Export keyed footage with a Transparent BG ?

HI All,
It's been a minute since I've been over here. Been buried in Blender. LOL. I have forgotten how to export my keyed footage with only my actor on a transparent BG. Anyone? Maybe a screen grab to point out please?

I do not have that option for a drop down. Maybe I somehow (as you elude to) operator error?  Here is two grabs and a recorder of my option here. The pics show vid switch ON in one, and BOTH with Transparency ON. The other is with the vid switch off to show transparency.  The third pic are my options for Templates Edit>Output>

  • Exporting to PDF with Vector/Transparency issues? (huge file)

    Hi folks
I have a 36 page magazine in Indesign which has a lot of illustrator images placed in, some of which have transparency applied.  The images are xmas icons and there are 10 or so on each illustrator file so there are only 3/4 illustrator files placed but they are done many times over within the Indesign file.
When I export to PDF the file size is huge.  154mb.  I am sure it is to do with the vectors/transparency, but dont know how to correct this to bring the PDF file size down.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

To echo Peter's response, 154 MB for a 36 page magazine is not necessarily all that large, especially if the content is graphically rich.
There is some information you are not providing us. For example, how are you bringing in the Illustrator artwork? And with what settings are you exporting PDF?
In the first case, the most efficient way to bring Illustrator content into InDesign is to save the Illustrator artwork as PDF/X-4 and place the resultant file into InDesign. InDesign is more likely to reuse the content for PDF export if the content is placed in that manner.
In the second case, content with transparency can yield very bloated PDF if you export PDF with flattened transparency such as you would get with the PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-3 export settings from InDesign (or for the Illustrator-based imported content, PDF saved from Illustrator with such settings). Again, we recommend PDF/X-4 for PDF export maintaining live transparency and original color spaces with ICC profiles and avoiding the bloat caused by transparency flattening and conversion of RGB to CMYK.

  • How to import pre keyed footage with transparent background?

    Hello
I am working on a small action scene and i am trying to import pre keyed muzzle flask without the black background.
i tryied everything : saving the link to the desktop as " save file as" , making the the optimize video box is unchecked, show advance tools under preferences, i tried different free site like footagecrate, detonation film and so forth. I even made sure all softwares were up to date. Finally i watch all the import video tutorials on youtube and the apple site... i am following all the steps but all footage have the dark background.
I'm really stuck if anybody can help

I did use it for some projects, but most material from Detonation Films isn't pre-keyed.
the few clips I used are simply 'on black' which allows in advanced editors like FC/e to apply a simple luma-key.
for usage in iM, the 'boom!' has to be on blue or green to apply a color-key, like this example:
or, the material contains an alpha-key, then the .mov has to be encoded in some format which does support alpha-keys, as 'Animation'.

  • How can I export m2ts footage with 5.1 audio in PP CS5.5?

    Dear All!
I have a 90 minutes project which made from 4 sequence. Sequence settings are the followings : AVCHD 1080p 25fps square pixels , 5.1 channel master audio.
I made the sequences from avchd file-s, which recorded with Sony HDR-CX700V with AVCHD 1080p 25fps and Dolby digital 5.1 sound.
Right now I finished the project with lots of effects and imported After effects compositions, and I cannot find any setting to create 5.1 sound.
I have Mainconcept codec suite, but this offer m2ts 1440*1080i settings only.( And I cannot configure the mainconcept codec settings.)
Do you have any idea how can I export the project without any degradation, and with 5.1 audio? The original footages recorded with this properties : H264/AVC - top field first - 22.000 Mbit/sec.
    And I use in the project some 720p H264/AVC - progressive - 8.001 Mbit/sec videos.
    Please help! Thanks a lot.

You have to consider a couple of things. Mixing 1080 and 720 material is best done in a 720 sequence, because uprezzing will seriously deteriorate quality, unless you accept black borders. That also means exporting a 720 format as maximum, unless again you accept serious quality loss. Whatever the resolution you choose, exporting AVCHD material to anything else than uncompressed, Lagarith or UT will entail a generation loss and thus quality loss. The best export settings are dependent on your delivery medium. DVD, BD or web.
Since you are working in a 1080 sequence, the quality loss of uprezzed 720 material is not a big issue, apparently, so what is the relevancy of 'the same quality' on export when you have already compromised quality?

  • Best solution in exporting GoPro footages with iMovie???

This is my first time in using iMovie, and I have some doubts about the exporting step.
Starting from GoPro footages made with a resolution of 1080p and a frame rate of 30fps, I created a video with iMovie.
After finishing the project, the easier way to export the movie has been "Export movie" (no parameters to set).
I'd like to know if a better result is possible to obtain using "Exporting using QuickTime...". If possible, how should I set the various parameters? Type of compression,....
    Many thanks!

