Export Settings Dialog

I think the Premiere Pro team needs a better promo guy.  There were at least two really awesome new features in CC7 that never got promoted.  And now with the 7.0.1 update, the second best 'fix' aside from the multicam issue is that the Export Settings dialog now remembers it's size after closing.  Up until CS6, we could set the size of that window and it would always open at that size.  CS6 broke that, and once you closed Premiere Pro, the damned window would open at it's default, 'way to small' size and we'd have to resize it again.
That same bug carried over to CC7, but it seems the patch has corrected it.  YES!!!  Even after closing and relaunching Premiere Pro, the Export Settings keeps the size it was when I closed PP.
Man, that should have been the very second item on the list of fixes/features, instead of nowhere to be found.
(It's funny how the little tings can tweak some people just right, and the joy that comes at a resolution. )

Not sure why you're not running into it in CS6, ShooterNZ. Did you fully close and relaunch PPRO between tests? It's not enough to just use Close Project or Revert.
Well I would have discovered it it my 2 years of CS6 and I never ever had to touch the Window - in any version for that matter.
My test was I had Prem CS7 open when Jim posted so   I "exported" to check the Window.
I closed out of CS7 and opened CS6 and did the same.
AME Export Windows were identical size and postion in the screen both ocasions.
FWIW - I run the full Premiere GUI on a single screen and the second monitor screen is dedicated to Full screen playback.  ( Then BM sdi to a broadcast monitor)

  • Please help me with export settings and format

I'll try to explain my problem the best I can. I recently captured some footage from old VHS tapes to use in a Christmas video. I imported one of the MPGs that I captured to AE and applied a grain removal plus a couple other lighting effects to the video to improve the quality as well as I could. When I went to export it (through the render que) I found myself confronted with a huge amount of format options and after doing some reading online thought a Quicktime .MOV file with Photo JPEG compression would give me a reasonable size video but after doing the math (an a bit of the rendering) realized that my 2 hour video, that was originally only around 6GB was being converted into a .MOV file that was around 80GB, which is too large for my HDD. Now, I would love to go out and purchase a 1TB SSD right now but I can't currently afford it. I need to end up with a file as close to the original file size as possible but with the grain removed, and the highest quality (for the file size) and just need to know the best settings to use to accomplish that. I looked around for several hours and couldn't find a quick and easy answer like "just export a MPEG 2 file" with ..... settings. The file is going to be imported into Premiere for final edit with several others that are probably going to need the same adjustments. It will then be exported to a 1080p BluRay (with an HD photo slideshow). Also I am using Production Premium CS4, if that makes any difference.
Any quick tips about the grain removal effect would be greatly appreciated as well. I'm currently using a removal amount of .8 with the effect running 6 passes. I also changed the texture setting under "fine tuning" to .4.  It's a little blury but MUCH better than grainy, and about as good as I can expect from a 25 year old VHS. If you've used this effect before and know a couple little tweaks I could apply to make the video a little sharper (without the grain) that would be amazing.
    Thanks in advance.

The file size is defined by bitrate. The winners among production codecs regard to 'quality / render time / file size' ratio, DNxHD and ProRes, utilise almost identical bitrate: up to 440 Mbps while encoding with 4:4:4 colour subsampling and up to 220 Mbps while encoding to 4:2:2. Do some math, and you'll end up with 90-200 GB/hour.
So, the only option to save on disk space is to utilise highly compressed codec like H.264. With target bitrate set to 100 Mbps (you can set the bitrate in the Export Settings dialog) the quality loss might look affordable (don't remember if you can encode to Level 5 on CS4 though).
If you eventually choose H.264 (working with which on CS4 might in turn result in a nightmare), do not export to H.264 from AE directly. Export to H.264 via AME...

