr/sap/<SYSTEMNAME>/SYS/exe/run/memlimits | more
    The available swap space is reported in the output line Total available swap space: at the end of the program output. The program also indicates whether this amount of swap space will be adequate and determines the size of the data segments in the system.

  • How clean export/import (st02) swaps?

    Hi
    We are facing a big problem in PRD environment, point is, very low PRD time performance and users need to work; checking on ST02 systems shows Buffers "Export/Import" swaps values high ( red ), We were wondering if exists a T/C which help us to clean buffers?
    Thanks your help!!!

    Hugo, (tu hablas español, si es asi hay un foro en español tambien)
    The low performance issue is not just a problem in swaps, remember something, they are cumulative so if your system is up from a long time ago, then is normal that ST02 shows swaps, how high depends on hits to the buffers, how is the hit ratios for the buffers with red swaps?
    If you take down SAP and start it again swaps will disappear.
    If you are experiencing performance problems then it is better to take a look at the ST03N, there you could see if problems are in DB, Network, Presentation server (PC with SAPGUI), process time, etc and there you can narrow the problem.
    Did the server was working right and then turned slow from some time ago? or
    did you do an upgrade to ECC 6.0? or
    is the problem only during certain hours? or
    is only when executing some transactions/jobs?
    With more info we can help you more...

  • ST02 Export / Import buffer and directory entries

    What would cause the number of (Export / Import) directory entries to steadily increase in ST02 until there were none left. I currently have the directory size set to 30,000 and over the course of about 7 days they are all used up and then I have extensive swaps. The swaps are at 1,060,431 after about one month.

    lots of data input through interfaces for example...if the values are too small you have to increase them and checek again until the value is sufficient...

  • Parameter Export/Import is getting too high

    Hi Experts,
                      In our production system the parameter Export/Import is too high currently shown as  95.31 while there is no  swaps occured.Please guide us how can I manage this .
    We are using ECC 5.0 + oracle 9i with patch level  7
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    The hit ratio is above 95% which means it is good. You should not worry about that.

  • Export/Import memory

    Hi,
    what is the difference between Export/Import buffer
    and   Exp./Imp.SHM buffer
    regards,
    dev

    Hi Dev,
    This will be useful.
    Whenever a user session is created during any transactions, objects are created
    in memory. If another user is accessing the same object another copy is
    created in the memory - which means accessing objects is one copy per
    user per session (Session Memory).
    Until before SAP Application Server 6.40 these objects cannot accessed
    by other sessions or other programs. The concept of Shared Memory
    enables to access this memory if the object is not locked by that
    session. SAP Provides a class for accessing shared memories -
    CL_ABAP_MEMORY_AREA. Static methods are available in this class for
    binding a session to the memory area.
    What are the Advantages of Shared Memory?
    ~Data is kept only once in Memory.
    ~The Data will be in the memory as Memory Tables that reflect the
    structure of Database table.
    ~Fast access at Main Memory Speed.
    ~Saves Memory (Saves Approximately 3MB Per user per Session.

  • EXPORT / IMPORT  TO/FROM SHARED BUFFER

    Hello all,
    I am facing a problem with the EXPORT/IMPORT to SHARED BUFFER statements.
    In my report program , I export data to the shared memory.
    I then call a transaction to park an accouting document.
    The BTE 2218 gets triggered in the process. Here the IMPORT works fine.
    Later, there is a standard function module which is called IN UPDATE TASK.
    Within this, the IMPORT statement fails.
    It works on one server but not on another.
    Notes :
    The IMPORT works in debugging mode but fails if I simply run.
    Another point is that the ID used for identifying the shared memory uses sy-uname.
    Can the visiblity of sy-uname in UPDATE TASK be controlled by settings ?
    Any ideas on this ?
    Please don't copy paste the help on SHARED BUFFER etc.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mariano,
    the issue is to due to multiple servers present where SHARED MEMORY is specific for each application server.
    So we export data into shared memory in program A, we have to be sure, that program B or FM which is called in background or update task by program A runs on the same application server
    Here, the problem is when program A calls the program B or FM in background or update it’s a dynamic scheduling to all application server with have batch work processes and not the same application server that of calling program A always, so program B runs on another application server which has different shared  memory.
    Solution will be:-
    To Force program B to run on same application server as of calling program A by
    passing sy-host of calling program A to Function module “JOB_CLOSE” parameter
    name “TARGETSERVER”. OR
    Instead of using SHARED MEMORY we will use DATABASE.
            EXPORT itab FROM itab  TO DATABASE indx(ar) CLIENT sy-mandt ID job_number in programA where job number is unique.
            Then IMPORT itab TO itab FROM database indx(ar) CLIENT sy-mandt ID job_number  in program B Where job number is passed from program A to B.
            Then DELETE FROM DATABASE indx(ar) CLIENT sy-mandt ID job_number.