When I assembled the .mov files in iDVD I ended up with 4.7GB of material which iDVD flipped out on and crashed... Any suggestions for this dilemma?
Not sure if your 4.7GB reference is for the source files or the resulting "muxed" MPEG2/PCM encoded content. In any case a single layer DVD is limited to 4.7 GBs of total content. To be safe, this usually means you are limited to 4.2 to 4.3 GB of encoded movie and/or slideshow content depending on how many and what type of menus you are creating created. Thus, if you are encoding for a single-layer DVD and your project encoded content exceeds the capacity of your DVD, then this would likely explain your problem.
If your project size reference is for the source content being added to your iDVD project, then it is totally irrelevant and you need to concentrate on the total duration of your iDVD and the method of encoding instead of file size. Basically, for a single-layer DVD, only about 60 minutes content can be encoded using the "Best Performance" encode option, 90 minutes using the "High Quality" setting, or 2 hours in the "Professional Quality" encode mode. Thus, if your content duration exceeds the capacity of your encoding mode here, it would likely explain your problem.
In either case, the solution would be to either burn to higher capacity optical media/higher capacity encoding mode or burn your content to multiple DVDs as individual projects at the current media capacity/encoding mode.

  • How to export animated gif with transparent background and glow effect?

I've been having issues lately with creating animated gifs in flash. I finally figured out a way to export a gif with a transparent background but I'm now having an issue with it again because I'm using a glow effect. When the gif is exported the glow effect changes into a very poor quality and becomes less of a glow and more like a solid color. I've even exported a png sequence from flash and put it into photoshop then created a gif from there but I'm still having the same issue. Is there anyway I can properly export this in gif form so the quality is the same as when I test it in flash?
I've provided an image of what my issue looks like and the settings (I've messed around with the settings and this is the best I can come up with) . This is in photoshop but the result is similar in flash. The left one is what it originally looks like and the right is what it will look like after exporting. As you can see as I said before the glow changes into more of a solid color kind of like a border. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

A GIF is limited to 256 colors while a glow effect likely wants to tie up thousands (let's just say 'lots') of variations of tone.

  • Replacing footage with an alpha channel

greetings gurus... I'm working in FCP 5.1 with DVCPRO HD footage 720p @23.98fps. I have an edited sequence of green screen footage that I am happy with. I then keyed out the green from the original source footage and exported that footage with an alpha channel (the background keyed out in AE7). My goal is to open my FCP project and replace the original source footage with the new keyed out footage so that my edit remains in tact but now with a keyed out background. I'm using the reconnect media function in FCP and of course the footage is replaced, but without the alpha channel.
When I import the keyed out footage directly the alpha channel is present; it just isn't present via the reconnect media method.
Any suggestions on how to pull this off?

it may be that for whatever reason FCP is not interpreting the alpha channel correctly when you use the reconnect option. for example, the reconnect option may assume that clip properties are unchanged. this may be esspecially true within the timeline, where instance properties are preserved.
you may be able to manually overcome this by adjusting the alpha channel information in the clip properties window
select one of the reconnected clips (one with the alpha channel from AE) and press cmd-9. see what setting is reported for the alpha channel. if it says None, try changing it to Straight.

  • Exporting synced audio with video for further editing

I'm exporting DSLR footage with synced audio in order to "bake" the audio in. I'm going to bring the export into Prelude to organize and then back into Premiere to edit. What are the best export settings (including target and maximum bitrate) to maintain top quality footage that I'll continue editing?
    Thanks!

I'd go with UT, DNxHD or AVC-I for this.

  • Making footage in CS 5.5 with completely transparent background. How?

The footage is a man speaking. With this man speaking I want nothing else to show other than the man speaking. No background. I want it completely transparent, other than the man speaking. A good example is http://www.videotile.co.uk/ . This footage is going to go onto a company’s webpage. I gather that I have to export the file into a FLV format or AVI. I can either go through After effects or directly to Flash professional. I can get the background completely transparent through After Effects but I can only export the footage as either a SWL file or a XFL file. I tried the SWL file and loaded it up in Flash Professional. I have gone to the “Publish settings and changed the window mode to transparent and published that. Once I save the file as a HTML and open it up, the page is blank? Could someone help me out, would appreciate that greatly.

Transparent video 'overlays' on a web page are usually done in Flash by setting the SWF's stage to transparent (using Flashvars wmode=transparent) - but of course the video file would need an alpha channel and be supported by Flash Player (FLV, not AVI or Quicktime).
Adobe have depreciated creation of the FLV format in Creative Cloud, and using wmode=transparent is strongly discouraged as it forces Flash Player to disable the hardware-accelerated rendering mode.
It's possible to do a frame-by-frame alpha calculation using HTML5 but it's poorly supported and processor intensive. See HTML5 Video with alpha transparency

  • FCP Pro HD: Export talking head with transparency!

I've read through a number of posts about this, but what I'm trying to do is this:
I've shot video of a talking head on a green screen.
    I've keyed the shot.
Now I want to export the movie with the Flash Video Encoder and just get the talking head with no background. The background will be transparent so that when I import to Flash, I can have objects moving behind it.
IS THIS POSSIBLE IN FCP PRO HD???
It seems like everyone points to After Effects for this type of work.