  • I'm confused by Export Settings- Match Sequence Settings

I’ve created three sample sequences that are all NTSC 720x480 16.9, but each has a different Fields setting (Lower, Upper, and No Fields).  When Exporting (File->Export->Media), the CS5 manual states the following for the Match Sequence Settings feature:
To automatically export a file from a Premiere Pro sequence with settings that exactly match the settings for that sequence, select Match Sequence Settings in the Export Settings dialog box.
I’m confused what it is doing because when selected, it always sets the Field Type to Lower, even when the sequence is set to Upper or No Fields.  However, using a Match Source Attributes Preset, when available, the Field Type will indeed match the sequence’s Fields setting.  Also, the Match Sequence Settings wasn’t even available when the sequence was set to Lower Fields.
I did read in one of the forums where it was mentioned that checking the Match Sequence Settings will match the sequence's Preview File settings.  If this is true, I don’t see where one can set the Field of Preview Files.
If anyone could shed some light on this issue, I’d be most grateful.  Thanks.

I am confused about how to create a project setting as well as Export setting. I have few videos with width 640 & height 360.  Frame rate is 29 FPS. In project setting Frame Size i used 640 by 360 & pixel aspect ration is square pixel (1.0) . after i finish with editing i wanna to export in movie so in export setting i click on Match Sequence then render starts with 50% video quality i wanna to make that 100% but option is disable so what to do?
If I don't click on match Sequence then render will come in default size that is 720x480 . In this video quality comes 100%.
I am totally confuse kindly Help in this case.

  • Can't change settings in Project Settings dialog

    Hi,
I'm using the CS4 version of Premiere Pro and Encore on Windows 7.  I started with footage from an AVC HD camera.  I brought it into Premiere Pro and created a sequence from the "AVHCD 1080i30 (60i)" preset.  This results in a 1920x1080 frame with square pixels.  I then used Dynamic Link to export that sequence to Encore.
Now, in Encore, if I display the Project Settings dialog, all of the options on the Basic tab are disabled except Authoring Mode (Blu-ray or DVD).  It only lets me create an NTSC, 720x480 project.
Any idea why Encore doesn't let me select other project settings?
    Bob

    > what do you need to author to?
I want to author a "wide screen" DVD.  I'm struggling to understand what it means to author a "standard" vs. "wide screen" DVD.  I just posted a question on that subject in this same forum.
    >  Do you not see those options for a BD Project?
Curiously, no.  If I select Blu-Ray, the only option it lets me play with is the Codec (MPEG-2 or H.264).  All of the other settings are ghosted.
I guess what I'm starting to realize is that my project output options are constrained by the source matarial I've imported into Encore.  But I haven't found anything that directly talks about how the zillions of possible source formats interact with the types of output I can generate using Encore.

  • Import/Export Properties Dialog Box

I am trying to launch the import/export properties dialog box but the only item under the Tools menu is Customize. How can I get to the import/export properties dialog?
I am using TestStand 4.2 and have tried reinstalling.

    Hi,
I don't know why you don't see it already but I have a suggestion...
I'm using 4.1 but maybe you can create a new menu item using settings similiar to mine.
    Item Text Expression: ResStr("DATABASE_TOOL_MENU", "IMPORT_EXPORT_DESCRIPTION")
    Enable Expression: PropertyExists("RunState.InitialSelection.SelectedFile") && GetNumElements( RunState.InitialSelection.SelectedSequences ) > 0 &&  CurrentUserHasPrivilege("Develop.EditSequenceFile
    Sequence File: GenericImportExport.seq
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 4.1.1\Components\Tools\GenericImportExport.seq
(replace your own version of TestStand)
    Sequence: ImportExport
    Hope this helps.

I'm trying to follow this example:

but I can´t publish my fla into an swc file (I don't have that checkbox in my publish settings dialog)
So I never get to the Linkage box to check "Export for Action Script", "Export in Frame 1" and add my class and base class names.
I'm pretty sure I'm just being blind... Can't find that.