  • Datpump Export,Import across lower and higher versions

    Versions involved : 10.2.0.4, 11.2.0.3
    Operating System  : AIX 6.1
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Lets say I export a schema in a 11.2 Database using 11.2 expdp .
    Can I import the above dump (11.2) to a 10.2 Database using 10.2 impdp ?

    Setting VERSION=10.2 worked fine for me.
    Since I was curious, I tested taking a table level export dump from 11.2.0.3 Schema using 11.2.0.3 expdp without VERSION parameter. I succesfully managed to import those tables to a 10.2.0.2 schema needless to say using 10.2.0.2 impdp.
    I don't know how this worked . Maybe export,importing from higher to lower version at schema level might fail. Need to test it when I have time.
    This is contrary to Oracle documentation (11.2 DB Utilities guide)
    Data Pump Import cannot read dump file sets created by a database release that is
    newer than the current database release, unless those dump file sets were created
    with the VERSION parameter set to the release of the target database. Therefore,
    the best way to perform a downgrade is to perform your Data Pump export with
    the VERSION parameter set to the release of the target database
    But, anyway I am glad that Oracle's superior coding has enabled me to export,import from higher to lower version.

  • Issues with Export/Import using Database & Shared buffer

    Hi All,
    I have a method that calls a program via a job and I am having issues passing data between the two.
    Note that two different users process the method and program (via job) resp. This is how I am calling the second prog-
    SUBMIT ZPROGRAM
                 VIA JOB     l_jobname
                     NUMBER  l_jobcount
                     USER    i_user
                 AND RETURN.
    I need to pass data from method to  the second program and vice versa and then the method continues its processing with the data acquired from the second program.
    I have tried using Import/Export using database and also shared buffer. What I have found is that most of the times I am able to pass data from method to program. However the job takes a couple of min to execute and I think that the data is not making back to the method in time.
    I have looked at some useful forum links-
    Problem with export/import in back ground
    Re: EXPORT/IMPORT  to MEMORY
    but havent been able to find an answer yet. Any solution? Thanks in advance for your help!
    Liz

    Hi Suhas, Subhankar
    I have tested the scenario without the job previously itself and it works. Thats the reason, i am trying with the job now as my requirement is that I need to change the user while executing the second report.
    Here is an example of my import/export - I am passing the return value from the second report to the first.
    Code in second report-
    DATA: INDXKEY LIKE INDX-SRTFD VALUE 'RET1'.
    INDX-AEDAT = SY-DATUM.
    INDX-USERA = SY-UNAME.
    EXPORT RETURN1 TO SHARED BUFFER INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY.
    Code in first report -
    SUBMIT ZPROGRAM
                     VIA JOB     l_jobname
                         NUMBER  l_jobcount
                         USER    i_user
                     AND RETURN.
    Once Job close FM is executed successfully, I import the values as follows
    IMPORT RETURN1 TO RETURN1 FROM SHARED BUFFER INDX(ST) ID INDXKEY3.
    INDXKEY is having value RET1.
    However Return1 is not having any values in first report. It has some value in executed without the job
    Please note that I have tried Export/import with Database too and I am getting the same results.
    Thanks for your suggestions.
    Regards, Liz

  • Fast EXPORT/IMPORT Question

    I have a 200+ GB Oracle 9i DB on UNIX, many tables have primary keys/indexes/constraints. Assuming nobody accessing/using the DB, what is the best procedure to speed up export/import? Both of these will happen on the same machine/OS and RDBMS version. No RMAN please. Thanks.

    include the following -
    direct=y
    recordlength=65535
    export file on seperate disks to the datafiles.
    import -
    recordlength=65535
    buffer=64M (or higher)
    export file on a seperate disk to the datafiles
    Not many people use recordlength, definately a quicker way to export/import.