Do not render before export. If you do, you will get the flat rendered output - no transparency...
Are you talking about a FCP 4.5-specific issue?
(I ask because I'm able to export an alpha channel for a sequence, even though it's been rendered, in FCP 5.0.4)

  • 7mins long 1080p footage with transparency placed over webcams image

    Dear All,
I'm working on a flash project, where a 7 minutes long 25fps hd footage (at the moment as a PNG sequence) placed over a webcam's image. Importing the png sequence went all right so far, but when I'm importing the last scene (last 2000 frames) Flash crashes. I guess it's because I've run out of memory (I have 32GB).
Does anybody know a way to
A - import HQ footage with transparency (is there a codec that has alpha and works well with flash)
B - to increase an FLV's max bitrate
C - easily import a large amount of HD images (with transparency) without creating a 30+ gigabyte FLA file
    Thank you in advance!

b (It took an hour to render a 6 min song. Is this normal, even though I've such a fast processor??)
With the number and type of filters you said you've added, that length of time doesn't sound out of the ballpark.
b I then placed the widescreen mask over the top of the nest. (FCP will only allow a max of 2min worth of graphics, so I copied it 3 times to fit over the whole song)
FCP has a wide screen matte filter that can be found in the EFFECTS tab in the Browser. It works by cropping the picture and the width and border (if needed) can be varied. You just drag it and drop it on top of the clip or nest in question.
b I then placed the widescreen mask over the top of the nest. I didn't have to render the mask and it played back fine. Unfortunately at each point where the mask met it caused a jump in frame on the nested track below.
You may have been able tyo watch the effect in real time, but it still needs rendering to play back 100% properly. The jumps you were seeing were most likely artifacts of RT viewing and would most likely have not been there after a COMPLETE render.
b A friend of mine has suggested exporting a Quick Time ref clip (not self contained) then importing it back into FCP.
This is one way of working and consolidants everything into one file. As long as you import this into a new sequence and keep your original, you can still rebuild anything you want by going back to the original sequence.
Finally, If you are doing any colour correction at all, you should be looking at a properly setup broadcast monitor to see what you are doing. Using the computer screen as a reference for colour is going to leave you very dissapointed when you view the final output on a television screen.
    Good Luck

  • Bringing Premiere ultra keyed footage into after effects with key intact

It there a way to bring in footage I keyed using Premiere ultra into After effects? I much prefer the ultra keyer over anything native to After Effects CS5.5. If not, how do I export and keep intact the aplha channels from the keyed footage into after effects? Thirdly, if I have to, how do I remiove the black background I get as a result of a default quick time movie file?

You can not export a clip with alpha from PPRO.
Easiest way is just doing the key in Keylight - AEFX ( which is far more powerful and flexible than Ultra Key . As good as it is, it has its limits)

  • How do I export a keynote slide to pdf with a transparent background?

I use Keynote for creating figures for a report I'm currently writing and layouting in Adobe InDesign.
Unfortunately I have run in to a quite annoying problem.
Because of the page-layout and background graphics in my main report, I need to be able to export the figures without the white background which comes as standard. I tried to remove the background in "Master & layout" (my Keynote is in Danish, not sure if it's called the same in English), which is suggested to bring background transparency when exporting to Quicktime movies. I doesn't seem to have any effect when exporting to pdf though.
When importing the pdf's into InDesign the figures comes up with a white background instead of the wanted transparent.
My choice of pdf over png is because of the vector graphics.
Is it possible to export to pdf's with a transparent background?

One option would be to export the slides as image files and bring them in Pages in that format.

  • Problem with PDF 1.3-Export: Photoshop-Files with transparency over InDesign colored objects

    Hello!
    I'm using InDesign CS6.
    I'v finished now a layout for a folder, and I put a photoshop-image with transparency over a InDesign-rectangle which I have filled with a cmyk-color in yellow.
When I export a PDF with the Settings "PDF X-3:2002" (with PDF-Standard 1.3) the Photoshop-image shows uggley jagged edges at the border to the InDesign-colored background. However, the Photoshop-images which are over another bitmap-image (as background), this images don't show this annoying edges.
When I export to PDF-Standard 1.4 the problem doesn't occor, however my printing-service requests PDF 1.3.
I know, the workaround for this problem is, to replace the yellow background-color with an bitmap-file with the same color, but is there any other option to get a correct result without this more time-consuming image trick?
I think it has to do with the transparency reduction which is necessary if using PDF 1.3. When I examine the PDF-File in Illustrator, this edges occurs mostly at the borders from the tiles in which the image is cut during the transparency reduction process. Although, if I open the rendered PDF in Photoshop this jagged edeges are visible, so it is definitly a render error.
I would be glad if someone of you has a solution for this problem, in the attachment is an image which illustrate the problem.
    Best wishes

    Find another printer.
End of problem. It really saddens me to think that these Luddites are
still in business making no effort to move into the 21st century.

  • How can I export a file with transparent background?

    Hi all,
I know InDesign doesn't allow to export a PNG file, but I need my file to be in image file format with transparent background.
I'm still learning so I am stuck here. How can I export a file with transparent background?

If you can't get the PNG file export to work, you can export a pdf and open it in Photoshop, from there you can save it as whatever you like.