  • Export Settings - share-

Hey eveyone. I've googled and searched around but couldnt find anything.
Does anyone have a good link to someone sharing export settings. I created like 10 of them, and now with a clean install with Mavericks, I forgot to Save those settings.. oops.
    thanks in advance!

Anyways. doesnt sound like anyone does... so oh well...
If you know what to put, it only takes a second, so I'm guessing you're not always sure what to put (no shame in it - there's a lotta geeky stuff in that export dialog box).
Consider asking specific questions as you go to recreate, like:
    * What format should I use for...
    * What is the optimal size for uploading to...
    * What should the color space be when exporting to...
    * Should I apply output sharpening...
Or maybe just ask more generally, e.g.:
    * Could somebody please post an example preset for uploading to flickr...
In other words, at a minimum, people need to know where you're exporting to, and any other criteria you can think of, then they may be able to help more, maybe even provide starter presets for ya.
Right: there are no specific export preset sharing resources I'm aware of.
PS - I recommend pubish services for all but temporary on-the-fly exporting, if possible.

  • Export Settings Work Area

Where can I find a descriptions of each option in a Premiere Dialog Box? The is the most basic thing for product documentation, but I can't find this for most Premiere dialog boxes. There are some fluffy marketing statements, but no descriptions.
When I get to a dialog box, and click a drop down, it lists a bunch of options. I want a definition of each option. For example, in the Adobe Media Encoder and in the "Export Settings" panel there is a "Range" drop down. The drop down has two options: "Entire Sequence" and "Work Area". Where in the docs is the definition for these two options.

  • Save Export settings as a Preset?

Is there a way to save the Export settings as a Preset?
I convert QuickTime files to a variety of different formats that use very specific compression, size, and sound settings. It would be helpful to have user-defined presets so I don't have to manually enter them everytime AND to ensure consistancy.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I found this thread while looking for a similar thing....Requires a little Applescript, but seems to do the job.
    It was here:
    http://lists.apple.com/archives/QuickTime-Users/2002/Nov/msg00294.html
    Re: Custom export settings
    Subject: Re: Custom export settings
    From: Gary Flint <email@hidden>
    Date: Fri, 29 Nov 2002 13:47:45 -0800
I'm looking at developing an Applescript that will take a source Quicktime
file and export several Quicktime versions of the movie using different
compression settings (FPS, quality, codec) for streaming. Applescript can
tell Quicktime Pro to export movies using the export presets already
included in Quicktime Pro, but I am wondering if it is possible to add
    custom export presets?
    -Rob
The answer to your question is yes, with some caveats. You can preserve any arbitrary export preset using the following process:
    1) Open a movie representative of the kind you'd like to export
    2) Choose "Export" from the "File" menu
    3) Select the desired export kind from the "Export:" popup menu (Movie to QuickTime movie in this example)
    4) Click the "Options..." button to specify your custom settings, then click OK
    5) Note that the "Use:" popup menu now displays "Most Recent Settings"
    6) Start the export by clicking on the "Save" button (if you don't start an export the "Most Recent Settings" won't stick)
    7) Cancel the export if it is a long one
    8) To double-check the export settings, select the "Export..." menu item again. The "Export:" popup in the export dialog should indicate the last export performed and the "Use:" popup should display "Most Recent Settings". Click on the "Options..." button to confirm that the settings are indeed what you desire (you can skip this step once you gain confidence that this process actually works).
    9) Without closing the open movie, run the following AppleScript
    tell app "QuickTime Player"
    tell first movie
save export settings for QuickTime movie to file "My Volume:Export to Xyz Format"
    end tell
    end tell
    10) Repeat steps 1 through 9 for each export variation. Be sure to provide meaningful names for the export settings files.
To perform the actual movie export, use something like the following:
    tell app "QuickTime Player"
    tell first movie
    -- export various movie versions
export to "My Volume:Movie Xyz" as QuickTime movie ,
using settings alias "My Volume:Export to Xyz Format.set"
export to "My Volume:Movie Xyy" as QuickTime movie ,
using settings alias "My Volume:Export to Xyy Format.set"
export to "My Volume:Movie Xzz" as QuickTime movie ,
using settings alias "My Volume:Export to Xzz Format.set"
    -- etc.
    end tell
    end tell
Keep in mind that there is only one "Most Recent Settings" for each export type so you may want to make note of your settings in case you want to go back and tweak them.
Thankyou, and I hope my ramblings make sense.
I think they made sense (and my answer is predicated on that assumption). That said, I think both your question and my answer will appear as senseless ramblings to the non-scripters on the list.