  • Backing up using Export/Import & ITL, XML file formats

    Using Windows XP I have reset my default Itunes folder to c:\Itunes (too big for MY Documents\...). then copied everything from c:\itunes to an external hard drive. (I didn't realize the ITL file doesn't move and therefore I may not have a good backup of it.
    Starting with a new computer, installed Itunes, then did a 'File, Add folder to library (with copy option)' from the external hard drive. This restored all my songs but I lost playlists, play count & my ratings.
    I then did an import from library.xml, this restored the playlists, but still no play count or ratings.
    My question is
    1) IS there a better way to backup from Hard Drive to Hard drive? (Maybe all I really needed was the ITL file also?)
    2) what is the format of the ITL file (I am a systems programmer, would appreciate a URL that has detail), what (hopefully free) utility would edit it?
    3) a high level view of the XML file (I know XML)
    4) Where is there complete documentation on Itunes ( a detailed description of export/import would be appreciated)

    Here's my old standard answer for this topic - hope you can find something useful from it ...
    iTunes Music Library.itl & iTunes Music Library.xml must stay where you found them.
    To move your music files, use iTunes to do the work. Don't manually drag them around yourself.
    • change the library location in iTunes Advanced Preferences tab, the new location does not need to exist; iTunes will create it. The new location should be empty of music files. This just sets the location for any new files brought into iTunes; it does not affect any existing files in the iTunes library.
    • Select iTunes Advanced menu, Consolidate Library command. This copies all iTunes music files to the new library location. Playlist & Ratings data is preserved!
    • After it completes (assuming no errors), quit iTunes and get rid of the original files from your previous location. The xml & itl files must remain in the old location, the library location setting does not control the location of these two critical files.

  • PC suite export/import breaks SMS messages

    Nokia PC suite 6.85.14.1
    Windows XP SP2
    Phone 6500 classic connected either by Bluetooth or USB
    just updated 6500c to 4.84 firmware
    an sms message is received and is viewable fine in Inbox
    using the phone I move it to Archive, it is still OK
    I then export it to PC (drag-n-drop to a folder)
    I delete the message in the phone and import (drag-n-drop) back to Archive
    The message is there but it does not show sender name (instead I see the date in the header)
    When I open the message and click message details, I can see that
    To: field contains the actual sender, while Sender: has (no address)
    I tried various things including messing with vmg content (putting same TEL: field to both VCARD entries), but on the import to 6500c, it is the same story - as if the import swaps the sender with receiver and clears the sender field
    Please also note that at all times, when I view the messages in PC Suite (phone browser) they show correct sender field, I just need to see the same on the actual phone
    Is there something I am missing?
    Generally I just need to copy old sms messages from 7260, but when importing them they break as described above. I then tried to export a "6500" message and import it back - with same result. So it appears to be a PC Suite issue rather than anything

    al_lea, thanks, I already thought about that, but as I said to exlucde any incompatibility issues within vmg I tried a export/import of a "native" sms freshly received on the 6500, and it gives the same problem.
    I also tried changing versions to 3.0 manually in the vmg with no luck.
    I'm starting to think the message is actually ok, but it's probably the 6500c software that doesn't display them right. When I try to reply to "broken" message, it does go to sender, even though he is not displayed as one
    it looks like PC suite export or import strips the empty to: VCARD from inside the vmg, which is fine by the standards but 6500c doesnt like

  • Using export/import to migrate data from 8i to 9i

    We are trying to migrate all data from 8i database to 9i database. We plan to migrate the data using export/import utility so that we can have the current 8i database intact. And also the 8i and 9i database will reside on the same machine. Our 8i database size is around 300GB.
    We plan to follow below steps :
    Export data from 8i
    Install 9i
    Create tablespaces
    Create schema and tables
    create user (user used for exporting data)
    Import data in 9i
    Please let me know if below par file is correct for the export :

    I recommend you to change some parameters and remove
    others:
    BUFFER=560000
    COMPRESS=y -- This will increase better storage
    structure ( It is good )
    CONSISTENT=y
    CONSTRAINTS=y

    can have problems with some objects
    FEEDBACK=1000
    FILE=dat1.dmp, dat2.dmp, dat3.dmp (more filenames here)