  • Best project & export settings for GoPro 1080p 30fps - YouTube

    Hi all,
Just made a new video for YouTube and it's come out a little grainy, no where near as good as the original. I know YouTube compresses footage but looking at other users with the same equipment my video quality is sub par, I seem to be editing them incorrectly causing quality loss. Footage has lot's of motion:
★ HD YAMAHA RAPTOR 700 TRAIL RIDING, OFFROAD & SUSPENSION SETTINGS! QUAD BIKE ATV ★ed - YouTube
My other videos don't seem as bad, not perfect, but maybe as this one had less light and lot's of bumps/motion it's finally come to light that something is not right.
For example look at this video, same equipment etc, similar conditions, but quality is much higher:
[HD] Raptor 700 GOPRO HERO 3 BLACK HD 1080p 2014 Raptor 700 x2 Riding in NYC - YouTube
    Quite a big difference right?
I didn't realise there were project settings lol, I checked and it's set at 25FPS but my footage is 30FPS, would this cause issues? Export wise I did
I need help with project settings and export settings, can someone tell me what information you need from me to ascertain this?
    Many thanks,
    Toby

If you have source media = GoPro 1080p30, then your project preset should be
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
DSLR [email protected] or DSLR 1080p30 if the camera specification says 30 instead of 29.97 frames per second.
Either you set it manually or you make sure that the project is setting it automatically correctly.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Accuracy of Automatic Project Preset (New Project Dialog) Setting
When you go to export that to YouTube from within the Premiere Elements YouTube feature, you use the
    preset = High Definition Video for Youtube - 1920 x 1080.
If you exceed the file size/duration limit of the YouTube feature within Premiere Elements, then you export the
Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive. Next you upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
YouTube extended time accounts do not work in the YouTube feature within the program. The suggested file for
    this route would be
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30.
Please review and consider. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • Setting up my Line6 UX1 with Audtion 3.0 on Win7 - settings dialog takes ages to respond

I downloaded the trial of Adobe Audition 3.0 (I've been using 1.5 on WinXP for a few years now and it's always been fine to use!)
I am trying to set up my Line6 POD Studio UX1 with Audtion 3.0 on Windows 7 Pro (64 Bit - 32GB RAM Quad Core Intel i7 3770 Processor)
I am noticing that the Settings dialog takes ages to respond and update with the changes I make - when I eventually managed to get playback - the playback only came out on the left monitor.
I should mention that I am doing this on a previous Audition 1.5 session - Audition 3.0 saved the session as a new session so I think that should be fine.
What I'm looking for here is the correct settings I need to use in Audition 3.0 to use my UX1.
I don't want to pay for Audition 3.0 if it's not going to work for me!

You won't be able to pay for Audition 3 since it was discontinued several years ago. However you may be able to upgrade to AA3 for free as a previous Audition user.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 "Export Settings" window does not show up.

    Hello,
I've run into a new problem with Premiere Pro CS4. Basically, when I select "File > Export > Media" my Export Settings window doesn't show up. If I click on the Premiere window I hear the beeping sound and nothing happens, if I hit Enter the Export Data window pops up and then Media Encoder opens. So, it seems that my Export Settings window is still open but I can't see it and make the necessary setting changes. It does not appear to be minimized and I can not locate it on my desktop anywhere. This is really frustrating because I was able to see the Export Settings window just a few weeks ago when I was exporting my last project. I've tried changing my screen resolutions but that didnt reveal the Export Settings window.
Does anyone know what is going on here and, more importantly, how I can fix it? I am really stuck here and am working against a deadline. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
    -Ben

    Ben,
THANK YOU!!!! For two days I have been struggling with the exact same issue. And of course it was simple to fix, if I had just thought about it. Thank you for taking the time to post your experience. I had tried all sorts of stuff trying to get everything onto my #1 monitor, with desktop & workspace resets, resizing my display, etc. After reading and printing your post,
    Hitting ALT+Space,
    Down Arrow,
    Enter,
and then pressing the left arrow and watching my Export window slide into view, I was laughing so hard, that I was tearing up. It would have been a month waiting for my second monitor to get repaired to get to see what was still being displayed on this ghost monitor. Each week, I video and edit our church's service and then post three versions (Windows Media Player, Ipod-MP4, MP3 Audio) of it to our web site. I would have been four weeks behind were it not for your post.
    Again, a BIG Thank You!!!

  • Export settings for RealMedia

    Hello everybody
I use PR Pro 1.5 and I created a short video (a collection of .avi source files that lasts no longer than 4 mn) that I need to export in various formats :
WMP and RealMedia for the web, and then AVI, QT and MPEG1 for cdroms, Knowing that the video is meant to be seen by a large audience, and that the original avi files properties are as follows : 720*576, audio rate=1024 kbps, 16 bits, PCM and video image rate 25/s, 29200kbps.
I am really new to all the concepts regarding audio and video codecs, time frame, bit rate etc. so I am a bit at a loss with the export settings.
So far, for each of these formats, my guess would be as shown below :
RealMedia for the web : export / adobe media encoder
codec : "RM9 NTSC download "32"," 62", "128" or "256 "? I don’t know which to choose or why. And just because 256 seems familiar, this is what I would select.
a- for the “Band width” I’d pick up the “56 dial-up” settings because of the large audience it is aiming at, ..
b- as for the “band width rate” I can choose between “variable” (average or high quality) or “continuous”, I’d pick “variable (average) because of the diversity of the audience connectivity
c- and then I have to choose the rate values (default values go from 700 max to 200 average), and here I really have no idea,
d- Then I have two drop down menus (for video and audio), first for a voice codec : there aren’t any voice on my video, so I’d pick the lowest value = 5kbps, second for a music codec : there’s a mp3 soundtrack on my video (rate: 200kbps, 2(stereo) and 44KHz), so I’d go for the “176kbps stereo music” selection in the drop down list, but I keep wondering why not “176 kbps audio surrounding”, or maybe it could be a lower or a higher rate.
e- and then again, I have the same two drop down menus (but this time for video only). Basically for the voice codec I’d make the same selection as above for both the voice and music codec.
a-In the video panel, I can decide to change the dimensions of the images. Default is set to 320*340, but my original files are 720*576. So should I change the default settings to match the real dimension of the images ? If I do so, will that increase the weight of my video and as a consequence the duration of download for the internet users ? Maybe I shouldn’t consider this as it should be a streaming video, … then the weight doesn’t really matter, and I can go for the 720*576 resolution. Except I’ve read somewhere that most servers that host videos are not dedicated to streaming, so in the end, the weight does matter for most internet users wishing to watch a video. … Shouldn’t I on the contrary leave the default dimensions as they are ?
b- and the in the next drop down menu I have to choose the video compression : “Real Video 9” or “Real Video 8” or “Real Video G2”.  So … So G2 rings a bell somehow related to servers specializing in streaming (maybe I am completely wrong here … sorry). So I’d pick up that one to ensure that my video will be streamed. Then as an afterthought, as the total length of my video lasts no longer than 4 mn, maybe I can afford any of the two other options in the drop down menu. But which one is best ?
Jeez, this is a lot ! I’ll come back later on with my other formats and check if anybody is brave enough to answer !
    Thanks in advance anyway
    T.
